Dr. Everett E. Jeter
MARION -- Dr. Everett E. Jeter, age 85, of Marion, passed away at 11:27 a. m., Monday, Dec. 31, 2001, at his home.
Dr. Jeter was born, January 21, 1916, in Marion, the son of Cullen and Minnie (Smothers) Jeter.
Dr. Jeter was a life-long resident of Marion and a practicing Doctor of Optometry for many years, retiring in 1996. He was of the Baptist faith and in earlier years attended Warder Street Baptist Church in Marion.
He was a member of the Marion Elks Lodge No. 800 B.P.O.E., Veterans of Foreign Wars Heyde-Pillow Post No. 1301 and for many years was a member of the Kiwanis Club of Marion.
He was interested in politics and in the 1968 primary election was a candidate for the office of Williamson County Coroner. He was elected to several terms on the Marion City Council and served for over twenty years.
Dr. Jeter served in the United States Air Force and for many years and was a Lieutenant Colonel with the Williamson County Civil Air Patrol. He enjoyed flying and held a private pilots license for many years.
He always enjoyed the company of his family and friends and in recent years especially enjoyed Sunday evening meals with his great-great nephew, Casey Haynes.
Dr. Jeter is survived by his half brother, Bill Jeter and wife, Carol, of Mount Vernon; two nieces, Doris Langan and husband, John, of Marion, and Jeanette Murphy and husband, Don, of Redford, Mich.; two nephews, Harold Jeter and Ralph Jeter; great niece, Rebecca Parks and husband, Monty, of Marion, and great-great nephew, Casey Haynes of Marion.
His parents; infant sister, Mary Evelyn Jeter and two brothers, Leon Jeter and Cletis Jeter, preceded him in death.
The funeral service for Dr. Everett E. Jeter will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 3, 2002, in Wilson-McReynolds Funeral Home of Marion, with Rev. David Brinkman officiating. Interment will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery of Marion. military graveside rites will be conducted by Veterans of Foreign Wars Heyde-Pillow Post No. 1301 of Marion. The visitation for family and friends will be held between the hours of 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. today, Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2002, at the funeral home.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of memorial donations to The Gideons International and mailed c/o Wilson-McReynolds Funeral Home P. O. Box 370 Marion, IL 62959. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Floyd E. Pogue
STEELEVILLE -- Floyd E. Pogue, 77, died at 1:09 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2002, in Memorial Hospital in Chester.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Wilson's Funeral Home in Steeleville, with the Rev. Pete Ruble officiating. Burial will be in Masonic Cemetery in Piedmont, Mo. Visitation will be from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross.
Mr. Pogue was retired from Gilster-Mary Lee.
He was a Protestant.
He was born Aug. 21, 1924, in Springfield, Mo., to Alfred E. and Dulcie Rea (Brewster) Pogue.
He married Lucy S. Grigery on June 5, 1947, in Pocahontas, Ark. She died Jan. 20, 2000.
Survivors include two sons, Thomas F. Pogue of Cadiz, Ky., and William A. Pogue of Kenton, Ohio; two daughters, Bobbie J. Adams of Steeleville and Sharon P. Miller of Hillsboro, Mo.; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Paul Pogue of Cuba, Mo., and Norman R. Pogue of Texas.
His parents, three brothers and two sisters also preceded him in death.

Pansie Spurlock
MOUNT VERNON -- Pansie M. Spurlock, 76, died at 6:44 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2002, in Good Samaritan Regional Health Center.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Smith Veterans Cemetery, with the Revs. John Capps and Gale Hefner officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Hughey Funeral Home.

Charles E. Hughey
MOUNT VERNON -- Charles E. Hughey, 60, died at 11:44 p.m. Monday, Dec. 31, 2001, in Good Samaritan Regional Health Center.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Hughey Funeral Home, with J. Howard Krapps, the Rev. Everett Lemay and Father Robert Harmon officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be after 4 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Hughey owned Hughey Funeral Home and Hughey Farms.
He was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church. He served in the Army National Guard, was Egyptian Funeral Directors Association past president, 1971, chamber of commerce board member and member of the Illinois Funeral Directors Association and Red Angus Association of America.
He was born July 9, 1941, in Bonnie to Omer and Edna R. (Wallace) Hughey
He married Susan R. Knapp on Oct. 19, 1963, in Marion. She survives.
Other survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Carmen and Chris Deichman, Marsha and John Locke and Monica and Rick Akes, all of Mount Vernon; three grandsons, Reid Tyler Deichman, Lane Tyler Deichman and Hayden Jonathan Locke, all of Mount Vernon; his mother, of Bonnie; his mother-in-law, Blanche Knapp of Mount Vernon; one sister-in-law, Yvonne Hughey of Bonnie; three nieces, Ruth Ann Williams and husband, Jeff, of Bonnie, Mary Ann George and husband, Bob, of Goldsboro, N. C., and Laurie Ann Tate of Mount Vernon; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
His father and one brother, William "Bill" Hughey, preceded him in death.
Mr. Hughey was committed to his funeral home and the community of family and friends he served over the last 33 years. Nothing pleased him more than to help those in need. Mr. Hughey's Family Farm was an extra special joy to him. He loved raising his cattle and seeing his children and grandchildren enjoy it so much. His three grandsons lit up his life with Joy and love, and they meant the world to him.

