COCHRAN, James `Jimmy` E., 47, of Brandon, Fla., passed away Thursday, Oct. 17, 2002. Survivors include his lifelong companion, Elene Sclavakis; their children, Tyler James and Taylor Ann Cochran; and an endless ring of friends. A native of Detroit, Mich., he was a resident of Brandon for 47 years and a self employed painting contractor. He coached the Brandon Cowboys football team, North Brandon Asteroid's and North Brandon Devil Rays. Memorial services will be held at Stowers Brandon Chapel Thursday, Oct. 24, 2002 at 7 p.m., conducted by Reverend Lynn Sayne. Friends will be received one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Those who wish may make contributions to an established fund for Tyler James Cochran and Taylor Ann Cochran (Jimmy's children) at the Suncoast School Federal Credit Union in Jimmy's memory.

DAVIS, Raymond B., Rev., 59, a resident of Tampa, passed away October 19, 2002. He is preceded in death by his parents Carl and Birtie Davis; step-parents, Paul and Stella Harden; and sister, Linda Diane Davis. Survivors include his wife, Miriam Davis of Tampa; two sons, Lee Davis of Richlands, Va. and Christopher Davis of War, W.Va.; two daughters, Lynn Mayle of Plant City and Rebecca Hewitt of Tazewell, Va.; four brothers, Glenn Davis of Cherrypoint, N.C.; Teddy Davis, Johnny Davis and Carl Davis, Jr., all of Bland, Va.; 13 grandchildren; and one great-grandson, Dustin. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, October 23, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. from Hopewell Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Shane Rodriguez officiating. Interment will follow in Hopewell Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening (tonight) from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

DYKES, Walter, 72, of Gibsonton, passed away October 19, 2002. He was a former Florida State Trooper, retired from DOT, served in the US Army and was of the Protestant faith. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. at the graveside with Rev. Ervin T. June officiating. He is survived by his daughters, Sheryl Ford of Cottonwood, Ala., Patricia of Gibsonton, and Brenda Warren of Plant City; brothers, Irvin Dykes of Plant City and James of Okeechobee; and four grandchildren. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6-7:30 p.m. at Sydney Baptist Church. Interment will be in Bloomingdale Cemetery.

FETTER, Pearl `Little Pearl`, 50, Passed away Oct, 7, 2002. She was predeceased by a brother, Robert B. Drawdy; and a sister, Jeannette Johnson. Survivors include her husband, Russell; one son, Paul Dupree; two brothers, Ronald and Thomas Drawdy; four sisters, Lorretta Lague, Barbara Smith, Carol Fetter, Shirley Grossenbacher; numerous uncles and aunts. She was a resident of the Tampa area 45 years coming from Brunswick, Georgia and of the Baptist faith. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2002, 7 p.m., at Stowers Brandon Chapel.

GALLOWAY, Ralph M., 86, of Tampa, died Sunday, Oct. 20, 2002. Founder of Galloway's Furniture, he was preceded in death by his wife, Reva in 1985. He is survived by a son, John Galloway and his wife Marsha, Tampa; a daughter, Laura Galloway Petrides and her husband Sam of Chapel Hill, N.C.; five grandchildren, Leslie Galloway Estrada, Jennifer Galloway Pike, Caroline Galloway, Laurie Galloway Sheldon, and Peter Jamison Petrides; and great-grandson, John Nicholas Estrada. GRANT, Esther Ebersbach, born in 1900, died Friday, October 18, 2002, after a disabling stroke in 1999. She was the widow of Rev. Willard W. Grant and the daughter of Charles and Ella Ebersbach, deceased. A loyal lifelong member of the Methodist Church, in Ohio and in Tampa (The Hyde Park United Methodist Church). She was past president and active member of the Old Fashioned Garden Circle; always interested in education and a member of the American Association of University Women. With her ready wit and outgoing personality she made friends whom she enjoyed along with her flowers and her pets. She will be greatly missed by her loving sister Dorothy Ebersbach. A Service will be held at at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 23, with interment at Woodlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to Hyde Park United Methodist Church, Building Fund at 500 West Platt Street, Tampa FL 33606.

