Evadeen Haney, 78, of Moline, died Monday, June 25, 2007, at Rosewood Care Center, Moline.

Arrangements are pending at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline. Survivors include her husband, Floyd.

Dorothy Ionides
Dorothy Katrana Ionides, 89, of East Moline, died Tuesday, June 26, 2007, at Genesis Medical Center, Illini Campus, Silvis.

Arrangements are pending at Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline.

Aten `Tom' Thompson Jr.
Aten W. "Tom" Thompson Jr., 62, of Silvis, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, June 24, 2007, of a heart attack while sleeping at home.

Funeral services are 11 a.m. Thursday, June 28, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, 6601 38th Ave., Moline. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Heritage Wesleyan Church, Rock Island.

He was born July 28, 1944, in Moline, the son of Aten and Jeanette Thompson. He married Sherri Whitmore on Jan. 16, 1971, in Rock Island.

He graduated from United Township High School in 1963. He served in the U.S. Army from 1964-67 in Germany as an MP and an honor guard member. He worked at John Deere Harvester beginning in 1964. He then worked at John Deere Plow Planter, retiring June 30, 1991, as a supervisor and later a tour guide after retirement.

Since retirement, he has worked at the Greater Quad City Auto Auction as a condition reporter.

He attended Heritage Wesleyan Church in Rock Island.

He enjoyed spending time with his family and his dog, Bailey, watching NASCAR and Formula 1 races and had a huge passion for cars. He loved riding his motorcycle in the evening with Sherri, taking walks with her and playing with his sweet granddaughters.

He had attended the first Mathias Family Reunion the day before and had a wonderful time with his family.

His family is proud that he was a donor for the Gift of Hope.

Tom will be greatly missed and was well loved and adored by his wife, Sherri; his eldest son, David and Lauri, Rapids City; and his youngest son, Daniel and Connie, Silvis; his beautiful granddaughters, Kaylee, 10, Jenna, 6, Alexis, 4, and Zoey, 3 months; sisters and spouses include, Rosa and George "Larry" Sweat, Chatham, Ill., Theresa and Larry "Buck" Foltz, Houston, Texas, Cindy and George Waller, Olympia, Wash., who were all in the Quad-Cities for the family reunion; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Michael Dorothy
A celebration of life will be Friday, June 29, in Long Beach, Calif., for Michael Greer Dorothy, 59, who passed away June 22, 2007, due to complications from a stroke.

Michael was born Sept. 5, 1947, to Ward and Evelyn McGreer Dorothy. They resided on a farm near Aledo until 1964, when they moved to Davenport.

Michael served in the Marines as a sergeant and graduated from Iowa State University in Ames with a degree in economics and administration. He married Kathleen Likeness in 1968 and Carol Wong in 1983. He was employed as a controller for SynerMed, Inc., in Monterey Park, Calif.

He was treasurer of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Long Beach, where the memorial service will be held.

Among other things, Michael enjoyed his motorcycle, attending Star Trek conventions, wind surfing and spending time with his family.

Left to honor his memory are his parents; his wife, Carol, Long Beach; his daughter, Michelle Dorothy, Pittsburgh, Pa.; and sisters, Debbie Duffy, Davenport, and Becky Rasmussen, Moline; along with many nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to the City of Hope Cancer Center, 1500 East Duarte Road, Duarte, Calif.

Cheryl J. "Tudi"
Edwards

Cheryl J. "Tudi" Edwards, 56, of Geneseo, passed away Monday, June 25, 2007, at Hammond-Henry Hospital, Geneseo, after a courageous and valiant fight with cancer.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Vandemore Funeral Home, Geneseo. The Rev. John Davis will officiate. Burial will be in the Oakwood cemetery , Geneseo. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorials may be left to the Geneseo Humane Society or Tudi's Tribe Foundation.

Tudi was born July 20, 1950, in Princeton, Ill., the daughter of Robert L. and Norma J. McGonigle Dilts. She was a 1968 graduate of Geneseo High School. Tudi was united in marriage to John Edwards Jr. on Sept. 26, 1993, in Las Vegas, Nev.

