Teresa Diaz
Services for Teresa Guerra Diaz, 73, of East Moline, will be 10 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, East Moline. Interment will be in St. Mary's Mausoleum, East Moline.

Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline, where a rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Memorials may be made to Pathway Hospice.

Mrs. Diaz died Monday, March 29, 2004, at her home.

Teresa Guerra was born Oct. 18, 1930, in Aguascalientes, Mexico, the daughter of Panfilo Guerra and Maria Socorro Esparza. She married Jose O. Diaz in 1948 in Aguascalientes. He died Nov. 23, 1977.

She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, East Moline. She enjoyed cooking and gardening.

Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and Steve Gooch, Milan, Magdalena Diosdado, Mexico, Teresa and Jack Glynn, Bettendorf, Martha Dunbar, Davenport; sons and daughters-in-law, Jorge and Anita Diaz, East Moline, Jose L. and Rosa Diaz, East Moline, Enrique 'Henry' and Maria Diaz, East Moline, Alberto Diaz, Moline; grandchildren, Jami, Christina, Christopher, Enrique, Maria, Lucero, Beatriz, Luis, Marco, Jessica, Brandon, Kyle, Jose, Daniel, Abraham, Natalie, Melissa, Michael, Steven, Breana, Zachary, Alyssa and Joseph; great-grandchildren, Ashly, Nicole, Raquel, Samantha, Alejandro, Leticia, Luis, Naomi, Paige, Logan, Antonio, Jose, Maria and Christian; sister, Teresa and Socorro Ruiz Esparza; brothers, Vicente, Alejandro, Gerardo and Jesus Ruiz Esparza. She was preceded in death by her husband, daughter, Marisela, parents and sister, Carmela.

The family would like to thank Pathway Hospice for the special care they provided for Teresa Diaz.

Trinidad Rangel
Trinidad Rangel, 87, of Silvis, died March 27, 2004, at Illini Restorative Care, Silvis.

Services are 10 a.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, Silvis. Burial is in St. Mary's cemetery , East Moline. Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Schroder Mortuary, Silvis, with a rosary at 7:30 p.m.

She was born June 16, 1916, in Leon, GTO, Mexico, the daughter of Pedro and Francisca Alonzo Terronez. She married Cleofus Rangel. He died in 1957.

She was a housewife.

Survivors are daughter, Rita (Dennis) Lee, Davenport; sons, Katarino (Sue) Rangel, Dillsburg, Pa., Pedro (Janet) Rangel, Davenport, Joe (Linda) Rangel, Moline, Rudy (Irene) Rangel, Brigham City, Utah, Vincent Rangel, Silvis, Augie (Cindy) Rangel, West Columbia, S.C., and Michael Rangel, East Moline; 23 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. She was preceded by sons, Cleofus, Frankie and Robert and daughter, Guadalupe.

Helen Ries
Helen M. Ries, 94, of Milan, died Monday, March 29, 2004, at home.

Arrangements are pending at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Milan.

Ronald Black
Ronald Floyd Black, 85, Fenton, Ill., died peacefully Sunday afternoon, March 28, 2004, at KSB Hospital, Dixon, Ill.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Fenton United Methodist Church with a luncheon following in fellowship hall. Burial is in Fenton cemetery . The visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Gibson Funeral Home, Erie. Memorial will be for the Fenton United Methodist Church.

Ronald was born June 25, 1918, in Fenton, to Floyd Ralph and Beulah Given Black. He attended Fenton and Erie schools. Ronald married Verelle W. McDonald of Lyndon, Ill., on Aug. 3, 1941, and moved into their new residence in rural Fenton On D-Day, Dec. 7, and resided there until the final months before his passing.

Ronald was a member of the Fenton United Methodist Church, Erie Country Club, Masonic Temple, Farm Bureau, and was Secretary-Treasurer of the Erie/Fenton Drainage District. He was a former member of the Erie School Board.

His love of farming was surpassed only by his love of family. Besides farming, Ronnie enjoyed golfing, bowling, playing cards and traveling. He especially enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and his entire family will miss him greatly.

Survivors (and spouses) are his children, Carol (John) Riewerts, Gary Black, Betty Jo Black, all of Fenton; 10 grandchildren, Tim (Paula) Riewerts, Tom Riewerts, Michelle (Eddie) Martinez, Kelly (Mark) Lebar, Michael (Kathi) Wolever, Amber (Darryl) Kellner, Heather (Brian) Syrett, Cary (Holly) Black, Corey (Kristen) Black, Chrystal (Ronnie) Black-Gregory; 22 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; three nephews, Bill Schaller, Jack Greve, Floyd Greve; and two nieces, Bonnie Ledgerwood and Lou Ellen Stoddard. His wife, one brother and parents preceded Ronald in death.

