BLUE GRASS, Iowa -- Services for Reinhardt H. Lage, of Blue Grass, will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Blue Grass Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in Durant Cemetery . Visitation is 3-7 p.m. Wednesday at Bentley Funeral Homes, Durant, and one hour before the services Thursday at the church. Mr. Lage died Sunday, Nov. 14, 1999, at Genesis Medical Center-West Campus, Davenport. He retired in 1980 after farming in Cedar and Scott counties. He was born Jan. 15, 1913, in Cedar County, to Julius and Anna (Buck) Lage. He married Gladys G. Moeller on Feb. 5, 1938, in Davenport. Reinhardt was a member of Blue Grass Presbyterian Church, Quad-City Times Plus 60 Club, Walcott Senior Citizens and Golden Wedding Club. He enjoyed playing cards and with his grandchildren. Memorials may be made to Blue Grass Presbyterian Church and Walcott Senior Citizens. Survivors include his wife; a daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Ken Motz, Bettendorf; a son, Dallas, Frederick, Colo.; grandchildren, Troy Motz, Moline, and Erika Wagner, Bethlehem, Pa.; great-grandchildren, Cody Motz, Emily Motz and Jacob Wagner; sisters, Evelyn (Mrs. Elmer) Arp, New Braunfels, Texas, and Martha Westphal, Minneapolis; and a brother, Harry Lage and his wife Margaret, New Braunfels. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Arnold Lage; and sisters, Hilda Klahn, Edna Baker and Elsie Mordhorst.

Harry Jr. Hicks
MAQUOKETA, Iowa -- Services for Harry Jr. Hicks, of Maquoketa, will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at First Lutheran Church, Maquoketa. Burial will be in Union Cemetery , rural Maquoketa. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today at Carson & Son Funeral and Cremation Services, Maquoketa. Mr. Hicks died Sunday, Nov. 14, 1999, at Maquoketa Care Center, after an extended illness. He and his father, Harrie Hicks, operated the American Petroleum Gas Station, Maquoketa. After his father died, he continued the operation of the business and Empire Propane Gas business, known as Hicks and Benton. He was most notably known as a soloist who sang at funerals and weddings in the Maquoketa area for more than 50 years. He was born Aug. 15, 1917, near Elwood. He married Lois Bramer in 1954 in Maquoketa. She died in 1988. Memorials may be made to Harry Jr. Hicks Memorial Fund. Survivors include a son, Warren, Maquoketa; and two grandchildren.

Stanley Powers
KEWANEE, Ill. -- Memorial services for Stanley A. "Butch" Powers, of Peoria, formerly of Kewanee, will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Rux Funeral Home, Kewanee. No visitation will be held. The body was cremated. Inurnment will be in Pleasant View Cemetery , Kewanee, with military services by Kewanee Veterans Council. Mr. Powers died Sunday, Nov. 14, 1999, at his home. He was employed 33 years as a mechanic at Caterpillar Inc., East Peoria. He was born May 31, 1941, in Kewanee. He married Patricia Koptitz in 1966 in Peoria. During the Vietnam War, he served in the Army. Memorials may be made to Anshai Emeth Temple, 5614 N. University Ave., Peoria, Ill., 61604. Survivors include his wife, Cleveland, Ohio; a daughter, Paula Kounse, Central City, Iowa; sons, Larry, Peoria, Stanley E., Las Vegas, and Robert, Cleveland; four grandchildren; and a sister, Shirley Marsh, and brothers, Danny "Skip" and Terry "Bones," all of Kewanee.

Ellsworth Brooks
MAQUOKETA, Iowa -- Services for Ellsworth W. "Bill" Brooks, of Maquoketa, formerly of Bellevue, will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church, Maquoketa. Burial will be in Presbyterian Cemetery , Bellevue. Visitation is 4-7 p.m. today at Haylock, O'Hara & Lahey Funeral Home, Maquoketa. Mr. Brooks died Sunday, Nov. 14, 1999, at Jackson County Public Hospital, Maquoketa, after a brief illness. He had been a coach, teacher and administrator at United Township High School, East Moline, and high school principal in Maquoketa and Tipton. He owned and operated Bellevue Sportsland and Radio Shack for 16 years. He retired in 1992. He was born Jan. 16, 1927, in Kirksville, Mo. He married Carolyn Morriss in 1950 in Kirksville. During World War II, he served in the Navy. A memorial fund has been established. Survivors include his wife; daughters, Marisa Brooks-de Dios, Pittsburg, Calif., and Jennifer Williams, Terre Haute, Ind.; a son, Mark, Watertown, S.D.; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Linda Herrin, Kansas City, Mo.; and a brother, Stephen, Logansport, Ind.

