Dorothy Ragsdale Mulligan
Dorothy Ragsdale Mulligan, age 80, of McDonough, Georgia died December 31, 2005. Mrs. Mulligan was born October 4, 1925 in Trafford, Alabama, the daughter of the late Nannie Sue Monney and Alfred B. Ragsdale. She was preceded in death by her brothers, J.D. Ragsdale and Ray S. Ragsdale.
She is survived by her husband, Carl S. Mulligan Jr. of McDonough; children, Joann Phillips (Frank) of Newnan, Charles R. Williams (Chryle), Peggy Holder, and Debbie Elwell (Rusty), all of McDonough; stepchildren, Tony Mulligan of McDonough, Elaine Konvicka (Bobby) of Union City, and Gail Wynn of Milner; 16 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; sister, Helen Tatum of Clarksville; nieces and nephews.
Services were held December 3 in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home, with Rev. Kenneth Gray officiating. Interment Haisten/ Eastlawn Memorial Park. Haisten Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Reid Whisnant
Reid Whisnant, age 70, of Stockbridge, Georgia died December 31, 2005. Mr. Whisnant
was born in Shelby, North Carolina, the son of the late Theodore Roosevelt Whisnant and Katie Lou McKee Whisnant. He was the owner and operator of Whisnant Contracting in Stockbridge and of the Baptist Faith. He was an avid race fan; he loved Drag Racing. Most important to him was his family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son and brother. He was preceded in death by his brother, Wayne Whisnant.
He is survived by his wife, Bobbie; his mother, Katie Lou Whisnant of Stockbridge; sons, Danny Reid Whisnant, Terry Rodney Whisnant, Tommy Gene Whisnant, all of Stockbridge, Joseph Shad (Jennifer) Whisnant of Jenkinsburg, Mark Lindsey (Gina) Whisnant of Stockbridge; sister, Lavonda Ruth Lyle, Stockbridge; brother, Bobby Lyle of Stockbridge; 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren
Services were held January 3 in the chapel of Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors. Entombment Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Earnest Vivian Douglas
Earnest Vivian Douglas, age 82, of McDonough, Georgia died January 1, 2006. Mr. Douglas was born July 28, 1923 in Chesterfield, South Carolina, the son of the late Pearl Kendrick and Duncan Vivian Douglas. He was a member of Bethany Baptist Church, served his country in the U.S. Army in WWII, and retired as a transit operator. He enjoyed camping, fishing, the outdoors, nature, and reading. He was preceded in death by a son, Stephen Craig Douglas; sisters, Vera Odom and Emma Rivers; and a brother, Alger Douglas.
He is survived by his loving wife, Edna Lawhorn Douglas of McDonough; daughter and son-in-law, Donna Lee and Donnie Alsup of Knoxville, Tennessee; brother, Aubrey Douglas of Wadesboro, North Carolina; stepchildren, Bryan Alsup of Knoxville, Tennessee, and Brad Alsup of Washington D.C.; nieces and nephews.
Services were held January 4 in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home. Interment Haisten/ Eastlawn Memorial Park. Haisten Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Sarah Johnston Carmichael
Sarah Johnston Carmichael, age 94, of McDonough, Georgia died January 2, 2006. Mrs. Carmichael was born March 23, 1911 in Palmetto, the daughter of the late William Hardaway and Myrtie Givens Johnston. She grew up in Palmetto and graduated from Palmetto High School in 1927. She furthered her education at Georgia State College for Women of Milledgeville, where she earned her teaching degree. She taught elementary school until her marriage in 1935 to Harvey Brown, who preceded her in death. In 1952 she married Henry Benjamin (H.B.) Carmichael of McDonough, to whom she was married for 41 years. Mr. Carmichael, and his brother, Cam, owned and operated Carmichael Hosiery Mill in McDonough for many years. Mr. Carmichael preceded her in death in 1993. Mrs. Carmichael had the distinction of being one of the first female deacons in McDonough Presbyterian Church, where she was a member for 54 years and was the oldest person on the roster. She loved life and people and was an inspiration to her family, friends, and all who knew her.
