She is survived by her husband, Danny Eldridge of Spring Hill; parents, Carl and Gloria Butterfield of Port Charlotte, Fla.; and brother, Daniel Butterfield of Stroudsburg, Pa. She was a native of Staten Island, N.Y. and was of the Baptist faith. Funeral services will be conducted 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 29, 2003 at the Stowers Brandon Chapel. Interment to follow at Providence Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6 til 8 p.m. at the funeral home.In lieu of flowers those who wish may make contributions to the American Diabetes or American Kidney Fund in her memory.

GARCIA, Joe Alberto, Sr., 68, born in Tampa, Fla., went to be with our Lord, Jesus, July 4, 2003 in Clendenin, W.Va., where he lived. A student of St. Joseph School, he served in the US Army, was a member of United Steel Workers Union, Sharp Shooters of W. Va. Pistol and Rifle Assoc. He is survived by his parents, Alberto Garcia, Clara Elena Castillo; grandparents, Joaquin Garcia Carmen Trujillo, Margarita Lazcano; his son, Joey A. Garcia Jr. of West Tampa; grandchildren, Marissa and Matthew; his daughter, Lena Berrus, grandchildren, Paul and Lindsey Dickinson, Lowville, N.Y.; brothers, Albert Garcia and Pete Alfonso; uncles, Pat Castillo, Richard Garcia, Alfonso Garcia; aunts, Gloria Alfonso, Ofelia Couceyro, Helen Gaudin, Angie Giovenco Castillo, Josephine Ficarrotta; cousins, Nancy Sullens, Danny Castillo, Patsy Ciccarello, Inez Buggica, Shirley Frost, Carmen Lauderdale, Sonia LaFe, Robert Torres, Nadine Weiderer, Pete Alfonso (architect), Frank Sierra, Nancy Varga, Ivera LaNuez, and Hope Gobbey. Memorial service on Monday, July 28, 2003 at 7 p.m. with Father John officiating at St. Joseph Church, 3012 W. Cherry St., for friends and family.

GARDNER, Lilian B., 83, died peacefully at her home in Tampa on Tuesday, July 22, 2003 at 5:15 p.m. She was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and moved to Tampa in the late 50's where she worked for the City of Tampa as a contract specialist and administrative assistant, as well as an assistant to State Senator Joseph McClain, Jr., putting her education from the University of Tennessee to good use. Lilian was selected `Woman of the Year` by the American Business Women's Association and was an active volunteer with Tampa's last Super Bowl. She was a staunch Republican and an ardent supporter and contributor to many causes, including animal rights. During her later years she attended Holy Trinity Presbyterian Church where she came to trust in Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and was a special person to so many within the church family. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, James Calvin and Christy Gardner of Lakeland, Florida and nephew, Milton Brooks Carew and his wife Rosalie of Salisbury, Maryland. She was preceded in death by her mother and step-father, Pauline and Brooks Carew, and half-sister, Polly Wathen and half-brother, Brooks Carew, Jr. A memorial service will be held at Holy Trinity Presbyterian Church, 3501 Bay to Bay Blvd., Tampa, FL 33629 at 12 Noon Monday, July 28th. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to LifePath Hospice, Holy Trinity Presbyterian Church, or a charity of your choice. At the moment of her death, surrounded by friends, Lilian passed immediately following the reading of the 23rd Psalm: `Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.`

