Patrick Lee Pelham Sr., 83, of Graceville died Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2003, at the Campbellton-Graceville Hospital following an extended illness.
He was born in Graceville on Nov. 1, 1919. He was a 1939 graduate of Graceville High School. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Navy. Following an honorable discharge, he was employed for several years with Wainwright Shipyard, Panama City, as a master electrician. He returned to Graceville in 1945 and worked for 29 years as a rural mail carrier until his retirement in 1974. Mr. Pelham and his wife, Musette Odom Pelham, were owners and operators of Service Dry Cleaners for 30 years. He was a lifelong active member of the First United Methodist Church where he was a member of the Men's Bible Class, Administrative Board and the Methodist Men's Club. He was also a member of the Graceville Lions Club where he served in various capacities in past years. He was also a member of Graceville Masonic Lodge No. 284.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Pat and Josie Rebecca Miller Pelham; his sister and brother-in-law, Lorene Pelham and J.D. "Buck" Barker; his father and mother-in-law, Leroy and Lettie B. Odom of Chipley; and his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Juanita and Green Bass.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Musette Odom Pelham; his son and daughter-in-law, Patrick Lee Jr. and Carol Pelham of Graceville; his daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca Pelham and Jim Kelly of Marietta, Ga.; his grandchildren, Shannon Kelly and Doug Dunlap of Marietta, Ga., Betsy Kelly and Steve Mileski of Charlotte, N.C., Kerri Pelham of Graceville, Holly and Jimmy Moerkerken of Ozark, and Josie Elizabeth Dunlap of Marietta, Ga.; his nieces, Kathleen Barker Turner and Abbie Barker Burdeshaw of Graceville; and his sister-in-law and her husband, Ochella Odom South and Mike South of Pensacola.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 19, at the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jim Jines and the Rev. Cecil Jackson officiating. Burial will be in Marvin Chapel Cemetery
with Williams Funeral Home directing.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. today, Thursday, Sept. 18, at the Williams Funeral Home Chapel in Graceville.

W.M. Lashley, 80, of Compass Lake died Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2003, in the Jackson Hospital.
He was born in Cowart, Ala., but was a lifelong resident of this area. Before retiring he was a sub-masonry contractor, W.M. Lashley & Sons. He was a member of the Cypress Creek Community Church. He was a member of the American Legion of Alford, the AARP and the Compass Lake Sportsman Club. He loved hunting, work and his family.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Brady Lashley and his mother, Leona Shouppe.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 57 years, Lonia Lashley of Compass Lake; three sons, Foy "Bunny" Lashley and his wife, Glenda, J.W. "Sonny" Lashley and his wife, Sharon, and Tommy Lashley and his wife, Roxann, all of Compass Lake; one daughter, Charlotte Brown and her husband, Bud of Compass Lake; one sister, Robbie Pippin of Compass Lake; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held Friday, Sept. 19, at 11 a.m. in the Cypress Creek Community Church with Pastor James Vickery and the Rev. George Cooper officiating. Burial will be in the Compass Lake Cemetery.

Clara Olivia Williams Bamberg, 84 years young, passed over to be with the Lord Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2003.
She was born December 25, 1918 to Mr. and Mrs. Noah Williams of Grand Ridge.
She was a lifelong resident of Jackson County and a member of the Shady Grove Pentecostal Holiness Church. She enjoyed sewing for others and loved to cook. She loved her church family, but most of all she loved her Lord.
She was preceded in death by her parents, six brothers and three sisters.
She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 66 years, Perry Bamberg of Grand Ridge; one son, Rolan Bamberg and his wife, Emmalie of Sneads; one daughter, Betty Segers and her husband, Houston of Sneads; two grandchildren, Lenora White and her husband, Cranston of Grand Ridge, and Renita Waird and her husband, Charlie of Moultrie, Ga.; two great-grandchildren, La Tausha White of Grand Ridge and Amber Waird of Moultrie, Ga.; three sisters-in-law, Evelyn Williams of Marianna, Johnnie Williams of Tampa, and Melba Williams of Grand Ridge; and a host of nephews and nieces.
The funeral will be held Saturday, Sept. 20, at 3 p.m. in the Shady Grove Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Rev. Williams Walker officiating. Burial will be in the Shady Grove Cemetery.

Clarence Burch, 76, of Altha died Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2003, at his residence.
He was a lifelong resident of this area and had worked for 34 years as a mechanic for Jackson County School Board.
He is survived by: his son, Larry Burch and his wife, Glenda of Altha; one sister, Jewell Chance of Marianna; extended family, Lula Nix of Altha; five grandchildren, Joey Burch, Pam Schultz, Dusty Griffin, Rodney Fielder and Anthony Fielder; eight great-grandchildren.

