POSTVILLE, Iowa - Violet E. McNally, 83, of Monona, formerly of Postville, and the Gunder area, died Thursday morning, Aug. 8, 2002, at Veterans Memorial, Waukon, following a brief illness.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville, with burial in the Postville Cemetery.

MONTICELLO, Iowa - M. Marjorie O'Rourke, 77, of Monticello, died Sunday morning, July 27, 2003, at the Monticello Nursing and Rehab Center.
Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Monticello, where friends may call after 9:30 a.m. Monday. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

DARLINGTON, Wis. - John Mueller Jr., 71, of 210 Cinderella St., Horseshoe Bend, Ark., formerly of Darlington, died Friday, Aug. 1, 2003, at Veterans Hospital, Little Rock, Ark.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 25 at Veterans Park, Cuba City.

Ruth M. Robbins
LANCASTER, Wis. Ruth Marie (Wehnke) Robbins, 65, of Lancaster, died suddenly Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2003, at Grant Regional Health Center, Lancaster.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Lancaster Congregational Church, with the Rev. Mark Dieter officiating. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery , Lancaster. Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday, and after 10 a.m. Saturday, at the church. The Schwartz Funeral Home, Lancaster, is in charge of arrangements.
She was born on Dec. 20, 1937, at home at the Belmont Mound, daughter of Harvey and Jennie (Jackson) Wehnke. She was a 1955 graduate of Platteville High School.
Growing up, she enjoyed horses, walking uphill to school both ways and spending time with her girlfriends.
In 1955, she met her future husband and soul mate, Andrew Gale Robbins Sr. They were married on July 7, 1956, at the Congregational Church in Platteville. After spending time as a military wife, they settled in Lancaster. After staying home several years to raise her seven children and baby-sitting for several others, she started work at the Arrow Inn in downtown Lancaster for 10 years. In May 1991, they opened their own cafe in Cassville, called the Robbins' Nest, until November 1995, when she retired to her cross-stitching, crocheting, crafting and going to auctions.
She was a registered adult leader for the Boy Scouts of America, the Arrowhead District of the Blackhawk Area Council for more 35 years. For many years, she was on a women and couple's bowling league at Fireball Lanes.
Surviving are her beloved husband, Andrew Gale, of Lancaster; three sons, Jim (Ann) Robbins, of Beldonville, Gene (Rhonda) Robbins, of Footville, and Jeff (Mary) Robbins, of Lancaster; three daughters, Julie (Todd) Whyte and Lisa "Pete" (Chad) Abram, both of Prairie du Chien, and Amy Jo (Ron Meyer) Robbins, of Plover; her loving sister, Helen Cushman, of Livingston; and her mother-in-law, Avis Robbins, of West Liberty, Iowa. Ruth was a loving grandma to 14 grandchildren, Josh, Justin and Jason Robbins, Ashley, Taylor, Wesley and Shelby Robbins, Amanda (Chris Abing) and Amber Robbins, Seth, Mollee, Chris and Jon Whyte and Lydia "Liddybug" Abram.
She was preceded in death by a son, Andrew "Buckit" Robbins Jr.; her parents, Harvey and Jennie (Jackson) Wehnke; a granddaughter, Kallie Jean Robbins; and her father-in-law, Wilbur Robbins.
God bless you, Ruth, Mom and Grandma Icky. We love you and will deeply miss you.

STOCKTON, Ill. - William L. Arteman, 66, of Stockton, died Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2003, at the Freeport (Ill.) Memorial Hospital.

