Zackery Lee Hackney Carter, 23, of the Rosalie Community in Pisgah, Ala., died July 21 in Rosalie. He was employed by Tulox Plasitcs in Ider, Ala., and a member of Merton Avenue Baptist Church in Memphis, Tenn. Survivors include father Zack Carter, Rosalie, Ala.; mother Sylvia Miller, Memphis, Tenn.; fiance Natasha Fisher, Rainsville; brother Anthony Carter, Chattanooga; sister Farrah Maxwell, Cookeville, Tenn. Funeral services were held July 23 in Kerby Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Briggs King and the Rev. Bud Durham officiating. Interment was in New Home Baptist Church cemetery in Rosalie, Ala. Arrangements were by Kerby Funeral Home in Henagar, Ala.

W.D. CORDELL

W.D. "Bud" Cordell, 71, of Flat Rock, Ala., died July 25 in Jackson County Hospital in Scottsboro, Ala. He was a member of the Flat Rock United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Flat Rock Ruritan Club, Flat Rock PTA and served as an auxiliary officer with the Jackson County Sheriff's Department. He also served in the U.S. Navy and was retired as a self-employed timber logger. Cordell was preceded in death by parents Hobert and Dimple Cordell. Survivors include wife Imogene Cordell, Flat Rock, Ala.; daughter Karen Cordell, Powell, Ala.; son Jon Cordell, Section, Ala.; step-son Douglas Caldwell, Jamestown, N.C.; brother Jimmy Cordell, Fort Payne, Ala.; sister Edna Shelton, Ooltewah, Tenn.; and seven grandchildren. Funeral services were held July 27 in Kerby Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Johnny Ellison and the Rev. Leldon Hardin officiating. Interment was in Smith cemetery in Flat Rock, Ala. Arrangements were by Kerby Funeral Home in Henagar, Ala.

BRIDGET HAWKINS

Bridget Starr Hawkins, 18, of Ider, Ala., died July 27 at Vanderbilt Medical Center. She was a 2002 graduate of Dade County High School and a member of Five Points Baptist Church. Hawkins was preceded in death by grandmother Geraldean Hawkins. Survivors include mother Freda Conner, Ider, Ala.; father, Eddie Hawkins, Ider, Ala.; grandparents Billy and Susie Shaw, Flat Rock, Ala., and John Hawkins, Henagar, Ala.; step-sister Shelby Hawkins; half-brother Seth Hawkins, step-sister Olivia Conner; step-brother Austin Conner; several aunts, uncles and cousins; and special friends Emily Gray and Kyle Hartline. Funeral services were held today at 3 p.m. in Corner Stone Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Johnny Ellison officiating. Interment will follow in Fuller Cemetery. Arrangements were by Corner Stone Funeral Chapel in Ider, Ala.

JOHNNY BROWN

Johnny Floyd Brown, 28, of Pisgah, Ala., died Nov. 21 in Scottsboro, Ala. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was empoyed by ICB Electronics in Scottsboro, Ala. Brown was preceded in death by grandfathers James Rollins and Lonnie Brown. Survivors include father Lawrence Brown, Pisgah, Ala.; mother Rose Waldon, Jasper, Ala.; godson Alon Larr; brothers James Brown, Rainsville, Ala., Tommy Brown, Pisgah, Ala.; sister Kimberly Walker, Scottsboro, Ala.; grandmothers Jessie Brown, Pisgah, Ala., Daisy Rollins, Rossville; and two nephews and two nieces. Funeral services were held Nov. 24 in Kerby Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Rex Williams officiating. Internment was in Friendship cemetery in Pisgah, Ala. Arrangements were by Kerby Funeral Home in Henagar, Ala.

LINDA CROSS

Linda Fay Cross, 48, of Trenton died Nov. 16 at her home. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. Cross was preceded in death by parents Defell and Mary Pemberton. Survivors include husband Eddie Cross; son and daughter-in-law Josh and Amy Millican; grandson Isaac Millican, all of Higdon, Ala.; sisters Wilma Vann, Bryant, Ala., Imogene Smith, Trenton, Peggy Walker, Ider, Ala.; brothers J.C. Pemberton, Bradenton, Fla., John Pemberton, Memphis, Tenn., Troy Pemberton, Bridgeport, Ala.; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Nov. 20 in Moore Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Aaron Britt officiating. Interment was in Oak Lawn Memorial Park. Arrangements were by Moore Funeral Home in Bryant, Ala.