She was a member of Desert Mountains Properties, Scottsdale, Ariz., and Oakwood Country Club, Coal Valley. Tudi was on the board of directors of the Miss Can Do Pageant, where she was just recognized this past weekend for her contributions to the pageant. She was very active in helping kids with cancer. She established the Tudi's Tribe Foundation, which is an ongoing foundation that helps kids with cancer fulfill dreams and wishes.

Tudi loved all animals and enjoyed golfing and spending time with her family and friends.

Survivors include her husband, John; her mother, Norma Dilts, Geneseo; two sisters and spouses, Rhoni and Zach Perrine, Geneseo, Linda and Harry Sellers, Geneseo; three nephews (and spouse), Jamie (Cory) Sellers, Kevin Sellers, and Ryan "Pudge" Sellers; two very special great-nephews, Kyle Sellers and Jack Sellers; "her boys," Harley and Bailey. She was preceded in death by her father.

George Lannoo
George J. Lannoo, 88, of Geneseo, formerly of Hillsdale, died Monday, June 25, 2007, at Hammond-Henry Hospital Extended Care Unit, Geneseo.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at St. John's Catholic Church, Rapids City. Burial will be in St. John's cemetery , Rapids City. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday with a prayer service at 5 p.m. at the Gibson Funeral Home, Port Byron. Memorials may be made to the church or the Hammond-Henry Hospital Extended Care Unit.

Mr. Lannoo was born March 22, 1919, in Joslin, the son of Julius and Leonie Mortier Lannoo. He married Mildred DeWaele on Feb. 27, 1943, in East Moline. She died Aug. 7, 1963.

He had been a farmer all of his life.

Mr. Lannoo was a member of St. John's Catholic Church and the Rock Island County Farm Bureau.

He enjoyed square dancing, but most of all enjoyed attending his grandchildren's sporting events. When he was younger, he played softball for his church's team.

Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Janet and Richard Zobrist, Colona, and Judy and Fred Wendl, Erie; grandchildren, Stephen Zobrist, David Zobrist, Paul Wendl, Cheryl Graham, Joyce Massa and Tim Wendl. There are eight great-grandchildren with one soon to be born. He was preceded in death by a brother, Maurice Lannoo; and a sister, Marie Braete.

Betty Massey
Betty Jane Massey, 70, of Kewanee, died Tuesday, June 26, 2007, at her home.

Cremation rites will be accorded and services will be at a later date. Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Massey was born March 17, 1937, in East St. Louis, Ill., daughter of Jesse and Dorothy Rodgers Zimmerman. She married James Massey in 1954 in East St. Louis. He preceded her in death in 2002.

Survivors (and spouses) include three sons, James (Sheri) Massey, Sacramento, Calif., William Massey, Hayward, Calif., and Thomas (Dawn) Massey, Newport News, Va.; three brothers, Bob, Roger and James; five sisters, Shirley, Carol, Sandy, Diane and Debbie; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Timothy Olsen
Timothy C. Olsen, 59, of Port Byron, passed away Monday, June 25, 2007, in Florida.

Arrangements are pending at Runge Mortuary and Crematory, Davenport.

Arlene Ray
Arlene L. Ray, 82, of Hudson, Fla., and formerly of Kewanee, died Monday, June 25, 2007, in Florida.

Services are 11 a.m. Friday at Schueneman-Tumbleson, Kewanee. Visitation is 9 a.m. Friday until the time of services. Burial is in Pleasant View cemetery , Kewanee.

Arlene was born April 11, 1925. She married Loy Ray Jan. 21, 1945, in Kewanee.

Surviving are her husband; sons, Doug, Glendale, Ariz., Mike, New Port Richey, Fla.; daughter, Gregg Anderson, Chatham, Ill.; seven grandchildren; and brother, Lester Ripka, Springfield, Ill.

Amy Duyvejonck
Amy C. Duyvejonck, 28, of Eldridge, died Sunday, June 24, 2007, in Milan.

Services are 1 p.m. Thursday at Cunnick-Collins Mortuary, Davenport, with visitation two hours prior to services. Burial will be in Pinehill cemetery .

