MILDRED ROSENBERGER OLSON

Benton - Mildred Rosenberger Olson, 80, of 730 West Division St. died at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 5, 2000 at her home.

Memorial graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 12, 2000 at the Masonic & Odd Fellows Cemetery. Hobbs-Johnson Funeral Home, Benton, is in charge of arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, American Diabetes Association, American Heart Association, or the American Kidney Fund, and will be accepted at the funeral home.

WANDA LEE SCHLEICHER LITTLEPAGE

JOHNSTON CITY - Wanda Lee Schleicher Littlepage, 74, died at 11:05 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2000 in the Herrin Hospital.

Services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the Murman & Wilson Funeral Home, Johnston City, with the Rev. Larry Stevens officiating. Burial will be the Masonic & Odd Fellows Cemetery in Benton. Friends may call after 6 p.m. today to the funeral home.

Mrs. Littlepage was born on Jan. 12, 1926, in Benton, the daughter of Everett and Nona (Malone) Rea.

She first married Peter Schleicher, who died in 1957. She later married Roy Littlepage in 1975. He survives.

She was a secretary at Freeman United Coal Co. in West Frankfort for 23 years. She retired in Feb. 1985. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

Survivors include six daughters, Gloria and husband LeRoy Nolle of Auburn; Sherry and husband Shaun Dalrymple of Boulder, Col, Marsha and husband Danny Stewart, Janice and husband Allen Crawford, all of Benton, daughter Jeanne and husband David Grant, Galatia, Peggy and husband Lloyd Hogg of Herod; mother-in-law, Verna Littlepage of Galatia; one brother, Melvin Fitzgerald and wife Verna of Christopher, a sister, Lois Russell of Clarksville, Ind.; special friends John Ponsetti and Debbie Mitchell; brother-in-law, Charles Littlepage of Johnston City; several nieces and nephews. Also surviving are grandchildren, Steve and Stephanie Bergin, Peter Dalrymple, Eric and Tracey Stewart, Chris and wife Amy Crawford, Valerie and Kelsey Crawford, Ryan Grant, Curtis and Gina McClusky, Jim and wife Catricia Gill, Mandy Hogg; three great-grandchildren, Ashley Christina Cairel, Dylan Joseph Stewart and Payton Marie Bergin; sons-in-law, Dave Grant, Lloyd Hogg, Allen Crawford, Danny Stewart, Shaun Dalrymple, LeRoy Nolle.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Luther and William Rea, two sisters, Laverne Falcomata and Ruby Reynolds; great-granddaughter, Jessica Alicia Stewart, first husband, Pete Schleicher and good friend, Bernice Ponsetti.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois or to First Baptist Church, Johnston City.

LELA SIMS BOYLES

Macedonia - Lela (Sims) Boyles, 99, died at 12:07 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 10, 2000 at McLeansboro Health Center.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 12, 2000, at Harre Funeral Home, McLeansboro, with the Revs. Robert Sefried and Gene Auxier officiating. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday to the funeral home.

Mrs. Boyles was born on April 12, 1901, in Macedonia, the daughter of John and Minnie (Johnson) Sims. She married Elbert Boyles on Jan. 17, 1920 and he preceded her in death on June 28, 1991.

She spent most of her years on the farm just north of Macedonia, and was a member of the Corinth Methodist Church, Macedonia.

Survivors include one daughter, Earlene Fisher and husband Bill Fisher, Macedonia; one granddaughter, Brenda Ferguson and husband Jeff Ferguson, Marion; two great-granddaughters,Terri Ryan and husband Jerry Ryan, Energy, and Tami Moore and husband, Jeramy Moore, Orlando, Fla.; three great-great-granddaughters Micha Rotz, Energy, Brittany Moore, Orlando, Fla. and Cassie Moore, Orlando, Fla.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, five brothers and two sisters.

GAIL E. NEAL

Ewing - Gail E. Neal, 88, died Thursday morning April 3, 2003, at the Casey Care Center in Mt. Vernon.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 5, at the Johnston Funeral Home in Whittington, with the Rev. Alfred Haile officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery, near Ewing. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Mr. Neal was born in Frisco on May 14, 1914, the son of Sebern and Ethel (Ward) Neal.

