Interment will follow in Holly Hills Cemetery. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Roger Thomas, Tommy Wise, Ray Miller, Daniel Miller, John Rich and Glynn Shiver.

MARY CAROLINE WHITWORTH
Mrs. Mary Caroline Whitworth, age 94, of 238 Pine Ridge Drive, Panama City, Fla., died Thursday, April 6, 2000, at a local hospital. She had been a resident of the area since 1990 and was Methodist by faith. Mrs. Whitworth was a secretary for a doctors' office in Atlanta, Ga., for 33 years. She is survived by her husband, James O. Whitworth of Panama City; a son: Richard Thompson Whitworth and his wife Valarie of Malabar, Fla.; a brother, Sam D. Thompson Sr. and his wife Sara of Columbia, Ala.; two sisters, Elizabeth Weaver of Tallahassee and Blanche Thompson of Columbia, Ala.; three grandchildren; three nieces; two nephews; and several great nieces and nephews.

VENNYCE EMMANUEL BROOKS
Mr. Vennyce Emmanuel Brooks (Skip), 43, of 707 East 8th Court, Panama City, Fla., died September 1992. He was a graduate of Bay High School. He is survived by four brothers: the Rev. Timothy (Jill) Brooks, Mr. Titus (Julie) Houston of Jacksonville, Fla., Minister Dana Davis, Mr. James E. Houston Jr., Panama City; two sisters, Miss Angela Davis of Jacksonville and Miss Cynthia Houston of Panama City; five nieces: Tajuana, ReNesha, August, Shayna and Shimena; six nephews: Sean, Devon, Akayus, James III, Derric and Darin; one great-nephew, Michael; a devoted cousin, Ms. Josephine North; and a host of other loving relatives and friends. Memorial services for Mr. Brooks will be held on Tuesday, April 11, 2000 at 11 a.m. in St. John Baptist Church with the Rev. Rufus Woods Jr. officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends at the home of Ms. Josephine North of 3702 West 22nd Street.

MARY SUE DARNELL BROCK
Mary Sue Darnell Brock, Panama City Beach, Fla., died March 27, 2000 at her residence. She was a native of Corinth, Miss. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Burgess and Melissa McKewen Darnell; sister, Patsy Darnell Knight; and niece, Jo Ellen Knight Pharr. Mrs. Brock resided in Panama City Beach for 27 years and was a real estate broker for the past 17 years. She was a member of Gulf Beach Baptist Church, Panama City Beach. She is survived by her husband, James M. Brock, Panama City Beach; daughter and son-in-law, John and Rosemary Gatlin Vandiver, Tuscumbia, Ala.; son and daughter-in-law, Terry G. and Shannon Gatlin of Rienzi, Miss.; step-son, James Brock III, Nashville, Tenn.; brother, J. B. Darnell, Corinth, Miss.; two grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Graveside services were held March 30 at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church, Albertville, Ala. Memorial services will be held at Gulf Beach Baptist Church, 10621 Hutchison Blvd., Panama City Beach, Wednesday, April 12 at 10 a.m. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society or to Farmington Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, Corinth, Miss.

Mrs. Wanda L. Floyd, 63, of Harvest, Ala., died Thursday at Huntsville Hospital in Huntsville, Ala. Mrs. Floyd was a native of Madison County Ala., and was preceded in death by her son Rich Floyd. She is survived by her daughter, Kim Edmondson; son, Jeff Floyd, of East Limestone, Ala.; sister, Pat Dean of Little Rock, Miss.; brother, Bennie Lee of Valley Center, Kan.; and six grandchildren. Funeral services will be today at 1 p.m. in the Spry Funeral Home Chapel.

Funeral services for Mr. Frank King, 88, of Panama City will be conducted on Monday, April 10, 2000 at 10:30 a.m. in the Springfield Community with the Rev. J.W. Hunt officiating. GLADYS IRENE LAFFERTY
Gladys Irene Lafferty, formerly of Panama City, went to be with her Lord at the age of 91 on March 31, 2000 in Leesburg, Fla. Survivors included two daughters, Maxine Davis of Panama City Beach and Nancy Hampton of Leesburg; two sons, Harold G. Lafferty and Calvin E. Lafferty, both of Burlington, N.C.; 13 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren. Services and burial were held in Burlington, N.C., on April 4, 2000.

