Mrs. Janie Strickland died Friday at Akron City Hospital in Akron, Ohio.
Mrs. Strickland was a native and former resident of LaGrange
Local survivors include a brother, Wilbert Thornton of LaGrange; and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at Zion Temple Church in Akron with burial in Greenlawn cemetery in Akron.
Stewart and Calhoun Funeral Home in Akron is in charge of arrangements.

Jean Farmer
Mrs. Willie Jean Young Farmer of 3182 Cameron Mills Road died Saturday, Oct. 18, 2003, at Hospice LaGrange.
Mrs. Farmer, born Feb. 10, 1943, in Troup County, was the daughter of the late Willie Frank and Elizabeth Bessie Cameron Young. She was a 1960 honor graduate of Ethel W. Kight High School and was a member of Rising Grove Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son. Osmund Bernard Patterson of LaGrange; grandchildren, Shinika Patterson of Atlanta, Brittney S. Patterson and Adrian B. Patterson, all of LaGrange; a great - granddaughter, Shyenne Patterson of Atlanta; brothers and sisters, Willie, Robert, William, Reginald, and Rodney, Kelvin Young and Teresa Howard and Evangeline Young; a stepmother, Clara Young; and nieces nephews and other relatives.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Rising Grove Baptist Church on East Crovat Street with the Rev. Toby Young officiating. Burial will be in Southview Cemetery.
Lakes - Dunson - Robertson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Judith Whistnant
Judith Ann Whistnant, 60, of Pine Mountain died Monday at Decatur Hospital.
Mrs. Whistnant, born May 9, 1943, in Robertson County, N.C., was the daughter of Hillie and Myrtle Benson Cribb. She retired from Raeford Turkey Hatchery in Raeford, N.C., and was a member of Bethany Baptist Church in Pine Mountain.
Survivors include her huband, Larry Whistnant of Pine Mountain; a sister, Linda Tatum of Kodak, Tenn.; three brothers, Gilbert Cribb and Bill Cribb of Maxton, Tenn., and Charles Cribb of Cocoa, Fla.
Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 23, 2003, at Bethany Baptist Church with the Rev. Paul Fowler officiating.
In lieu of flowers, contributions mamy be made the the Harris County Chapter of the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 1382, Columbus, Ga. 31902.
Cox Funeral Home in Hamilton is in charge of arrangements.

Kathleen Hampson
Kathleen Donnelle (Dodie) Hampson, 39, of LaGrange died Tuesday at her home.
Born April 24, 1964, she had lived in Troup County all her life and was Baptist. She was a former employee of Signal Knitting Mill.
Survivors include a son and a daughter - in - law, Tristan and Jessica Allen of LaGrange; her father and stepmother, Richard and Brenda Hampson of Hogansville; two sisters and a brother - in - law, Dianne Holloway of LaGrange and Colleen and Terry Smith of Glenn; a brother and sister - in - law, Richard and Brandie Hampson of LaGrange; a grandmother, Vera Walden; and a granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her mother, Patricia Helms and grandparents, Grover Murphy, Roberta Hull and Merle Richard Hampson.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday evening from 7 until 9.

Nora G. Harris
Mrs. Nora G. Harris, 82, of LaGrange died Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2003, at Hospice LaGrange.
Mrs. Harris, born Jan. 5, 1921, in LaGrange, was the daughter of the late Joseph Putnam and Nora Staley Gunn. She had lived here all her life and was a homemaker. She was a member of Unity Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school, training union and bible school for more than 60 years. She was a charter member and past president of West Georgia Genealogical Society.
Survivors include two daughters and a son - in - law, Pamela Parmer and Sue Ellen and Billy Andrews, all of LaGrange; a son and daughter - in - law, Swain and Darlene Harris of Carrollton; eight grandchildren, Scott Parmer, Brandon Parmer, Benjamin Andrews and Mitch Andrews, all of LaGrange, Annie Andrews of Dahlonega, Kevin Harris, Benjamin Harris and Adrienne Harris, all of Carrollton; two sisters, Dora Dunn and Annie Gunn, both of LaGrange; a brother and sister - in - law, Dr. Willie and Marty Gunn of Swainsboro; and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Julian Swain Harris Sr., three sisters, Ida June Gunn, Mattie Joe Lowry and Gladys Boatner.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Unity Baptist Church with the Rev. Max McCord Officiating.
The family will be at the home of Sue Ellen and Billy Andrews at 2999 Hamilton Road and will receive friends at Hunter - Allen - Myhand Funeral Home this evening from 7 until 9.