MOLLIE GOLDEN

Mollie Ozema Golden, 88, of Rossville, formerly of Henagar, Ala., died Nov. 23 in the Nursing Home Care Center at Fort Oglethorpe. She was retired from Samuel Stamping and Enamel Roper Corp., in Chattanooga. She was a member of the Henagar Methodist Church. Golden was preceded in death by parents Jessie and Susie Rucks Monroe, husband Lenomar Golden, daughter Linda Pruitt, and son Larry Golden. Survivors include sons Arthur Golden, Rossville, Danny Golden, Greenbay, Wisc.; brothers Chester Monroe, Henagar, Ala., Geen Edward and David Monroe, all of Fyffe, Ala., Lynn Monroe, West Virginia; sisters Dessie Portwood, Chattanooga, Idell Runyan, Summerville; eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Nov. 26 in Kerby Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Kenneth Hall officiating. Interment was in Green Haven Memorial Gardens in Pisgah, ala. Arrangements were by Kerby Funeral Home in Henagar, Ala.

ALVIN LILES

Roy Alvin Liles, 61, of Pisgah, Ala., died Nov. 22 at his residence. He was a Vietnam veteran serving in the Army and retired from Shaw Industries. Survivors include wife Rosemary Liles; daughter Maryellen Boyd; sons and daughters-in-law Mark and Gail Hollis, Mathew and Judie Hollis, all of Pisgah, Ala.; brother Charles Liles Jr., Summerville; sister Joyce Atkins, Summerville; grandchildren, Andy, Christy and Crystal Baker, Dustin Thackerson, Stephanie, Katrina, Ashley and Shana Hollis, Will Wooten and Tony Graben; great-grandchildren Kelsey and Brent Baker, Reagan Hollis and Morgan Thackerson. Funeral services were held Nov. 25 in Corner Stone Chapel with the Rev. Glenn York and the Rev. Michael Hughes officiating. Interment was in Fuller cemetery with military honors. Arrangements were by Corner Stone Funeral Chapel in Ider, Ala.

CARL MCMAHAN

Carl McMahan, 56, of Rising Fawn died Nov. 22 at his residence. He was a retired machinist and a member of the Rising Fawn Church of God. Survivors include wife Helen McMahan of Rising Fawn; sons Scott McMahan, Trenton, and Ronnie Tipton, Henagar, Ala.; daughters Sandy McMahan, Rising Fawn, Donna Pierce, Valley Head, Ala.; mother Pallie McMahan, Rising Fawn; sisters Junelia Fisher, Marie Stincel, Pauline McCarty, all of Rising Fawn, and Jo Ann Durham, Trenton; brothers Smokey McMahan, Fort Payne, Ala., Doug and Ronnie McMahan, both of Valley Head, Ala., George McMahan, Jr., Trenton; nine grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Nov. 24 in Ryan Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dean Sims officiating. Interment was in Hanna cemetery in Rising Fawn. Arrangements were by Ryan Funeral Home in Trenton.

Ila Moore Orr, 84, of Lexington, S.C., formerly of Henagar, Ala., died Nov. 15 in Columbia, S.C. Survivors include daughter and son-in-law Rita and Carl hatcher, Lexington, S.C.; son and daughter-in-law Russell and Dorinda Orr, Jacksonville, Ala.; brother Lonnie Moore, Henagar, Ala.; sister Annie Roach, Conyers; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Nov. 19 in Kerby Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Clinton Graham officiating. Interment was in Henagar Cemetery. Arrangements were by Kerby Funeral Home in Henagar, Ala.

Ruby Smith, 94, of Henagar, Ala., died Nov. 21 at her residence. Survivors include sister Edna Smith Morris, Henagar, Ala.; nephews James and Maurice Smith, both of Henagar, Ala.; niece Donna Smith, Henagar, Ala.; great-nephews, Jacob Maurice and Elijah Smith, both of Henagar, Ala. Funeral services were held Nov. 23 in Kerby Funeral Home Chapel. Interment was in New Home cemetery in Henagar, Ala. Arrangements were by Kerby Funeral Home in Henagar, Ala.

WINNIE YOUNG

Winnie Young, 74, of Henagar, Ala., died Nov. 23 at her residence. Survivors include husband Paul Young; sons Bill Young, Dutton, Ala., Terry Fults, Madison, Tenn.; daughters and sons-in-law Cindy and Alan Duncan, Flat Rock, Ala., Robin and Randy Robertson, Dutton, Ala.; half-brother Hugh Seals, South Carolina; half-sister Linda Lackey, Harrison, Tenn.; step-mother Lucille Seals, Cleveland, Tenn.; grandchildren Anna Young, Andrew and Ashley Duncan, Alana Smith, Kyle and Courtney Robertson, Eric, Jessie and Brandon Fults; and great-grandchildren Ansley Smith and Eric Fults Jr. Funeral services were held Nov. 25 in Corner Stone Chapel with the Rev. J. M. Sparks and the Rev. Jimmy Shankles officiating. Interment was in Unity Cemetery. Arrangements were by Corner Stone Funeral Chapel in Ider, Ala.