He married the former Evelyn Glenn and she survives.

Gail was a farmer for many years, and in later years he worked for Hopkins Ford Tractor in Mt. Vernon for 10 years.

He was very active in Field Trials and was named Field Trialer of the Year in 1985. He was in the Hall of Fame in the Egyptian Shooting Dog Championship, and was named Dog Wagon Driver Extraordinaire.

He attended the United Brethren Church.

Survivors include his wife Evelyn Neal of Ewing; six sisters, Loretta Odom and husband James of Benton, Ethel Pearl Hargis of Nashville, Tenn., Mildred Koerner of Warsaw, Ind., Fay Klosowski and husband Norbet of Milwaukee, Wisc., Mae Sneed of Ewing, Helen Heimer and husband Rusty of Whittington; sister-in-law, Lova Neal of Mt. Vernon; several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Neal was preceded in death by his parents and by three brothers, Ralph, Carl and Jim.

REV. CLARENCE O. TAYLOR

De Soto, Missouri - The Rev. Clarence O. Taylor, 89, died Monday, Aug. 7, 2000, in De Soto.

Services will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. in the Mahn Chapel, De Soto, with the Revs. Lavey and Rayls officiating. Visitation is today from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery, Sesser.

Rev. Taylor was born on June 21, 1911, in Sesser, the son of Eligah A. and Nellie (Boyd) Taylor.

He was married to Geneverett L. (Dorrough) Taylor on May 6, 1931, in Sesser. She survives.

He was the clergy for the De Soto Church of God and many others, and had retired as a welder for the Mo. Pacific Railroad. He was a member of the International Gospel Assembly.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, David Lee and wife Karen Taylor of Cedar Hill, Mo.; two daughters, Marcella and husband Roy Welshon, Jean Ann and husband Jesse Hoyt, both of De Soto; one sister, Clara Hargrove, Cahokia; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Marvin Fred Taylor; one sister, Ruby Curry, four brothers, Richard, Alvie, Arlie, and Noah Taylor.

WANDA REA SCHLEICHER LITTLEPAGE

Johnston City - Wanda Rea Schleicher Littlepage, formerly of Benton, died at 11 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2000.

Arrangements are pending at the Murman-Wilson Funeral Home, Johnston City.

FLORA E. PATCHETT

Christopher - Flora E. Patchett, 94, of Christopher, died at 11:20 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 5, 2002, at Herrin Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 8, at Gilbert Funeral Home in Christopher, with Brother Dennis Jones and the Rev. David McConnell officiating. Burial will be in Harrison Cemetery in Buckner. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.

Mrs. Patchett was born June 6, 1908, in Carbon Hill, Ala., the daughter of David and Alice Hill Pruett. She married Frank Scalet who preceded her in death on March 9, 1967. She married Edmund Patchett who preceded her in death on Dec. 18, 1979.

She was a member of the First Christian Church in Christopher.

Mrs. Patchett was a member of the Benton chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, the VFW Ladies Auxiliary in Sesser and the Christopher Senior Citizens.

She is survived by three sons, Richard and Theris Scalet, Mattoon, Terry and Mary Ennis Patchett, Mulkeytown, and Marty and Saundra Patchett, Sesser; 12 grandchildren, Michael and Brenda Beavers, Mattoon, Jackie Sharp, Lerna, Ill., Wayne Scalet, Bethany, Ill., Ron Scalet, Carbondale, Frank and Linda Scalet, Warsaw, Ind., Matt and Julie Patchett, Mulkeytown, Mike and Mary Ann Patchett, Christopher, Beth and Terry Russell, Mulkeytown, Jeff Patchett, Oblong, Lindy Patchett, Valier, Tracy and Kent Dailey, O'Fallon, Mo., and Brad and Abbie Miller; 15 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; several very special nieces and nephews and numerous friends.

CHARLES RAY BOOTS

Benton - Charles Ray Boots, 55, of Benton, died at 4 a.m., Friday, Dec. 6, 2002 at Herrin Hospital.