Alois C. Dotterweich
Alois C. Dotterweich, 80, of 750 Duggan Drive, died Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2003, at Mercy Medical Center- Dubuque.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery , Key West, Iowa, where military rites will be accorded by the American Legion, Dubuque Post 6. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Siegert-Didesch Colonial Funeral Home, 390 N. Grandview Ave., where there will be a wake service at 4 p.m.
He was born on Jan. 15, 1923, in St. Meinrad, Ind., son of Erhard and Mary (Meyer) Dotterweich. He married Sabina Finn on April 27, 1957, in Temple Hill; she died on April 28, 1973.
He served in the Army 101st Signal Battalion during World War II, first in the Infantry during the invasion of Okanawa, then as a Military Police Officer in Europe.
He moved to Iowa in the early 1950s to work on a farm. He worked as a journeyman carpenter for 30 years in Dubuque until his retirement. He also worked at the former Dubuque Packing Co.
He was a founding member of the Cascade Sportsman Society. He was a member of the American Legion, Dubuque Post 6, and St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church.
He was an avid sports fan, especially a fan of the Cleveland Browns and the Indiana Hoosiers.
Surviving are two sons, Tom (Lynn) Dotterweich, of Dubuque, and Tim (Lynn) Dotterweich, of East Dubuque, Ill.; five grandchildren, Hillary, Nick, Amy, Kelly and Brett; five great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Alivia, Chloe, Chryshaun and Juliyana; a brother, Andy (Carlyn) Dotterweich, of Monticello, Iowa; three sisters, Rose Swope, of Kuntztown, Pa., and Lena Dotterweich and Joan Graciano, both of Indianapolis; six sisters-in-law, Marie Finn, Eleanor "Lolly" Finn and Darlene Finn, all of Cascade, Iowa, Helen Dotterweich, of Otter Creek, Iowa, Amy Dotterweich, of Jasper, Ind., and Mabel Fothergill, of Des Moines; and two brothers-in-law, Barney Frasier, of Cascade, and Wilbur Klietch, of Monticello.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Erhard and Mary; five brothers, George, Pete, Bill, Mike and Ambrose; and a sister, Sara.
An Alois Dotterweich Memorial Fund has been established.
Cathy M. Kemp
Cathy M. Kemp, 44, of 3520 Pennsylvania Ave., formerly of 2923 Timberline, died at 1:10 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2003, at Mercy Medical Center- Dubuque.
Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Holy Ghost Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery . Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. today at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main St., where there will be the parish wake service at 4 p.m.
She was born on Oct. 1, 1958, in Dubuque, daughter of Richard A. and Mary Virginia (Weiland) Kemp.
Cathy was a 1977 graduate of Wahlert High School. She was a member of Holy Ghost Parish.
She enjoyed being with children and worked in a daycare center for a time. Cathy loved animals, especially her pets. She enjoyed sewing, needlework and reading.
Surviving are her mother, Mary Virginia Kemp, of Dubuque; a sister, Susan K. (Jeff) Brimeyer, of McHenry, Ill.; a brother, Terry J. (Trish) Kemp, of Dubuque; a niece; and four nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Richard A. Kemp, in 1980.
Memorials may be given to Tri-State Dialysis, 1500 Delhi St., Dubuque, Iowa 52001 and the Dubuque Humane Society, 175 N. Crescent Ridge, Dubuque, Iowa 52003.
The family wishes to sincerely thank Dr. Whalen and the nurses and staff of Tri-State Dialysis for the years of care and compassion they showed to Cathy.
Charles D. Hodgson
ARGYLE, Wis. - Charles Dale Hodgson, 78, of Argyle, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2003, at the Monroe (Wis.) Hospital Clinic.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Blanchardville (Wis.) United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Jon Claude Bartlett officiating. Burial will be in Dubuque Memorial Gardens, south of Dubuque, where military rites will be accorded. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the church. The Erickson Funeral Home, Argyle, is in charge of arrangements.
He was born on Aug. 24, 1924, in Scales Mound, Ill., son of George and Irene (Koehn) Hodgson.
He attended school in New Diggings. He worked in Freeport, Ill., before he was drafted into the Army, where he served in the 36th Division Company I 141st Infantry. He was a veteran of World War II, was a prisoner of war and was honorably discharged in October 1945. He earned many medals of honor during his years of service, including two Purple Hearts.
He married Virginia Boal on April 6, 1946, in Iowa City. They farmed in Epworth, Iowa, until 1972. They raised their five children on the farm. In 1972, they moved to a farm in the Blanchardville and Argyle areas until 1980, when he semi-retired and moved into the village of Argyle.
He also drove a school bus for the Western Dubuque County Community School District in Epworth for many years. He worked at the Equity Sale Barn in Monroe for 15 years, and in 1995, retired to enjoy time with his wife, traveling to see family and friends.
He was a member of the Blanchardville United Methodist Church and the Argyle American Legion Post 251 and Veterans of Foreign Wars, of Dodgeville.
Dale loved to help out on his sons' farms and always had time to go to his grandchildren's events. Dale's life became richer, not only to him, but for everyone who knew and loved him.
Surviving are his wife, Virginia, at home; his children, Carol (Mark) Hartbecke, of Wheatland, Iowa, Kenneth (Monica) Hodgson, of Argyle, Robert (Bev) Hodgson, of Dyersville, Iowa, David (Pam) Hodgson, of Plymouth, and Cinda (Don) Hittesdorf, of Hollandale; 15 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Ruth Hodgson, of Dubuque; a brother-in-law, Frederick Gerber, of Winslow, Ill.; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, George Oliver Hodgson; and three sisters, Doris Gerber and Arlene (Koehn) Hoff, and one in infancy.
A Charles D. Hodgson Memorial Fund has been established and will benefit the Blanchardville United Methodist Church and the Argyle Emergency Medical Service.
