Peggy A. Fritz, age 55 of Marengo, died Wednesday evening, December 17, 2008 at the Belle Plaine Nursing and Rehab Center following an extended illness. Funeral Services: 11:00 A.M. Saturday, December 20, 2008, Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo with Rev. Katie Dawson officiating. Burial will be in the Marengo Cemetery. Friends may call after 9:00 A.M. Saturday at the funeral home.
She is survived by her mother, Eileen Fritz of Marengo; a brother Robert Fritz (Peggy) also of Marengo and a sister Jan Graesser (Steve) of High Amana and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Theodore Fritz.
Peggy Ann Fritz was born February 14, 1953 in Williamsburg, Iowa, the daughter of Theodore and Eileen Gorsch Fritz. She graduated from Iowa Valley High School of Marengo in 1973. Peggy was employed at Amana Refrigeration, and then at Colonial Manor of Amana. She enjoyed crocheting, puzzles, playing cards and baking. She especially enjoyed watching her nieces and nephews grow.

Hazel Marie Brannian, age 88, of Brooklyn, died Thursday, February 12, 2009 at the Grinnell Regional Medical Center, Grinnell following an extended illness. Funeral Services: 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, February 17, 2009, Grace United Methodist Church, Brooklyn with Rev. John Dodds officiating. Burial will be in the Brooklyn Memorial Cemetery, Brooklyn, Iowa. Friends may call from 4 to 7 P.M. Monday, February 16, 2009 at Kloster Funeral Home, Brooklyn. Memorials may be contributed to Grace United Methodist Church, Brooklyn.
Hazel is survived by her children, Roger and wife Deborah of Ankeny, Laurel Seeley of Huntsville, MO and John and wife Anita of Sioux Falls, SD; 3 grandchildren, Ben and Tom Brannian of Prairie Village, KS, and Austin Brannian of Ankeny, and a sister Doris Adamson of Des Moines. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Maynard E. Brannian.
Hazel Marie Adamson was born December 28, 1920 in Centerville, IA, the daughter of Karl C. and Mamie Masters Adamson. She graduated from the Williamson High School in 1938, and received a teaching certificate from Chariton Junior College. She married Maynard E. Brannian on February 23, 1946 in Chariton, Iowa. He died in 1977.
Hazel taught in the schools in Lucas County, and Rhodes and Brookyn, IA. She also worked at BGM Elementary during the 1970’s. Hazel enjoyed quilting, painting and genealogy. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them, especially with the grandchildren. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Brooklyn, the Poweshiek Genealogy and Historical Society, the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Columbian Club, and Social Circle Club. She also belonged to the quilting guilds of Montezuma and Grinnell.

Margaret A. Denzler, age 87 of Marengo, died Saturday morning, February 7, 2009 at Rose Haven Nursing Home, Marengo following an extended illness. Funeral Services: 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, February 11, 2009 at the First United Methodist Church, Marengo with Rev. Katie Dawson officiating. Burial will be in the Marengo Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 7 P.M. Tuesday, February 10, 2009 at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo. Memorials may be contributed to the First United Methodist Church or the Christian Crusaders.
Margaret is survived by two sons, Jeffrey “Jerry” Denzler and wife Carole of Marengo, and Stephen and wife Judy of Phoenix, AZ; a daughter, Marilyn Koch of Ames; six grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Also surviving is a brother Richard Reece of Phoenix. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Roy in 2008, and a sister Norma Reece in 1997.
Margaret A. Reece was born May 28, 1921 in Des Moines, Iowa, the daughter of Ralph and Jennie Newby Reece. She graduated from Marengo High School in 1939 and went to work at Collins Radio as a secretary. Margaret married Roy Denzler, Jr. on March 12, 1941 at Trinity Episcopal Church in Iowa City. She was employed at Amana Refrigeration as a secretary to the president, George Foerstner for 31 years. Following her retirement she worked part time as Mr. Foerstner’s personal secretary. Margaret was a member of First United Methodist Church in Marengo and PEO Chapter AU.

