Betty Jean Thompson, 61, of Apalachicola, died on Tuesday, Dec. 21, 1999 at her home. Born at Thirteen Mile, Mrs. Thompson had lived her life in Apalachicola. She was a homemaker and attended the Living Waters Assembly of God Church in Apalachicola. She is survived by her husband, Donald Thompson of Apalachicola; her children: Donald "Junior" Thompson Jr., Charles Everitt "Porky" Thompson, Kimberly Zingarelli and Nancy Shattuck, all of Apalachicola; two brothers: Monroe Marshall of Apalachicola and Max Marshall of Panama City; two sisters: Ernestine Spencer of Jena, La., and Pastelle Gavins of Panama City; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held at 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. (EST) Thursday, Dec. 23 at Kelley Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. (EST) Friday, Dec. 24 at the Living Waters Assembly of God Church. Interment will follow in Magnolia Cemetery in Apalachicola.

HERBERT H. (HUB) WHITE
Herbert H. (HUB) White, age 70, of 9639 Highway 231, Panama City, Fla. died unexpectedly Wednesday afternoon, Dec. 22, 1999 at his home. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Dec. 24 in Homan-Headland Mortuary Chapel, Headland, Ala., with the Rev. Carl Shiver officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory, near Headland. The family will receive friens from 10 until 11 a.m. Friday at the mortuary. Mr. White was born and reared in Houston County, near Columbia, son of the late John and Pam White and Jenny Wistee Johnson White. Mr. White lived in Dothan and Tampa, prior to moving to Panama City in 1991. He was employed with Crain Trucking Company in Huntington, Texas as a local and long distance truck driver. Mr. White served in the United States Navy and attended Youngstown Baptist Church in Youngstown, Fla. Surviving relatives include his wife, Voncille Johnson White of Panama City; two daughters, Johanna Sizemore White and her husband, David White of Lakeland, Ga.; Jackie White Peeler and her husband, Ricky Peeler of Dothan; three grandchildren: Lauren Sizemore, Jay Sizemore and Shiloh Peeler. Serving as active casketbearers will be: Jack Mullins, Buford Morris, Frank Craft, Julian Craft, Nicholas Matthews and Jim Frank Peters.

DELPHINE ELEANOR MILLER SHEFFIELD
Ms. Delphine Eleanor Miller Sheffield, age 67, of 1304 Bruce Street, Dothan, Ala. passed away Wednesday, Dec. 22, 1999, at Westside Terrace Nursing Home after an extended illness. Ms. Sheffield was born Oct. 16, 1932, in Canada, the daughter of Jacob Miller and Mary Kettle Miller. She was retired from waitressing at the Coffee Kettle in Panama City, Florida after 29 years. She attended Dothan Church of God. She was loved by many and always kept her sweet spirit. She enjoyed her children often and loved them very much. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Deborah Drennan. She is survived by daughters: Betty Pate and her husband Wayne of Panama City, Fla., Peggy Allen and her husband Larry of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., Roberta Oswalt and her husband Roy of Tuscaloosa, Ala., Angel Peoples and her husband Cary of Dothan, Ala., Virginia Hall and her husband Stephen of Birmingham, Ala.; sons: Bobby Drennan and his wife Starla of Enterprise, Ala., Greg Lathery and his wife Dana of Dothan, Ala.: five sisters and two brothers in Canada; 14 grandchildren; and seven-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 27 at Kent - Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tommy Martin officiating. Interment will follow at Lynn Haven Cemetery. Asked to serve as active pallbearers are: Brian Drennan, Bobby Touchton, Jeremy Pate, T.J. Pate, Roy Bennett and Chris Clyatt. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 26. The family will be staying at the home of Betty Pate, 812 Kentucky Ave., Lynn Haven, Fl. 32444.

