The funeral will be at 1 p.m. today at Pierce Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Eddie Key officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery" target="_blank">cemetery.

Survivors include one nephew, James Hunter.

Ms. Joann H. Davis, 50, of 3573 Ray Owens Road, Appling, died Friday, May 8, 1998, at St. Joseph Hospital, Augusta.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at First Mount Carmel Baptist Church with the Rev. Roscoe F. Perry officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery" target="_blank">cemetery.

Ms. Davis, a native of Appling, was a former domestic worker and a member of First Mount Carmel Baptist Church.

Survivors include a son, Ainsley Davis; her mother, Essie Mae Marshall; six brothers, Roy Willingham Jr., Cleo Willingham, John David Tankersley, Allen Marshall, Daniel Marshall and Mitchel Marshall; four sisters, Amanda Cummings, Dyeann Sias, Julia Roberson and Lillie Bell; and one grandchild.

Friends may call at Crawford Mortuary, or after the burial at the church fellowship hall.

Mrs. Lucky Fry

Homemaker

HARLEM -- Mrs. Lucky Fry, 82, of 275 Paschal St., died Saturday, May 9, 1998, at Dwight D. Eisenhower Army Medical Center, Fort Gordon.

Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Bellevue Memorial Gardens, Grovetown, with the Rev. Eddie O'Connor officiating.

Mrs. Fry, a native of Weatherford, Texas, was a homemaker and a member of the Thomson Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary. She was a member of Queen of Angels Catholic Church.

Survivors include her husband, Ernest Fry; and a daughter, Bobbie Walling, Thomson.

Friends may call at the residence of Bobbie Walling, 2525 Ginger Hill Estates, Thomson, or at Curtis Funeral Home, Thomson.

Mrs. Addie Hallman

LANGLEY -- Mrs. Addie Smith Hallman, 95, of 105 Oneal Drive, died Friday, May 8, 1998, at Aiken Regional Medical Centers.

The funeral will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Hatcher Funeral Home with the Revs. Ron Doss and Albert C. Atkinson Sr. officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memory Gardens, Graniteville.

Mrs. Hallman, a native of Batesburg, had lived in Langley most of her life. She was a homemaker and a member of Pine Forest Baptist Church, where she attended Sunday school.

Survivors include a son, Oneal Hallman, Langley; a brother, Grover C. Smith, Batesburg; two sisters, Annie Boatwright and Sarah Belle Hartley, both of Batesburg; and two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Jason Blackmon, Bill Wheeler, Asbury Bedenbough, James Wheeler, Ken Screws and Clarence Wheeler.

Memorials may be made to Pine Forest Baptist Church, P.O. Box 97, Langley, SC 29834.

Friends may call at the residence of Oneal Hallman, 103 Oneal Drive.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Mr. Carlton Jenkins

FORT PIERCE, Fla. -- Mr. Carlton Jenkins, 34, of 2307 N. 45th St., died Friday, May 1, 1998, at Lawnwood Regional Medical Center.

Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Monday at Bark Camp Baptist Church cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery, Midville, Ga.

Mr. Jenkins, a native of Fort Pierce, was a graduate of Westwood High School and a citrus farm laborer. He was a member of Second Bynes Grove Baptist Church, Waynesboro, Ga.

Survivors include two sons, Carl Christopher Jenkins, Opalocka, and Phillip Oliver Jenkins, Fort Pierce; his mother, Alice Jenkins, Orlando; three brothers, James E. Jenkins Sr., Waynesboro, Herbert James Jackson, Bellport, N.Y., and Mike Raymond Alomar, Orlando; five sisters, Rose Fletcher and Michelle Gooden, both of Orlando, Alice Jackson-Hunt and Cheryl Burns, both of Red Spring, N.C., and Theresa Bacon, Fort Pierce; and his maternal grandfather, George Jackson Sr., Waynesboro.

Pallbearers will be friends of the family.

Mr. Loye Johnson Sr.

Retired electrician

GARFIELD, Ga. -- Mr. Loye Ervin Johnson Sr., 68, died Saturday, May 9, 1998, at Emanuel Medical Center.