Nancy Jo Myers, age 61 of Blairstown, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, February 4, 2009, at her home surrounded by her loving family. Funeral Services: 11:00 A.M. Saturday, February 7, 2009, First United Methodist Church, Marengo with Roseann Hayek officiating. Inurnment will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, rural Cedar Rapids, at a later date. Friends may call from 4 to 8 P.M. Friday, February 6, 2009 at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo.
Nancy is survived by her loving husband Loren; her devoted sons, Michael and wife Becky, and Scott and wife Annette, and her “five beautiful grandchildren”, Lauren, Nicole, Paige, Luke and Jill. She is also survived by four sisters Donna Meier and husband Steve, Joyce Schumacher and husband Alan, Karen Azevedo, and Mary Holsclaw and husband Ray; her brother Dennis Dimmer; a sister-in-law, Janna Dimmer; best friend Kandy Childs and husband Denny, as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts and cousins. She also leaves behind her precious Cocker Spaniel, Dolly. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Elaine Prieto and Linda Bair and a brother Robert Dimmer.
Nancy Jo Dimmer was born July 22, 1947 at Jackson County Hospital in Maquoketa, Iowa, the daughter of Eldon and Erma Harding Dimmer. The family lived in Baldwin until moving to Marengo in 1955. She received her education in the Iowa Valley Schools. Nancy married Loren Myers on September 19, 1964 at the First Presbyterian Church in Marengo. She was employed at Coon Creek Telephone Company in Blairstown for the past 18 years. Prior to that she worked at the Amana Woolen Mills Sales Room in Middle Amana, and the Diet Centers in Cedar Rapids and Marengo. Nancy enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and her trips to Guttenberg, Iowa. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
A special thank you to St. Luke’s Hospice, Dr. Jolynn Glanzer and special friend Roseann Hayek, all who were so vital in making her final days comfortable and for all the care and support. Your time, phone calls and visits are something Nancy’s family are so grateful for and will never forget.

Sarah Jean Meyer, age 49 of Williamsburg, Iowa, died Monday, February 2, 2009 at her home following a courageous battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her loving family and friends. Celebration of Life Service: 10:30 A.M. Friday, February 6, 2009, St. Paul Lutheran Church, Williamsburg with Rev. Carl Cloeter officiating. Burial will be in the St. Paul Cemetery, Williamsburg. Friends may call from 4 to 8 P.M. Thursday at St. Paul Lutheran Fellowship Hall, in Williamsburg. Memorials may be directed to the Lutheran Interparish School for tuitions and the Iowa City Hospice. Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo is in charge of arrangements.
Sarah is survived by her husband Warren P. Meyer, her children Jeremy Lee Davies (Dawn) of Williamsburg, and Deanna Rose Bohrn of Williamsburg; 2 grandsons, Trenton Leevid Davies and Davin Marshall Harper; her mother Erna Davies of Williamsburg; her father-in-law and mother-in-law Wayne and MaryAnne Meyer of Williamsburg; a special dear friend, Martha Kimm of Marengo; brother and sisters in-law, Bill Meyer (Carol) of Ladora, Michelle Meyer of Carlisle; Marna Vogt (Kevin) of Ladora, Mellissa Zuber (Bart) of Conroy, and Miriam Rinehart (Kevin) of Waukee: brothers and sisters, John Davies (Linda) of Williamsburg, Linda Lillie (William) of Marengo, Kristine Groth (Lyle) of Ellsworth and James Davies (Melissa) of Williamsburg; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father David John Davies in June of 2008.
Sarah Jean Davies was born December 21, 1959 in Marengo, Iowa the daughter of David and Erna Iburg Davies. She attended Lutheran Interparish School and graduated from Williamsburg High School in 1978. She graduated from LaJames Cosmetology School in Cedar Rapids and was employed at Hair Supply in Marengo for 22 years. Sarah married Warren P. Meyer on February 7, 1997 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Waco, Nebraska. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Williamsburg.
Sarah loved to dress up for July 4th parades, Halloween, and for surprise parties. She enjoyed playing cards and “hanging out” with her Purple Hat Club. But she especially loved to spend time with her family and friends.

Catherine I. “Pat” Greenlee, age 93 of Belle Plaine, died Thursday, January 29, 2009 at the Belle Plaine Nursing and Rehab Center following an extended illness. Per her wishes, her body was donated to medical science. Graveside services will be held at a later date in Applington, Iowa. Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo is in charge of arrangements.
She is survived by three step-children and 5 step-grandchildren and several step-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews and their families. Catherine was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and ten siblings.
Catherine I. “Pat” Folkers was born January 22, 1916 in Applington, Iowa, the daughter of Frederick and Gertie DeVries Folkers. She received her education in the Applinton schools and graduated from Applington High School in 1930. Catherine was united in marriage to Clayton Greenlee on July 21, 1951. She was employed at Sheller Globe in Iowa City for 20 years. Pat also did painting and wallpapering in the the Belle Plaine area and also was a waitress. She loved to fish and play bingo. She was a basketball player in high school and loved to reminisce about winning 9 “best of the state” team championships. She was a member of the German Reform Church in Applington, Iowa. She moved to the Belle Plaine Nursing and Rehab Center in October of 2007 after a falling injury and consequent surgery.

