TAMAROA – Frank E. Hilt, 54, of Tamaroa, passed away12:20 p.m. Saturday, December 1, 2012 at the Helia Healthcare of Carbondale.
Frank was born on May 9, 1958, at Louisville, KY, to Charles Allen and Betty Lou (Weaver) Hilt.
He worked as a clerk at a liquor store.
Survivors include a sister, Nova Clarry of DuQuoin, IL; and two brothers and sisters-in-law, Darren (Linda) Hilt of Tamaroa, IL and Duane (Renetta) Hilt of DuQuoin, IL; and several nieces and nephews,
As per his wishes, there won’t be any services.
T. Bruce Shingleton
May. 27, 1950 - Nov. 30, 2012
T. Bruce Shingleton, 62, of Makanda, passed away 6:50 p.m., Friday, November 30, 2012, in Saint Clair County, Il.
Bruce was born May 27, 1950 in Alto Pass, to Earnest and Janet (Bryant) Shingleton.
He married
Tina Williams on June 28, 1981 in Makanda. She survives and is of Makanda.
Other survivors include one daughter and son-in-law Tracy and Steve Thomson of Makanda.
Other survivors include three grandchildren, Karsten, Keegan and Kholie; one brother, Ray of Hurst; three sisters, Sharon (Bob) Dorris of Carbondale, Tresea Shingleton and Paula Ellis both of DeSoto, and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Lloyd and James Shingleton; and two sisters, Patty Dickerson and Vickie Cole.
Bruce was a member of Makanda Masonic Lodge, Carbondale Eagles, and the DuQuoin American Legion. He worked for Unity Point School for over 22 years and was currently the maintenance supervisor. Bruce was also serving as the road maintenance supervisor for the Village of Makanda. He served his country in the U.S. Army. When Bruce was not working, he was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at Meredith Funeral Home in Carbondale, with Rev. Cliff Waller officiating. Visitation will be Monday December 3, 2012 from 5 until 8 p.m. with Masonic Rites at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Interment will be at Alto Pass cemetery in Alto Pass with military services.
Memorial donations are the preferred form of remembrance and may be made to Haven House in St. Louis, Missouri or the Masonic Children’s Home Murphysboro and will be accepted at the funeral home or to the Bruce Shingleton Scholarship Fund at the Unity Point School and will be accepted either at the funeral home or at the school.
Marjorie Martin

CARBONDALE – Marjorie Martin, 95, of Carbondale passed away at 6:55 a.m. on Sunday, November 25, 2012 at her residence.
Services will be held Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Lakeland Baptist Church in Carbondale, with Pastor Phil Nelson officiating. Burial will be at Pleasant Grove Memorial Park in Murphysboro. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service on Wednesday.
Memorials are the preferred form of remembrance and may be made out to Lakeland Baptist Church Building Fund and will be accepted by Meredith Funeral Home in Carbondale.
Marjorie was born January 18, 1917 to Herman W and Esta E (Lawrence) Kelley in Goreville.
She married
Paul Martin on June 23, 1945 in Carbondale. He preceded her in death on October 21, 1995.
Survivors include one step-son, Bob Martin of Clinton, MO; one daughter, Betty Ruth (Bill) Runion of Carbondale; granddaughter, Kelley Neal of Springfield and 10 other grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; one brother, Don (Georgia) Kelley of Carbondale; one sister, June (Larry) Messick of Herrington, Delaware; several nieces and nephews including Bill Sykes.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Paula Lynn Franklin, one grandson, Paul Bryan Franklin, three sisters, Jean, Carmen and Ivo.
Marjorie was a member of Lakeland Baptist Church and was a Charter Member, where she had been a very active member for many years. She was a homemaker, and lived in Jackson county most of her life.
Lillian Long