Bessie B. Ayers
Bessie B. Ayers, 94, died Thursday. Nov. 13, 2003, at Florence Hand Home.
Mrs. Ayers, born Jan. 20, 1909, in Heard County, was the daughter of the late Charlie Ernest and Jettie Lee Betterton. She worked 12 years for Callaway Mills, 32 years for Dr. Avery, as a bookkeeper assistant for Drs. Rainey and Overall since 1969. She was a member of Long Cane United Methodist Church since 1970 where she was a member of United Methodist Women. She was past president of Troup County Home Demonstration Club and was state president in 1994.
Survivors include two sisters, Louise Clark of LaGrange ad Jenele Whitley of Roanoke Rapids, N.C.: two nieces and a nephews, Carolyn Thompson of Pine Mountain, Charles Clark of Dalton and Ella Collier of Snellville. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Cook Ayers, and a sister, Ernestine Still.
Funeral services will be Sunday at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Striffler - Hamby Mortuary with the Rev. Jerry Ledbetter officiating. Burial will be in Shadowlawn Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 1:30 p.m. until the funeral hour.

Frank Crawford
Frank Crawford, 92, of Hogansville, died Thursday at Hospice LaGrange.
Mr. Crawford, born Sept. 22, 1911, in Griffin, was the son of the late Will and Georgia Flynt Crawford. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and lived in Hogansville since 1945. He owned and operated Crawford Hardware Company for 35 years before his retirement. He was a deacon of First Baptist Church in Hogansville where he taught Sunday School for 39 years and was past president of the Hogansville Kiwanis Club. He was a former board member of the Harbor and was a former director of Hogansville Federal Savings and Loan. Association.
Survivors include his wife, Mildred Weaver Crawford of Hogansville; a son and daughter - in - law, Mickey and Linda Crawford; and three grandsons, Bill Crawford, Chase Crawford and Drew Crawford and his wife, Shaunna, all of Albany.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church in Hogansville with the Revs. John Mark Carpenter, Ted Sisk and Harold Willis officiating. Burial will be in Myrtle Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 307, Hogansville, Ga. 30230.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 this evening at Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville.

Mrs. Quintella Overcash, 77, of LaGrange died Thursday at West Georgia Medical Center.
Funeral services will be at 2:30 Saturday in the Hunter - Allen - Myhand chapel.
The family will receive friends this evening from 6:30 until 9.

Rev. Franklin Owens
Rev. Franklin J. Owens, of Elizabeth City, N.C. died Tuesday at Albermarle Hospital in Elizabeth City.
Local survivors include a niece and her husband, Ruth and George R. Moore of LaGrange.
The funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Elizabeth City State University fine arts building.
In lieu of flowers those desiring may contribute to the Franklin and Hannah Owens Scholarship Fund c/o S. Vendetta Owens Sutton, 1618 Brookridge Drive, Elizabeth City, N.C ., 27909.

Sarah G. Relihan
November 14, 2003

Mrs. Sarah Glanton Relihan, 80, died Thursday, Nov. 13, 2003 at Hospice LaGrange.
Mrs. Relihan was born at her family home, Cloverland, in LaGrange, the daughter of the late Thomas Abner and Rozelle Cleaveland Glanton. She graduated from Grantville High School and from the University of Georgia and did graduate work at LaGrange College and Auburn University. She retired from the LaGrange City School System after 25 years as an educator/media specialist. She was a devoted wife of 56 years and a loving mother. She was a former Girl Scout leader and past president of the Council of Catholic Women, worked with the clothing center of LaGrange as a volunteer, member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church since 1952, a past member of the LaGrange Woman’s Society and a member of the Retired Teachers Association. She was an avid gardener.
Survivors include her husband, Ray Relihan; a daughter, Nancy Relihan, both of LaGrange; a brother and sister - in - law, Thomas Abner and Juliette (Judy) Baker Glanton of Newnan; a sister, Rozelle Glanton of Grantville; a sister - in - law, Regis Relihan Perry of Rutland Vt., a niece, Sharon Glanton Meltzer of Newnan; a nephew and his wife, Thomas Pettis and Linda Glanton of Kennesaw; two great nieces, Wynn Glanton Gresham of Carrollton and Judith Meltzer Leib of West Hills, Calif.; two great - nephews, David Malcom of Thomasville, and Thomas Miller Glanton of Carrollton; and several great - great nieces and great - great nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, John Dennis Relihan; a brother, Ralph Glanton; and a sister, Mary Glanton White.
The funeral mass will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 15, 2003 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church.
A rosary will be at 7:15 this evening at Striffler - Hamby Mortuary at 1010 Mooty Bridge Road. The family will receive friends following the rosary.
Flowers will be accepted or those desiring may contribute to St. Peter’s Catholic Church or Hospice LaGrange in memory of Mrs. Relihan.

Charlie J. McCamey
Charlie Jack McCamey, formerly of LaGrange, died Wednesday at South Fulton Hospital.
Local survivors include a sister, Josephine Sellers; three brothers, Gene, George and Jimmy McCamey; an aunt, Louise McDowell, all of LaGrange; and nieces, nephews ad cousins of the McCamey, Thornton, Hardy Whitfield, Franklin and Lovelace families.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at Friendship Baptist Church on Mitchell Street in Atlanta with the Rev. William Guy officiating. Burial will be in Lincoln Cemetery.
Carl Williams Funeral Home in Atlanta is in charge of arrangements.
