Joshua Krueger
Joshua Thomas Krueger, 28, of Woodstock, Ga., died Monday, Feb. 9, 2004, as a result of an accident at a tower site in Georgia.

Celebration of life services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Weerts Funeral Home, Davenport. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Reynolds, Ill., cemetery . Memorials may be made to the family.

Joshua was born Feb. 21, 1975, in Lansing, Mich., to Carl and Leslie McKelvey Krueger. He was a 1993 graduate of Pleasant Valley High School and graduated from the Atlanta, Ga., Institute of Massage Therapy as a registered massage therapist.

He currently was a cell site tower specialist for Insight Communications in Atlanta. He was a sketch artist, enjoyed reading and most of all loved his family.

Survivors (and spouses) include his mother, Leslie Krueger-Soucinek, Bettendorf; his father, Carl Krueger; his wife, Sharon, Duluth, Ga.; sister, Elizabeth (Timothy) Steines, Moline; brother, Nathan (Karen) Krueger, York, Pa.; grandparents, William McKelvey and Clara Mae Harrison, Reynolds; stepsister, Karmen (Russell) Brown, Davenport; stepbrother, Derek (Kelli) Wyble, Carrollton, Ga.; niece, Madison; and nephews, Tyler, Riley, Tyler B., Rusty, Dalton and Dylan; aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Frances McKelvey; and his paternal grandparents, Walter and Lucille Krueger.

Margie Mahoney
Margie J. Mahoney, 53, of Davenport, died Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2004, at her home.

Services are 6 p.m. Thursday at Runge Mortuary, Davenport, with cremation following. Visitation will be 5 to 6 p.m. Thursday at the mortuary.

She was born Oct. 13, 1950, in Davenport, daughter of Barbara McAtte.

She had been employed by Scott County Humane Society and the Cigarette Outlet, Davenport.

She loved animals, was a bingo player and loved to read.

Survivors include her daughter, Christine Mahoney, and life partner, Paula Tyson; sister, Marie Patton; niece, Sharon Bartlett; nephews, Billy Ross and David Patton; goddaughter, Laura Harper; special friends, Wilma Claussen, Stacey and John Bishop; and daughters, Ashton and Brooke.

Sharon Moenck
Sharon L. Moenck, 60, of Bettendorf, died Friday, Feb. 6, 2004, at her residence.

Service are 3 p.m. Friday at Pine Hill cemetery , Davenport. Weerts Funeral Home, Davenport, is assisting with arrangements.

Survivors (and spouses) include sisters, Eileen (Wayne) Brouhard, Kathleen (Russell) Finkler, both of Davenport, and Lori (James) Morrissey, Bishop Hill; brother, Lynn (Joyce) Keller, Davenport; seven nieces and nephews; three great-nieces and -nephews; father, Harry Keller, Bettendorf; and her cat, Tuffy. She was preceded in death by her mother, Lois, in 1997.

Maude Olson
Maude R. Olson, 100, of Davenport, died Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2004, at Ridgecrest Village, Davenport.

Services are 11:30 a.m. Friday at Runge Mortuary, Davenport, with visitation one hour before. Burial will be in National cemetery , Arsenal Island.

Maude Rapp was born Aug. 15, 1903, in Bishop Hill, daughter of Andrew and Oliva Rapp Anderson. She married Edwin O. Olson Dec. 24, 1932, in Rock Island.

Survivors include numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edwin; two brothers; and a sister.

Michael Goldsby
Michael G. Goldsby, 50, of Rock Island, died Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2004, at home.

Visitation is 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at Gibson Funeral Home, Port Byron, where further arrangements are pending.

Richard Shellenberger
Richard O. Shellenberger, 80, of Rock Island, died Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2004, at Trinity Medical Center, Rock Island.

Services are 11 a.m. Friday at First Congregational Church, Moline. Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Wendt Funeral Home, Moline, with a Masonic service at 7:30 p.m. Further arrangements are pending.

Marjorie Neighbour
Marjorie N. Neighbour, 77, of Moline, died Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2004, at home.

Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at DeRoo Funeral Home, Moline, where further arrangements are pending.

Hazel Barkley
Hazel Barkley, 99, of Bella Vista, Ark., formerly of the Quad-Cities, died Monday, Feb. 9, 2004, at Concordia Care Center, Bella Vista.

Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Sullivan-Phillips Mortuary, East Moline, and 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at Wayland, Mo., United Methodist Church, where she was a member, followed by graveside services at Oak Hill cemetery , Wayland. The Rev. Rebecca Peak will officiate. Memorials may be made to Oak Hill cemetery .

She was born Nov. 17, 1904, in Butler, Mo., daughter of George and Emma Everman McKinney. She married Russell B. Barkley May 4, 1927, in New Florence, Mo. He died March 7, 1982. She had lived in Bella Vista since August 2003.

She loved to read.

Survivors (and spouses) include daughter, Marian (Wilbur) Best, Bella Vista, formerly of East Moline; grandchildren, Beverly (John) Baud, Hampton, Cheryl (David) Hartshorn, Texas, and Russell Dean (Vicki) Best, Texas; five great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and special nephew and family, Kenneth (Ellen) Kruger, Canton, Mo.

John `Butch' Cross
John T. 'Butch' Cross, 63, of East Moline, died Monday, Feb. 9, 2004, at Illini Hospital, Silvis.