Henry Soenksen
CLINTON, Iowa -- Services for Henry G. "Bud" Soenksen, of 5527 44th Ave. S., will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Clinton Chapel of Snell-Zornig Funeral Home. Burial will be in Clinton Lawn Cemetery . Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Mr. Soenksen died Sunday, Nov. 14, 1999, at the railroad crossing in the 5800 block of 44th Avenue South, rural Clinton County. He was a lifelong farmer and had worked at Pinkerton Security Services, Moline. He was employed nearly 14 years as a security guard at Equistar Chemicals, Clinton. He was born May 8, 1925, in Clinton. He married Catherine "Katie" Inman in 1951 in Clinton. She died in 1989. A memorial fund has been established. Survivors include sons, Gary, Burlington, and Greg, Cedar Rapids; five grandsons; a great-grandson; and sisters, Allene Daldorf, Clinton, and Mona Pebsworth, Morris.

Joe Bosten
MUSCATINE, Iowa -- Joe M. Bosten, formerly of 108 Parkington Drive, Muscatine, died Monday, Nov. 15, 1999, at Muscatine Care Center. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Grace Lutheran Church, Muscatine. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery , Muscatine. Visitation is 4-7 p.m. today at Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home, Muscatine. Mr. Bosten retired in 1975 as a letter carrier after 30 years with the U.S. Postal Service. He was born July 24, 1908, in Muscatine. He married Hazel Sauer in 1937 in Muscatine County. She died in 1991. During World War II, he served in the Army. Memorials may be made to the church. Survivors include a son, John, Hampton, Ill.; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Leland Meyer
ORION, Ill. -- Memorial services for Leland M. Meyer, of Shreveport, La., formerly of Orion, will be 3:30 p.m. Friday at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Orion. No visitation will be held. Burial will be in Lutheran Cemetery , Orion. Mr. Meyer died Nov. 8, 1999, in Shreveport. Kirk, Huggins & Esterdahl Funeral Home, Orion, is in charge of arrangements. He taught vocal and instrumental music in Stronghurst and then Orion, where he was director of music from 1948 to his retirement in 1971. He was choir director for 23 years at St. Paul Lutheran Church. He was born March 14, 1911, in Plainfield, Iowa. He married Anna Oelberg, who died in 1963. He married Fern Slaybaugh in 1969. She died in 1997. Memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church Music Program. Survivors include his stepfamily, Jack, Nancy and Jessica Slaybaugh, all of Shreveport.

Irene Schau
GRAND MOUND, Iowa -- Irene M. Schau, of rural Grand Mound, died Sunday, Nov. 14, 1999, at Genesis Medical Center-East Campus, Davenport. Private services will be held later. Schultz Funeral Home, Grand Mound, is in charge of arrangements. Irene Wilslef was born July 17, 1921, in Grand Mound. She married Merlyn "Buck" Schau in 1954 in Muscatine. They farmed in the Grand Mound area. Survivors include her husband.

Donald Brackemyer
FULTON, Ill. -- Donald J. Brackemyer, of Wyndcrest Nursing Home, Clinton, Iowa, formerly of Fulton, died Monday, Nov. 15, 1999, at the nursing home. Services will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Fulton Chapel, Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home. Burial will be in Grove Hill Cemetery , Fulton, with military services. Visitation is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Mr. Brackemyer retired in 1993 as a meat inspector for the Illinois Department of Agriculture. Before that, he owned and operated Fulton Locker from 1961 to 1977; drove a truck for Carnations Milk Plant, Morrison; and farmed in rural Morrison. He was born Sept. 11, 1920, in Round Grove. He married Ruth Montague in 1940 in Morrison. During World War II, he served in the Army. Memorials may be made to Trinity Reformed Church, Fulton. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Janice Sheetz, Rockford; sons, Arlyn, River Falls, Wis., and Dean, Fulton; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and sisters, Jessie Vander Eide and Irma Tiesman, both of Morrison.

