Doris Eidson Aderhold, age 77, of Pleasant Grove, Ala., died Monday, March 20, 2000. She was a dedicated homemaker, mother and good friend, served her Lord with her very best at Wylam Baptist Church in Birmingham, Ala., and St. Andrew Baptist Church in Panama City Beach, Fla. Funeral services will be held today, March 24, at 10 a.m. at Brown Service West Chapel with interment at Welti Cumberland Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Welti, Ala. with Bro. Jerry Curry and Bro Ray Lathem officiating. Survivors include a son, Gary Aderhold of Pleasant Grove, Ala.; daughters, Joan Aderhold of Seattle, Wash., Beth Wienecke of Largo, Fla.; sisters, Geraldine Carter of Cullman, Ala. and Aileen Eidson of Cullman, Ala.; brother, Buell Eidson of Birmingham; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; numerous friends and relatives in Pleasant Grove, Birmingham, Cullman, Alabama and Panama City Beach.

Mrs. Laura E. Deese, 89, a native of Calhoun County, Fla., died Monday, March 20, 2000, in Landmark Rehabilation Center in Blountstown. She was a waitress and a homemaker and was a member of the New Richland Baptist Church in Jeffersonville, Ga. She is preceded in death by her husband, Andrew J. Deese. Mrs. Deese is survived by two sons, Douglas B. Tipton and wife Joan of Spokane, Wash., Dennis D. Tipton and wife Sali of Apalachicola, Fla.; four daughters: Nellie Alford and husband Homer of Cochran, Ga., Hazel Bush and husband Bill of Bonifay, Fla., Florence Johnson and husband Jim of Bayou George, Fla., Ruby Oliver and husband Robert of Thidadoux, La.; one brother, Emon Dykes and wife Evelyn of Port St. Joe; two sisters, Myrtle Dykes of Altha, Fla. and Nellie Boyette and husband Comer of Grandridge, Fla.; 38 grandchildren, 78 great-grandchildren, 30 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, March 24 at 2 p.m. in Southerland Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Russell Ward officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home this evening from 6 to 8 p.m.

JOE FONTAINE
Mrs. Joe Fontaine, 63, of Mexico Beach, Fla., passed away Wednesday, March 22, 2000, in Bay medical Center following a brief illness. A native of Montgomery, Ala., he had been a resident here since 1971. He retired from Bell South in 1997 after 37 yrs. He was a dedicated blood donor having donated over 13 gallons in his lifetime. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served three years in Japan. He lived a very joyful and fulfilling life getting the most out of every day. He never met a stranger and there wasn't a soul that he would not help. Mr. Fontaine is survived by his wife of 40 yrs., Betty Fontaine of Mexico Beach, Fla.; sons, Joey Fontaine and his wife Becky of Pearl, Miss., Lee Fontaine and his wife Debbie of Dalkelth; daughter, Dawn Fontaine of Mexico Beach; three grandchildren: Lindsey and Trey Fontaine of Pearl, Miss., Bailee Fontaine of Dalkeith; brothers, Ben Fontaine of Lexington, Ky., Winston Fontaine of Pensacola, Fred Fontaine of Montgomery, Ala.; sisters, Martha Cook of Wetumpka, Ala., Ruth Merkal of Montgomery, Sara Jo Bagley Of Eclectic, Ala., Florine Knapp of Millbrook, Ala. and Betty Bair of York, Penn. and many friends too numerous to mention. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, March 24, at 11 a.m. EST in First United Methodist Church of Port St. Joe. Interment will follow in Holly Hills Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home this evening from 7 to 9 p.m.