Janice Marie Roller, age 66, of Grinnell, died Monday, January 26, 2009 at the Grinnell Regional Medical Center following a brief illness. Funeral Services: 10:30 A.M. Friday, January 30, 2009, Grace United Methodist Church, Brooklyn with Rev. John Epperson officiating. Burial will be in Brooklyn Memorial Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 P.M. Thursday, January 29, 2009 at Kloster Funeral Home, Brooklyn. A memorial fund has been established.
She is survived by her husband Dr. Donald Roller; her children, Dan Roller (Karol) of Sigourney, Kevin Roller (Angie) of Brooklyn, Diana Kline (Ed) of Brooklyn and Tammy Rockwell (Tony) of Sully; ten grandchildren, Mindy Venz (Nathan) of O’Fallon, MO, Haley Roller of Iowa City, Danielle and Brandon Roller of Brooklyn, Marc, Devan, Eddie, and Jack Kline of Brooklyn, and Taryn and Riley Rockwell of Sully. Also surviving is a brother Ron Jones (Jean) of Grinnell. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister Virginia Koehn, and a brother-in-law, Edwin Koehn.
Janice Marie Jones was born May 10, 1942 in Marengo, Iowa, the daughter of Dale and Phyllis Jordan Jones. She graduated from Millersburg High School in 1959 and attended AIB in Des Moines, and received a degree in accounting. She married Dr. Donald Roller on July 23, 1961 at the Millersburg Methodist Church. She was employed at the Shortstop as a cashier for the last ten years, and was very fond of the people she worked with.
Janice loved to camp at Diamond Lake, Hawkeye basketball, solving crosswords and cooking. She spent her leisure time with her dogs and watching game shows. But she especially enjoyed the time she spent with her family.

Marjorie K. Misel age 88 of Amana, formerly of Marengo, died Friday, January 23, 2009 at Brooklyn Community Estates, Brooklyn, Iowa following an extended illness. Funeral Services: 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, January 28, 2009, First Presbyterian Church, Marengo, Iowa with Rev. Gerald Rife officiating. Burial will be in the Marengo Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 7 P.M. Tuesday, January 27, 2009 at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo. A memorial fund has been established.
She is survived by five daughters, Myrna Leinart of Fort Collins, CO, Barbara Kellenberger (Jerry) of South Amana, Iowa, Frances Misel (Jesse Gomez) of Shertz, TX, Mary Kreis (Bill) of Marengo, and Virginia Possehl (Gene) of South Amana; nine grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jasper in 1995, two brothers, Jack and Elmer Simmons, a grandson, Mark Leinart, a great-grandson, Jacob Hendricks and a son-in-law, Bob Leinart.
Marjorie Kathleen Simmons was born February 13, 1920 in Iowa County, Iowa, the daughter of Fredrick and Carrie Jacobs Simmons. She received her education in the Iowa County schools and married Jasper Misel, Jr. on April 11, 1940 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. She was a homemaker and also worked for Walt’s Dry Cleaners in Marengo. Marjorie was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Marengo for over 50 years.

Cora B. Kriegel, age 73 of Brooklyn, died Friday, January 23, 2009 at her home surrounded by her family, following an extended illness. Mass of Christian Burial: 10:30 A.M. Monday, January 26, 2009, St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Brooklyn with Father Philip Ryan officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Brooklyn. Friends may call from 4 to 7 P.M. Sunday, January 25, 2009 at Kloster Funeral Home, Brooklyn with a Rosary recited at 7 P.M. A memorial fund has been established.
Cora is survived by her husband Lawrence; six children and 21 grandchildren; Phyllis McGowan (Myron) of Vinton and her children Jason Forgy of Orlando, FL, Aaron Forgy of Madison, WI, and Lucas Forgy of Milwaukee, WI; Eugene Kriegel (Chris) of Brooklyn and their children Amy Smith (John) of Marengo, Ryan Kriegel (Cari) of Marengo, and Angela Grimm (Chad) of Roosevelt, Utah; Susan Everett (John) of Atkins and their children Jacob and Nathen; Phillip Kriegel (Teresa) and their children Amber Coleman (Pat), Ashley Krebill (Adam), and Steven Kriegel all of Brooklyn; Joe Kriegel (Kim) of Brooklyn and their children Caleb, Colby, and Lacey; and Diana Swartz (Ken) of Bettendorf and their children Kalen, Kalvin, Micah, Isaiah, Josiah, Kaylee, and Anna; and 9 great-grandchildren, Zach, Ben, Samantha, Jayden, Mishayla, Alexa, Dominic, Aliana, and Averee. Also surviving are two sisters, Grace Bradley and Minnie Owens, both of Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Cora Bernice Raley was born March 2, 1935 in Colorado Springs, Colorado, the daughter of Cecil and Anne Hale Raley. She received her education in the rural schools and attended Malcom High School. Cora married Lawrence Paul Kriegel on October 31, 1951 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Brooklyn. She was employed as a bookkeeper in Vinton until 1977 when the couple relocated to Brooklyn. She then was employed at the Brooklyn Building Center until her retirement. Cora was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Brooklyn, the Altar and Rosary Society, the American Legion Auxiliary, and the Business Women Association of Brooklyn. Cora also was secretary and activity director of the Grove Park in San Juan, TX. She enjoyed cross stitch, camping, fishing and heading to Texas for the winters. She especially cherished the time she spent with her family, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