GREEN Sr., James E. 71, Of Tampa, died Tuesday, July 22, 2003. He is survived by his sons, James Jr., Lonnie and Dale; sisters, Clarice Colvin and Frieda Fancher; brothers, Johnny T. and Julian; five grandchildren and eight grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brother, Donald C. and sister Helen Tillery. A memorial service will be conducted at Lakeshore Villas Health Care Center, 16002 Lakeshore Villa Drive, Tampa, Sunday, July 27, 2003 at 2 p.m. with Pastor Alfred Johnson officiating. She is survived by her husband, Emil `Pete` Marrero; sons, Joshua Lee Singletary of Riverview, Fla. and Emil Kelley Marrero of Brandon, Fla.; mother, Betty Glisson of Tampa, Fla.; brothers, Bob Glisson of Seffner, Fla., Bill Glisson of Valrico, Fla., Tim Glisson of Tampa, Fla., and Mike Reynolds of Riverview, Fla.; granddaughters, Olivia Leila Marrero and Shiane Akers, both of Brandon, Fla.; aunt and uncle, Bob and Connie Parshall of Trenton, Ohio; aunt, Erma Hunt of Valrico, Fla.; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. A lifelong resident of the Riverview area, she was an accounts manager with Meadow Burke Co., Tampa for 30 years and was of the Baptist faith. Funeral services will be conducted 10 a.m. Sunday, July 27, 2003 at the Stowers Brandon Chapel. Interment to follow at Hillsboro Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Saturday (this evening) from 6 til 8 p.m at the funeral home.

He is survived by his mother, Joan; wife, Donna; sons, Robert and Andrew; daughters, Stacey Culp and Christina Martin; brother, William; sisters, Julie Gonzalez, Elaine Navarre, Joni Navarre and Susie Hooper. Visitation will be July 28, 2003 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. with Funeral Mass at Nativity Catholic Church on July 29, 2003 at 10 a.m.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mary R. Pickert; his daughter, Maxene Pickert; several sisters-in-law, several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held July 26, 2003, Saturday at 2:30 p.m., at the First United Methodist Church in Lutz, Florida.

SENK, Jeanne A., 82, of Sun City Center, passed away July 23, 2003 at Brandon Hospital. She loved to swim and play bridge. She was a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Sun City Center, Fla. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Donald E. Senk; her daughters and their husbands, Marilyn and Dallan Wilson of Sun City Center, Fla., Donna and Alan Laible of Raleigh, N.C., Betty and William Waterhouse of State College, Pa.; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her daughter, Jeanne FitzGibbons. There will be a Funeral Mass held at Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Sun City Center, Fla. on Monday July 28, 2003 at 11 a.m. in the Conesa Hall. STRONG, Katherine J., 83, a resident of Lithia, passed away July 24, 2003. She is survived by one son, Gary Strong; one daughter, Sharon Bowers; eleven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchild and two great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Strong was a member of Turkey Creek First Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 29, 2003 at 10 a.m. from Turkey Creek First Baptist Church with Rev. David Jones officiating. interment will follow in Turkey Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

YOWELL, Russell Barbee, Sr., born in Washington , D.C. on July 28, 1921 went peacefully to be with the Lord on July 24, 2003 with his family by his side just four days short of his 82nd birthday. He leaves behind a wife and companion of 38 years, Caroline A. Yowell of Tampa; two sons, John C. Yowell and wife, Debra of Land O' Lakes, Russell B. Yowell, Jr. and wife, Kristine of Plant City; two daughters, Carolyn J. Hauser and husband, Dennis of Brandon, and Susan L. Millard and husband, Mike of Valrico; 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Alice May Gonzalez and Gayle Spencer. Russell moved to the Tampa Bay area in 1953. He was the owner of Carl's Roofing, River Heights Marina & Yacht Club, and Drive-In Travel service. He served in the U.S. Army in Europe during World War II. Russell loved life and lived it to the fullest and leaves to cherish his memory a loving family. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, July 28, 2003 at the Marsicano Chapel, 4040 Henderson Blvd., interment will follow at Garden Of Memories cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday, from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. at the funeral home.

CHAKOLA, Susheela L., 50, of Saint Leo, died Friday, July 25, 2003. She was born February 24, 1953 in India to Johny and Lily (Puthenpurackal) Anchery. She moved from India to New Orleans in 1976 and came to Dade City in 1983. She worked part time as an office manager for her husband, Dr. Paul Chakola at his Zephyrhills office. Survivors include her husband of 32 years, Paul L. Chakola M.D. of Saint Leo; her son, Paul J. Chakola of Brandon; daughter, Priya Chakola and son-in-law John Nabakavukaran of Stockton, California; three sisters, Ramani Phillip, Geeta Jinny and Lata Thomas all of India; brother Pav Anchery of India; her mother, Lily Anchery of India; and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received Tuesday, July 29, from 6-8 p.m. at Coleman & Ferguson Funeral Home in Dade City. The Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 30, at Saint Leo Abbey Church in Saint Leo. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Gardens in Dade City.