YASUE TATENO HAITH
Mrs. Yasue Tateno Haith lost her struggle with cancer on Dec. 22, 1999 in her home with her family by her side. Born in Nikko, Japan, on Nov. 8, 1939, she first came to the United States in 1962. After short stays in Virginia, California, Washington State and Texas , she settled in Panama City in 1968 with her husband, Bob Haith, and family. Gentle, kind and generous, she devoted her life to her family, serving selflessly and quietly. In her battle against cancer, she revealed a silent bravery that inspired all who knew her. She was deeply grateful for the prayers and support of her many friends and family. Mrs. Haith is preceded in death by her parents, Tamagiro Tateno and Hatsu Tateno. She is survived by her former husband, Robert Haith of Panama City Beach, Fla.; two daughters, Mimi LePine and her husband Jeff of Gainseville, Fla., Melonie Haith of Panama City, Fla.; one brother, Sadayuki Tateno of Tokyo, Japan; a stepson, Michael Haith and wife Pat of New York; stepdaughter, Chris Ann Hix and husband Dan of Virginia; and four grandchildren: Ian, Kristin, Michael and Matthew. Memorialization will be by cremation.

Mrs. Aberta L. Obert, age 65, of 7829 Resota Beach Road, Southport, Fla., passed away Thursday, Dec. 23, 1999 at her residence. She was born in Southport and was a lifetime resident of area. She worked as a seamstress for Jonathan & Logan for many years. She was a member of Southport First Baptist Church and a member of the Eastern Star. She is survived by her husband, William C. Obert of Southport, Fla.; daughters: Jackie Birge and her husband Bo of Chipley, Fla., Joyce Sayles and her husband David of Southport, Fla.; sons: Joel Obert and his wife Kim of Southport, Fla., William C. Obert Jr. and his wife Janet of Southport, Fla.; a stepdaughter: Catherine Ann Evel of Grand Forks, N.D.; sisters: Pansy Burkett of Southport, Lois Joyner of West Bay, Fla., Mazie Sinclair of Southport, Fla.; extended family members: Yvonne Bullard, Danielle Bullard, Michelle Bullard, Pam Driver; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Linda Gail Obert; and a son-in-law, Danny Darsey. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 27, 1999 at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Scott Whetstone and Rev. Buford Carter and by special request the Rev. Derick Biddinger officiating. Interment will follow at Lynn Haven Cemetery. Asked to serve as active pallbearers are Wally Cooley, Lynn Mason, Leon Mathis, Robby Quick, Carl Seal, Michael Obert and Edmond Hill. Horace Glenn Willis, 75, of 302 N. James Ave., Panama City, died Friday, Dec. 24, 1999, in a local hospital. He was a retired pipe fitter with the Pipefitters' Union Local 229 and motorcycle police officer with the Panama City Police Department. He had been a resident of Panama City since the 1940s. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, the Steamfitter and Pipefitters' Union Local 366, Parker Masonic Lodge 142, and the Eastern Star Parker Chapter 96. He is survived by his wife, Mellonae Hughes Willis of Panama City; two daughters, Cathy Ryan of Kauai, Hawaii, Sandra Holley of Lynn Haven; three grandchildren, Shaun Evans, Chris Holley, Nicki Holley; great-grandson, Kameron James Evans; brother, Robert Willis of Panama City; sister, Mavis Green of Eufaula, Ala.; and an uncle, Will Hughes of Panama City. Funeral services will be held Monday at 10 a.m. in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Floyd Wright officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery with Masonic rites conducted at the graveside. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday. KELLIE JULIEANNE ASPINWALL
Kelli Julieanne Aspinwall, 16, of Murfreesboro, Tenn., died late Thursday night, Dec. 23, 1999, from injuries she received in an automobile accident in Murfreesboro. Miss. Aspinwall was a native of Birmingham, Ala., and had lived in Panama City before moving to Murfreesboro in 1994. Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 27, 1999, in the Mabson Methodist Church Cemetery, near Ozark. The Rev. Bill Brown will officiate with Holman-Headland Mortuary directing. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army Church of Murfreesboro, 1137 West Main St., Murfreesboro, TN 37130. Miss Aspinwall was a junior at Oakland High School in Murfreesboro where she was an honor student and a varsity cheerleader. She was a member of the Key Club, National Honor Society, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Campus Life. She was also a member of the Salvation Army Church of Murfreesboro. She is survived by her parents, Leslie and Julie Spurlock Aspinwall and two sisters Kasi Aspinwall and Keri Loyed, all of Murfreesboro; grandmother, Sarah Rodgers of Birmingham, Ala.; uncle and aunt, Danny and Debbie Spurlock of Midland City, Tenn.; an aunt, Tessie Carter, of Ashford, Tenn.; and three cousins, Cindi Gabney of Dothan, Ala., and Bradley Shaw and Derek Carroll, both of Ashford, Tenn.

