J. Agnes Larson

CLINTON, Iowa -- J. Agnes Oak Larson, Clinton, died Friday, June 1, 2001, at Wyndcrest Nursing Home. A private family service will be 1 p.m. Monday at Pape Funeral Home. Burial will be in St. Irenaeus Calvary Cemetery . There will be no public visitation. Mrs. Larson was a homemaker and worked for Mercy Hospital, One-in-Hand Tie Factory and the Klines Department Store, Clinton. J. Agnes Longman was born Nov. 23, 1908, in Murdock, Minn. She married Henry Oak in 1933 in Clinton. He died in 1959. She later married Pete Larson in 1968 in Clinton. He died in 1973. Memorials may be made to Wyndcrest Nursing Home. Survivors include a daughter, Jean Koehn, Camanche; a son, James Oak, LeCenter, Minn.; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Margaret Galles, St. Peter, Minn.; and a brother, Richard Longman, Houston, Texas.

Pete Eriksen

MOSCOW, Iowa -- Services for Pete Eriksen, Moscow, will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Bentley Funeral Home, Wilton. Interment will be in Oakdale Cemetery , Wilton. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Mr. Eriksen died Friday, June 1, 2001, at his home in Moscow. He farmed in Cedar County, retiring in 1995. Pete Eriksen was born June 25, 1926, in Cedar County. He married Mae Kramer in 1950 in Bennett. Mr. Eriksen was an Army veteran of the Korean War. Memorials may be made to Trinity United Church of Christ. Survivors include his wife, Mae; his son, Gregory, Woodstock, Ill.; two grandchildren; and his sisters, Helen Lammers, Durant, Gladys Sohsen, Walcott, and Alice Cinkovich, Davenport.

Harry Hunter

VICTORIA, Ill. -- Services for Harry D. Hunter, Victoria, will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Victoria Cemetery . Rux Funeral Home, Galva, is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Hunter died Friday, June 1, 2001, at his home. He was quality control manager for Anchor Bolt, Chicago. He was born Dec. 20, 1944, in Edwhite, W.V. He married Gloria Heilener in 1966 in Chicago. Memorials may be made to the family. Survivors include his wife, Gloria; a daughter, Sheila Hunter, Victoria; his mother, Patricia Kinney, Kenova, W.V.; his father, James Hunter, Huntington, W.V.; and his sisters, Nancy Parks, Lecanto, Fla., and Shirley Baker, East Lynn, W.V.

Selma Edler

STANWOOD, Iowa -- Selma A. Edler, Stanwood, died Saturday, June 2, 2001, at University Hospitals, Iowa City, after a short illness. Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at First United Church of Christ, Tipton. Burial will be in Tipton Masonic Cemetery . Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Monday at Chapman Funeral Home, Clarence. Mrs. Edler was a dental assistant and telephone operator. She also helped her husband as secretary of his TV repair business in Tipton. Selma Alyea was born March 11, 1926 at Red Oak, rural Tipton. She married Fred Edler in 1946 in Tipton. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established. Survivors include her husband, Fred; her daughters, Virginia Rammelsberg, Cedar Rapids, Katherine Bails, Stanwood, and Faye Young, Tipton; her son, Jeffrey, Clarence; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a brother, Paul Alyea, Greenwood, Ind.

Shirley Terrill

NEW BOSTON, Ill. -- Shirley J. Terrill, New Boston, died Saturday, June 2, 2001, at Lynncrest Manor, Aledo. Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at United Methodist Church, New Boston. Burial will be in the New Boston Cemetery., Visitation is 5-7 p.m. Monday at Family Funeral Services, Aledo. Shirley Cooley was born May 16, 1937 in Muscatine, Iowa. She married Elmer "Shorty" Terrill in 1984 in New Boston. Memorials may be made to the family. Survivors include her husband, Elmer "Shorty"; step-daughters, Glenda McDonald, Muscatine, and Beverly Barnhouse, Viola; 18 step-grandchildren; 26 step-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Arthur Cooley, Dacono, Colo.