DAVIS, James W., 76, of New Port Richey, died Wednesday, July 23, 2003. He was born in Poughkeepsie, New York and moved to New Port Richey from New York many years ago. He was an Auto Delivery driver. He is survived by his wife, Leona Annesley of New Port Richey.

DEEGAN, Catherine 102, of New Port Richey, died July 25, 2003 at the Forest Glen Lodge in New Port Richey. Born in Chicago, Ill., she moved here in 1962 from her hometown. She was a supervisor in the baking industry and worked for Nabisco. She was a member of the Our Lady Queen of Peace Roman Catholic Church in New Port Richey. She is survived by her niece and caregiver, Marcelle McAloon of New Port Richey; and by her niece, Catherine Rakebrand of Crystal Lake, Ill. Arrangements are by North Meadowlawn Funeral Home, (727) 849-9281. A committal service will be held at Meadowlawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery in New Port Richey officiated by Deacon Roger Lind of Our Lady Queen of Peace, with entombment to follow.

EDWARDS, Joseph L., 93, of Hudson and formerly of Largo, died July 24, 2003 at Hernando-Pasco Hospice Care Center in new Port Richey. Born in Savannah, Ga., he moved to Tampa in 1915 from Savannah. He was a retired manager with A & P in Bellair Bluffs, Fla. Mr. Edwards was a veteran of the US Army and a Protestant. He was a member of the Bath Club in Redington Beach and he graduated from the St. Leo Academy in 1928. He is survived by his wife, Arlene Edwards of Hudson; son, Charles Brown of Clearwater; daughters, Sarah (Sally) Ward of Port Richey and Carol Travelstead of New Port Richey; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hernando-Pasco Hospice.

GILBERT, Rowland Byron, 72 of Zephyrhills, Fla., passed away Tuesday, July 22, 2003 under hospice care in Dade City. He was born in the Tampa / Temple Terrace are on December 10, 1930 to Rowland W. and Dora Williams Gilbert. He moved to Zephyrhills 16 years ago and was in the Steel Fabrication Business. He is survived by his wife, Marlene Navarro Gilbert, Zephyrhills, Fla.; three sisters, Beverly, Carolynn, Judy; and one brother, Alan. We wish to thank Dr. Leon Mitchell for 30 years of excellent care; Dr. N. Patel, Rick, and all the staff of Hernando-Pasco Hospice for their compassionate care.

