Mrs. Meryl Ansley Williamson
THOMSON, Ga. -- Mrs. Meryl Ansley Williamson, 84, widow of Mr. Woodrow Williamson, died Sunday, October 10, 2004 after an extended illness.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, October 12, 2004, in Thomson First Baptist Church with Dr. Jim Ramsey officiating. Burial was in Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Williamson was a native of Columbia County, but had lived in Thomson for many years. She was retired from the McDuffie County School System. She was a member of the Thomson First Baptist Church, where she taught in the Children's Department for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Woodrow Williamson and her son, Jimmy Williamson.
She is survived by her three sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Nell Williamson, Blythe, David and Vicki Williamson, Lexington, S.C. and Tommy and Debbie Williamson, Anderson, S.C.; her daughter-in-law, Paulette Williamson, Thomson; four sisters, Rachel Phillips, Cathy Phillips, Dollie McMichael and Audrey McTier, all of Dearing; a brother, Mr. S.O. "Buck" Ansley, Jr., Dearing; 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Steven Palmer, Gary Garrison, Adam Baggett, Jim Baggett, Jerry Baggett and Sterling Ansley, Jr.

Mrs. Irene Williford

APPLING, Ga.- Mrs. Irene Williford, 87, wife of the late William R. Williford, entered into rest on Thursday, October 7, 2004 at McDuffie Regional Medical Center.
Funeral Services were held at Elliott Sons Funeral Home, Telfair Street Chapel on Saturday, October 9, 2004 at 11 a.m. with Reverend Jerry Greer and Mr. Frank Martin officiating. Burial followed at Bartow Cemetery, Bartow, Ga. at 3 p.m.
Survivors include five daughters, Loretta Hall, Warner Robins, Ga., Frances Pauline Babb, North Augusta, S.C., Myrtle Lurene Bailey, Kingstree, S.C., Billie Yvonne Kimberly, Grovetown, Ga. and Debra Jean Hatcher, Appling, Ga.; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
A native of Swainsboro, Ga., Mrs. Williford made the Augusta area her home for most of her life. She was a member of Belvedere Church of God and the Ladies Auxiliary and worked for King Mill.
Pallbearers for the service were William Babb, Michael Hall, Andrew Marsee, Lonnie Pope, Jr., Richard Lee Bailey, Jr., Timmy Hatcher and Ken Bufford.
Mrs. Susan Holzendorf Bridges
THOMSON, Ga.- Mrs. Susan Holzendorf Bridges, 91, of Thomson, entered into rest September 28, 2004 at McDuffie Regional Medical Center. She was the beloved wife of the late Redding Bridges.
Survivors include her son, Jimmy Bridges, Charlotte, N.C.; daughter, Jean Bridges, Atlanta, Ga.; two grandchildren, Jimmy Bridges, Jr., Atlanta, Dottie Koster, Charlotte, N.C. and one great-grandchild, Marley Bridges.
Mrs. Bridges was a lifelong resident of McDuffie County and the daughter of the late Francis Holzendorf and the late Leila Dent Holzendorf. She was a homemaker, a member of First Baptist Church of Thomson and a member of the Lydian Sunday School Class.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Thursday, September 30, 2004, at First Baptist Church in Thomson with Dr. James M. Ramsey officiating. Interment followed in Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers were James Bridges, Billy Holzendorf, John Bridges, Wade Bridges, Alton Bridges and Lewis Holzendorf.
Honorary pallbearers were the Lydian Sunday School Class.

Mrs. Marlene Irby Chalker
AVERA, Ga.- Mrs. Marlene Irby Chalker, 70, loving wife of the late Billy E. Chalker, entered into rest Saturday, October 2, 2004 at M.C.G. Hospital, Augusta.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Magnolia Baptist Church with the Rev. Roy White officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Chalker was a native of Glascock County but lived in Jefferson County most of her life. She was a member of the Gibson Church of God.
She is survived by her daughter, Terry Parrish and her husband, Frank, of Stapleton; her son, Derry T. Chalker and his wife, Lisa T. of Virginia Beach, Va.; and three sisters, Jenene Walden of Avera, Ethel Davis of Thomson and Mildred Phillips of Gibson. Her grandchildren are Toni Lynn Brooks and her husband, Greg; Paul F. Parrish, Jr. and his wife, Molly; Clay Parrish and his wife, Tara; Cody Parrish, Tony Chalker, Derry Chalker and Victoria Chalker. Her great-grandchildren are Jared Brooks and Candence Parrish.
Mrs . Chalker was preceded in death by her loving son, Tony Chalker.
Pallbearers were Richard Walden, Keith Walden, Greg Walden, Paul F. Parrish, Jr., G.H. Cosby and Andrew Hayes.