Wyman Coulter
Wyman R. Coulter, 86, of Orion, died March 29, 2004, at Illini Restorative Care, Silvis.

Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Orion United Methodist Church. Burial will be at Western Township cemetery , Orion. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Kirk, Huggins & Esterdahl Funeral Home, Orion. Memorials may be made to Orion United Methodist Church where he was a member.

Wyman was born July 8, 1917, in Western Township, Ill., to Guy and Bessie Richardson Coulter on his grandfather's farm west of Orion. He attended Orion schools and graduated from the University of Illinois. He entered G.E. Insurance Agency in 1939. He married June Rindler April 23, 1960, at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Davenport.

Wyman retired from Coulter Agency in 2004 after 61 years of serving the community. Wyman was a World War II veteran serving in China with the 14th Airforce Flying Tigers. He was a charter member of the 14th Airforce Association and the 75th Fighters Association. He spent 20 years as the clerk for Western Township. He was president and secretary of the Orion Business Association. He served as the secretary for the Osco and Western Insurance Co., from 1974-2002. He was a member of the Orion Chamber of Commerce, Orion American Legion where he served as adjutant and finance officer, Secretary of Orion Telephone Co. from 1974-1990 and a charter member of the Davenport 60 Plus Club. He loved to dance, which was how he met his wife, June. He enjoyed yardwork, gardening and he loved his job.

Survivors are wife, June; cousins, Donna and Gene Boehm, Robert and Mary Jane Coulter, Jim and Charlotte Coulter, Dick and Alice Coulter, Monita and Dwane Martin, Ann and David Richardson, Indianapolis, Ind., and Susan and David Lindemer, Sarasota, Fla.

Dora Ruxton
Dora Ruxton, 100, of Geneseo, died Monday, March 29, 2004, at Hammond-Henry Hospital, Geneseo.

Arrangements are pending at Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services, Geneseo.

Eunice Sherrard
Eunice M. Sherrard, 84, of Alpha, died Sunday March 28, 2004, at Rosewood Care Center in Galesburg.

Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Alpha United Methodist Church with the Rev. Don Robinson officiating. Burial will be in Alpha cemetery . Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. today at Peterson-Wallin-Knox Funeral Home, Alpha, where memorials may be left to the Alpha United Methodist Church or the Alpha cemetery Association.

She was born Nov. 18, 1919, in Augusta, Ill., a daughter of Clem and Helen Tobie West. She graduated from Augusta High School, attended Gem City Business College in Quincy and married Robert H. Sherrard Dec. 1, 1938, in Augusta. He died Aug. 22, 1998.

Eunice was a homemaker and was a member of the Alpha United Methodist Church where she held many offices in its Women's Association. She was a former treasurer of the Alpha cemetery Association, member of the Chapter L PEO in Woodhull, and was a former member of the planning committee of the Alpha Mobile Meals Program.

She enjoyed gardening, family and friends, reading and playing cards.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Ned Nice of Alpha; sons and daughters-in-law, Roger and Susan Sherrard, Kennesaw, Ga., George and Kay Sherrard, Louisville, Ky., and Richard and Julie Sherrard, Bettendorf; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a daughter, Roberta; and two brothers.

Vernon Dengler Sr.
Vernon L. Dengler Sr., 65, of Davenport, died unexpectedly Monday, March 29, 2004, at Genesis Medical Center, East Campus, Davenport.

Arrangements are pending at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport.

Anthony Griffiths
Anthony A. Griffiths, 77, of Tyler, Texas, formerly of Bettendorf, died March 28, 2004, at Trinity Mother Frances Hospital, Tyler.

Services are 11 a.m. Saturday at St. John Vianney Catholic, Bettendorf. Burial is in Mt. Calvary cemetery . Visitation is 9 a.m. to services. Arrangements are by Halligan-McCabe-DeVries.

Survivors include his wife, Mary; daughters, Kathleen Koch, Maquoketa, Iowa, Maureen Carstens, Rock Island, Margaret Griffiths, Davenport; stepdaughter Anne Carr, Vacaville, Calif.; sons Daniel, Davenport, Patrick, Overland, Mo., Michael, Moline, Brian, Bettendorf, Sean, Davenport, Lawrence, Overland, Mo.; stepson, Mike Klueppel, Dallas, Texas; 23 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Marjorie; second wife, Sandra.

