BLOOMFIELD - WILLIAM B. ASHMEAD, 79, of Bloomfield, Iowa died December 17, 2007 at the Davis County Hospital in Bloomfield. He was born
March 19, 1928 in Pontiac, Michigan to Carl B. and Agnes Small Ashmead. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He married
Marianne Pirtle June 12, 1949 in Bloomfield, Iowa. He owned and operated a hardware business in Solon, Iowa and later in Lancaster, Missouri. He was a member of the Bloomfield Christian Church.
He is survived by his wife, 3 daughters; Cay Zwicki of Ottumwa, Joan Wildman of Iowa City and Chris Welsh of Kansas City, Missouri, 4 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, 2 brothers; Albert Ashmead of Lancaster, Missouri and Jack Ashmead of Tempe, Arizona, and 1 sister; Mary Eaton of Sierra Vista, Arizona.
He was proceeded in death by his parents.
A memorial service will be at 11:00am on Friday December 21, 2007 at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield, Iowa with Rev. James Wakelin officiating. Burial of the cremains will be in the IOOF Cemetery in Bloomfield. The family will be at the funeral home Friday at 10:00am until the time of the service to greet friends. A memorial has been established to the Bloomfield Christian Church.
ROBERT T. MASON
BLOOMFIELD - ROBERT T. MASON 85, of Bloomfield, Iowa died December 16, 2007 at the Davis County Hospital Long Term Care in Bloomfield. He was born
February 16, 1922 in Oskaloosa, Iowa to Charles E. and Loa Joppa Mason. He served in the United States Army during World War II. He married
Marie Hauenstein April 5, 1946 in Oskaloosa, Iowa. He was a teacher at Indian Hills Community College in Ottumwa, Iowa and was a department head of computer maintenance and electronics. He had been a resident of Bloomfield since 1986. He was affiliated with the Bloomfield United Methodist Church, a former member of the Ottumwa Amateur Radio Club, and a 50 year member of Council Lodge #644 AF & AM in Oskaloosa, Iowa.
He is survived by his wife, 2 daughters; Sue Anne (Randy) Dailey of Ottumwa and Gayle (Don) Walton of Bloomfield, 4 grandchildren and 2 great-grand-children.
He was proceeded in death by his parents and a sister Shirley Gage.
Funeral Services will be at 11:00am on Wednesday December 19, 2007 at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield, Iowa with Pastor Kevin Gingerich officiating. Military rites will be performed by Reed Whisler Post # 78 of the American Legion in Bloomfield. Visitation will begin at 9am Tuesday with the family present from 6:30-8:00pm. Cremation will follow the service with interment at the Bellefountaine Cemetery in Tracy, Iowa at a later date. Memorials have been established to the Davis County Hospital Long Term Care Activity Fund.
JOSIE GALENA MORE
DRAKESVILLE - Josie Galena More 89, of Drakesville, Iowa died December 12, 2007 at the Davis County Hospital Long Term Care in Bloomfield, Iowa. She was born
September 21, 1918 in Davis County, Iowa to Walter and Sylvia Bean Stufflebeam. She married
Chester M. More May 7, 1938 in Lancaster, Missouri. They lived all of their married
life on the family farm north of Drakesville, better known as Wheeler Ridge. A resident of Davis County her lifetime, she was a homemaker and very active in the farm operation. Her number one priority was her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was an excellent cook, gardener and #1 grandmother. She was a member of the Bunch Christian Church.
She is survived by a son Ray (Phyllis) More and a daughter Goldie (Don) Rysdam both of Drakesville, Iowa. 4 grandchildren Michael (Bobbi) More and Dianna (Vince) Remmark all of Unionville, Iowa. Stacie (Jeff) Woodburn of Bloomfield, Iowa and Kristie Rysdam of Ottumwa, Iowa; 5 great-grandchildren Logan, Jessica and Nathan More and Heidi and Hunter Remmark; Sister Ida (Paul) Piper of Drakesville, Iowa; 2 sister-in-laws Mary Stufflebeam of Washington, Iowa and Blanche Stufflebeam of Iowa City, Iowa; And several nieces and nephews.
She was proceeded in death by her parents, husband, 2 brothers Dale and Homer Stufflebeam; and 4 sisters Nellie Rose, Eunice Knight and Beulah and Gail Stufflebeam.
