Robert Collins

Robert Collins, 58, of Lomax, Ill., died at 3:15 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 4, 2004, at St. Mary's Hospital in Galesburg, Ill. Arrangements are pending at Banks and Beals Funeral Home in Dallas City, Ill.

Lori Benedict

Lori Ann Russell Benedict, 41, of Carthage, Ill., died at 6:15 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 5, 2004, at her parents' home in Carthage.

Born Nov. 6, 1963, in Carthage, Ill., she was the daughter of James and Irma Reidner Russell.

Ms. Benedict was a 1981 graduate of Carthage High School. She loved puzzles, music, movies, fishing, and spending time with her family, especially her nieces and nephews, and her dog.

Survivors include her parents; four sisters, Bonnie Larkins of Orion, Ill., Brenda Snyder of Carthage, Sandra Cummings of Nashua, N.H., and Vickie Hesseltine of Denver, Ill.; two brothers, James Russell Jr. of Mendon, Ill., and Ralph Russell of Carthage; 14 nieces and nephews; eight great–nieces and great–nephews; and many aunts and uncles.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, two nephews and one niece.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at Printy Funeral Home in Carthage.

The memorial service for Ms. Benedict will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorials have been established for Hancock County Hospice and the American Cancer Society.

OPAL KUNTZ

Funeral services for Mrs. Opal Kuntz, 90, of Burlington will be held in Prugh's Chapel this morning at 9:30 A.M. Rev. Dr. Frank Beaty will officiate. Interment will follow in Girdner Cemetery in Lineville, Missouri, at 3:00 P.M. A memorial has been established in memory of Mrs. Opal Kuntz.

KATHLEEN "KAYTEE" DAVIS

Memorial services for Mrs. Kathleen "Kaytee" Davis, 75, of Burlington will be held in Prugh's Chapel this afternoon at 1:00 P.M. Pastor Carl Engstrom will officiate. Interment will be held in Burlington Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in memory of Kaytee Davis. As per her wishes, the body has been cremated.

ARVID V. EGERT

Graveside Committal Services for Mr. Arvid V. Egert, 89, of Bur–lington who died on Monday, December 6, 2004, at Great River Medical Center will be held in the Rock Island National Cemetery on Friday, December 10, 2004, at 1:30 P.M. Rev. Tyrone Henderson will officiate. The family will receive friends in Prugh's Chapel this evening from 7:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. A memorial has been established for the Burlington Public Library. Friends may call after 8:00 A.M. today.

Vivian Dunn

Vivian Dunn, 88, of Keokuk, died at 12:07 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2003, at Keokuk Area Hospital. Arrangements are pending at Greaves Mortuary in Keokuk.

Florence Woodruff

Florence Adele Tweedy Woodruff, 77, of Keosauqua, died at 1 a.m. Tuesday, June 12, 2001, at Van Buren County Hospital in Keosauqua.

Born March 7, 1924, in Keokuk, she was the daughter of Hugh Earl and Lottie Ve Starr Tweedy. She married Eston N. Woodruff on April 4, 1943, in Argyle.
Mrs. Woodruff was a farm homemaker.

She was a member of Center Chapel United Methodist Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher. She served as a hospice volunteer and an area captain of TOPS in the 1980s. She sang with the Van Buren community choir, was an avid gardener and furnished flowers for church services and table decorations for various occasions.

Survivors include her husband; three sons, Kenneth of Independence, Mo., Bill of Ottumwa and Mark of Keosauqua; four daughters, Norma Mahon of Isabella, Mo., Nedra Carruthers of Blue Springs, Mo., Melody Keller of Enid, Okla., and Margie Brown of Stockport; 15 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother, David Tweedy of Keokuk; and four sisters, Marjorie Lind and Virginia Pezley, both of Argyle, Elizabeth Dresser of Keokuk and Ve Wardlow of Montrose.

She was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.

Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Friday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua, where the family will receive friends from 3 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 8 p.m.

The funeral for Mrs. Woodruff will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Keosauqua United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Ellis Andrews officiating. Burial will be in Center Chapel Cemetery , southeast of Keosauqua.