Charles Kabala
Services for Charles Kabala, 79, Davenport, are 10 a.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Victory, Davenport. Burial is in National cemetery , Arsenal Island, with military rites.

Visitation is 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Cunnick-Collins, Davenport, with a 6 p.m. scripture service.

He died March 28, 2004, at his home.

He was born May 31, 1924, to Frank and Sophia Kabala.

Surviving are wife, Maxine; children, Charles, Davenport, Michael, Sioux City, S.D., Joel, Omaha, Neb., Susan Meidlinger, Council Bluffs, Iowa; 13 grandchildren; sisters, Florence Kulbieda and Carol Munger, both of Davenport.

Pearl Lafrenz
Pearl Bender Lafrenz, 88, Postillion Home, Davenport, formerly of Eldridge, Iowa, died Sunday, March 28, 2004, at the home.

Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at Chambers, Eldridge, with visitation one hour prior. Burial is in Greenlawn cemetery , Afton, Iowa.

She married Donald Bender in 1938. He died in 1948. She married Herman Lafrenz in 1985. He also preceded her in death.

Surviving are her daughter, Mary Etta McDonald, Brighton, Iowa; sons, Dean Bender, Eldridge, Larry Bender, Davenport; six grandchildren; five great-granddaughters; one sister.

Viola Nagel
Viola Nagel, 82, of Davenport, died Sunday, March 28, 2004, at Davenport Lutheran Home.

Arrangements are pending at Runge Mortuary, Davenport.

Mabel Ochsner
Mabel Ochsner, 102, Davenport, died March 28, 2004, at Manor Care Health Services, Davenport.

Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. today at Weerts, Davenport. Memorial services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Unitarian Church, Davenport. Burial is in Fairmount cemetery , Davenport.

She was born May 30, 1901, in Davenport, to John and Emma Owens. She married George Ochsner Sept. 10, 1927, in Clinton, Iowa. He died Oct. 1, 1970.

Surviving are her sister, Lorraine Campbell, Davenport; special nieces, Elaine Kresse, Davenport, Shelly Cilek, Iowa City; additional nieces and nephews.

Bonnie Posten
Bonnie J. Posten, 69, of Davenport, died Sunday, March 28, 2004, at University Hospitals, Iowa City.

Arrangements are pending at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport.

Donald Roussell
Donald Roussell, 75, Davenport, died March 28, 2004, at home.

Services are 10 a.m. Wednesday at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries. Burial is in National cemetery , Arsenal Island. Visitation is 4:30 to 7 tonight with a 7 p.m. prayer service.

He married Patricia Hughes in 1955. She died in 2002.

Surviving are children, Donald Jr., St. Albans, Vt., Sandra Adamson, Bettendorf, Vicki McQuillen, Indian Wells, Calif.; six grandchildren; two-great grandchildren; father, Chris, Coal Valley; siblings, Darlene Carstens, Davenport, Doris Hollmer, Andalusia, Mary Piercy, Moline, Leo, Davenport.

Margaret Vargas
Margaret Lopez Vargas, 83, formerly of Davenport, died Sunday, March 28, 2004, at Rosewood Nursing Home, Inverness, Ill., after an extended illness.

Services are 11 a.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart Cathedral, Davenport. Visitation is Wednesday 3 to 6 p.m. at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, where further arrangements are pending.

Archie Eddy
Archie C. Eddy, of Carlsbad, Calif., formerly of Rock Island, died Wednesday, March 24, 2004, in Carlsbad.

A memorial service will be held April 24 at St. Andrews Episcopal Church, 890 Balour Drive, Encinitas, CA 92024. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the church in Archie's honor.

He was born July 13, 1927, in Rock Island. He graduated from Rock Island High School, class of 1945, and Northwestern University, class of 1950.

He was a former employee of International Harvester, where he was an electrical engineer for 48 years.

Survivors are his daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Michael Hinkley, and grandchildren, Michael Hinkley Jr. and Lauren Hinkley, all of Carlsbad. He was preceded in death by his wife, Henrietta G. Eddy, a native of Moline, on May 20, 2003.

Robert Mosley
Robert L. Mosley, 66, of Rock Island, died Saturday, March 27, 2004, at Trinity Medical Center, Rock Island.

Arrangements are pending at Sullivan-Phillips Mortuary, East Moline.

Eugene Fox
Eugene F. Fox, 81, of Milan, died Saturday, March 27, 2004, at River Park Healthcare Center, Rock Island.

Arrangements are pending at Wheelan Funeral Home, Rock Island.