Mary Ruth Wallace
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- Mary Ruth Wallace, Albuquerque, formerly of Moline, died Saturday, Nov. 13, 1999, at St. Joseph Northeast Heights Hospital. Services will be 2:30 p.m. Friday at Fairview Memorial Park, with her grandsons serving as pallbearers. Visitation is 9 a.m. to noon Friday at Strong-Thorne Mortuary, Albuquerque. Mary Ruth Wilson was born Sept. 25, 1914. She married Russell E. Wallace. He died Oct. 11, 1999. She was a long-standing member of Elim Covenant Church, Moline. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a favorite charity. Survivors include a daughter, Karleen Walters, London, England; grandsons and wives, Danny and Catherine Walters, Albuquerque, Mark and Linda Walters, Lakeland, Fla., Curtis Walters, Tijeras, N.M., and Steve and Maria Walters, Salt Lake City; and nine great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by a brother, Ralph Wilson.

Leonard Weaver
EAST MOLINE -- Leonard J. Weaver, of 3625 71/2 St., died Monday, Nov. 15, 1999, at Trinity Medical Center-West Campus, Rock Island. Services will be Thursday at 10:20 a.m. at DeRoo Funeral Home, Moline, and 11 a.m. at St. Anne's Catholic Church, East Moline. Burial will be in National Cemetery , Rock Island Arsenal, with military services by Moline American Legion Post 246. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with a rosary at 7:30 p.m. Mr. Weaver retired Jan. 1, 1983, as manager of overseas administration after 36 years of employment at at Deere & Co. He was born Dec. 17, 1923, in Davenport, to George and Katherine (O'Dundon) Weaver. He married Mary Jeanne Walsh on Aug. 31, 1946, in Moline. During World War II, he served with the Marine Corps, 1st Marine Division, in the Southwest Pacific. He was awarded the Purple Heart. He was a member of St. Anne's Catholic Church and Short Hills Country Club, East Moline. Memorials may be made to St. Anne's Catholic Church or Alleman High School, Rock Island. Survivors include his wife; daughters, Sheila W. and husband Steven Sarovich, Naperville, Ill., and Kelly Ann Weaver, Clinton, Iowa; sons, Michael J. Weaver, Silvis, Ill., and Sean P. and wife Beth Weaver, Hutchinson, Kan.; grandchildren, Anna, Naperville, and Brent, Silvis; a sister, Lavonne Cheney, Phoenix; and a brother, Richard Weaver, Sherrard, Ill.

DAVENPORT -- Services for Frank Cover, of Davenport, will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Runge Mortuary, Davenport. Burial will be in National Cemetery , Rock Island Arsenal. Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Mr. Cover died Sunday, Nov. 14, 1999, at Manor Care, Davenport, after an extended illness. He retired in 1984 from the U.S. Postal Service, Davenport and Rock Island. He was born July 17, 1920, in Makanda, Ill. He married Barbara Willetts in 1978 in Davenport. During World War II, he served in the military. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society or American Diabetes Association. Survivors include his wife; sons, Ronald, Blue Grass, Iowa, and Terry, Atlanta; a stepson, Dave Willetts II, California; stepdaughters, Cheryl Nagel, Dallas, and Sonia Winn, Andalusia, Ill.; two granddaughters; two step-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; and brothers, Albert, Rock Island, and Robert, Davenport.

Edwin Hatton
YORKTOWN, Ind. -- Services for Edwin H. Hatton, of Yorktown, will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Northside Church of God, Muncie. Burial will be in Gardens of Memory. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today at Parson Mortuary, Muncie, and one hour before the service Wednesday at the church. Mr. Hatton died Sunday, Nov. 14, 1999, at Ball Memorial Hospital after an extended illness. He was employed in many departments since 1964 at Ball State, most recently as a firefighter in the boiler room. During World War II, he served in the Navy. Memorials may be made to American Heart Association. Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Oneida; a daughter, Carol Craig, Clarksville, Tenn.; sons, Harold, Eldridge, Iowa, and Clifford, Phillip and Carl; nine grandchildren; sisters, Mary Holsinger, Mae Mottweiler and Margaret Hatton; and brothers, Lowell, Donald and Marshall.

MOLINE -- Evelyn A. Johnson, of Scottsdale, Ariz., formerly of 545 21st Ave., Moline, died Monday, Nov. 15, 1999, at Beverly Care Center, Scottsdale. Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Moline. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery , Moline. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Esterdahl Mortuary Ltd., Moline. Evelyn Meegan was born May 8, 1914, in Moline. She married Seth Johnson in 1937 in Moline. He died in 1981. Memorials may be made to the church or Dignita-Odyssey Hospice. Survivors include daughters, Kay Linney, Phoenix, and Karna Walther, Scottsdale; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a brother, William Meegan, Moline.