Memorials have been established for Center Chapel handicap annex building fund and Van Buren County Hospice. Contributions may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at 20010 Route J40, Keosauqua, IA 52565.

Robert Bennett

A remembrance for Robert Wayne Bennett, who died Dec. 30, 2000, in Maple Shade, N.J., will be at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, June 17, at the Montrose Presbyterian Church.

Born June 7, 1929, in Bonaparte, he was the son of Howard and Selma Yeager Bennett.
He was raised in Montrose, but had lived in Maple Shade, N.J. for a number of years.

Survivors include two brothers, Alan Bennett of Keokuk and Dennis Bennett of Whitehouse, Texas.

His wife, Darlene, and their children will accompany his ashes here for the remembrance service.

Vickie Butler

Vickie A. Butler, 47, of Keosauqua, died at 12:22 p.m. Monday, June 11, 2001, at Van Buren County Hospital in Keosauqua.

Born July 13, 1953, in Marshalltown, she was the daughter of Charles J. and Kathryn Beaty Butler.
Miss Butler was a graduate of Marshalltown High School, Marshalltown Community School of Nursing and the University of North Dakota at Grand Forks. She was a registered nurse and advanced registered nurse practitioner. She worked as a nurse at Chariton Hospital for two years and practiced for more than 10 years on a Navajo Indian reservation in Montezuma Creek, Utah. She moved to Keosauqua in 1994, and was the resident ARNP in the Birmingham and Douds clinics of Van Buren County Hospital.

She was a member of Keosauqua United Methodist Church, where she was a youth leader and representative to the Van Buren County Cooperative Youth Group, and a Cub Scout leader in Pack 99 in Keosauqua.

Survivors include one son, Matthew, at home; one daughter, Sarah, at home; her mother of Marshalltown; one sister, Nancy J. Butler of Des Moines; two brothers, Dan of Albion and Douglas of State Center; three nieces; and two nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father.

Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. today at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua, where the family will receive friends from 4 to 5 p.m. and from 7 to 8 p.m.

Visitation in Marshalltown will be from 11 a.m. to noon Friday.

The funeral for Miss Butler will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Keosauqua United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Ellis Andrews officiating.

A second service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Elim Lutheran Church in Marshalltown, with the Revs. Ellis Andrews and Karen Cluts officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Memorial Garden in Marshalltown.

A memorial has been established for her children's education or the charity of the donor's choice. Contributions may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at 211 Riverview Drive, Keosauqua, IA 52565.

Dolores Bell

Dolores "Dee" Ann Bell, 71, of New London, died Wednesday, July 11, 2001, in New London.

Born Sept. 24, 1929, in Mount Pleasant, she was the daughter of Bert and Cleo Belle McClure Harper. She married Donald J. Bell on Oct. 3, 1953, in Kansas City, Mo.
Mrs. Bell was a 1947 graduate of New London High School, a 1974 graduate of Iowa Wesleyan College and a 1980 graduate of Southeastern Community College. She worked as a teacher in New London and Mount Pleasant, as a registered nurse at Burlington Medical Center and worked for eight years at Mississippi Valley Blood Center before retiring.

She was a member of New London Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and Unity Circle. She was a former board member at Southeastern Community College and a member of Royal Neighbors, Garden Club, Bike Burlington, Dover Historical Society and United Methodist Sextet. She rode in RAGBRAI several times and enjoyed yard work, gardening, biking, reading, and her grandchildren. She loved singing in the choir, traveling, especially to Mexico, and, most of all, being with her family.

Survivors include her husband; two sons, James O. Bell of Santa Fe, N.M., and Stephen H. Bell of Kensington, Md.; one daughter, Tracy L. Bell of Burlington; one foster daughter, Dawn L. Hopson of Danville; one stepdaughter, Michele Byers of Cedartown, Ga.; 10 grandchildren; and one brother, Robert L. Harper of Tampa, Fla.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. today at Elliott Chapel in New London.

The funeral for Mrs. Bell will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Elliott Chapel, with Pastor Matt Miller officiating. Burial will be in Burge Cemetery in New London.

A memorial has been established for Crossroads Hospice of Southeast Iowa.