WILLIAM "BILLY" DUKE
Mr. William L. "Billy" Duke, 66, of Wewahitchka, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 22, 1999 at his home. A native of Calhoun County, he was retired from the U.S. Army. He had been a resident of Wewahitchka for the past 30 years. Survivors include his loving wife, Ruth Duke, of Wewahitchka; a daughter, Lisa Duke of Birmingham, Ala.; a stepson, Reggie Miller of Tallahassee; a sister, Agnes Hankins of Tullahoma, Tenn.; two brothers, Tommy Duke of Pansey, Ala., and Aaron Duke of Hinson's Crossroads; one granddaughter, two step-grandchildren and two special friends, William and Belle Chason of Wewahitchka. The funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 27, 1999 at Cypress Creek Cemetery. It will be conducted by the Rev. Woodrow Blackmon. Internment will follow. JULIAN GUSTAU "BUZ" BOLTZ
Mr. Julian Gustau "Buz" Boltz, 64, of Panama City, died Christmas Eve in a local hospital. Born in Greenwood, Ind., he moved to Panama City from Charleston, S.C., in 1970. He was an electronics technician with Precision Communications. He was a Vietnam veteran and retired Master Sgt., with 20 years of service in the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of the Lions Club of Panama City and graduated from Center Grove High School in 1953. He was preceded in death by a sister, Leda Mae Smith. He is survived by his wife, Renay Boltz of Panama City; one brother, Charles D. "Chuck" Boltz and wife Dortha Sue of Greenwood, Ind.; two nephews, Steven Boltz and wife Martha of Indianapolis, Ind., and Scott Boltz and wife Jayne of Kokomo, Ind. A memorial service will be conducted on Tuesday, Dec. 28, 1999 at 10 a.m. in the Southerland Funeral Home Chapel with pastor Jim Kirkland officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association in memory of Mr. Boltz.

Mr. Darian Letyne Manning, 45, of 816 Massalina Drive, died Dec. 20, 1999 in his home. He was a native of Paris, France and a resident of Panama City for many years. He was educated in Bay County public schools and served 16 years in the U.S. Army. He received an honorable discharge in 1984. He is survived by his wife Regina V. Manning of Panama City; daughter Crikina Manning, and granddaughter, LaDashia Manning, both of Monroe, La.; six stepchildren: Pernell, Bridggette, Marcia Leon, Company and Takian, all of Panama City, and Kenneth Manning and wife Tina, of Atlanta, Ga.; one sister, Mary D. Faison of Fort Lauderdale; stepmother, Collye Sue Manning of Panama City; father-in-law, Davie Bowers of Panama City; two aunts, Florence Barnes of Panama City, and Lynn Driesback and husband Raymond of Port St. Joe; stepsister, Marsha Mount of Panama City, three stepbrothers: David Mount of Atlanta, Ga., Rodney Mount of Panama City and Jason Mount of Gainesville; five uncles: Walter Barnes and wife Margaret of Riviera Beach, Amos Barnes and wife Editha and Nathaniel Barnes, both of Detroit, Mich., Willie Roy Manning and wife Bessie of Newark, N.J., and Marcus Manning of Port St. Joe; two special cousins, Vita Mae Pampey and Idell Smith, both of Panama City; and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be Monday, Dec. 27, 1999 at 1 p.m. in the Greater Bethel A.M.E. church with the Rev. O.C. Williams officiating. Interment will follow in the Hillside Cemetery. The remains will lie in state at the Church on Monday from 10 a.m. until the service begins. The family will receive relatives and friends at 816 Massalina Drive.
