Kathryn Peters, 84, of Schaumburg, Ill., died Saturday, Nov. 22, 2003.
Services were Saturday at Ebenezer Presbyterian Church, George.
Kathryn Harms was born Sept. 28, 1919, in George, the daughter of Mary and Ernest Harms. She graduated from George High School in 1937, then worked for George Telephone Co.
On Oct. 12, 1940, she married
Peter Peters. They farmed in the Melvin and Sibley areas 27 years and she worked at Sibley Creamery and Marguerite's in Sibley. They moved to Worthington, Minn., in 1967. She worked at JCPenney in Worthington until retiring in 1988.
Survivors include two sons, David of Minneapolis, Minn., and Ronald of St. Louis, Mo.; two daughters, Patricia Stevens of St. Louis and Cynthia Patton of Schaumburg; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and one sister, Gladys Krahling.
Alvin Kelderman, 69

Alvin Kelderman, 69, of Doon died suddenly Sunday, Nov. 23, 2003, at Merrill Pioneer Community Hospital, Rock Rapids.
Memorial services were Wednesday at Christian Reformed Church, Rock Rapids, with interment in Hillside cemetery , Doon.
Mr. Kelderman was born Jan. 29, 1934, at Hartford, S.D., the son of Henry and Tena (Drost) Kelderman. He grew up and attended country school near Doon and graduated from Doon High School in 1952. In January 1955, he entered the army and served active duty two years and reserve duty until 1963.
On Aug. 29, 1961, he married
Audrey Van Oort in Sanborn. They farmed in the Doon, Sanborn and Ellsworth, Minn., areas until December 1968 when they returned to the Doon area to farm. In 1981, he began working at Harvard Industries in Rock Valley, retiring in 2001.
Survivors include his wife; four sons, Gaylen and Leon, both of Maurice, Jeff of Orange City and Todd of Alton; one daughter, Mrs. Keith (Vicki) Swenson of Tea, S.D.; eight grandchildren; one brother, Don of Doon, and six sisters, Wilma Flynn of Whittier, Calif., Caroline Shutter of Moreno Valley, Calif., Tena Gorter of Luverne, Minn., Jeanette Lems of Doon and Priscella Spykerboer and Wilmanette Spykerboer, both of Ellsworth.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Lyle; four brothers, Albert, Henry, Walter and Lawrie, and one sister, Dorothy Stellinga.
Henry Van De Kieft, 84

Henry Van De Kieft, 84, of Rock Rapids died Monday, Nov. 24, 2003, at Rock Rapids Health Centre.
Services were Friday at First Reformed Church, Rock Rapids, with interment in Richland cemetery , Inwood.
Mr. Van De Kieft was born March 13, 1919, in Utrecht, The Netherlands, the son of Marinus and Josiena (Landzaat) Van De Kieft. He came to the United States when he was eight months old and grew up and attended school in the Rock Valley area. In January 1937, he left Iowa and eventually moved to California.
On May 8, 1941, he married
Johanna DeHeer at Artesia, Calif. He worked various dairy jobs and did yard work and gardening. While living in Rock Rapids, he worked two years at Kooiker Chevrolet and 23-1/2 years for Lyon County Road Department, retiring March 13, 1981. He became a resident of Rock Rapids Health Centre Nov. 12, 2003.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Marinus of Rock Valley and Henry Jr. of Canton, S.D.; two daughters, Mrs. Tony (Sadie) Van Grootheest of Hardwick, Minn., and Mrs. Carl (Joann) Nielson of St. George, Utah; 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Bill, Frank, Marinus Jr., Gerrit and John, and three sisters, Cora Brouwer, Josiena Hilt and Helena Reinsma.
Johanna In't Veld, 88

Johanna (Jansen) In't Veld, 88, of Rock Valley died Monday, Nov. 24, 2003, at Valley Manor.
Memorial services were Friday at First Christian Reformed Church, Rock Valley, with interment in Valley View cemetery .
Survivors include one brother, one sister, Mrs. Ed (Christine) Van Maanen of Doon, five stepchildren, many step grandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren.
Hilda Christians, 73
George, Iowa

Hilda Christians, 73, of George died Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2003, at George Good Samaritan Center.
Services were Saturday at First Baptist Church, rural George, with interment in the church cemetery .
Hilda Kramer was born April 16, 1930, near George, the daughter of Herman and Grace (Schneidermann) Kramer. She grew up and attended school near George.
On Jan. 25, 1949, she married
Delmar Christians. They lived near George and Little Rock. She became a resident of George Good Samaritan Center two and one-half years ago.
At First Baptist Church, she was an honorary member of Christian Hour Circle.
Survivors include her husband of North Syracuse, N.Y.; six sons, Fred J. of Rock Rapids, Herman, Roger, Jason and Chad, all of George, and Ted of Slayton, Minn.; three daughters, Mrs. Carl (Grace) Depo of Franklinton, N.C., Pearl Schiebler of North Syracuse and Mrs. Rodger (Heidi) Hess of Forest City; 29 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and one brother, Herman.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Ethel; one brother, Kriene, and an infant brother.
George Groen, 82
Rock Rapids, Iowa

George Groen, 82, of Rock Rapids died Sunday, March 21, 2004, at Merrill Pioneer Community Hospital, Rock Rapids.
Services were Thursday at Bethel Reformed Church, rural Ellsworth, Minn., with interment in the church cemetery .
Mr. Groen was born Sept. 20, 1921, rural Rock Rapids, the son of Diedrich and Aleida (Meyer) Groen. He grew up and attended country school northeast of Rock Rapids.
On Oct. 1, 1942, he married
Arlene Heikes in Ellsworth. They farmed the family farm, raised livestock and horses and participated in a threshing ring.
At Bethel Reformed Church, he served as an elder and deacon and parked cars for funerals over 30 years.
Survivors include his wife; one son, Gene of Rock Rapids; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one brother, Orvel of Ellsworth, and three sisters, Grace Walters of Hills, Minn., Ida DeBeer of Ellsworth and Sadena Nagel of Little Rock.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, Alan; four brothers, John, Benhard, Dick and Carl, and five sisters, Aalke Dreesen, Hattie Frey, Zena Hoting, Gertie Groen and Marie Van Anken.
