Forrest M. Turner, Jr., 63, passed away, Friday, December 5, 2003 at his home in Vay, Idaho.
Memorial Services will be held at 12:00 pm Noon Thursday December 11, 2003 at Forrest’s home at 762 Chip-N-Dale Road near Vay. Military services will be performed by Marine Corp League Detachment 1110.
Forrest was born on October 29, 1940 to Katheryn and Forrest Turner, Sr. in Durant, Oklahoma. He grew up and attended schools in Long Beach, California graduating from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1958.
Forrest entered the United States Marine Corp on August 4, 1958. He was awarded the Sharp Shooter Badge and Good Conduct Medal. Forrest was honorably discharged on August 3, 1962.
He married Barbara Christian on January 20, 1962 in El Cajon, CA. Forrest worked as a Maintenance Engineer for Kelco Seaweed Processing in San Diego, CA. He retired in 1999 and moved to Vay where he built a home.
He was a firearms enthusiast, loved guns, reloading and shooting. He also enjoyed restoring cars and racing cars.
He is survived by his daughhter Christine Turner; son Steve (Karen) Turner; one grandson Allen Turner; ex-wife Barbara Turner; sister-in-law Brenda Turner, all of El Cajon, California. He is also survived by many special friends including Jack Kittinger of Long Beach, California; Lou (Nella) Hiatt of Vay; Renee Kinloch of Coeur d' Alene; Jerry (Audrey) Dufrense of Rathdrum; Don (Stephanie) Leggett of Newman Lake, Washington; Dave Sawley of Spirit Lake; and Rita Duggan of Coeur d' Alene.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Jack Turner, and step mother Pauline Turner.

Ronald Jerome Skipper, 63, passed away, Sunday, November 23, 2003 in Sandpoint, Idaho. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, December 8, 2003 at Hill Funeral Home in Grand Blanc, Michigan. Interment will take place at Crestwood Memorial Cemetery.
Ronald was born on November 14, 1940 in Reeves, Missouri to Wanda and Carl Skipper. He served his country in the United States military. Ronald’s career took him from Michigan where he worked as a miner to California where he worked as a hairdresser. In 1997 he moved to Sandpoint, Idaho from Lake Tahoe, Nevada to be closer to his daughter and grandchildren.
Ronald was a wonderful father and doting grandfather. He spent many hours helping people in need. He enjoyed sketching, painting, and volunteering at the Bonner Gospel Mission.
He is survived by his mother, Wanda David of Tuscon, AZ; two sons Steven (Gerry) Skipper of Felton, CA and Zachary (Lisa Marie) Skipper of Salem, OR; daugheter Julie (Rod) Dawson of Sandpoint; 5 grandchildren Timothy and Kimberly Buxton, Sierra, Christina, and Nicole Skipper; one sister Peggy Harris of Tuscon, AZ; one half sister Audrey Skipper of Port Au Prine, Philippines; and one cousin Doris Hargrave of Grand Blanc, MI.
He was preceded in death by his father Carl Sherman Skipper and 1 brother Bobby Wayne Skipper.

Judy Ann Isaacs, 48, passed away, Sunday, November 23, 2003 at her home in Westmond, Idaho. After a short illness she was escorted “home” by a league of guardian angels.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon, Wednesday, November 26, 2003 at the Westmond LDS Church with Bishop Glen Bailey conducting. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services in the Relief Society Room.
Judy was born in Pascagoula, Mississippi on December 6, 1954 to Robert and Reva McLendon. She grew up and attended schools in Mississippi, California, and Washington. She graduated from Bremerton High School in 1972.
Judy worked as a cosmetologist after completing cosmetology school in Bremerton. She worked at Coldwater Creek in accounting, and at Cost Cutters at Wal-Mart.
In 1992, Judy moved to Sandpoint. She married Mark Isaacs on October 18, 1995 in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. She enjoyed being a mother, sewing, gardening, and quiet evenings with Mark watching movies.
She is survived by her husband Mark, two sons Johnothon and Christopher Hall of Westmond; step daughters Julie and Stephanie Isaacs of Spokane; mother and step father Reva (Clyde) Heath of Vallejo, CA; sisters Rita (Bill) Ross of Elko, NV; Denise McLendon Vallejo, CA; Jennifer Heath of Vallejo, CA; Christine Scott of Kingsland, GA; brothers Roger Heath of Vallejo, CA; Dwayne Heath Vallejo, CA; Dan (Janie) Heath of Vallejo, CA; and Derek (Anjilla) Heath Vallejo, CA as well as many other nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father Robert E. McLendon.