Margaret Druin

Margaret A. Druin, 84, of Green Apartments in Oquawka, Ill., died at 4:05 p.m. Sunday, July 8, 2001, at Eastview Terrace in Sullivan, Ill.

Born Oct. 18, 1916, in Kewanee, Ill., she was the daughter of John and Magdalene Merkavich Euchaski. She married Henry Lee Druin in August 1935 in Kewanee. He died Feb. 28, 1951.
Mrs. Druin was raised and educated in Kewanee and worked as a waitress and cook in several Kewanee restaurants. She worked for 20 years at Bracken's in Kewanee as a preparation cook, and at Walworth Manufacturing until it closed.

She loved to crochet and play cards.

Survivors include one son, Richard Druin of Oquawka; one grandson; two great-grandsons; and two sisters, Ann Van Wasenholve and Elizabeth Draminski, both of Kewanee.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one grandson, five sisters and two brothers.

No visitation hours are planned by her family.

The graveside service for Mrs. Druin will be at 1:30 p.m. today in Pleasant View Cemetery in Kewanee, with the Rev. Duane Jack officiating.

A memorial is being established and will be designated later.

Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, Ill., is in charge of arrangements.

Glenn Judy

Glenn Ray Judy, 83, of 2337 Harper Lane, Fort Madison, died at 8 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 11, 2001, at his home.

Born April 9, 1918, in Fort Madison, he was the son of George Washington and Florence Christina Schome Judy. He married Elizabeth Choumee on Feb. 2, 1935, in Keokuk. She died Feb. 15, 1999. Mr. Judy retired from Fruehauf with 14 years of service. He was of the Christian faith.
Survivors include two sons, Raymond Judy of Fort Madison and Larry Judy of Salem, Ore.; four grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, six half brothers and three half sisters.

Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Wednesday at King-Lynk Funeral Home in Fort Madison, where the family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

The funeral for Mr. Judy will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with his grandson, the Rev. Greg Judy, officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Fort Madison. A memorial has been established for the National Kidney Foundation. Contributions may be left at the funeral home.

Mary Thye

Mary Anne Thye, 73, of West Burlington, died at 10:10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2007, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

Born March 31, 1933, in Aledo, Ill., she was the daughter of Dale and Ruby Ashley Hyett. On April 4, 1954, she married Richard Thye in Burlington. He died Oct. 6, 1982.

Mrs. Thye was of the Methodist faith. She worked at various positions for Wal–mart.

Survivors include two daughters, Cathy Rappenecker of Springfield, Ill., and Diane Pinkert of Red Oak, Texas; five grandchildren; and four sisters, Eloise Robinson of Burlington, Jeanne Hyett of Mountain View, Calif., June Boldt of Moline, Ill., and Patti Hastings of Redwood City, Calif.

Her husband and parents preceded her in death.

Friends may call from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. Friday in Lunning Chapel. Family will be present from 6 until 8 p.m.

Funeral services for Mrs. Thye will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Lunning Chapel with the Rev. Jim Ruberg officiating. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.

Memorials have been established for Children's Miracle Network Foundation or Ovilla Christian School Scholarship Fund in Red Oak, Texas.

Salvador Artiaga

Salvador C. "Sal" Artiaga, 88, of Monmouth, Ill., died at 9:40 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2005, at Community Medical Center in Monmouth.

Born Aug. 3, 1916, in Zacatecas, Mexico, he was the son of Trinidad and Marcelina Cobarubias Artiaga. On April 21, 1942, he married Juana Ibarra in Fresnillo, Mexico.

Mr. Artiaga worked for 29 years for the Burlington Northern Railroad as a laborer in Galesburg, Ill.

He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Monmouth and the Brotherhood of Railroad Workers. He loved gardening, taking daily walks, playing cards and billiards.

Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Julia Cokel and Maria Scudder, both of Monmouth, Alicia Ward of Holiday, Fla., and Martha Arteaga of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; one son, Trinidad Arteaga of Monmouth; nine grandchildren; two great–grandchildren; and two sisters, Soledad Rosales and Victorina Rosales, both of Mexico.

A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. today at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Monmouth, with the Rev. Michael Monclova officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery in Monmouth.

A memorial has been established for the American Diabetes Association.