HAYDEN, Joseph Milton, CMSGT, USAF (Ret.) 74, died Sunday, July 20, 2003, surrounded by his family at his home in Zephyrhills, Fla. Born January 19, 1929, in Brooklyn, N.Y. to Milton and Margaret Hayden and raised in the Catskill Mountains town of Windham N.Y., he graduated from Windham-Ashland- Jewett High School (Class of 1946). Chief Hayden enlisted In 1948 and proudly served our country for 28 years in the United States Air Force, retiring as a Chief Master Sergeant in 1976. A flight engineer, he flew in the Berlin Airlift, Korean War, and Viet Nam War. While living in North Falmouth, Mass. and stationed at Otis AFB, (1955-1970) Joseph flew Lockheed EC-121 Super-Constellation radar planes over the North Atlantic protecting the USA from Soviet ballistic missiles. Sgt. Hayden later assisted Lockheed's engineers to modify the EC-121 for service over Viet Nam. A graduate of the USAF Senior NCO Academy, Chief Hayden spent his later career as a First Sergeant at MacClellan AFB Sacramento, Calif., Westover AFB Chicopee Falls, Mass., Homestead AFB, Fla., and Pt. Arena AF Radar Station, Calif. After retirement, he settled in Zephyrhills, Fla. and earned a BS degree from New College , Sarasota, Fla. and a Master of Public Administration degree from University of South Florida, Tampa, Fla. He was one of the founders of the Air Force Sergeants' Association and a lifetime member. He was also a member of the Disabled American Veterans, and St. Joseph Catholic Church. His hobbies included auto mechanics, real estate investing, reading, genealogy, old movies and older limericks. Jo seph is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Beulah E. (Van Etten) Hayden of Lexington, N.Y.; seven adult children, Thomas Hayden, Matthew Hayden, and Barbara Wentz of Zephyrhills, Fla., Sharon Kennedy of Hanson, Mass., Kevin Hayden of Portland, Ore., Margaret Hayden of Eugene, Ore., and Mark Hayden of Mashpee, Mass. He also leaves his big brother, Thomas Hayden of Port St. Luce, Fla.; sixtee n grandchildren: Maureen, Robert, Jason, Alanna, Alida, Rebekah, Amber, Danielle, Johannah, Sarah, Elizabeth, Chantal, Christopher, Jordan, Ira, and Dylan; eleven great-grandchildren: Allison, Jessica, Angela, Rachel, Hayden, Brian, Chloe, Xavier, Hannah, Julia, and Ashley; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is loved and will be missed by all of his family and friends. A Funeral Mass will be held at the St. Joseph Catholic Church, 16th St. (corner of 5th Ave.) Zephyrhills, Fla. on Thursday, July 31, at 10 a.m. A graveside service will take place in his hometown of Windham, N.Y. at a date to be announced. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Salvation Army, St. Anthony School in San Antonio, Fla., or your local Hospice organization.

KIRKMAN, Jack Howell, 78, died Friday, July 25, 2003 after a long illness. He was a native Floridian, born in Blanton, Fla. He was the grandson of Jack and Sarah Howell, a founding family of Pasco County, and John and Jane Kirkman of Waverly, Tenn. As a young man, Jack's father, Francis Behring Kirkman homesteaded near Blanton and met and married Rachel Nevada Howell. Jack was a veteran of World War II, serving in the European theatre. After the war, he worked in the food service industry for 50 years before retiring to his orange grove. He was preceded in death by a sister, Frances Kirkman Stanley; and a brother, Wilton Bruce Kirkman. He is survived by his wife, Frances; children, Jill Krantz and husband, Brad of Tampa, Fla., Linda Butler and husband, Mack of Cumming, Ga. and Jack Kirkman, Jr. of Montgomery, Ala.; and grandchildren, Laura, William and Mary Frances Krantz, Gavin Butler and Ben and Caiti Kirkman. A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday at the Coleman & Ferguson Funeral Home in Dade City. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday at the Blanton United Methodist Church with Rev. Linda Fulbright officiating. Interment will follow at the Mt. Zion Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory to the Alzheimer's Family Organization, P.O. Box 1939, New Port Richey, FL 34656.

McCRYSTAL, Frank R., 84, of Hudson, died Friday, July 25, 2003 at Hernando-Pasco Hospice Care Center in New Port Richey. Born in New York City, N.Y., he came to the area 23 years ago from Dunedin, Fla. He was a dispatcher with Mobil Oil Company and a Catholic attending St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Hudson. Mr. McCrystal was a member of the Aripeka Elks Lodge #2520 in Aripeka, the VFW Post #6180 in Hudson and a US Navy Sea Bees veteran of World War II. He is survived by his wife, Ann I. of Hudson; son, Frank R. McCrystal Jr., of Lady Lake, Fla.; daughter, Patricia Mencaroni of Valley Stream, N.Y.; five grandchildren, William, Debra, Gino, Dawn and Nicholas; and four great-grandchildren, Kristin, Thomas, Alyssa and Lauren.

Mr. Ward was born April 9, 1960 in San Antonio, Texas to Boice Wayland and Fannie (Alderman) Ward. He was a veteran of the US Air Force.