Harold Ivan Tibbs
Just before the sun rose to cast its light over a glistening blanket of newly fallen snow, longtime Sandpoint resident, rancher and father, Harold Tibbs, died Friday, Nov. 21, 2003, at Sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane. Tibbs, who had suffered a heart attack and subsequent complications, spent his last day resting comfortably with the warmth of his loving family and his specially crafted cowboy quilt.
Harold will be remembered at a memorial service on Tuesday, Nov. 25 at 10 a.m. at Lakeview Funeral Home, 301 S. Olive in Sandpoint with Rev. Dr. Nancy Copeland-Payton of First Presbyterian Church officiating. A reception will follow at the St. Joseph ’s Catholic Church Hall. Private family burial will be held at Pack River Cemetery.
This lifelong horse/animal lover and consummate story teller was born April 12, 1916, in Sheridan, Mont., to William and Iva Tibbs. His parents, both teachers, eventually moved the family to Bonners Ferry, Idaho, where Harold’s equine interest began. During the summers, he rode horses belonging to Kootenai Indian Tribe interpreter/elder Simon Francis. These experiences sealed his great respect for the Native American culture. After graduating from Bonners Ferry High School in 1934, Harold fulfilled his dream of becoming a cowboy by riding 40,000 acres of cattle range while employed at the Millard Easter Ranch in Montana ’s Madison Valley.
He also worked in the woods around Bonners Ferry and as a truck driver for Big Lakes Logging Co. in Northern California. A horse logging accident near Bonners Ferry resulted in Harold spending the rest of his life limping from the pain of a broken leg that did not heal properly. He also contributed to the war cause as a civilian at Farragut where he delivered tools. He often told of being the last civilian at the World War II naval training station and having to check himself out of the facility. For 33 years, he worked for the City of Sandpoint as its water filter operator, frequently enhancing his knowledge with water treatment short courses at the University of Idaho.
As a person who loved the land, Harold seldom left his ranches on North Boyer and alongside HWY 95 just north of the “two halves of beef” at Colburn. Nonetheless, he’s known worldwide in Appaloosa horse circles because of the time he took his stallion Toby I to the first-ever National Appaloosa Show in 1948 at Lewiston and came home with a passel of trophies, including the performance championship. His name and story appear in several books, including the Farnam book about Appaloosas, Idaho Rodeo by Coeur d’Alene author Louise Shadduck and the recently released coffee table book Spotted Pride where he and Toby are featured in the first chapter.
For several decades, Harold raised registered Herefords and worked hard, through the Bonner County Cattlemen’s Assoc., helping organize annual bull sales at the local livestock auction company. He also helped with the early rodeos in the Sandpoint area when they were held on Great Northern Road and later on Baldy Road. He was an active member of the Sandpoint Saddle Club and the Bonner County Horsemen’s Assoc.
An outdoorsman and marksman who enjoyed rebuilding rifles and constructing black powder weapons, Harold bagged his share of wildlife, including elk, deer and antelope. He also loved to fish. From these experiences came many a story to swap with family and with his special group of friends on Saturday mornings at the Pend Oreille Sport Shop. Harold was a practical genius who could construct or fix just about anything, whether it was a fence or an old tractor. He gave of himself quietly for his neighbors and once received recognition from the Eagles Lodge with its annual humanitarian award.
Most of all, he was proud of his family, having taken on the responsibilities of three small children with his marriage to Virginia in 1954. The couple later “added to the litter with Batch 2,” but all six children considered him their dad. His influence and many guiding principles helped direct each child to a successful life.
Survivors include Virginia, his wife of 49 years at the Tibbs Arabian Ranch in Colburn, three sons Mike Brown (Mary) of DuPont, Wash., Kevin Brown (Joyce) of Frenchtown, Mont., and James Tibbs of Grants Pass, Ore. Three daughters, Marianne Love (Bill) of Sandpoint, Barbara Tibbs and Laurie Tibbs of Sandpoint also survive.
His five grandchildren include Maureen Peterson (Sean) of Tacoma, Wash., Scott Brown (J.J.) of Anchorage, Alaska, Laura Laumatia (Sefo) of Pago Pago, Samoa, William Love III (Deborah) of Boise, ID, and Annie Love of Boise/New Zealand. Five great-grandchildren also survive. They include Tanner and Rory Peterson of Tacoma and Grace, Justine and Jacob Laumatia of Pago Pago, Samoa.
Harold leaves two surviving sisters, Virginia Snodgrass of Apache Junction, Ariz., and Minnie Mae Tibbs of Carmichael, Calif. A brother Douglas and sister Wilma Tibbs Johnson preceded him in death.
Because of his love for animals and willingness to take in just about any stray cat, dog or horse, memorials in Harold’s name may be sent to the Bonner County Humane Society.
The family encourages funeral attendees to wear casual or Western dress.