She is survived by her brother-in-law, Robert M. Penland, Jr. of Decatur; numerous nieces, nephews, and their children and grandchildren.
Services were held January 5 in the chapel of Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors, with Rev. David Hay officiating. Interment McDonough City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee, 38105; or Victory Home, P.O. Box 7, Tallulah, Geoergia, 30573. William J. Owen
William J. “Bill” Owen, age 72, of McDonough, Georgia died January 2, 2006. Mr. Owen was born February 24, 1933 in Buford, the son of the late Clara Lou Stargell and William Clyde Owen. He retired after 30 years with the U.S. Post Office and was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
He is survived by his wife, Claudette Owen; sons and daughters-in-law, Todd and Michelle Owen of Locust Grove, Lloyd and Jamie Owen of Oregon City, Oregon; grandchildren, Seth, Hannah, and Grace Owen; brothers and sisters-in-law, W.C. Owen of Rome, Larry and Liz Owen of Sarasota, Florida, Cary and Norma Owen of Lawrenceville; nieces and nephews.
Services were held January 5 in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home, with Rev. Gary Lewis officiating. Contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in memory of Mr. Owen. Haisten Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Berta Daniels
Berta Daniels, age 80, of Stockbridge, Georgia died January 2, 2006.
Mrs. Daniels is survived by her son, Mark Daniels of Stockbridge.
Services were held January 4 at Fairview Memorial Gardens, with Rev. Jeff Helenza officiating. Willis S. McKiness
Willis S. McKiness, age 82, of Stockbridge, Georgia died January 4, 2006. Mr. McKiness was honorably discharged after serving his country in WWII. He will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife, Thelma June McKiness; daughter, Joyce Lewis (Robert) of DeKalb, Illinois; sons, Gary B. McKiness (Peggy) of Stockbridge, Wayne E. McKiness (Stephanie), Temecula, Califor-nia, Rodney M. McKiness of DeKalb, Illinois; daughters, Karen L. Preston of McDonough, Wanda G. Bond (Robert) of Lufkin, Texas ; 17 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; brothers, Ralph McKiness, Aubrey Carl McKiness; and sister, Louise Evans. Memorial donations may be made to your favorite charity. A private family service will be held later. Horis A. Ward Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Ann Mitchell Schoonover
Ann Mitchell Schoonover, age 71, of Hampton, Georgia died December 23, 2005. Mrs. Schoonover was born March 4, 1934 in Henry County, the daughter of the late Mary Pauline Swann and James Walter Mitchell. She was a member of Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church, had retired from Delta Airlines with 33 years of service. She enjoyed her family, traveling, gardening and antiques. She was preceded in death by her husband, George L. Schoonover in 1979; and a brother, William (Billy) Mitchell in 1981.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, James W. and Jody Schoonover of McDonough; grandchildren, James, Matthew, and Taylor Schoonover of McDonough; stepgrandchildren, Tiffany and Tony Montgomery; sisters, Sara Lou Doughty of Jonesboro, Margerite Fuller of Jonesboro, and Eleanor Camp of Kennesaw; numerous nieces and nephews.
Services were held December 27 at Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church. Interment Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church Cemetery. Haisten Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Lawrence Michael Stroup
Lawrence "Larry" Michael Stroup, age 60, of McDonough, Georgia died December 24, 2005. Mr. Stroup was born November 29, 1945 in Cincinnati, Ohio, the son of the late Nina Jeanette Bryson and William Leslie Stroup. He enjoyed his family, working, reading, horses, football and fishing.
He is survived by his loving wife, Carolyn Stroup of McDonough; children, Eric Adnee Stroup (Amy) of Minnesota, Erin Marie Wilson (Donald) of Ohio, Kendra Anne Urias (Jose) of Texas ; great-grandchildren, Madison Wilson, Abigael Stroup, Alexander Urias, Noah Urias, Sierra Wilson and Lauren Stroup; sisters, Carolyn Newcomb and Norma Crowley, both of Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
Services were held December 28 in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home, with Rev. Andrew Reagan officiating. In lieu of flowers those who wish may make donations to the Georgia Transplant Foundation or to your local No Kill Animal Shelter. Haisten Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