The funeral will be at 4 p.m. Monday at Garfield First Baptist Church with the Rev. Gene Sego and Gary Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Hebron Primitive Baptist Church cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery.

Mr. Johnson, a native of Emanuel County, had retired from Swainsboro Print Works as an electrician. He was a member of Garfield Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Reba Turner Johnson; two sons, Loye Ervin Johnson Jr., North Augusta, and Alan Johnson, Norristown; four daughters, Vicki Yates and Christy Landon, both of Garfield, Joyce Ann Turner, Metter, and Patricia Sparks, Warner Robins; two sisters, Vela Mae Cumbee, Twin City, and Cleo Walls, Evans; and 15 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Pallbearers will be Derwin Johnson, Dennis Johnson, Tommy Cumbee, Jeff Cumbee, John Walls, Doye Walls, Bobby Johnson, Travis Johnson and Nicky Johnson.

Peebles-Curry-Durden Mortuary, Swainsboro, is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Virgil Kirkland

Retired textile worker

SALUDA, S.C. -- Mr. Virgil Alfred Kirkland, Route 5, Butler Road, died Friday, May 8, 1998, in Saluda Nursing Center.

Mr. Kirkland, a native of Saluda County, had retired from Milliken as a textile worker, and had worked with the Saluda County Council on Aging. He was a veteran of the National Guard and a member of Red Bank Baptist Church.

Survivors include a son, Robert V. Kirkland, Greenville; two daughters, Rita K. McCormick, Trenton, and Janice K. Rowe, Saluda; a sister, Faye K. Trotter, Saluda; and five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Mr. Robert Kitchens

HEPHZIBAH -- Mr. Robert Lee ``R.L." Kitchens, 63, of 2048 Hephzibah-McBean Road, died Friday, May 8, 1998, at University Hospital.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Elliott Sons Funeral Home, Lumpkin Road, with the Rev. Charlie Pennington officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Mr. Kitchens, a native of Augusta, had retired as an electrician and was a member of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers No. 1579. He was a Navy veteran and a member of Berean Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Peggy Kitchens; three sons, Robert Lee Kitchens Jr. and Ty Wade, both of Augusta, and Trevor Kitchens, Evans; two daughters, Angela Bowser, North Augusta, and Tiffany Wade, Hephzibah; a sister, Mary Gray, Blythe; and nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Pete Laisey, Dean Tyner, Barry Videtto, Roy Stampley, Pete Sanders and Tom Nevelle.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers No. 1579.

Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association, 3630 J. Dewey Gray Circle, Augusta, GA 30909.

Mr. Fred Newton Sr.

Retired electrician

Mr. Fred Ray Newton Sr., 77, of 1204 Azalea Drive, died Friday, May 8, 1998, at Columbia Augusta Medical Center.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m Tuesday at Elliott Sons Funeral Home, Lumpkin Road, with the Rev. Guy S. Campbell officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Mr. Newton, a native of Augusta, had retired as an electrician and was a 32-year employee of Riverside Mill and a 17-year employee of University Hospital plant engineering. He was a member of Pineview Baptist Church.

His family said he was a loving husband, father and grandfather and enjoyed camping and fishing, enjoyed being an electrician and sharing his vocation with others, liked by everyone.

Survivors include his wife, Ethel L. Newton; two sons, Fred R. Newton Jr., Augusta, and Ronald E. Newton Sr., Appling; a daughter, Deborah Newton Johnston, Augusta; three sisters, Margaret Newton Black and Tiny Perry, both of Augusta, and Betty Newton Eubanks, North Augusta; and three grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Danny Eubanks, Mitchell Eubanks, Butch Johnston, Greg Johnson, William E. Edwards and Tommy Eubanks.

Honorary pallbearers will be employees of University Hospital Plant Engineering Services.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 5 p.m. today and from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Elene Royal

Mrs. Royal, a native of Richland County, S.C., was a homemaker and a member of Big Horse Creek Baptist Church.

Survivors include two sons, Pete Royal and Riley Royal, both of Millen; three daughters, Jewel Bevel and Patsy Lane, both of Thomaston, and Joyce Thompson, Millen; and nine grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be grandsons and nephews.

Friends may call until noon Monday at Crowe-Fields Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