RANDY GIFFORD

Randy Clay Gifford, 53, of Trenton died Feb. 2 at his residence. Gifford was preceded in death by his father Leonard Gifford. Survivors include mother Martha Gifford of Trenton; son and daughter-in-law Jason and Crystal Prince, Trenton; brother and sister-in-law Joe and Teresa Gifford, Chattanooga; brother Frankie Gifford Trenton; sisters and brothers-in-law Frances and Tim Garner, Mary Ann and David Garner, Loretta and Larry Avans, Gloria and Johnny Thurman, all of Trenton, Sharon and Chad Brown, Wildwood; and grandchildren Bessy and Electra Prince. Funeral services were held Feb. 7 in Corner Stone Chapel with the Rev. O.A. Bethune officiating. Interment was in Baptist cemetery in Trenton. Arrangements were by Corner Stone Funeral Chapel in Ider, Ala.

ALLEN HOLTZHOWER

Allen Lee Holtzhower, 54, of New Salem died Feb. 7. He was employed with the Georgia Department of Transportation in Trenton. He was also a farmer and a member of the Tri-State Cattlemen's Association, Dade County 4-H and Young Farmers. Holtzhower was preceded in death by father Arvlee Holtzhower; step-father Charles Roberts; grandparents Walter and Fannie Moore, B.W. and Willie Holtzhower. Survivors include wife Sheila Holtzhower; daughter and son-in-law Brooke and Lee Chappelear, New Salem; daughter Nicole Holtzhower, New Salem; mother Edna Roberts, Rossville; sisters and brothers-in-law Sue and Richard Hudson, Red Bank, Tenn., Debbie and Todd Cannon, Rossville; brother and sister-in-law Eddie and Loretta Holtzhower, Soddy Daisy, Tenn.; granddaughter Bree Chappelear; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held today at 11 a.m. in Moore Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. M.C. Tolbert officiating. Interment will follow in Hawkins Cemetery. Arrangements were by Moore Funeral Home in Trenton.

MATTIE HONEA

Mattie Jane Honea, 90, of Ider, Ala., died Feb. 7 at her residence. Honea was preceded in death by husband Brice Honea. Survivors include son Dwight Honea, Meridian, Miss.; daughters and sons-in-law Jimmie Ann and Harold Chapman, Ider, Ala., Iva and Bob Cargo, Montgomery, Ala.; grandchildren Melessa and Greg Hodge, Ralieh, N.C., Vickie and Jason Shamblin, Birmingham, Ala., Chas Honea, Meridian, Miss.; great-grandchildren, Hilary and Harrison Hodge, Ryan Shamblin. Funeral services were held Feb. 9 in Corner Stone Chapel with the Rev. Chris Guinn officiating. Interment was in Fuller Cemetery. Arrangements were by Corner Stone Funeral Chapel in Ider, Ala.

SALLIE PAGE

Sallie Mae Page, 84, of Trenton died Feb. 5 in a local hospital. She was a lifelong resident of Trenton and a retired beautician. She was a member of Senior Ladies Sunday School class and a charter member of Trenton First Baptist Church. Survivors include several nieces and nephews. A memorial service was held Feb. 8 in Moore Funeral Home Chapel with brother Eddie Cantrell and brother Robert Goff officiating. Memorial contributions can be made to the Trenton First Baptist Church building fund. Arrangements were by Moore Funeral Home in Trenton.

JEREMY SMITH

Jeremy Steve "Smitty" Smith, 26, of Higdon, Ala., died Feb. 3. Smith was preceded in death by father William Steve Smith, grandfather Walter Higdon, and grandparents William and Ena Smith. Survivors include mother Sheila Smith and grandmother Mary Higdon, both of Higdon, Ala. Funeral services were held Feb. 7 in Moore Funeral Home Chapel with the brothers Larry Walker, Edwin Spurgeon, and Royce Cornelison officiating. Interment was in Higdon Cemetery. Arrangements were by Moore Funeral Home in Bryant, Ala.

