DOROTHY H. BOOK
FOREST CITY - Dorothy H. Book, 72, of Forest City, passed away Wednesday (July 7, 1999) at the Hancock County Memorial Hospital, Britt.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, with the Rev. David Samuelson officiating. Interment will be at the Madison Township Cemetery , south of Forest City.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Petersen Lund Funeral Home, 505 N. Clark St., and will continue one hour prior to services at the church.
Dorothy Helen Book, the daughter of Palmer and Mary (Johnson) Branstad, was born April 10, 1927, at Leland. She attended school at Leland, where she graduated from high school and then worked at various jobs in the area.
On April 17, 1943, she was united in marriage to Albert L. Book at Albert Lea, Minn. They made their home in Forest City, where they raised their children. Dorothy enjoyed spending time with her family, especially watching them participate in athletics. She also enjoyed playing bingo, knitting sweaters for the church, crocheting and doing needle-point.
She was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church and the American Legion Auxiliary.
She is survived by her husband, Albert Book, of Forest City; six children, Lanne Book and his wife, Patty, of Clear Lake, Duane Book and his wife, Mary Lou, of Fertile, Gary Book of Forest City, Patty Brighton of Forest City, Karen Brock and her husband, Rick, of Forest City, and Nancy Kabe and her husband, Roger, of Northwood; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a brother, Marvin Branstad and his wife, Doris, of Aurora, Colo.; two sisters, Bertha Carter of Twin Lake, Minn., and Margie Miller of Forest City; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Bernard and Merle Branstad; two great-grandchildren; and a nephew, Dennis Branstad.

ISABEL LETCHER
BUFFALO CENTER - Funeral services for Isabel Letcher, 86, of Buffalo Center, will be 1:30 p.m. Friday at the First Congregational Church in Buffalo Center, with Pastor David Langer officiating. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery , Buffalo Center.
The visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Winter Funeral Home in Buffalo Center and one hour prior to services at the church.
Isabel Letcher, daughter of John and Catherine (Bonk) Letcher, was born Nov. 25, 1912, at Emery, S.D.
She was married to Robert James Vanhoose, of Collesville, Mo., on Sept. 16, 1936, in Buffalo Center, until his death on Feb. 19, 1974.
On May 5, 1975, she was married to Orrin H. Letcher of Phoenix, Ariz. She lived in Phoenix until the time of Orrin's death on March 22, 1980.
Isabel passed away on Tuesday (July 6, 1999) at the University Hospital in Iowa City, at the age of 86.
Isabel was a member of the First Congregational Church in Buffalo Center, the American legion Ladies Auxiliary and was very active in the Women's Fellowship of the First Congregational Church.
She is survived by a stepdaughter, Eloise Hogue and her husband, Charles, of Orlando, Fla.; a stepson, Elroy Letcher and his wife, Lorraine, of Sierra Vista, Ariz.; six stepgrandsons; three stepdaughters; five nephews, Marvin Behrends and his wife, Lois, of Tumwater, Wash., Elwyn Letcher and his wife, Ann, of Spencer, Merlyn Letcher and his wife, Barbara, of Waldport, Ore., Lyle Letcher and his wife, Shirley, of Romona, Calif., and Loran Letcher and his wife, Diane, of Minneapolis; three nieces, Thelma Erdahl of Blue Earth, Minn., Norma Gronewald and her husband, Max, of Granada, Minn., and Gloria Gordon and her husband, Roger, of Richfield, Minn.; and by many dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, four brothers and two sisters.

NORA SPRINGS - Charles W. Rechtfertig, 74, of 415 East Congress, Nora Springs, died Wednesday (July 7, 1999) at Mercy Medical Center - North Iowa, Mason City.
There will be no services. His body was cremated according to his wishes.

HAZEL J. PRESCOTT
JOICE - Funeral services for Hazel Prescott will be 1:30 p.m. Friday at Winnebago Lutheran Church, rural Lake Mills, with Pastor Bill Peters officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Mittelstadt Funeral Home in Lake Mills and one hour before services at the church.
Hazel J. Prescott, daughter of Helmer and Nettie (Peterson) Fjone, was born May 6, 1919, in rural Lake Mills. She attended country school in rural Joice/Lake Mills.
She was united in marriage to Myron Prescott on Oct. 21, 1945, at Winnebago Lutheran Church, rural Lake Mills.
Hazel enjoyed researching family genealogy, gardening, cards, cooking, music, Northside Jolly Club and spending time with her family.
Hazel passed away Tuesday (July 6, 1999) at her home in rural Joice.
She is survived by her husband, Myron, of Joice; her son, Marvin Prescott and his wife, Donna, of Lake Mills; daughter, Jan Hill, of Lake Mills; son, Larry Prescott and his wife, Carol, of Ventura; daughter, Linda Henely and her husband, Kirk, of Lake Mills; one sister, Carmen Tiegen, of Lake Mills; sister-in-law, Mildred O'Donnell and her husband, Ed, of Mason City; 11 grandchildren, Laura, Donavin and Marci Prescott, Brad Hill and his wife, Brandie, Misty and Brian Sterrenberg, Jessica Kienitz, Clint and Michael Prescott, Blake and Casey Henely; one great-granddaughter, Marisa Hill; and several nieces and nephews.
Hazel was preceded in death by her parents, Helmer and Nettie Fjone; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, George and Alvina Prescott; and her brother, Harold Fjone.

CHARLES CITY - J. Wilbur Howell, 90, of 32 N. Grand, died Wednesday (July 7, 1999) at the 11th Street Chautauqua Guest Home, Charles City.