Duane C. Webster
MURPHYSBORO -- Duane C. Webster, 83, died at 8:26 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 31, 2001, in St. Joseph Memorial Hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today in the United Methodist Church, with the Revs. Robin Lyons and Earl Renshaw officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 505 N. Parkway, P. O. Box 3704, Memphis, TN.
Crawshaw Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Webster was a retired production engineer.
He was a Protestant.
He was born July 15, 1928, in Sedgwick, Colo., to Earl and Maude (Bothel) Webster.
He married Roberta Sterling Hall on March 10, 1945, in Washington, N.C. She survives.
Other survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Dolores and Marty McNitt of Murphysboro and Diane and Henry Hoshiko of Longmont, Colo.; two sisters, Roberta Fouts of Golden, Colo., and Josephine Cunningham of Akin, S. C.; two brothers, Clifford Clayburn of Canon City, Colo., and Clyde Clayburn of Washington; two granddaughters, Amanda Hoshiko of Longmont and Melanie Hoshiko and husband, David, of Loveland, Colo.; grandsons and their spouses, Andrew and Nancy McNitt of Murphysboro, Benjamin and Pam Hoshiko of Longmont, Daniel and Shirley Hoshiko of Littleton, Colo., and Bill and Ellen McNitt of Carbondale; great-grandsons, Aaron, Caleb and Josha Hoshiko, and Aaron and Cole McNitt; and great granddaughters, Hana, Kalena, Nina, Kai and Stephanie Hoshiko.
His parents preceded him in death.

Juanita Jones
CAIRO -- Juanita Jones, 91, died Friday, Dec. 28, 2001, in Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
Services will be at noon today in Cairo congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses, with Brother James W. Woodside officiating. Burial will be in Spencer Heights Memorial Park in Mounds. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon at the Cairo congregation.
Algee Funeral Home in Carbondale is in charge of arrangements.

Ashley Halbin
MOUNT VERNON -- Ashley Roi Halbin, 21, died at 11:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 31, 2001.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Hughey Funeral Home, with the Rev. Donald Breeze officiating. Burial will be in East Hickory Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Frank Tripp
ANNA -- William Frank Tripp, 89, of Anna died at 6:18 p.m. Monday, Dec. 31, 2001, at Union County Hospital in Anna. He was born on June 19, 1912, in Anna, the son of Dugan and Agnes Highland Tripp.
He was married to Eva Leona Fox on Feb. 21, 1931, in Union County. She preceded him in death on Jan. 22, 1995.
Frank is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, John E. and Una Tripp of Anna: two sisters, Mary Keith of Anna, Louise Rich of Cobden; one brother, Glenn Tripp of Cobden; a sister-in-law, Mary Tripp of Anna; three grandchildren, Debbie and husband, Terry Strunk, of Anna; Von Tripp and wife Glenna, and J. D. Tripp and wife, Gwen, all of Anna; 5 great-grandchildren, Tyler Trevor, Taylor, Alyssa and Jaryt Tripp, other, relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents,
Survivors include his wife, Leona; one brother, Glenn Tripp, and two sisters, Cathryn Dillow and Betty Taylor.
Frank was a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist church, a retired fireman from the Manteno State Hospital of 23 years and a retired farmer of 50 years.
Funeral services for Mr., William Frank Tripp will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 3, 2002 at the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church, with the Rev. Doug Bridgeman and Rev. PL, Montgomery officiating. Interment will be in the Ebenezer Hall cemetery near Lick Creek. Friends may call at the Lutz & Rendleman Funeral Home in Anna from 5 until 8 p.m. this evening and after 10 a.m. on Thursday at the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church.
Memorial contributions may be made to Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church.

Alice F. Roe
MARION -- Alice F. Roe, 82, died at 12:54 a.m. Monday, Dec. 31, 2001, in Marion Memorial Hospital.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Absher-Nicholson Funeral Home in Carrier Mills, with the Rev. Mark Madeja officiating. Burial will be in Joyner Cemetery in Stonefort. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the cemetery.
Mrs. Roe was a retired sales clerk and had worked at South Haven Pharmacy in Valparaiso, Ind.
She was a member of the Seventh-day Baptist Church in Stonefort.
She was born Sept. 30, 1919, in Pope County to Ralph and Ida (Martin) Lewis.
She married William Bertes Roe. He died May 5, 1987,
Survivors include two sons, Ronnie Kent Roe of Friendswood, Texas, and Emery Glen Row of Mooresville, Ind.; two daughters, Marilyn Ruth Roe and Mary Alice Green, both of Marion; two brothers, Ralph Lewis of Flint, Mich., and Arthur Lewis of Vienna; one sister, Mabel Hill of Ozark, Fla.; two stepbrothers, Frank "Dude" Cobb of Carmi and Robert Cobb of McLeansboro; five grandchildren, Kimberly, Christopher, Mark, Melodie and Brady; and several great-grandchildren.
Her parents, one brother, Howell Lewis, and three sisters, Jean King, Emma Katherine McSparin and Ethel Pauline Lewis, also preceded her in death.