Lillian Long, 82, of Murphysboro, passed away at 8:50 a.m., on Thursday, November 15, 2012 at her residence.
Lillian was born May 12, 1930 to Zygumnd J and Anna Marie (Matusek) Jaworski in Wheeling, West Virginia.
She married
William L Long on July 28, 1951 in Wheeling, West Virginia. He preceded her in death on February 13, 1995.
Survivors include two sons, Bill (Kathy) Long of St Charles, Missouri, and Don (Sandy) Long of Carbondale; two daughters, Debbie (Ron) Harper of Murphysboro, and Terrie (Earl) Hatfield of DeSoto; three sisters, Janie Linn of Wheeling, West Virginia, Evelyn Jenkins of New Hampshire, and Aggie Stanwick of Mingo Junction, Ohio; fourteen grandchildren, Joey, Missy, Scott, RJ, Becky, Bobby, Chris, Michelle, Christy, Matthew, Anna, Wesley, Jennifer, Jessie; two great grandchildren, Allie and Alex.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brother, Chuck Jaworski.
Lillian was a member of St Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Carbondale. She was a housewife for 58 years. She loved her family and will be greatly missed by all.
A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at St Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Carbondale, with Father Robert Flannery officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at Meredith Funeral Home in Carbondale with a Vigil Prayer service at 7:45 p.m. and Wednesday, November 21, 2012 from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Interment will be at St Andrews cemetery in Murphysboro.
Memorial donations may be made out to the Alzheimer’s Association and will be accepted at the funeral home.
Sharon R Pohl

CARBONDALE – Sharon R. Pohl, 74, passed away at 8:06 a.m. on Sunday, November 11, 2012 in the emergency room at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.
Sharon was born Mary Sharon Reisinger on November 30, 1937 to Willard Eugene and Mary Eleanor (Wheatoff) Reisinger in Rockwood.
She married
Robert 'Bob' Pohl August 30, 1958 in Chester. They just celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary this past August.
Sharon is survived by her husband, Bob Pohl; one son, John (Kami) Pohl of Plymouth, MN.; two daughters Karen (Dave) Borger of Garland, TX., and Lisa York of Mesquite, TX.; one sister, Judy DeAtley of Champaign; seven grandchildren, Kristy (Johanne) Paguio, and Amy Borger of Richardson, TX., Michael (Tiffany) York, Stephen York, and Matthew York all of Mesquite, TX., Shannon Borger of Garland, TX., and Kara Pohl of Plymouth, MN.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
Sharon graduated from Southern Illinois University with a teaching degree. She held an administrative assistant and teaching position at Carbondale Community High School. She also volunteered at Parrish Elementary school.
She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Carbondale. She was a beloved and gentle wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed her family, reading, piano, cooking and sewing. Her faith, her unselfish and devoted love, and her laughter and sense of humor brought happiness to everyone around her. We miss her so much, but in faith we know she is with Christ Jesus and in that same faith in Him, we will all be together again.
A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, November 16, 2012 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Carbondale, with Father Gary Gummersheimer officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, November 15, 2012 at Meredith Funeral Home in Carbondale with a Vigil Prayer service at 5:00 p.m. Interment will be at Oakland cemetery in Carbondale.

Robert D. Leigeber

Robert ‘Bob’ D. Leigeber, 88, of Carbondale passed away at 4:45 a.m., Thursday, November 8, 2012, at the Carbondale Rehab and Nursing Center. Carbondale, Illinois.
Funeral service will be Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at 3:00 p.m., at Meredith Funeral Home, Carbondale with Reverend Janice West officiating. Entombment will be in the Murdale Gardens of Memory Mausoleum, Murphysboro. Friends may call from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, November 12, 2012 at the funeral home.

Bob was born March 20, 1924 at Indianapolis, Indiana to Arthur J. and Clara (Kelly) Leigeber. He married
Eleanor Crosby on June 13, 1948 at New Buffalo, Michigan. She passed away on May 30, 2010.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, wife and one sister Loretta.
Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Donald L. Leigeber of Carbondale and John C. (Jay) and Elizabeth (Gale) Leigeber of Harleysville, PA.; his younger sister, Evelyn Burkhart of Lawrence, KS; three nephews, David, Daniel, and Douglas May.
He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Carbondale, and served his country in the Navy during WW II aboard the USS Indianapolis.
Bob received his Bachelor’s Degree in mechanical engineering from Purdue University, W. Lafayette, Indiana. He worked in industry but flourished as an entrepreneur as owner of Crosby’s Blueberry Farm in Indiana and then as owner of Crab Orchard Manufactured Home Community after moving to Carbondale.
Bob loved traveling with his wife Eleanor. They danced in square and round dance groups. Bob also enjoyed wood carving and many investment interests.
Robert William Lembcke