Dustin Duane Weinand, 57, passed away on Saturday, November 8, 2003 in Sandpoint, Idaho. Memorial services will be held at a later date.
Dustin was born on January 27, 1946 in Sandpoint to Esther and Frank Weinand. He spent his youth in Montana, Wyoming, and Sandpoint. His father taught him, at a young age, how to drive logging truck in the woods. From that experience grew a love for long haul truck driving, which he did for years all over the United States and Canada.
Dustin met Lynnette Lockwood in the summer of 1982, that October he and Nette were married. They recently celebrated 21 years of marriage. They were blessed with one son, James, who Dustin loved with his whole being.
Dustin spent his free time doing activities that he loved; camping, regardless of the summer storms that came up on the lake, fishing, woodworking, and mechanicing.
Dustin leaves behind his wife of 21 years Nette, their eleven year old son Jimmy, 5 siblings Jim, Colleen, Ann, Nyla, Mike, and their families. Dustin is also survived by Lynnette’s family, Judy, Fred, Tina, Tawnya, T.G., and their families. Also, his ever faithful dog, Schwartz.
Dustin was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Esther, and his brother Don.

Shirley Jean Work, 62, Clark Fork
Shirley Jean Work, 62, passed away peacefully at her home in Clark Fork, Idaho, Wednesday November 5, 2003. Private family services have been held. Memorial donations may be made in Shirley’s name to Community Cancer Services, PO Box 2213, Sandpoint, Idaho 83864.
Shirley was born on May 10, 1941 in St. Louis, Missouri to Don and Stella Durment. She grew up and attended grade schools in St. Louis, and graduated high school in Cahokia, Illinois.
After her schooling, Shirley went to work for Monsanto. In 1970 she moved to Monterey, California, where she met and married Hugh Work in 1971. The couple made their home in California, while Shirley enjoyed a career as a paralegal and legal secretary.
In 1998 Shirley retired and the following year she and Hugh moved to Clark Fork. She enjoyed playing her keyboard, gardening, and was an animal lover.
She is survived by her husband Hugh Work of Clark Fork; three sisters Elaine Holmes, Linda Best and Debbie Luke all of California; daughter Denise (Raymond) Zagorski of Clark Fork; two step daughters Cambi Tharp and Misty Snow, both of Glendale, AZ; and four grandchildren Sara Zagorski of Clark Fork, ID; and Michael, Andrea and Brandon Snow of Glendale, AZ.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and 1 sister Marsha Lewis.

Emmett Lloyd Stump, 68, Sandpoint
Emmett Lloyd Stump, 68, passed away, Tuesday, November 4, 2003 in Sandpoint, Idaho. Memorial services will be held at the residence of Richard Stump, 183 Fern Lane, Cocolalla, Idaho at Noon on Saturday, November 15, 2003.
Emmett was born on April 9, 1935 to Lloyd and Katherine Stump in Los Angeles, California. He grew up and attended Baldwin Park and Covina schools in California. Emmett enlisted in the United States Navy on August 21, 1952 in Los Angeles. He served his country during the Korean Conflict, receiving the United Nations Medal, Korean Service Medal, and National Defense Medal. He was Honorably Discharged from the Navy Reserves on August 20, 1960.
After his discharge from the military, Emmett first went to work as a sheet metal worker. He later worked as a baggage handler for the airlines in California. He also worked as a graphic artist for a period of time. In 1990, Emmett retired and moved to Cocolalla, Idaho to be closer to his brother. They enjoyed spending time together fishing and watching movies.
Emmett is survived by his mother Katherine (Peter) Mills of Roseburg, OR; brother Richard Stump Cocolalla, ID; sister Bonnie Hobday of Roseburg, OR; two nephews Brad Anderson of Hawaii and Scott Anderson of Los Angles, CA; one niece Lori Anderson of Los Angles, CA and one great nephew Marlin Anderson of Hawaii as well as his Aunt Evelyn in Los Angles.
He was preceded in death by his father Lloyd Stump.