GRANTHAM, Charlene D. `Gigi`, 85, of Clearwater, passed away on October 20, 2002. Born in Seattle, Washington , she was a life-long resident of Tampa. She retired from Hillsboro Printing (formerly Bradley Engraving). She was a life-long member of Saint Andrew's Episcopal Church and is survived by one son, Clifton F. Grantham, Jr. of Palm Springs, California and one daughter, Penny Grantham Seibert of East Lake area in Pinellas County, Florida; two grandchildren, Richard W. Arnold Jr. and Elizabeth Charlene McLellan; and two great-grandchildren, Shayn Patrick and Darci Elizabeth McLellan. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday morning, 10 a.m. at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, 509 Twiggs St., Tampa.

JACKSON, Odis, of Tampa, passed away Oct. 20, 2002. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Paquita Jackson. He is survived by three sisters, Mary Ethel Catherwood, Rossetta Bane, and Evelyn Long, all of Plant City; and his only child, Hilda Hodges and husband, Clyde of Lutz; also surviving are five grandchildren, Kim Hummel of Lutz, Dr. Kirby Odis Smith of Moultrie, Ga., Mitzy Testaverde of Long Island, N.Y., Tina Gottesman, of Boonetown, N.J., Francie Alvarez of Tampa; and nine great-grandchildren, Chad and Christin Smith, Alicia, Vincent and Madeline Testaverde, Wesley and Dylan Gottesman, Kaleb Gomez and Selina Alvarez. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, October 23, 2002 at 11 a.m. in the Garden of Memories Cemetery.

McHAFFIE, Heather L., 31, went to be with the Lord October 21, 2002, ending a heroic 17 year battle dealing with complications due to Diabetes. She was thankful for all the intercesssory prayers through out the years from family and friends. Heather was born in Tampa, attended Bloomingdale High School, graduated from Trinity High School, Euless, Texas , and attended Dallas Baptist University, Dallas, Texas majoring in psychology to provide counseling to terminally ill children and their families. She volunteered in helping under-privileged and terminally ill children. She was a member of Phi Theta Kappa and Alpha Chi Honor Scholarship Societies. Survivors include her parents, Barry and Brenda McHaffie; grandparents, Jim and Eloise Williams and Douglas McHaffie; aunt and uncle, Sandi and Charles Moore; and cousins, Amanda Howell and Ashley Dremov. Reverend Mike Orr will be officiating. Services will be at Hillsboro Memorial Gardens, Brandon, on Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2002. MORRISON, Helen T. Cooper, of Riverhead, N.Y., and Apollo Beach, Fla., passed away Friday, Oct. 18, 2002 in Aquebogue, N.Y., at the age of 63. Born in Greenport, N.Y., she grew up in Riverhead and attended Lake Erie College in Ohio. She returned to Riverhead where she married Bruce W. Cooper and the couple had three sons. When the children were still young, their father was killed in a traffic accident and Helen raised her young family by herself. She was very active in the community, participating as football coach for Pop Warner. She cared for both her parents through final illnesses and was a reliable friend who could be called upon at any time of need. Helen moved to Apollo Beach, Fla., in 1984 where she met and married Jen Morrison in 1990. She was employed by Chadwell Homes and continued her efforts in community service. She was an invaluable committee member of Run By The Bay 5K - an organization dedicated to the fight against cystic fibrosis. Helen is most vividly remembered by family and community as a vibrant, loyal and capable friend. She leaves husband Ken Morrison of Florida; two sons and their wives, Bruce D. and Doreen A. Cooper of Riverhead and Thomas W. and Kat hryn L. Cooper of Aquebogue; six grandchildren, Laci M. Cooper, Annmarie R. Cooper Ryan B. Cooper, Justin C. Cooper, Thomas J. Cooper, and Emily A. Cooper; sister, Esther Turnbull of New York City; and brother, Thomas Turnbull of New Mexico. She is predeceased by one son, George W. Cooper. A memorial service will be held at First Congregational Church in Riverhead N.Y., on Saturday, October 26, 2002 at 11 a.m. Memorial donations may be sent to East End Hospice, PO Box 1048, West Hampton Beach, NY 11978- 7048.

