Sylvia M. Benjamin of South Elgin
Private funeral services for Sylvia M. Benjamin, 90, were held Monday at Laird Funeral Home, Elgin. The Rev. Dominic Cassidy officiated.
Born April 3, 1908, in Chicago, to James and Frances (nee Mach) Kolin, she died Wednesday, Dec. 30, 1998, at her home. Burial will be private, in Bluff City Cemetery.
Mrs. Benjamin had been a resident of South Elgin for 45 years.
Survivors include her daughter, Judith Ann (Ralph) Genoff of Golden, Colo.; son, Martin (Judith) Benjamin of South Elgin; grandchildren, Carla (Kim) Schieldknecht, David (Charlotte) Kleinschmidt, James Kleinschmidt, Michael Benjamin, Mark (Kim) Benjamin and Matthew (Paula) Benjamin; and five great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Helen Kolin and Oma Benjamin.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ernest Benjamin, in 1989; sisters, Agnes Babka and Frances Vyzral; and brothers, Edward and George Kolin.

Ann W. Blair of Countryside Lake, Mundelein
Private family services for Ann W. Blair, 78, will be held Wednesday, at Burnett-Dane Funeral Home, Libertyville. A public memorial service will be held at a later date at First Presbyterian Church in Libertyville.
Born March 20, 1920, in Decatur, Ill., she died Saturday, Jan. 2, 1999, at the University of Chicago Hospital. Interment will be in Ivanhoe Cemetery, just west of Mundelein.
A 1938 graduate of Decatur High School, she attended the University of Illinois. She was a former resident of Glenview and Wilmette and had lived in Mundelein for the past seven years. Ann was a past president of the Women's Auxiliary of Association House in Chicago, former member and Ordained Deacon at the Deerfield Presbyterian Church and a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Libertyville.
Surviving are her husband, Hugh T. Blair; children, Dr. Tom (Joan) Blair of The Woodlands, Texas, William Blair of Vernon Hills and John (Debbie) Blair of Mundelein; grandchildren, Tad, Dayna (Charles), Jared, Megan, Lindsey and Jay; and sister, Harriet (William) Allen of Austin, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Margaret Wayland.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Gastrointestinal Research Foundation, would be appreciated in her memory.

Maria Bustos of Elgin Services for Maria Bustos, 67, will be held at 11 a. m. Thursday, at O'Connor & Homeier Funeral Home, 364 Division St., Elgin. The Rev. Miguel Barrientos will officiate.
Born Oct. 7, 1931, in Mexico, to Ricardo and Victoria Bringas, she died Saturday, Jan. 2, 1999, at Sherman Hospital, Elgin. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
Ms. Bustos was a member of Bethany Baptist Church of Elgin.
Survivors include her daughter, Amada Gonzalez of Elgin; grandchildren, Juana Gonzalez of Elgin, Julio Gonzalez of Elgin, Christopher Lopez of Elgin and Eurydice Lopez of Elgin; great-grandchild, Leilane Gonzalez; and sisters, Imelda Baltazar of Elgin and Matiana Bustos of Elgin.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p. m. Wednesday, at the funeral home.

Josephine Delisi of Niles
A funeral Mass for Josephine Delisi (nee Scimeca), 87, will be celebrated at 10 a. m. Friday, at Our Lady of Ransom Church.
Born Oct. 2, 1911, in Chicago, she died Sunday, Jan. 3, 1999. Burial will be in All Saints Cemetery, Des Plaines.
She was the beloved wife for 52 years of the late Salvatore Delisi; loving mother of Richard (Sandy) Delisi, Anthony Robert (Maryanne) Delisi, Maryann (Jim) Steppke and the late Connie (Gordon) Hjelm; cherished grandmother of 12; and great-grandmother of 16.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Victor (the late Josephine), Sam (the late Ang) and Frank (Mary) Scimeca.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p. m. Thursday, at Skaja Terrace Funeral Home, 7812 N. Milwaukee Ave., Niles.

Ronald J. Florek of Schaumburg
Services for Ronald J. Florek, 52, will be held at 11 a. m. Thursday, at Ahlgrim and Sons Funeral Home, 330 W. Golf Rd., Schaumburg.
Born Dec. 24, 1946, in Chicago, he died Saturday, Jan. 2, 1999, at Hoffman Estates Medical Center. Burial will be private.
Employed by Lucent Technologies as a communication technician for 29 years, he was a veteran of the Navy and a member of the I. B. E. W.
He was the loving father of Ryan and David Florek; dear son of Dorothy Florek Weir and the late Stanley Florek; and brother of Jean (Howard) Pokrywka.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p. m. Wednesday, at the funeral home.