Mrs. Bessie Crawley
THOMSON, Ga.- Mrs. Bessie Crawley, 92, widow of Mr. John Hershal 'Bub' Crawley, died Tuesday, September 28, 2004, in the McDuffie Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Thursday, September 30, 2004 in the Bethel Baptist Church with Rev. Tim Ferrell officiating. Burial was in Westview Cemetery.
Mrs. Crawley was a native of Texas and lived and attended schools in Chattanooga, Tenn., but lived most of her adult life in Thomson. She was retired from the National Mobile Homes of Thomson where she was a sewing room clerk. She was a charter member of Bethel Baptist Church of Thomson. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was preceded in death by two sons, James H. 'Jim' Crawley and Joe Norman Crawley.
She is survived by her son, Johnny Crawley, Thomson; two devoted daughters-in-law, Edna Crawley Williams, Norwood, Penny H. Crawley, Thomson and a devoted granddaughter-in-law, Lynn Crawley; grandson-in-law, Sidney Smith; eight grandchildren, Hollie L. Crawley, Kellie R. Crawley, Barrett E. Crawley, Jimmy Crawley and Elisa Smith, all of Thomson; Chuck Crawley, Lakeland, Fla., Pam Hicks, Indiana and Lynn Souther of Indiana; her brother, Bobby Randolph, Thomson; several great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Allie Ruth Fendley

THOMSON, Ga.- Mrs. Allie Ruth Fendley, 64, beloved wife of Raymond Fendley of Thomson, died Saturday, October 2, 2004 in the Medical College of Georgia.
Funeral services were held 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Dearing Church of God with Rev. James McCollum and Rev. Melton Short officiating.
Pallbearers were Marvin Fendley, Melvin Fendley, Zeke Garrett, Ryan Turner, Matthew Harris and Dustin Harris. Burial followed in the Adams Chapel Cemetery.
A native of Clanton, Ala., Mrs. Fendley was a daughter of the late James and Ruby Headley Smith. She was an avid quilt maker, a member of Dearing Church of God, and she was employed by Chardan as a seamstress.
Mrs. Fendley is survived by her husband, Raymond Fendley of Thomson; son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Beverly Hayes of Villa Rica, Ga.; son, Allen Hayes of Leads, Ala.; daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Steve Perotto of Blue Ridge, Ga.; stepson, Wayne Fendley of Augusta; sisters, Delaine Waters of Maplesville, Ala.; Nell Betzhold of Prattville, Ala.; a brother, James Smith of Polk City, Fla.; six grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. William (Bill) Golomb
THOMSON, Ga.- Mr. William (Bill) Golomb, 87, died peacefully Sunday, October 3, 2004 at Piedmont Hospital. He was the son of the late Charles and Anna Todt Golomb of Allentown, Pa.
Bill was in the Civilian Conservation Corps in 1937-1938 and joined the Army in 1939. The Baltimore Orioles bought him out of the Army in 1940 to pitch in their minor league located in Aiken, S.C. When World War II started, they told him to get a job or go back in the Army. He then went to work for the Georgia Railroad on October 2, 1941 and retired on December 31, 1980. Bill enjoyed fishing and bowling. Though his health prevented him from fishing, he still bowled two days a week in the Senior Traveler's Bowling League & Club 55 Seniors at Suburban Lanes. He loved the Lord and was a charter member of St. Stephen Lutheran Church in Decatur, later becoming a member of Avondale Pattillo United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Choo-Choo Bunch, railroad retirees group that met monthly until about six years ago. Bill loved people and especially his family.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, John, George and Michael and sister, Mary McConnell.
Surviving are his wife of 28 years, Madelyn Farr Golomb; daughter, Pamela Adams (Ira); grandchildren, Jeff Kuzy (Melody), Nick Kuzy (Kristy), Chuck Kuzy (Charlene), Michael Kuzy (Denise) and Ashley and Wayne Adams; nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter; brothers, Sam Golomb (Agnes) of Fullerton, Pa.; sisters, Helen Kovach (Paul) of Norfolk, Va., Anna Silvius of Allentown, Pa.; sisters-in-law, Ida Golomb of Northampton, Pa., Irene Golomb of Dothan, Ala., Ruth F. Wallace of Thomson, Carolyn F. MacKay of Reno, Nev.; brothers-in-law, Bob Farr (Mazelle), Dan Farr (Betty), both of Thomson, Charlie C. Farr of Gainsville, Ga. and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, October 7, in the chapel of A.S. Turner & Sons. Interment will be in the Westview Cemetery, Thomson at 3:30 p.m.