Private family graveside services will be held at National cemetery , Arsenal Island. Visitation is 4 to 6 p.m. today at Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline. Memorials may be made to the Rock Island Conservation Club.

He was born Nov. 23, 1940, in Sedalia, Mo., son of Jack and Jo Williams Cross. He married Jill Ragland Aug. 21, 1965, in Sedalia.

He was the car wash manager for Greater Quad City Auto Auction. He served in the Army during Vietnam.

Survivors (and spouses) include Jill; daughters Melody (Jerry) Brown, Moline, Misty Cross, Bixby, Okla., and Dawn Cross, Blue Springs, Mo.

Velma Daggett
Velma Evelyn Daggett, 80, formerly of East Moline, died Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2004, at Davenport Lutheran Home.

Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline, where further arrangements are pending.

Katherine Verdick
Katherine F. Verdick, 74, of Silvis, died Monday, Feb. 9, 2004, at Illini Restorative Care Center, Silvis.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline. Burial will be in St. Mary's cemetery , East Moline. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the family.

Katherine Price was born March 7, 1929, in Hooppole, daughter of Beckham and Ella Bowers Price. She married Clarence Verdick Sept. 7, 1946, in Morrison.

She had worked at Stone's Apple Orchard, Hampton, and various restaurants in the Quad-Cities area. She enjoyed going to auctions and garage sales, but most of all she loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Clarence Verdick, Silvis; daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Thomas Wallace, Port Byron; sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry and Sharon Verdick, Cordova, Steven and Mary Verdick, Carbon Cliff, Bruce and Lisa Verdick, Flower Mound, Texas; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Donna and Wayne Prokup, Jackson, Miss.; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Richard and Mary Price, Sun City, Ariz., William and Shirley Price, Cleveland, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Robert and Marvin 'Bugs' Price; an infant granddaughter; and two infant great-grandsons.

Cleone Downing
Cleone Downing, 93, a resident of Hillcrest Home, Geneseo, formerly of Cambridge and Mesa, Ariz., died Monday, Feb. 9, 2004, at the home.

According to her request, cremation rites have been accorded and there will be no visitation or services. Arrangements are by Vandemore Funeral Home, Geneseo.

She was born July 7, 1910, in South Moline Township, to Stanwood and Carrie Miller Loding. She married Ernest Downing in 1937. He died in 1987.

She and her husband farmed in rural Cambridge for many years.

Survivors and (spouses) are daughter, Odetta (Bill) Leff, Bishop Hill; son, Dennis (Jeane), Cambridge; and grandson, Zane Downing, Ava, Ill.

Leo Draminski
Leo Draminski, 86, of Kewanee, died Feb. 10, 2004, at home.

Services are 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic, Kewanee. Burial is in Mount Olivet cemetery , Kewanee. Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. today at Rux, Kewanee. Memorials go to Visitation School or St. Mary's.

He was born May 27, 1917, in Kewanee, to John and Rose Jouron Draminski.

Survivors are wife, Elizabeth; daughters, Diana Gilligan, Groveland, Ill., and Carol Will, Chillicothe, Ill.; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brother, Stanley, Kewanee; sister, Eva Jachowich, Kewanee.

John Kent
John 'Jack' Kent, 72, of Colona, died Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2004, at home.

Arrangements are pending at Family Funeral Services, Colona.

Lois Norman
Lois Norman, 78, of Resthave Nursing Home, Morrison, died Feb. 9, 2004, at the home.

Services are 10 a.m. Friday at Bosma-Renkes, Morrison. Burial is in Fulton Township cemetery . Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday.

She was born in Fulton. She married Elmer Norman in 1944. He died in 1993.

Survivors are daughters, Linda Vanderlaan and Myra Hearst, Morrison, and Patricia Hartman, Stratford, Texas; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; siblings, Irma Hoogheem, Fulton, Doris Vandermyde and Marcia Meinsma, Morrison, and Robert Brondyke, Port Byron.

Frances Shaw
Frances Katherine Bailey Shaw, 98, of Albany, formerly of Kewanee, died Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2004, at home.

Services are private. There is no visitation. Burial is in Bradford (Ill.) cemetery . Rux, Kewanee, is handling arrangements.

She was born May 12, 1905, in Roane County, W.Va. She married LaVerne Shaw June 21, 1928.

Survivors are her daughters, Joane Bortniak, Vancouver, Wash., Maxine Clark, Cordova, Georgene Bradford and Mary R. 'Becky' Willey, both of Albany; six grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren.

Leolah Simpkins
Leolah Simpkins, 84, of Aledo, died Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2004, at Trinity Medical Center, West Campus, Rock Island.

Arrangements are pending at Dennison Funeral Home, Aledo.

Randy Whitney
Randy D. Whitney, 34, of Albany, died Monday, Feb. 9, 2004, at St. Anthony Medical Center, Rockford, as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Arrangements are pending at Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home, Fulton.

Linda Concannon
Linda Concannon, 53, of Davenport, died Sunday, Feb. 8, 2004, at Trinity West, Rock Island.

Services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Davenport. Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Runge Mortuary, Davenport. Burial is in Davenport Memorial Park.

She was born Jan. 27, 1951, to Leo and Loretta Martens Kling. She married Lee Concannon Jr.

Surving are her children, Kenneth Concannon, Morrison, Brian Concannon, Bushnell, Ill., ReAnn Heister; five grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; five sisters; three brothers.
