LINCOLN -- Peter C. Andrews, 83, of Lincoln passed away 6:25 a.m. Friday (March 28, 2003) in Lincoln Christian Village, Lincoln, of natural causes.
Mass of Christian Celebration will be 9:30 a.m. Tuesday in Holy Family Catholic Church, Lincoln, with Monsignor E. Edward Higgins officiating. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Monday in Kerrigan-Peasley Funeral Home, Lincoln. A rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Lincoln, with military rites. Memorials: American Legion Building Fund or for Masses for deceased family members.
Mr. Andrews was born Aug. 20, 1919, in Porrovitsa-Akrata, Greece, the son of Costa and Katherine Rufogales Androutsopoulos. He and his wife owned and operated the GEM Restaurant for 39 years in Lincoln. He served in the
Army during World War II. He served as mayor of Lincoln from 1984 until 1988. He as a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Lincoln Council 1250, Lincoln Elks Lodge 914, Lincoln AMVETS 71, Lincoln Railer Booster Club, Forty et Eight and was active in the Lincoln baseball program. He was also a member of American Legion Post 263 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1756 in Lincoln. He married Josephine Danosky on Oct. 12, 1946, in Lincoln.
Surviving are his wife; sons, George (Sandra) Andrews of Peoria; Michael (Kathy) Andrews of Springfield; John (Debbie) Andrews of Lincoln; daughter, Kathy (Earl) Kirshner of Chicago; grandchildren, Theresa C. Andrews, Gregory A. Andrews, Aaron M. Andrews, Anthony M. Andrews, John Thomas Andrews and Julian Kirshner; brothers, the Rev. John Androutsopoulos of Pittsburgh, Pa.; Panos Androutsopoulos of Porrovitsa-Akrata; sisters, Athanasia Pampouki and Eleni Nikolopoulou, both of Porrovitsa-Akrata.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Tom Andrews and Spiro Androutsopoulos.
Mr. Andrews was surrounded by his family at the time of his passing.

ARCOLA -- Mary Louise Gibson, 69, of Arcola passed away 2:20 p.m. Friday (March 28, 2003) in Arcola Health Care Center.

Mary was born March 17, 1934, in East St. Louis, the daughter of John Bazzell and Minnie Vercellono Benson. She was a member of First Baptist Church. She was also a member of Eagles in Mattoon and a past president of the VFW Auxiliary in Arcola. She was a 1950 graduate of Thornton High School in Harvey. She retired from motel management after several years. She had worked at the Hen House, Dutch Kitchen and Nights Out and was a caregiver for several people around Arcola. She enjoyed playing bingo and spending time with her friends and family. She married Wayne Gibson on Oct. 3, 1956 in Chicago. He preceded her in death Oct. 24, 2000.
Surviving are her sons, Richard Housley and wife Sheryl of Arcola; Bruce Gibson and friend Cindy Elder and Randy N. Gibson and wife Barbara, all of Tuscola; daughter, Brenda Nall and husband Sam of Arcola; grandchildren, Stacie Housley, Michael Housley, Melinda Gibson, Michelle Darr, Bryson Gibson, Crystal Davis and Mike Davis; great-grandchild, Chase Darr; brother, John O. Benson and wife Kay of Grand Junction, Colo.; sisters, Margaret H. Lister and husband Robert of Lockport; Barbara A. Coonce and husband Jack of Lomita, Calif.; Jean Shelton and P.J. of LaJolla, Calif.; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Max and Nona Lytle, Pat and Annie Monahan, Bob and Myrna Moore and the Rev. Jess and Barb Adams.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