Carbondale – Robert William 'Bob' Lembcke, 86, passed away on October 18, 2012 at his home.
Bob was born September 24, 1926 in Dolton, to Albert Richard and Leona (Albrecht) Lembcke.
He married
Lois May Cheeseman on August 13, 1955 and she survives.
Other survivors include a daughter, Laura Lee Lembcke Strausberger and her husband Donald James Strausberger of Roswell, Georgia; a granddaughter, Kelly Nicole Strausberger; a grandson, Andrew Nolan Strausberger; and one brother William Lembcke of Arizona; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, James Charles and Raymond A. Lembcke, and one sister Marion Lembcke Wisinski.
Bob went to work on the Illinois Central Railroad as a Fireman and worked his way up to a Traveling Engineer in Carbondale. He worked there for 42 years until his retirement. He loved his work on the railroad and using large equipment.
He was drafted into the Army. He completed basic training at Fort Benning, Georgia and served in WWII as a Paratrooper stationed in Japan and then the Philippines.
Bob loved airplanes and spent his spare time building and flying them. He was very active in the (EAA) Experimental Aircraft Association, and made the pilgrimage to Osh Kosh, Wisconsin for the EAA National Convention many times with his wife Lois. He also served with the local EAA Chapter in Carbondale.
He was a member of Station Carbondale which started the Museum located in the Old Carbondale Depot. Bob was responsible for the search and procurement of both the engine and caboose which are housed on the tracks nearby the museum. He also donated many railroad items to the museum. He enjoyed speaking to schoolchildren as they took field trips to tour the museum, engine and caboose.
Bob was a long time active member of the Unitarian Fellowship of Carbondale and helped to oversee the building of the new church located at 105 N Parrish Lane. He served as Treasurer for many years, was on the Building committee and numerous other committees for the church. When something needed to be fixed they called him first! After retiring, he became a member of the Learning and Retirement group and enjoyed their variety of speaker programs. Bob enjoyed woodworking, yard work, gardening and canning. Also a lover of nature, he enjoyed wildlife, sunsets, watching and feeding birds.
He worked on cars, airplanes and anything mechanical. He could fix anything and enjoyed fixing things.
Bob never met a stranger. Bob’s friendliness, storytelling and sense of humor were evident to all who met him.
He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sunday, November 4, 2012 at 1:30 p.m. at the Unitarian Fellowship of Carbondale.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Unitarian Fellowship of Carbondale or TIP Hospice of Southern Illinois.
Jeffrey Ray Davis

Cobden – Jeffrey Ray Davis, 40, of Cobden, formerly of Huntingdon, TN, passed away at 10:52 p.m. on Saturday, October 20, 2012 at Saint Louis University Hospital in Saint Louis, MO.
Jeffrey was born October 17, 1972 in Clarksburg, WV to Johnny Ray and Patsy Ruth (Morgan) Davis. His mother precedes him in death.
He married
Lisa Ann Lynn on October 2, 2008 in Huntingdon, TN.
Jeffrey is survived by his wife, Lisa Davis; son, Tristan Davis; three daughters, Lydia Davis, Alissa and Abbigail Spencer all of Cobden; his father, John Davis, and brother, Joe Davis both of Weirsdale, FL; a sister, Jennifer Carey of Davison, MI; many aunts and uncles, including Mary Brookshear of Huntingdon, TN, who was like a surrogate mother to him after his mother’s death.
He was preceded in death by his mother, and step-son, Brandon Snyder.
He served in the U.S. Army in Desert Storm and was a member of the Elks Lodge #2152 in Huntingdon, TN. He was a manager at Chili’s Restaurant in Carbondale.
Jeffrey was an avid NY Giants fan and enjoyed working out at the Fitness Forum in Anna.
Funeral services will be Thursday, October 25, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. Meredith Funeral Home in Carbondale, with Reverend James Brooks officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 25, 2012, at the funeral home.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 27, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at Carroll Memorial Gardens in McKenzie, TN. There will be a gathering time after the service at First Pentecostal Church in Huntingdon, TN.
Memorials may be made out to a Trust fund for Tristan and Lydia and will be accepted at the funeral home.