HAROLD BROGDON

Billy Harold Brogdon, 50, of Chattanooga died March 21. Brogdon was preceded in death by grandfather Lester Roberson, father Woody Brogdon, brother Bobby Brogdon, and son Terry Brogdon. Survivors include mother Clara Brogdon; sisters Susie McCord and Roberta Brock; brothers Willie and Clarence Brogdon; wife Jean Fisk; daughter Kelly Brogdon; step-sons Keith and Kris Baggett; granddaughter Caitlyn Brogdon; grandson Brighten Brogdon; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held March 26 in Turner Funeral Home Chapel. Interment was in Greenwood cemetery in Chattanooga. Arrangements were by Turner Funeral Home in Chattanooga.

Clara Mae Wheeler Campbell, 73, formerly of Trenton died March 22 at her home in Hixson, Tenn. Campbell was preceded in death by parents William and Clara Wheeler. Survivors include husband Ralph Campbell; daughter and sons-in-law Kay and Troy Holt, Trenton; daughter Gail Hubler, Gulfport, Miss.; son Terry Campbell, West Palm Beach, Fla.; son and daughter-in-law Gary and Beth Campbell, Soddy Daisy, Tenn.; sisters Billie West, Carol Fossett, both of Trenton; many grandchildren; several great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held March 24 in Tenn. Highway 58 Chapel of Turner Funeral Home with the Rev. Jimmy Hixon officiating. Interment was in Chattanooga Memorial Park. Arrangements were by Turner Funeral Homes in Chattanooga.

EVA CARTER

Eva Pauline "Polly" Carter, 72, of Dutton, Ala., died on March 24 at her residence following an extended illness. She was born May 31, 1931 in McMinville, Tenn., to the late Claude and Nellie Duncan. She married Leonard Carter Jr., in 1947. Carter was preceded in death by husband Leonard Carter Jr. Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law Diane and Billy Howse of Pisgah, Ala., Susie and Richard Southerland of Fort Payne, Ala.; son and daughters-in-law Michael and Juda Carter, Gadsden, Ala.; son Glenn Carter, Dutton, Ala.; brothers and sisters-in-law Clyde and Pearl Duncan of Atlanta, Roy and Betty Duncan of Louisville, Ky.; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; special friends, Margaret and Byron Brown, and Sue Bramblett. Funeral services were held March 26 in Kerby Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Charles Smith and the Rev. Randy Brown officiating. Interment was in Dutton Methodist Cemetery. Arrangements were by Kerby Funeral Home in Henagar, Ala.

RUTH STEVENS

Ruth Ivy Stevens, 80, of Trenton died March 27 following an illness. She was of the Baptist faith. Stevens was preceded in death by parents John and Mary Wood, five brothers and four sisters. Survivors include husband Hillard Stevens; daughters Patricia Melton, Trenton, Kim Donahue, Ooltewah, Tenn.; sons Allen and Kenny Stevens, both of Trenton; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held March 29 in Moore Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bud Russell officiating. Interment was in Gib-Dock Cemetery. Arrangements were by Moore Funeral Home in Trenton.

Verbie "R.C." Thurmond, 69, of Pisgah, Ala., died March 21 at his residence. He was a member of Kings Chapel Baptist Church in Pisgah, Ala. Thurmond was preceded in death by parents Riley and Launer Thurmond, wife Linda Thurmond, son Rayburn Thurmond, step-daughter Martha David, brothers Wilbur, Berlon, and Berthel Thurmond, sisters Ester Holcomb and Miley Owens, and grandson Justin Smith. Survivors include step-sons Bobby Smith, Pisgah, Ala., Terry Smith, Henagar, Ala.; step-daughter Mary Thornhill, Rosalie, Ala.; brother Arlon Thurmond; nine grandchildren. Funeral services were held March 23 in Kerby Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Doc butler and the Rev. Buddy Keith officiating. Interment was in Friendship cemetery in Pisgah, Ala. Arrangements were by Kerby Funeral Home in Henagar, Ala.

Robert "Bob" A. Christiansen, 65, of Marietta died May 29. He was a member of the Friendship Assembly of God Church in Marietta. Christiansen was preceded in death by father Arthur Christiansen and sister Barbara O'Connell. Survivors include his Annette Christiansen, Marietta; son Rob Christiansen, Marietta; daughter and son-in-law Charlene and Jack Long, Bryant, Ala., Erin and Kenneth Salmon, Chickamauga; daughters Anna Christiansen, Marietta, Erika Christiansen, Galax, Va.; sisters Sharon Berkland, Eau Claire, Wisc., Veronica Gregory, Rogersk Ark.; mother June Christiansen, Rogers, Ark.; three grandchildren. Funeral services were held June 1 in Kerby Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Wendell Nichols officiating. Interment was in Oak Lawn Memorial Park. Arrangements were by Kerby Funeral Home in Henagar, Ala.