Funeral services will be at 10:30am on Saturday December 15, 2007 at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Pastor Richard Friend officiating. Burial will be in the Drakesville Cemetery in Drakesville, Iowa. Visitation will begin at 9am Friday with the family present to greet friends from 6:30-8pm at the funeral home. Memorials have been established to the American Diabetes Foundation and the Davis County Long Term Care at Davis County Hospital.
Lorraine Lough
BLOOMFIELD - Lorraine Lough 81, of Bloomfield died December 3, 2007 at the Bloomfield Care Center. She was born
March 21, 1926 near Pulaski, Iowa to Harry and Irene Schindler Helmick. She married
John R. Lough September 26, 1945 in Bloomfield. He proceeds her in death March 10, 2005. A resident of Davis County her lifetime, she was a homemaker. She was a member of Rebekah Lodge #1 of Bloomfield, and was a Cub Scout leader.
She is survived by a daughter Linda (Jack) Prevo of Bloomfield; 3 sons: Ken (Maureen) Lough of Marion, IA: Jim (Vicki) Lough and Larry Lough, both of Bloomfield. 6 grand-children. 9 great-grandchildren. A great-great-grand-daughter and a sister Evelyn Downing of Des Moines, IA.
She is proceeded in death by her parents and her husband.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 am on Thursday December 6, 2007 at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Pastor Kevin Gingerich officiating. Burial will be in the IOOF Cemetery in Bloomfield. Visitation will begin at 9 am Wednesday with the family present to greet friends from 6-8 pm at the funeral home. A memorial has been established to her family or Hospice Inc.
MICHAEL J. AUGSPURGER
OTTUMWA - MICHAEL J. AUGSPURGER, 52 of Ottumwa, Iowa died November 27, 2007 at his home. He was born
February 13, 1955 in Bloomfield, Iowa to Larry A. and Darlene L. Murphy Augspurger. He was a 1973 graduate of Davis County High School in Bloomfield and attended the University of Iowa in Iowa City, Iowa. He was a member of the Mennonite Church in rural Pulaski, Iowa. He worked all of his life as a journalist for newspapers including those in Chariton, Bloomfield, Ottumwa and Burlington and received several state and national awards for his journalistic work. He also served as mayor of Bloomfield in the mid-1980’s.
He is survived by a daughter Nyla Howell of Newton, Iowa; an uncle; aunts and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents; parents and a sister Peg Augspurger.
Graveside services will be held at 10:30 AM Monday December 3, 2007 at the Pulaski Cemetery in Pulaski, Iowa with Pastor Darrell Zook officiating. Memorials may be made to Davis County Dollars for Scholars, in care of Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield.
JERRY R. MILLER
PULASKI - JERRY R. MILLER, 73 of Pulaski, Iowa died November 27, 2007 at his home. He was born
November 15, 1934 in Stiles, Iowa to Floyd and Leola Hendricks Miller. He was a 1953 graduate of Pulaski High School and served in the United States Army. He was a farmer. He married
Karen Ann Roberts March 11, 1961 in Bloomfield, Iowa.
He is survived by his wife; 2 daughters Sheryl (Leon) Wright of Pulaski, Iowa and Brenda (Ron) McLeran of Urbandale, Iowa; a son Donnie (Rhonda) Miller of Pulaski, Iowa; 7 grandchildren and 2 sisters Pat Hecker of Warrensburg, Missouri and Sharon Wheaton of Bloomfield, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Bill Miller.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 am Saturday December 1, 2007 at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Doran Bollman officiating. Burial with graveside military rites by Reed Whisler Post #78 of the American Legion in Bloomfield will be in the Pulaski Cemetery in Pulaski, Iowa. Visitation will begin at 9:00 am Friday with the family present from 6:00-8:00 pm. Memorials have been established to the Pulaski Volunteer Fire Department and the Pulaski Avenue of Flags.
WILLIS LYNNWOOD “LYNN” CARRIER
OTTUMWA - WILLIS LYNNWOOD “LYNN” CARRIER, 99 of West Point, Iowa and Zapata, Texas died November 27, 2007 at Vista Woods Care Center in Ottumwa. He was born
November 21, 1908 in Shenandoah Valley, Virginia to Abner Lee and Elizabeth “Betty” Jones Carrier. He married
Freda J. Crawford August 15, 1932 in St. Clair County, Missouri. He later married
Florence Hermes in January 1971 in Ft. Madison, Iowa. He was a farmer and manager of Kaiser Agricultural Chemicals in Farmington, Iowa. He was a member of the Stiles Christian Church and was a 4-H leader.