Marilyn Parks

DAVENPORT -- Celebration of Life memorial services for Marilyn J. Parks, Davenport, will be 10 a.m. Friday at Weerts Funeral Home, Davenport. No visitation will be held. Private family burial will be in Indianapolis Cemetery near What Cheer, Iowa. Marilyn passed away Monday, July 30, 2001, from cancer at Genesis Medical Center-West Campus, Davenport. She was born Oct. 21, 1936, in Oskaloosa, Iowa, to Paul J. and Evelyn Alice (Vail) Synhorst. She married James S. Parks on June 8, 1958, at Indianapolis Christian Church, Indianapolis, Iowa. Marilyn attended Indianapolis country schools and What Cheer High School, graduating as valedictorian of her class. She received a bachelor's degree in business and education from State College of Iowa (University of Northern Iowa), graduating with honors. She taught business classes for three years in Alden, Minn. Later she received a master's degree in special education from Marycrest College and taught special education at North Scott High School, Eldridge, Iowa. Marilyn was a member of Maya Winther, King's Daughters and St. Mark Evangelical Lutheran Church. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society or St. Mark Evangelical Lutheran Church. Survivors include her husband, Jim; a son and daughter-in-law, Marshall and Lynne Parks, Greeley, Colo.; a daughter and son-in-law, Rachael and Jay Hagedorn, Des Moines; grandchildren, Allison and Logan Parks and Justin and Joshua Hagedorn; a sister and brother-in-law, Loretta and Jerry Hudson; a sister-in-law, Sandra Davis; a brother and sister-in-law, Dr. David and Diane Synhorst; nieces, Coleen Fisher and Dr. Renee Hudson; and a nephew, Michael Synhorst. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Cecelia Baldwin

DAVENPORT -- Services for Cecelia M. Baldwin, Davenport, formerly of Fort Madison, Iowa, will be 10 a.m. Friday at Saints Mary and Joseph Catholic Church, Fort Madison. Burial will be in Soldiers Circle, Oakland Cemetery , Fort Madison. Visitation is 4-7 p.m. today at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport, with a rosary offered at 6:30 p.m. by Our Lady of Victory Legion of Mary. Visitation is after 2 p.m. Thursday at King-Lynk Funeral Home, Fort Madison. The family will meet with friends 6-8 p.m. Thursday evening. Mrs. Baldwin passed away Monday, July 30, 2001, at Genesis Medical Center-West Campus. Cecelia M. Miller was born Dec. 18, 1930, in Fort Madison, to Leo H. and Julia C. (Doran) Miller Sr. She married Melvin Baldwin Jr. on Sept. 8, 1951, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Fort Madison. He died in 1992. As a child, she attended St. Mary's Grade and Catholic Central High schools. She had been a registered X-ray technologist and Certified Medical Transcriptionist, having worked at Sacred Heart Hospital and Fort Madison Community Hospital until retiring in 1990. She was active in the American Medical Transcription Certification Program and was a member of the Great River Bend Medical Transcription Association. After retirement, she worked part time for Burlington Medical Center, Burlington, and also operated her own medical transcription service for several doctors in Fort Madison until moving to Davenport in June 1996. She was a member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church and Legion of Mary. She truly enjoyed music and spending time with her children and grandchildren. They were her pride and joy. Memorials may be made to Saints Mary and Joseph Catholic Church, Fort Madison; Aquinas School System, Fort Madison; or Holy Family Catholic School, Davenport. Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Gail Baldwin and Donald Schneider, Davenport, and Julie and Kevin Polancic, Ottawa, Ill.; sons and daughters-in-law, Eric M. and Lisa Baldwin, Davenport, Jay T. and Michelle Baldwin, West Point, Iowa, and Dan G. and Maureen Baldwin, Davenport; nine grandchildren; a brother, Leo H. Miller Jr., Kansas City, Kan.; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents; and brothers, John A. Miller, Norman E. Miller and Patrick T., who died in infancy.