MUTH, George Joseph, 81, of Seminole, Fla., formerly of Philadelphia, died October 20, 2002 in Nicholasville, Ky. He was the husband of Regina Muty. Mr. Muth was a native of Philadelphia, a member of St. Jeromes Roman Catholic Church in Tampa, Fla., and had been a manager for the Pennsylvania Railroad. Additional surivors include a son, John Muth, Nicholasville; two daughters and their husbands, Catherine Abbey and Tony Iardino of Georgia, and Pamela and Roland Dey, New Jersey; five grandchildren; several step-grandchildren and a sister, Kathryn Rockwood of Pennsylvania . He was preceded in death by his first wife, Catherine Magan Muth and a sister, Letty Pritchard. Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Luke Catholic Church with Father William Bush officiating. ROMAN, Glenda I., age 24, of Tampa, passed away September 24, 2002. A native of Wilmington, Delaware and resident of Tampa since 1992. She was a graduate of Chamberlain High School in 1998. Glenda is survived by her beloved mother, Mercedes Algarin and husband, Aristides; brothers, Jose Luis, Miguel Angel Roman, Jorge, Ricardo Serrano, Alejandro and Alberto Algarin; sisters, Wanda Serrano and Mercedes I. Roman; and grandparents, America and Jose A. Nadal.

SCHAEFFER, Mildred, 81, of Sun City Center, passed away October 19, 2002 at LifePath Hospice. She is survived by her husband, John (Jack) Schaeffer; her daughter, Darlyn Warwick; and three grandchildren, Kristen, Lisa and Rebecca; and two great-grandchildren, Felecia and Michael, all of Baltimore, Md. She was employed by the federal government as a transportation specialist and retired in 1969. The family would like to thank LifePath Hospice for their help and support.

He was a retired World War II Veteran after joining the U.S. Navy at age 17. A resident of Tampa since 1946, he retired from the U.S. Postal Service as a letter carrier (Sulphur Springs Branch).

WELLS, Benjamin W., 74, of Tampa, passed away October 20, 2002 in Tampa. He is predeceased by his parents; great-grandson, Caleb Matthew Kinsman; sister, Rose Wells; brother, Joe L. Wells. Survivors include wife, Ok Sum Wells of Tampa; son, Chuck Wells of Tampa; daughter, Mary Jean Parsons of Tampa; sister, Marie Keenum of Okeechobee; grandchildren, Tina M. Kinsman and Benjamin T. Kinsman of Lakeland and Joleen Wells and Chet Wells of Tampa; brother-in-law, Myung Won Hwang of New York; and sister-in-law, Jungsum Bever and husband, Charles of Tampa. Mr. Wells served 22 years in the Army, after which he worked 20 years as a manager for U-Save. He was a 32nd degree member of the Masonic Lodge of Chattanooga, Tenn., Lodge #430; Scottish Rite of Freemasonry of Tampa; and Egypt Temple Shrine of Tampa, where he was a life member of the Provost Guard Unit. WHITE, Walter N., 75, passed away Friday, October 18, 2002. He was preceded in death by his wife, Johanna. He is survived by his son, Gary; daughter, Lori; daughter-in-law, Joanna; grandchildren, Chris, Anne, Brian and Amber; brother, Ed; sisters, Ann and Helen; and nieces; and nephews. FARKAS, Kent, 57, born January 1, 1945, of Gainesville, formerly of New Port Richey passed away September 23, 2002,at Hospice House in Gainesville. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio on January 1, 1945, and moved to New Port Richey in 1985 from Grand Rapids, Mich. He was the owner of Best Care Veterinary Clinic in New Port Richey. He was a Methodist and a member of the American Veterinary Medicine Association. Survivors include his wife, Tamara of Gainesville; three daughters, Michelle Farkas and Julia Farkas both of Gainesville and Elaine Farkas of Ithaca, N.Y.; and a sister, Lynne Martin of New Port Richey. A memorial service will be held Saturday November 23, 2002 at 3 p.m. at the funeral home.