THOMSON, Ga.- Mr. C.B. Jones, Jr., 84, beloved husband of Mrs. Annie Jones of Carroll Street, died Thursday, September 30, 2004, in the University Hospital.
Funeral services were held Saturday, October 2, 2004, in the Curtis Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. John Bass officiating. Burial was in Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Jones was a native of McDuffie County. He was retired from the Lily Tulip Company.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Annie Jones, Thomson; two daughters, Carolyn Jones Campbell, Panama City, Fla. and Marilyn Jones Gunter, Tyrone, Ga.; a brother, Gene Jones; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

AUGUSTA, Ga.- Maj., U.S. Army Retired, Samuel D. Norris, 84, of Blueberry Dr. Augusta, husband of Mrs. Edna L. Norris, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 28, 2004, at Eisenhower Army Medical Center, Fort Gordon, Ga.
Funeral services were held in the Chapel of Hatcher Funeral home on Saturday, October 2, 2004 at 11 a.m. with the Rev. William Burch and the Rev. Rod Blomfield officiating. Interment with full military honors followed in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Survivors in addition to his wife include his three daughters, Sharon Chamineak and her husband, Mickey, of Thomson, Rosemary Garrison and her husband, Billy, of Augusta and Nancy Guy and her husband, George, of Waynesboro; son-in-law, Charlie Andrews of Augusta; grandchildren, Brian Andrews and his wife, Jen, Lynn Judson and her husband, Jonathon, Ian Garrison, Becky Guy, Lauren Burroughs and her husband, Billy, Sam Guy, Josh and Ethan Chamineak; grandson-in-law, Gary Ware; great grandchildren, Stephen Andrews, James Cipely, Gauge Guy and Nathan Judson. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Dianne Andrews and a granddaughter, Heather Ware.
Mr. Norris, a native of Piedmont, S.C., was the son of the late Samuel Marion and Rose Mae McAbee Norris. He was a retired Major in the U.S. Army having served with the Eighth Infantry Division, "I" Company. He was a member of Burns Memorial United Methodist Church where he was active in the Men's Club, on the Usher Board, and a past member of the Administrative Board.

WRENS, Ga.- Mrs. Nina M. Prickett, 84, entered into rest September 27, 2004, at University Hospital.
Funeral services were held Thursday, September 30, 2004 at 3 p.m. at James Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Joe Walden officiating. Interment followed at Mt. Moriah Cemetery.
Mrs. Prickett was a native of Jefferson County. She attended New House of Worship and is preceded in death by her husband, Lee A. Prickett.
Survivors include her daughter, Sally L. Ogletree, Thomson; eight sons, Eddie Lee Prickett, Matthews, Bobby Prickett, Wrens, Charles Prickett, Matthews; William Prickett, Thomson; Allen Prickett, Matthews; Lewis Prickett, Blythe; Ronnie Prickett, Matthews; Donnie Prickett, Matthews; 21 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were held Tuesday, October 5, 2004 at 2 p.m. at the Sharon Baptist Church Cemetery, Appling, with Rev. Michael Davenport officiating.
Family members are two sons, William Edward Stewart, Jr., and his wife, Sandy, of Columbia, S.C. and Clyde Eugene Stewart, of Harlem; one daughter, Cheryl Stewart Clark, and her husband, Matt, of Harlem; one brother, Richard F. Sleister, and his wife, Judy, of Grovetown; one sister, Claudia Sleister Eber, and her husband, Hans, of Evans, Ga.; four grandchildren, William E. Stewart, III., Jason L. Stewart, J. David Clark, and Brian K. Clark.
Mrs. Stewart was born in Appling, a retired clerk with Fort's Dry Cleaners, and a Baptist.

Beal, Elizabeth City, N.C.; daughters, Peggy J. Owens, Taylors, S.C., Brenda A. Beal, Greensboro, N.C., Linda B. Turner, Augusta; five grandchildren, Kim, Scott, Mark, Ronnie and Tommie; and two great-grandchildren.
