Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. John's Catholic Church, Clarion, with the Rev. David Beckman officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery , Clarion.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 today at Willim Funeral Home, Clarion, and will resume after 9:30 a.m. Monday at the church.

NORTHWOOD - Alice Ida Olson, 85, of Mason City, formerly of Northwood, died Friday (Sept. 3, 1999) at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa in Mason City.

OSAGE - Opal B. Schupfer, 86, died Friday (Sept. 3, 1999) at the Riceville Community Rest Home.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Osage, with the Rev. Philip Recker officiating. Interment will be in the sacred Heart Cemetery , Osage.
Visitation will begin at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Champion Funeral Home, Osage, with a 3 p.m. rosary and a 7 p.m. scripture service.

ALGONA -Ella B. Love, 96, died Friday (Sept. 3, 1999) at Good Samaritan Center in Algona.
Funeral services will be held at 11 p.m. Tuesday at First Lutheran Church in Algona. Burial will take place at 3 p.m. in Central Freeborn Cemetery
in rural Albert Lea, Minn.
Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service at the church.

MASON CITY - Maria L. "Susie" Muniz, 82, of 407 First St. S.W., died Friday (Sept. 3, 1999) at Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 7, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Mason City, with the Rev. Carl Reis officiating. Interment will be at Elmwood-St. Joseph's Cemetery , Mason City.
Visitation will begin after 4 p.m. Monday at Fullerton Funeral Home, 123 Second St. S.E., Mason City.

HECTOR J. NEWMAN
MASON CITY - Hector J. Newman, 92, of 816 N. Connecticut Ave., died Friday (Sept. 3, 1999) at Good Shepherd Health Care Center, Mason City.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Hogan-Bremer Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E., Mason City, with the Rev. Randy Nielsen, pastor at Good Shepherd Health Care Center, officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood St. Joseph Cemetery , Mason City.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Hogan-Bremer Colonial Chapel and will continue for one hour prior to the service Tuesday.
Hector J. Newman was born Aug. 20, 1907, at Hill City, Minn., son of Robert and Jesse (Presley) Newman. At the age of 16, he moved to Mason City.
On May 4, 1929, he married Clara C. Gross at Albert Lea, Minn.
Hector was employed by Jacob E. Decker and Sons for 47 1/2 years until his retirement in 1972. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and woodworking. He also liked sports.
He is survived by his wife, Clara Newman, Mason City; three sons, Robert Newman, Atlanta, Ga., Ralph Newman, Mason City, and George Newman and his wife, Sharon, Mason City; one daughter, Mardel Conradson, New Hartford; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Bill Newman, Eddie Newman and Arnold Lavin; two sisters, Florence Butler and Virginia Middendorf; one great-grandson, Jeremiah Miller; and two sons-in-law, Robert Evanson and Howard Conradson.

MARCELLA J. PERCY
NORA SPRINGS - Marcella J. Percy, 73, of 806 First St. S.W., died Friday (Sept. 3, 1999) at Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Nora Springs Christian Church, with the Rev. Greg Lugn officiating. Inurnment will be in Park Cemetery , Nora Springs.
There will be no visitation. The body was cremated.
Marcella, the daughter of Pete and Minnie (Gast) Jeffries, was born Aug. 28, 1926, in Nora Springs. On Nov. 4, 1945, she was married to Allen Percy in
Minnesota. They lived in Nashua before moving to Nora Springs. She and her husband were self-employed for 35 years.
Marcella was a member of Royal Neighbors of America. She enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, friends, collecting dolls, her dog, Lady, and a good game of cards.
Marcella is survived by her husband, Allen Percy, Nora Springs; one son, Dennis Percy and his wife, Jackie, of Dalles, Ore.; a daughter, Corliss Mathers and her husband, Dennis, Nora Springs; her grandchildren, Tracy Lowe and her husband, Mick, Nora Springs, Todd Mathers and his wife, Teresa, Clear Lake, and Tana Mathers of Nora Springs; three great-grandchildren, Abby and Jade of Nora Springs, and Jacob of Clear Lake; two sisters, Zella Welch, Prairie Du Chein, Wis., and Una Meeker, Mason City; and one brother, Kirk Jeffries, Waterloo; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Harvey and Leslie Jeffries; and her sister, Opal Ladwig.

FREDERICK L. REYNOLDS
MASON CITY - Frederick L. Reynolds, 72, of 912 S. President, died Thursday (Sept. 2, 1999) at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Hampton Cemetery , Hampton. The body was cremated. There will be no visitation. Hogan Bremer Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E., Mason City, is in charge of arrangements.
Frederick L. Reynolds was born April 18, 1927, in Eldora, son of Harry and Marie Elizabeth (Butterwick) Reynolds. He married Velma R. Price on Nov. 19, 1949, in Albert Lea, Minn.
Fred grew up in Iowa Falls. He served in the Navy during World War II as a cook and baker. He worked as a painter for various contractors.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and especially spending time with his family and friends. He was a business agent for Local 246 International Brotherhood of Painters Allied Trade of Waterloo.
Survivors include his stepdaughter, Delores Metzger and her husband, Ray, of Manly; a step-grandson, Bill Kingston Jr., of Mason City; a step-great-grandchild, Maggie; his sister, Elizabeth A. Powlas, of Peru, Ill.; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Velma in 1990; one sister, Margaret Elizabeth Oliver; and an infant sister, Mabel.

STORY CITY - Joyce D. Olson, 81, formerly of Eagle Grove, died Saturday (Sept. 4, 1999) at Iowa Lutheran Hospital, Des Moines.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. today at Evangelical Lutheran Church, Eagle Grove. Burial will in Rose Hill Cemetery , Eagle Grove.

RICEVILLE - Hazel I. Kapka, 80, of Thompson, formerly of Riceville, died Saturday (Sept. 4, 1999) at North Iowa Hospice in Mason City.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Riceville, with the Rev. Matthew Versemann officiating. Burial will be in the Lutheran Cemetery , Riceville.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Conway Funeral Home, Riceville, and one hour prior to services at the church Tuesday.

ALGONA - Margaret N. Knudsen, 87, formerly of Blue Earth, Minn., died Saturday (Sept. 4, 1999) at Algona Manor Nursing Home.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Congregational United Church of Christ in Algona. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery , Wesley.
Visitation will be from 5:30 to 8 p.m. today at Garry-Roberts-Murphy-Schaaf Funeral Home, Algona, and will continue at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday until the time of service at the church.