Charles was born June 5, 1947 in Mulkeytown to Herman and Bessie (Boner) Boots, Jr.

He is survived by a sister, Twana Jacobs of Herrin; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Steve and Barbara Boots of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Rodney and Jenny Boots of Benton and several nieces and nephews.

His parents and a brother, Phillip Boots preceded him in death.

Funeral services for Mr. Boots will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, Dec. 9, at Vantrease Funeral Home in Zeigler with the Rev. Terry Griffith of the West Monroe Street Apostolic Church in Herrin, officiating. Burial will be at Zeigler Cemetery. Visiting hours are after 9 a.m., Monday at the funeral home until the hour of the services.

LOUIS BERTONI

Buckner - Louis Bertoni, 90, a former resident of Buckner, died Thursday morning, Jan. 30, 2003, at the Herrin Hospital.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 5, at the Masonic & Odd Fellows Cemetery in Benton, with the Rev. Dale Carson officiating. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday to the Morton & Johnston Funeral Home in Benton.

Mr. Bertoni was born in Rend City on Aug. 8, 1912, the son of Attilo and Irerne (Antonelli) Bertoni.

He married Elsie (Monari) Bertoni, and she preceded him in death on Nov. 14, 1975.

He is survived by several nieces and nephews.

GARY STRICKLAND

Benton - Gary Strickland, 45, died Feb. 2, 2003, at his home in Benton.

Arrangements are pending at the Poulson Funeral Home, Benton.

DEBRA PAULINE REIGER

Benton - Debra Pauline Reiger, 73, died at 5:45 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 2, 2003.

Arrangements are pending at Morton & Johnston Funeral Home in Benton.

MAURICE D. REED

Matteson, Ill. - Maurice D. Reed, 76, formerly of Thompsonville, longtime resident of Markham, died at 5:25 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, 2003 at his home in Matteson.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, at the Hobbs-Johnson Funeral Home, Benton with Rev. Tim Gossett officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Etna Cemetery, Akin. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 7, 2003 at the funeral home.

Mr. Reed was born Jan. 6, 1927 in West Frankfort, the son of Elmer and Hessie (Bolen) Reed. He married the former Dorothy Parkhill on June 2, 1950 and she survives.

Mr. Reed was an Army veteran of the Korean War and a member of the Sesser V.F.W. He graduated from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale in 1956. He then moved with his family north to pursue his 36 year career as the office manager and purchasing agent for the Clark Oil Refinery in Blue Island.

He was a member of the Midlothian Methodist Church and a former member of the Mt. Etna Methodist Church, Akin.

He is survived by his wife Dorothy Reed, Matteson, three children, Allen (Kathryn), Park Forest, Sherry (Arnie), New Lenox, David (Peggy), Midlothian, eight grandchildren, Kate, Sarah, Nicole, Ayn, Allyson, Jan-Michael, Brian (Angela), and Kevin, two great-grandchildren, Alyssa and Kailee, three brothers, Harold (Jean) Reed, Benton, Thomas (Janet) Reed, Victorville, Calif., Donald (Karin) Reed, Sesser, three sisters, Margie (David) Bayless, Benton, Beth (Ron) Hillard, Camarillo, Calif., Edith (Lindell) Smothers, La Vergne, Tenn., and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Reed was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Kenneth Reed.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Mt. Etna Methodist Church and will be accepted at the funeral home.

ETTA IVA GENE ARNOLD

Walls, Miss. - Etta Iva Gene Arnold, 89, died Feb. 1, 2003, in Walls, Miss.

Born April 20, 1913, in Macedonia, she was the daughter of Alva and Verla Johnson Campbell. She married Johnnie Arnold Nov. 21, 1932. He preceded her in death May 15, 1960.

To this union were born three daughters, Geraldine Rook, Lois Jean Rainey and Deloris June Arnold. All preceded her in death. One sister, Nadine Kearney, and one brother, Hobert Campbell, also preceded her in death.

Survivors are two sons-in-law, Wilford Rainey and Bill Rook; 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and one sister, Geneva Nagreski of Benton.

A funeral service was scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 4, at the Memphis (Tenn.) Funeral Home.