Harlon Wheatley
MOLINE -- Services for Harlon L. Wheatley, of Moline, will be 10:30 am, Saturday at Rock Island Memorial Park. No visitation will be held. Mr. Wheatley died Thursday, Nov. 11, 1999, at Palmetto Richland Memorial Hospital, Columbia, S.C. Wheelan Funeral Home, Rock Island, is in charge of arrangements. He was a plumber and worked through the Plumber and Pipefitter's Union Local 25, Rock Island, for 33 years. He served as president of Union Local 25 and chairman of the board of trustees of the Benefit Funds. He had served several years as a delegate to the Illinois Pipe Trades annual meeting and also had served as a member of the contract negotiating committee on several occasions. He was a football official with the Illinois High School Association and umpire with the Amateur Softball Association. He was born June 22, 1947, in Hazen, Ark. He married Kathy Flynn in 1967 in Rock Island. Memorials may be made to Gilda's Club, Davenport, or International Myeloma Foundation, 2129 Stanley Hills Drive, Los Angeles, Calif., 90046. Survivors include his wife; daughters, Kelly McDermott, Dubuque, Iowa, and Kimberly Moreno, Macomb, Ill.; three grandchildren; sisters, Shirley Launius, Little Rock, Ark., Margie Neeley, Benton, Ark., Marcie King, Rock Island, Velma Prine, Hazen, Versa Jones, Clarendon, Ark., Earnie McWhorter, Benton, Ark., Sue Rochell, Rock Island, and Glenda McCannon and Sandra Ruiz, both of Andalusia, Ill.; and brothers, Tom, Rock Island, James, Denver, and John, Moline.

Michael Walsh
DAVENPORT -- Michael P. Walsh, of Davenport, died Saturday, Nov. 13, 1999, at Genesis Medical Center-East Campus, Davenport, after an extended illness. No local visitation or services are scheduled. Burial will be at a later date in Rhode Island. Runge Mortuary and Crematory, Davenport, is in charge of arrangement. Mr. Walsh was a carpenter by trade. He was born Nov. 11, 1956, in North Kingston, R.I. He married Brenda Laycock in 1982 in Cranston, R.I. Memorials may be made to American Diabetes Association. Survivors include his wife; children, Devan, Megan and Michael Adam; his mother and stepfather, Joan and Rodney Miller, Santa Ana, Calif.; sisters, Kelley Nesbitt, Silverdale, Wash., and Tracey Walsh and Michelle Ricard, both of California; and brothers, John Walsh, of Rhode Island, and Lee and Scott Miller, both of California.

BETTENDORF -- Jimmy A. Huddleston, of Bettendorf, died Monday, Nov. 15, 1999, at Genesis Medical Center-East Campus, Davenport. Private services will be held. No visitation will be held. McGinnis, Chambers & Sass Funeral Home, Bettendorf, is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Huddleston was employed as a laborer in the construction industry. He was born Sept. 21, 1968, in Quincy, Ill. He married Terri Gering in 1996 in Rock Island. Memorials may be made to the family. Survivors include his wife; his parents, Lyndell and Sandra Huddleston, Quincy; brothers, Ed and Sam, both of Des Moines, David, Purdy, Mo., and Tim, Brush, Colo.; and his grandmother, Dorothy Dyer, Quincy.

SILVIS, Ill. -- Services for Lucille O. Sammon, of Crosstown Square, will be 11 a.m. Friday at Wendt Funeral Rome, Moline. Burial will be in Rose Lawn Memorial Estates, Moline. Visitation is 2-4 and 6-7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Mrs. Sammon died Monday, Nov. 15, 1999, at Illini Hospital, Silvis. Before her marriage, she taught in rural schools in Monroe County, Iowa. Lucille Peterson was born June 19, 1907, in Hiteman, Iowa. She married Orville Sammon in 1928 in Ottumwa, Iowa. He died in 1991. Memorials may be made to Grace United Methodist Church, East Moline. Survivors include daughters, Shirley Albrecht, Rock Island, and Sharon Saunders, Moline; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and sisters, Josephine VanBuskirk and Phyllis Felkner, both of East Moline.