Gary York

DAVENPORT -- Services for Gary R. York, a resident of Davenport, will be 1:30 p.m. Friday at Sacred Heart Cathedral, Davenport. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery , Davenport. Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Thursday at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport, with a prayer service offered at 7 p.m. Gary died July 28, 2001, after an automobile accident in Hannibal, Mo. Gary Richard York was born Jan. 31, 1975, in Iowa City, to Gary R. York and Margie A. Guyott. Survivors include his father, Gary R. York, Davenport; brothers, Michael York, and spouse, Christy, Hannibal, Gary Dean York, Tucson, Ariz., and Steven Rench, Hannibal; sisters, Sarah Strickland, Hannibal, Beth Westhoff, Memphis, Mo., Holly Strait, Mount Pleasant, Iowa, and Teresa Saldivar, Sally Saldivar, Shelly Saldivar and Sherry Weltof, all of Davenport; mothers, Sandi York, Vanessa Rench and Marge Atkins; a half brother, Cory Rejbeaell; nine uncles and 11 aunts; and several nieces and nephews. Gary loved writing poetry, painting and his dog, Shawn. He will be remembered for his big heart and his caring for others.

Clare McMahon

DAVENPORT -- Celebration of Life services for Clare W. McMahon, Davenport, will be 1 p.m. Friday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Davenport. Burial will be in Oakdale Memorial Gardens, Davenport. Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Thursday with a 6 p.m. prayer service at Weerts Funeral Home, Davenport. Mrs. McMahon died Monday, July 30, 2001, at Genesis Medical Center-East Campus, Davenport. She was a homemaker. She was born Aug. 24, 1919, in Davenport, to Harold and Cora (Taylor) Walker. She married Richard M. McMahon on April 3, 1943, in Washington, D.C. He died April 29, 1994. Mrs. McMahon was a 1938 graduate of Davenport High School and a 1942 graduate of the University of Iowa, where she was a member of Alpha Xi Delta sorority. She was a former chairman of United Fund and a member of Mercy Hospital Auxiliary, Bar Association Auxiliary, the Outing Club of Davenport, The Davenport Club and Davenport Country Club. Memorials may be made to St. Anthony's Care and Share or American Lung Association. Survivors include a daughters, Susan Berg, Naperville, Ill.; a daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Terry Huber, Alexandria, Va.; a son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Dana McMahon, Iowa City; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Lady Alexandria Maria Catherine.

Carole Krieger

MONTPELIER, Iowa -- Services for Carole Krieger, Montpelier, will be 11:30 a.m. Friday at Runge Mortuary Chapel. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Thursday at the mortuary. Carole passed away Monday, July 30, 2001, at her home, after a long battle with cancer. Carole was employed 32 years at Bammer Manufacturing. She retired in 1999. Carole Lodbell was born Nov. 5, 1938, in Montpelier, to Delbert J. and Ruth (Teitsch) Lobdell. Carole married Robert Lee Krieger on Sept. 5, 1964, in Rock Island. He died Dec. 27, 1995. Carole enjoyed traveling, gardening and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Carole was a very loving and dedicated mother and grandmother, who was devoted and committed to her family. She will be greatly missed and always loved by her daughters and grandchildren. Memorials may be made to Mount Sinai Christian Fellowship Church, Davenport. Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Cheryl and Michael Orton, Montpelier, and Kelli and Jason Perez, Denver; a grandson, Sean Robert Orton, Montpelier; granddaughters, Allissa and Shauna Clay, both of Davenport; brothers and sisters-in-law, Delbert Lobdell Jr., Muscatine County, Allen Lobdell, Montpelier, Darrell and Joyce Lobdell, Weslaco, Texas, and Duane and Beverly Lobdell, rural Blue Grass; a sister-in-law, Helen Riggins, Des Moines; and brothers-in-law and spouse, Bernard and Judy Krieger, Ottumwa, and Gordon Morse, Limestone, Tenn. She was preceded in death by her parents; stepmother, Mary Lobdell; and sister, Audrey Brink.