Sharon Taylor Griffith, formerly Sharron Via, beloved daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend died on March 21, 2000, in Nashua, N.H., of a lengthy illness. Zis-Sweeney Funeral Home of Nashua, N.H. is in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. James Howard Railey, age 81, of 902 Brandeis Ave., Panama City, Fla., died Monday, March 20, 2000, at a local hospital. He had been a resident of the area since 1936, coming here from Bonifay, Fla. Mr. Railey was married to his wife Katherine for 54 wonderful years. He was the circulation manager for the Panama City News-Herald until 1954 and worked for Franklin Life for 46 years as a general agent. Mr. Railey was a deacon, Sunday school teacher, and Sunday school superintendent for First Assembly of God in Panama City. He was also a former member of the Optimist Club, serving as Past President and Lt. Governor for the State of Fla. Optimist Club, and a member of the Panama City Life Underwriters. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Katherine V. Railey of Panama City; two sons, James H. Railey Jr. and his wife Linda of Springfield, Mo. and Donald T. Railey and his wife Darla of Milton, Fla.; grandchildren: Rusty Railey, Richie Railey, Christopher Railey and his wife Cara, and Megan Railey; a sister, Emagene Hyatt of Megarel, Ala.; brothers, Clifford Railey of Little Rock, Ark., Clyde Railey of Jacksonville, Fla., the Rev. Crawford Railey of Atlanta, Ga. and Harold Railey of Cottondale, Fla. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, March 24, at First Assembly of God with the Rev. Phil Edwards and the Rev. Wiley T. Davis officiating. Entombment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Asked to serve as active pallbearers are: Don Evans, Don Berklite, Julian Nelson, Elzie Freeman, Brett Railey, and Willie B. Vickers. Honorary pallbearers will include: the Men's Bible Class of First Assembly of God and Members of the Optimist Club. ROY LEON ROBERTS
Roy Leon Roberts, 79, of Parker, Fla., died Tuesday, March 21, 2000, in a local hospital. He was a lifelong resident of Bay County. He was owner of Parker Auto Service from 1948-1977 and was the Water Superintendent for the City of Parker from 1977-1991. He started the Volunteer Fire Department in Parker in 1955 where he retired as Fire Chief in 1991. Mr. Roberts was the founder of the Parker Men's Club, a member of Parker Masonic Lodge 142, and was the current President of the Parker Cemetery Association. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Lynn Haven, the Bay County Firefighter's Association and was a volunteer for the Council on Aging's Meals on Wheels. He was preceded in death by his sister, Elizabeth Steed; two brothers, Ralph Roberts and Leslie Roberts. He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Roberts of Parker; daughter, Sherrie C. Pitts and her husband, Tommie, of Parker; granddaughter, Jenise Pitts; brother, V.L. Roberts Jr. and his wife, Shirley of Panama City; three sisters: Mary Mathis and her husband, Vaston, of Lynn Haven, Ellamae Benton and her husband, Charles, Vivian Page and her husband, Russell all of Southport, Fla., two sisters-in-law, Marjorie Pollock of Parker, Fla., Grace Davis of Bayou George, Fla., and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Friday at 3 p.m. in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with the Dr. Fred Keith and the Rev. Donald Pickerill officiating. Interment will follow in the Parker Cemetery with masonic rites to be conducted at the graveside. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. today. The family will be at the home of Sherrie and Tommie Pitts, 1102 E. Park St., Parker, FL. The Parker Masonic Lodge will be open one hour prior to the service. GEORGE ALLEN SIMONDS JR.
Mr. George Allen Simonds Jr., age 77, of 2608 Willow Oak Court, Panama City Beach, Fla., died Monday, March 20, 2000, at a local hospital. He served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps as a gunnery sergeant. Mr. Simonds had a highly decorated career in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was also a member of Grace Episcopal Church of Panama City Beach. Mr. Simonds leaves behind his loving and faithful wife of nearly 58 years, Kathleen Simonds of Panama City Beach; two daughters, Pat Feix and her husband Joe of Panama City Beach and Dee Arnold and her husband Nate of Panama City; two sons, Gene Simonds and his wife Janis of Panama City and Greg Simonds of San Diego, Calif.; a sister, Anne Jones and her husband Lowell of Bowling Green, Ohio; grandchildren: Matt Arnold, Lisa Arnold, Gene Simonds Jr., George Simonds III, Aaron Simonds and his wife Kari, and Angela Simonds; and great-grandchildren, Tyler and Caleb Simonds and his wife Ana. Mr. Simonds was preceded in death by two granddaughters, Jennifer Holland and Melissa Holland. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. today., March 23, at Grace Episcopal Church of Panama City Beach with Fr. Kenneth Barker officiating. Mr. Horace Vernon Wilson, age 50, of 1312 Stephens Drive, Panama City, Fla., died Tuesday, March 21, 2000, at his home. He was the owner and operator of Wilson's Carpets for 20 years and was Baptist by faith. Mr. Wilson is survived by a son, Vernon Eugene Wilson of Panama City; father, Thomas F Wilson Sr. of Panama City; five brothers: Robert A. Wilson and his wife Mary of Panama City, Thomas F. Wilson Jr. of Wewahitchka, Otis Braxton Wilson and Anthony Ray Wilson , both of Fort Myers, Fla., and Ronald Lee Wilson of Panama City; four sisters: Shirley Eileen Davis and her husband Mike, Cynthia Jane Brown and her husband Rupert, Regina Lynn McCabe, and Stacy Ann Hammock, all of Panama City; three uncles: Horace Vernon Wilson and his wife Ethel of Glen Burnie, Md., Seabuh Manoogian and his wife Frances of Ocala, Fla., and Ross Manoogian of Abbeyville, N.Y.; seven nephews; nine nieces; three great-nephews; and four great-nieces. He was preceded in death by his mother, Shirley Faye Wilson. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, March 25, at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Fred Melvin and the Rev. Charles Key officiating. Interment will follow at Millville Cemetery. Asked to serve as active pallbearers are: Charles Kent, Micky King, Larry Wayne Adams, J. D. Winter Lee Bryant, 63, of Apalachicola, died on Saturday, March 18, 2000, at Flowers Hospital in Dothan, Ala. Living his life in Apalachicola, Mr. Bryant had been employed at various jobs over the years. He had also been employed with the City of Apalachicola. Survivors include five sons: Stephen Bryant of Apalachicola and Dell Bryant, Winter Lee Bryant Jr., Dwellie Bryant and Andrew Bryant, all of Tallahassee; three daughters: Ethyl Banks of Apalachicola, Valerie Jefferson and Patricia Ann Novis, both of Tallahassee; six step-sons: James Jackson and Benjamin Gudgar, both of Apalachicola, Joseph Lemons of Panama City, Emmett Brooks of Empire, La., John Gudger of Mosspoint, Miss., and Chris Gudger of Stark, Fla.; four step-daughters: Mary Lemons and Connie Richards of Apalachicola and Ivory Mae Green and Delores McGee of Tampa; one brother, Oliver Bryant of Tallahassee; his Godmother, Janis L. Shins of Apalachicola; many grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and sorrowing friends. Family will receive friends at the funeral home today, March 24, 5 to 8 p.m. (C.S.T.). Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, March 25 at 1:00 p.m. (C.S.T.) at The First Born Church of The Living God in Apalachicola.