She was born Oct. 20, 1978, to Bernie and Sherry Black Gates. She married Nathan James Duyvejonck on Feb. 24, 2001.

Surviving are her husband; father and stepmother, Bernie and Elaine Gates, Davenport; brothers, Tony Gates, Eldridge, Jeff Gates, Nebraska; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother.

Ronald Erickson
Ronald J. Erickson, 66, of Fort Mill, S.C., formerly of New Liberty, passed away Monday, June 25, 2007, at his home.

Funeral arrangements are pending at Runge Mortuary and Crematory, Davenport.

Margaret Fry
Margaret K. "Peggy" Fry, 88, of Davenport, died Monday, June 25, 2007, at Good Samaritan Center, Davenport.

Funeral services are noon Thursday in the Mary Chapel at St. Vianney Catholic Church, Bettendorf, with visitation from 11:15 a.m. to noon at the chapel. Burial will be at Mt. Calvary cemetery , Pittsburgh, Pa. DeRoo Funeral Home, Moline, is handling arrangements.

She was born June 17, 1919, in Pittsburgh, to Joseph A. and Margaret Noonan King. She married Wayne J. Fry on Jan. 21, 1950, in Pittsburgh. He preceded her in death March 8, 1974.

Survivors include daughters and son-in-law, Janet and Paul Rafferty, Bettendorf, and Judith Zarra, Pittsburgh; grandchildren, Ross and Colleen Rafferty, and Prudence and Courtney Zarra.

Benny Hyslope
Benny D. Hyslope, 78, of Davenport, died Monday, June 25, 2007, at his home.

Celebration of life services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, June 29, at Weerts Funeral Home, Davenport. A visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, June 28, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park.

Benny was born in Knoxville, Iowa, to Mable Pearl and Arthur William Hyslope. He married Illene Shuster on June 6, 1953, in Aledo. She died June 1, 2001.

He was employed at Alcoa, Riverdale, in the heat treat department for 41 1/2 years, retiring in 1994.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing and tinkering in his garage.

Survivors include his two daughters, Lynn Porter, Davenport and Carla P., Clinton, Iowa; a son and daughter-in-law, Benny and Pat Hyslope, Davenport; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Mae; and his good friend, Jim Thiering.

Donna Janus
Donna Janus, 70, of Davenport, died Tuesday, June 26, 2007, in Davenport.

Arrangements are pending at Runge Mortuary and Crematory, Davenport.

Bernice Rettig
Bernice Pitcher Rettig, 80, Davenport, died June 23, 2007, at Trinity Pathway Hospice, Bettendorf.

A memorial service is 1 p.m. Thursday at Runge, Davenport. Cremation rites were accorded.

She was born Oct 1, 1926. She married Robert W. Pitcher. He died in 1981. She then married Charles Rettig. He preceded her in death.

Surviving are her daughter, Kimberly Valle, Davenport; son, Danny Pitcher, Michigan; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; siblings, Norma DeGraff, Charlotte Ditsworth, Raymond and Kenneth Eggemeier, Kenneth Bauscher, all Freeport, Ill.

Catherine Wood
Catherine J. Wood, 75, of Bettendorf, died Wednesday, June 20, 2007, at a group home for the elderly in Hillsboro, Ore.

A memorial service for Mrs. Wood will be at 3 p.m. Friday, June 29, at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf. Keeping with Mrs. Wood's wishes, cremation rites have been accorded.

She was born May 18, 1932, to Howard Judd and Julia Springer Judd. She married Dean M. Wood on Aug. 20, 1954.

Survivors (and spouses) include her spouse, Dean; children, Lynn (Chris) Wood, Tacoma, Wash., Julie (Ken Milder) Wood, Hillsboro, Dawn (George) Porter, Hampton, and Robin (Rodney) Buskirk, Eldridge; 11 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, William Judd.

Richard Anderson
Richard D. Anderson, 69, of Rock Island, died Sunday, June 24, 2007, at Trinity Medical Center, West Campus, Rock Island.

Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at DeRoo Funeral Home, Moline, where further arrangements are pending.