Peter S. Gagliardo of Streamwood

Born Sept. 8, 1947, in Chicago, he died Saturday, Jan. 2, 1999, at Hoffman Estates Medical Center. Burial will be in St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery, Palatine.
A resident of Streamwood for 22 years, Mr. Gagliardo was employed as the assistant meat market manager for Jewel Food Stores.
Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Stephanie Gagliardo (nee Stefaniw); children, Dina (Michael) Gaudaen of Algonquin and Steven Gagliardo of Streamwood; grandson, Christopher; mother, Mayme Gagliardo (nee Anzalone); and siblings, Frank (Penny) Gagliardo and Joanne (Bob) Brown.
He was preceded in death by his father, Peter Gagliardo.

Fred Gedenk of Streamwood
Services for Fred Gedenk, 89, will be held at 10 a. m. Thursday, at Ahlgrim & Sons Funeral Home, 485 S. Bartlett Road, Streamwood.
Born Feb. 24, 1909, in Germany, he died Monday, Jan. 4, 1999, at Hoffman Estates Medical Center. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery, Arlington Heights.
Prior to his retirement in 1971, Mr. Gedenk had been employed as a stationary engineer for 40 years, 31 of which were spent at the Parklane Hotel in Chicago.
He was the beloved husband of the late Bessie Gedenk (nee McGlone); loving father of Donald (Denise) Gedenk of Oak Park, Joyce (Michael) Perek of Hanover Park and Richard (Mona) Gedenk of Hanover Park; cherished grandfather of nine; and great-grandfather of 10. He was also the loving uncle of Ursula Parczyk.
Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p. m. Wednesday, at the funeral home.

Nancy Lee Gibbons of Grayslake
Funeral services for Nancy Lee Gibbons, 51, will be held at 10 a. m. Thursday, at Strang Funeral Chapel and Crematorium, Ltd., 410 E. Belvidere Rd., Grayslake. Rev. Lisle J. Kauffman of Calvary Presbyterian Church of Round Lake will officiate.
Born May 1, 1947, in Chicago, she passed away Monday, Jan. 4, 1999, at home. Inurnment will be privately held.
A resident of Grayslake for the past seven years, shewas formerly of Lake Villa. She was Employed with the Lakeland Newspaper for more than six years, as a classified sales executive.
She leaves her husband, Richard E. Gibbons, whom she married on Oct. 12, 1996, in Grayslake; children, Melody Murrell of Gurnee, Michael (Christina) Murrell of Carbondale, Mark (Lisa) Murrell of Grayslake, Mathew Murrell of Carbondale, Lottie Marie German of Long Beach, Miss. and Charles Gibbons of Lake County, Ill.; grandchildren, Ashley McMillen and Anastasia McGill; father, Howard Gitzke of Roselle; mother-in-law, Loretta Gibbons of Dallas, Texas; sister, Sandy (Ken) Cooper of Bloomingdale; brother, Steven Gitzke of Florida; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Ruth (nee Hellett); and fatherin-law, Thomas F. Gibbons.

Ann N. Groah of Mount Prospect

Born March 15, 1910, in Hanover, Ill., shedied Sunday, Jan. 3, 1999, at Holy Family Health Care Center in Des Plaines. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Skokie.
A 20-year owner and proprietor of The Bird House (Pet Shop) in the Sauganash area, she was the wife of the late Arthur Groah; mother of Phyllis (Said) El-Dinary; grandmother of Ashruf (Pam) El-Dinary and Ayman El-Dinary; and great-grandmother of Aaron El-Dinary.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p. m. today, at the funeral home.

Earl Wilbur Guptail formerly of Elgin
Services for Earl Wilbur Guptail, 85, of San Mateo, Calif., will be held at noon Thursday, at Wait Ross Allanson Funeral Chapel, Elgin.
Born July 12, 1913, in South Elgin, he died Monday, Dec. 28, 1998, in San Mateo. Burial will be in Lakewood Cemetery, Bartlett.
Employed by Roto Color in St. Charles for more than 20 years and the Elgin Courier, he was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Elgin.
He was the husband of Priscilla; father of Donald, Robert and David Guptail, Judith Warns, Carol Ann Guptail and Priscilla (Ronald) Addy; grandfather of Eric, Kevin, Lisa, Robert and Michelle; great-grandfather of Chelcey; son of the late William and Minnie Guptail; and brother of the late Harold and Ellsworth Guptail.
Visitation will befrom 10 a. m. until the time of services Thursday, at the funeral home.