RAYMOND A PALOMBI
Mr. Raymond A. Palombi, 78, of 4319 Huckleberry Lane, Panama City, died Saturday, April 8, 2000 at his home. He has been a resident of the area since 1991, coming here from Kentucky. Mr. Palombi was Catholic by faith. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force in World War II and the Korean Conflict. Mr. Palombi is survived by his wife Mrs. Maggie Palombi of Panama City and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Rocco and Teressa Palombi; and a brother, Angelo Palombi. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 10, 2000 at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. R.C. Warren officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today, April 9, 2000 from 3 to 5 p.m.

GEORGE ABBOTT
Mr. George Abbott, 65, of 7814 Calhoun Ave., in Southport passed away Saturday, April 8, 2000 in a local hospital. He was a lifelong resident of Bay County. Mr. Abbott was of the Holiness faith, and served his country in the US Air Force. Mr. Abbott is survived by his wife Virginia Abbott of Southport; two sons, James Solomon Abbott and wife Molly of Marianna and Timothy Wayne Abbott of Southport; two daughters, Harriett Sinard and Kimberly Taylor, both of Callaway; sister, Mrs. Doris Richardson of Southport; 10 grandchildren; five nieces and three nephews. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday April 11 at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. J.W. Hunt officiating. Asked to serve as honorary pallbearers are Derrick Richardson, Eric Richardson, Sam Richardson, Destin Pettis, Jay Odom and Roger Kirkland. WENDALL 'ALLAN' BARFIELD
Mr. Wendall "Allan" Barfield, 36, of 14233 Mastro Lane in Southport, died Friday, April 7, 2000 at his sister's home in Southport. He was a lifelong resident of Panama City and was a truss-maker for Fagans Truss Co. for six years before his retirement due to an accident. He was also a member of Sand Hills Community Church. Mr. Barfield is survived by wife Marie "Toni" Barfield of Sand Hills, Fla.; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wendall Woodrow Barfield of East Point, Fla.; son, Christopher "Chris" Kirton of Sand Hills; daughter, LeAnn Kirton of Sand Hills; grandparents, John and Juanita Newell of Eastpoint; beloved mother and father-in-law, Doris Mastro and the late Joe Mastro Sr. of Southport; one brother, Michael Barfield and wife Shawn and son Phillip; two sisters, Darlene Shivers and husband Bob, Anna Waltman and husband Jason and son Brandon; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Joe Jr. and Debbie Mastro and children Joey, Patrick, Ashley and Megan, Brett and Suzi Schomer and children Jeff and Justin, Victor and Louise Mastro and children Joseph and Kristina, Doug and Shawn Helms and children Crystal, Lillian, Drew, and Anna; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, April 11, at 1 p.m. in the Southerland Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Donald W. Moon, the Rev. Nixon Miller and the Rev. Chris Kirton officiating. Internment will follow in the Old Southport Cemetery. MARION S. COOKIE POMEROY
Mr. Marion S. Cookie Pomeroy, 77, of 1407 Calhoun Ave., in Panama City, passed away Sunday, April 9, 2000 at his home. He was a resident of Bay County for 55 years. Mr. Pomeroy served his country in the US Navy, and retired as a civil serviceman for the Navy Lab. He was a Pearl Harbor survivor, member of the Pearl Harbor Survivors Association, member of the Hatten Ridge Hunting Club and member of the St. Andrew Baptist Church. Mr. Pomeroy is survived by his wife, Gwendolyn Pomeroy of Panama City; two daughters, Linda Curenton and husband Dwight, and Jessica Barron and husband Herb, all of Panama City; a son, William "Butch" Pomeroy of Panama City; seven grandchildren: Matt Curenton and wife Connie, Kevin Barron, Kendall Barron, Meaghan Pomeroy, Caleb Pomeroy, Joshua Pomeroy and Cessalei Hall; a sister, Ella Rae Poehls of Houston, Texas ; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 11, at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Hayes Davis and the Rev. Ron Gallagher officiating. Interment will follow at the Evergreen Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Asked to serve as active pallbearers are: Johnnie Harris, Michael Harris, Keith Haynes, Howard Fiser, Mike Boyette and Jamie Fiser. Honorary pallbearers will be the Pearl Harbor Survivors and their wives. The family will receive friends at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home today, April 10, from 6 to 8 p.m.