Andrew B. Swails, 91, (better known as Little Buddy) died Sept. 22, 2003, in Jackson Hospital.
He was a native of Jackson County, a member of the Jerusalem AME Church and a retired Taxi driver.
He is survived by: five daughters, Angerlin Jackson of Tampa, Gwendolyn Borders (Jacob) of Marianna, Maureen Hayes (Eddie) of Tampa, Yvette Governor (Vincent) of Tampa, and Texawitha Pittman (Curly) of Greenwood; two sons, Bernard Swails of Norfolk, England, and Ervin Swails (Gloria) of Pensacola; two sister, Bessie Gatlin (James) of Blountstown, and Thelme Canty (Clifford) of Tampa; brother, Willie Swails (Elnora) of Daytona Beach; 16 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Bernice Stephens, 53, of Marianna died Sept. 17, 2003 in the Bay Medical Center in Panama City.
She was a native of Cottondale, a member of Bethel Star Missionary Baptist Church, and a graduate of the J.C.T.S. Class of 1970.
She is survived by: her sister, Jannie Bellamy of Marianna; step-sisters, Ageline and Carline Downs of Detroit, Mich., Katherina Beechum of Dothan, Ala., and Amie, Jewelene, Katherine, Lenora, and Eldora Stephens of Jacob City; step-brothers, James and Lonnie Stephens of Dothan, Ala., Lonnie Sylvester Stephens of Jacob City, Henry Spinks of Tallahassee; and a special friend, Fred McCloud of Marianna.

Eddie Wilson, 66, of Sneads died Sept. 21, 2003, at his residence.
He is survived by: two brothers, Morgan Wilson (Catherine) of Orlando and Plair Wilson of Newark, N.J.; sister, Esther Wilson of Orlando; great-aunt, Viola Lockworth of Sneads; and great-uncle, John Daniels (Johnnie Mae) of Sneads. The funeral will be held Sept. 27, at 11 a.m. at Little Zion Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Eddie Bowers officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Glenda Thompson, 52, of Ocean, N.J. died Sept. 17, 2003.
She was formerly of Cottondale.
She is survived by: her father, Andrew Thompson of Cottondale; two daughters, Andrea Thompson and Jeneen Thompson, both of Ocean, N.J.; a son, Deon Thompson of Ocean, N.J.; five sisters, Brenda Walker of Lakewood, N.J., Rhonda Thompson and Linda Manior (Michael), both of Austin, Texas , Lisa Rogers of Long Beach, N.J., and Patricia Rogers of Eatontown, N.J.; and seven brothers, Andrew Thompson (Debbie) of Temple, Texas , Gene Thompson (Ann) of Hollywood, Calif., George Thompson (Sherry) of Asbury Park, N.J., Gregory Thompson of Austin, Texas , Kenneth Thompson of Asbury Park, N.J., John Thompson of Lakewood, N.J. and Douglas Farrow.

Gilbert Lyle Craft, 81, a resident of Extendicare Health and Rehabilitation Center, Dothan, died early Wednesday morning, Sept. 24, 2003, in Extendicare Hospice Services Facility in Dothan.
He was born in Jennings, Okla., the son of the late Elmer R. Craft and Mable Esther Ireland Craft. He was reared in Twin Falls, Idaho but lived in Hawthorne, Nev. most of his lifetime. He had also lived in Quincy and Malone before moving to Dothan in March 2002.
He was retired from Hawthorne Army Ammunition Depot as a planner and estimator. After his retirement, he served in the prison ministry for 10 years as a resident of Quincy and Malone. He was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church and was a former member of Friendship Baptist Church in Malone. In earlier years, he was a member of the Elks Lodge in Hawthorne, Nev. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Louis Craft and Arthur Craft.
He is survived by: his wife, Hilda McAfee Craft, a resident of the Terrace at Grove Park, Dothan; two daughters, Terri Money and her husband, Richard Money of Headland, and Esther Craft of Quincy; two grandchildren, Jeri Lyn Munden and Brian Joseph; two brothers, Roy Craft and his wife, Alice Craft, of West Haven, Utah, and Calvert Craft of Pacheco, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 26, in the Bethlehem Baptist Church near Headland with the Rev. Ricky L. Smith officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with Holman-Headland Mortuary directing.
