Taylor
DECATUR -- Dave Taylor Sr., 71, of Decatur departed this life 3 p.m. Saturday (March 29, 2003) in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Services will be noon Thursday in Main Street Church of the Living God with the Rev. Cleveland Bradfield officiating. Visitation will be one hour before services in the church. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Walker Funeral Service and Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Dave was born Oct. 27, 1931, in Decatur, the son of Howell Taylor Sr. and Bertha M. Taylor. He was a veteran of the
Army, serving in the
Korean War. He worked 38 years for Wagner Castings Co. He was a member of VFW Post 730. He married Thelma Grayned on Sept. 27, 1952. To this union, three children were born.
Dave leaves to mourn his passing and to cherish memories, his loving wife; mother; son, Dave Taylor Jr.; daughter, Elleen; brother, Jerry (Ollie) Taylor of Decatur; sisters, Lucille Spence and Dorothy Brassfield, both of Decatur; Charlotte (Calvin) Teague of St. Louis, Mo.; five grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his son, Baby Boy Taylor; father; and brothers, Walter Taylor and Howell Taylor Jr.
His four-year-old grandson, Jayden, so lovingly said, "We're going to see Paw Paw again someday."

SULLIVAN -- Jean Kenton, 72, of Sullivan died 11:15 a.m. Monday (March 31, 2003) in St. Mary's Hospital.
Graveside memorial services will be 2 p.m. Friday in Greenhill Cemetery
with Pastor Leonard Moore officiating. There will be no visitation. Reed Funeral Home, Sullivan, is in charge of arrangements. Memorials: Sullivan Ambulance Service.
Jean was born Sept. 12, 1930, in Sullivan, the daughter of Turner L. and Gladys Thompson Burnett. She had been activity and social services director for Douglas Nursing Center in Mattoon, an activity, social services and special projects director of Sullivan Health Care Center in Sullivan and a member of Jonathan Creek Church, Sullivan. She married Arthur S. "Sam" Kenton on Dec. 5, 1948, in Charleston. He preceded her in death Aug. 21, 2000.
Surviving are her son, Jack L. Kenton of Sullivan; daughter, Nancy R. Kenton of Dalton City; four granddaughters.
She was preceded in death by her husband.

LOVINGTON -- Ruth E. Davis, 94, of Lovington died 5:20 a.m. Monday (March 31, 2003) in her home.

Mrs. Davis was born July 12, 1908, in LaPlace, the daughter of George W. and Emma Wagner Cripe. She was an elementary school teacher for 26 years in Moultrie and Piatt counties and was a member of LaPlace Church of the Brethren. She married Everett Davis on May 1, 1937, in Moultrie County. He preceded her in death Sept. 6, 1979.
Surviving are her daughter, Mary Jo Phelps and husband Harold of Lovington; son, Rick Davis and wife Louise of Elizabethtown, Ky.; grandchildren, Tim Phelps and wife Terry of North Aurora; Troy Phelps and wife Leada of Nashville, Tenn.; Tisha Davis Royal and husband Darren, Tami Davis and Todd Davis, all of Louisville, Ky.; four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and brother, Don Cripe of Lake City.

ATWOOD -- Donna Charlene Rodmaker, 87, of Atwood died 10:40 p.m. Monday (March 31, 2003) in the Arthur Home.
Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday in Hilligoss-Shrader Funeral Home, Atwood, with the Rev. Don Gerkin officiating. Visitation will be one hour before services. Burial will be in Tuscola Cemetery. Memorials: Atwood Christian Church or Arthur Home Activity Fund.
Mrs. Rodmaker was born April 12, 1915, in Tuscola, the daughter of Charles and Lizzie Weatherford Pippen. She was a homemaker and former nurse's aide for Jarman Memorial Hospital, Tuscola. She was a member of Atwood Christian Church. She married Lee Rodmaker on Dec. 3, 1936, in Tuscola. Mr. and Mrs. Rodmaker had a greenhouse for nearly 30 years at their home in Atwood. He preceded her in death Nov. 15, 1983.
Surviving are her sons, Carl Russell Rodmaker and wife Judy of Beecher City; Marvin Rodmaker of Olney; Larry Rodmaker and wife Judy of Decatur; daughter, Bonnie Helton of Atwood; stepdaughter, Beverly Reed of King City, Ore.; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; brother, Gene Pippen and wife Doris of Avon, Ind.; sister, Ruth Foster of Champaign.
She was preceded in death by one grandson, one brother and two sisters.