He is survived by 2 daughters Letha Hill of Ottumwa, Iowa and Sheralyn Shockley of Bloomfield, Iowa; a son Donald D. Carrier of Columbia, Missouri; 12 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wives; a daughter Patty Carrier; a great granddaughter; a brother Joe Carrier and 2 sisters Kathleen Van Buskirk and Virginia Heiserman.
Graveside services will be at 11:00 am Friday November 30, 2007 at the IOOF Cemetery in Bloomfield, Iowa with Rev. James Wakelin officiating. Visitation will begin at 9:00 am Thursday at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield. The family will be present to greet friends from 6:00-8:00 pm Thursday. Memorials have been established to Hospice, Inc. and Vista Woods Activity Fund.
JANE E. WHITE
BLOOMFIELD - JANE E. WHITE, 89 of Bloomfield died November 23, 2007 at the Bloomfield Care Center. She was born
October 5, 1918 in Bloomfield, Iowa to Albert G. and Elizabeth M. Brown Grim. She married
Vernon White in 1938 in West Grove, Iowa. He preceded her in death in 1966. She was a teacher and taught elementary school for 44 years in Ft. Morgan, Colorado. She was a member of the Ft. Morgan United Methodist Church, the Retired Teachers Association and was very active in the Republican Party.
She is survived by a daughter Judy Schmidt of Worthington, Minnesota; 4 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; 2 brothers Eugene Grim of Pulaski, Iowa and Donald Grim of Ottumwa, Iowa and 3 sisters Hope Kensinger of Iowa City, Iowa, Grace Whirrett of Pulaski, Iowa and Esther Muntz of Milton, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a son Jerry White and a sister Ann Cone.
The body has been cremated. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 am Wednesday November 28, 2007 at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Pastor Kevin Gingerich officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 9:30 to 10:30 am Wednesday.
LUCILLE L. WORK
PULASKI - LUCILLE L. WORK, 94 of Pulaski, Iowa died November 23, 2007 at the Van Buren County Hospital in Keosauqua, Iowa. She was born
April 16, 1913 in Troy, Iowa to William and Effie Darnell Work. She was a lifetime resident of Davis County and was a telephone operator in Pulaski for several years. She was a member of the Pulaski United Methodist Church and the Pulaski Senior Center.
She is survived by a nephew Jim (Neva) Roof, Sr. of Littleton, Colorado.
She was preceded in death by her parents; 3 sisters Catherine DeMuth, Leora Roof and Lela Heinkel and a brother William Work.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 am Tuesday November 27, 2007 at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Pastor Jerry Caughron officiating. Burial will be in the Pulaski Cemetery in Pulaski, Iowa. Open visitation will be from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm Monday. A memorial has been established to the Van Buren County Hospital.
MARY JO KEIM
DRAKESVILLE - MARY JO KEIM, 73 of rural Drakesville, Iowa died November 15, 2007 at her home. She was born
February 28, 1934 in Fairbanks, Iowa to Joseph and Mattie Borntrager Stutzman. She married
Eli M. Schrock September 12, 1982. He preceded her in death December 3, 1996. She married
Joseph Keim May 11, 2004 in Chouteau, Oklahoma. She had been a resident of Davis County for a year. She was a member of the Old Order Amish.
She is survived by her husband; 3 brothers Jerry, Edward and Harvey Stutzman; 5 sisters Elizabeth Hochstedler, Polly Otto, Anna Mast, Barbara Yoder and Bertha Borntrager; 4 stepsons David and Floyd Schrock and Mose and Benjamin Keim; 7 stepdaughters Bertha Yoder, Sylvia Yoder, Katie Mae Yoder, Treva Detweiler, Lydia Dickerhoff, Rosa Miller and Anna Borntrager; 60 step grandchildren and 72 step great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a brother; a stepdaughter; 5 step grandchildren and 4 step great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 12:00 pm Saturday November 17, 2007 in Jamesport, Missouri. Additional services will be at 9:00 am Monday November 19, 2007 in Chouteau, Oklahoma with burial following in the Chouteau Amish Cemetery. Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield is assisting the family.
