NORA SPRINGS - Michael E. Cannon, 46, died Saturday (July 3, 1999) at St. Marys Hospital, Rochester, Minn.
A funeral Mass will be held at 10;30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph's Church, Mason City, with the Rev. Michael Schueller officiating. Burial will be in the Rock Falls Cemetery.

RAYMOND WATTERSON CHENEY
TROY, Ohio -Raymond Watterson Cheney, 84, died Sunday (July 4, 1999) at Upper Valley Medical Center, Troy, Ohio.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 8, at First Presbyterian Church, Troy, Ohio, with the Rev. Richard Culp officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery , Troy, Ohio.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Baird Funeral Home, 555 N. market St., Troy, Ohio.
Memorials may be directed to First Presbyterian Church, Troy, Ohio.
Raymond was born Sept. 13, 1914, in Greene, the son of William Harold and Grace (Watterson) Cheney.
He graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with a degree in education. He retired from Troy High School in 1975 after 29 and a half years of teaching Industrial Arts. He was also a long-time wrestling coach at Troy High School.
Raymond was a master craftsman woodworker and a amateur wrestling champion. He was a member of the Iowa Wrestling Hall of Fame. He was also a member of First Presbyterian Church and a World War II veteran, serving in the U.S. Navy.
He is survived by a daughter, Barbara and Larry Buttermore of Westerville, Ohio; two sons, David and Peggy Cheney of Fort Worth, Texas, and Tom and Shanda Cheney of Gahanna, Ohio; a brother, Paul Cheney of Greene; two sisters, Ardis Sarchett of Ames and Audrey Wills of St. Mary's, Pa.; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Raymond was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary (Probasco) Cheney in 1989, and a brother, Frank Cheney.

BRITT - George E. Drabek, 75, passed away Saturday (July 3, 1999) at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa, Mason City.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 7, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Duncan with the Rev. Craig Steimel officiating. Burial will take place in St. John's Cemetery , Duncan. Military graveside services will be conducted by the VFW and American Legion Post of Britt.
Friends may greet the family after 4 p.m. Tuesday at Wenceslaus Catholic Church and one hour prior to the service at the church Wednesday. A parish wake service will begin at 7 p.m. and a Catholic Workman rosary at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the church.
Ewing Funeral Chapel is in charge of all arrangements.
George, the son of James and Frances (Wellik) Drabek, was born at home in rural Duncan on Oct. 20, 1923. He went to country school in Garfield Township.
He worked with his dad and brothers for Drabek & Sons Construction for several years before serving in the United States Navy on the U.S.S. Tekesta before being discharged in June of 1946. He then went back to work with his dad before going on to work for Curries Mfg. for 21 years until his retirement in 1985.
He was united in marriage with Edith Holck on Oct. 14, 1947, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Duncan. The couple resided in the Duncan area all their married life.
George was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, American Legion in Britt and the Catholic Workmen Branch No. 51 of Duncan. He enjoyed his retirement doing woodworking, being outside, playing his accordion and especially being with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Edith, and eight children, Rita and her husband, Terry Norstrud, of Fernandina Beach, Fla., Joyce and her husband, Jerry Uhlenhake, of Orlando, Fla., Jeanette and her husband, Don Priebe, of Mason City, Dennis and his wife, Pat, of Garner, Vivian and her husband, Kenny Sankey, of Pensacola, Fla., Pauline Goll of Garner, Rosemary and her husband, Brent Weaver, of Garner, Denise and her husband, Rick Sankey, of Garner; 20 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two sisters, Marie Hejlik of Rockwell and Clara Malek and her husband, Ernie, of Britt; and three brothers, Jim and his wife, Vera, of Des Moines, Tom and his wife, Elaine, of Britt, and Bill of Madison, Wis.
George was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother, James Jr.; two sisters, Rose Ward and Helen Townsend; and two brothers, Frank and Raymond Drabek.
