PULASKI COUNTY -- Ernest Lee Stork, of Paducah, Ky., formerly of Pulaski County, died Monday morning, Aug. 5, 2002, at Medco Center Nursing Home in Paducah. Services will be at noon Thursday in the Barkett Funeral Home in Mounds, with the Rev. Robert D. McCoy officiating. Burial will follow in Spencer Heights Cemetery in Mounds. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to noon Thursday at the funeral home.

Charlene Bragg
CARBONDALE -- Mrs. Charlene Bragg, 93, died at 6:45 a.m. Monday, August 5, 2002, at her home. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, August 8, at Crain Funeral Home Pleasant Grove Chapel in Murphysboro. Burial will follow in Pleasant Grove Memorial Park. Visitation will be after 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested for VNA/TIP Hospice or the University Baptist Church.

Frances Kubilski
JOHNSTON CITY -- Mrs. Frances (Burga) Kubilski passed away Friday, July 19, 2002, in Thomson. She is survived by her husband, Joe Kubilski, and her sister, Mary Burga. Mrs. Kubilski was cremated. Interment and memorial will be at a later date.

Pearl Podnar
HERRIN -- Pearl Podnar, 93, died at 2:30 p.m. Monday, August 5, 2002, at Park Avenue Health Care Center in Herrin. Arrangements are incomplete at Van Natta Funeral Home in Herrin.

Emma A. Rich
HURST -- Emma A. Rich, 68, died Saturday, Aug. 3, 2002, at St. John's Hospital in Springfield. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 6, at the Walker Funeral Home in Hurst, with the Rev. Dennis Fager officiating. Burial will be in Blairsville Cemetery in Blairsville. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, August 5 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes. Association, 2580 Federal Drive, Suite 403, Decatur, IL. 62526. She was born March 25, 1934, in Bush, to Jesse and Verbia Shelton Hester. She was a homemaker and a member of the Methodist Church in Hurst. She was a member of the Eastern Star in De Soto and a volunteer at the Hurst Christmas Community Dinner. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Ted Rich, who died on Dec. 29, 1974; three brothers and three sisters. She is survived by three daughters, Norma Kerley of Bush, Becky Leach and Stephen of Royalton, Kathy McPherson and Larry of Marion; a son; Jim Rich and Julie of Hurst, a daughter, Cindy Woolsey and Duke of Hurst; grandchildren, Angel Messick, Justin and James Gretchen Kerley, Stephanie and Samuel Leach, Emily and Teddy Rich, Cotton And Dylan Woolsey; special friend Wilbert "Slim" Schlimert of Carterville; two sisters, Kathleen Cash of Lancaster, Calif. and Anita Claunch, of Olive Branch; special nephew David Allsup; several nieces and nephews.

Bonita A. Meade
GRAND TOWER -- Bonita A. Meade, 71, died at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 2, 2002, at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Crawshaw Funeral Home in Grand Tower, with the Rev. Donald Grammer officiating. Burial will be in Walker Hill. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association. She was a homemaker. She was a member of First Baptist Church. She was also a member of VFW Women's Auxiliary in Grand Tower. Bonita was born April 11, 1931, in Grand Tower, to Eva Cripps. On Aug. 15, 1951, she married Doyle Meade in Piggott, Ark. He preceded her in death on Nov. 21, 1986. She is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law; Gary and Nina Meade of Round Lake Beach, Robert and Kathleen Meade of Grand Tower , and George Meade and special friend, Kathy, of Granite City; a brother, Charles Cripps of Grand Tower; seven grandchildren, Douglas of Cobden, George and Daniel of Granite City, Gary, Joseph, and Jennifer of Round Lake Beach, and Rochelle of Hawaii; and three great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband and a sister, Esther Cripps.

HERRIN -- Aida Pagano, 89, died at 3:38 p.m. Sunday, August 4, 2002, at Park Avenue Health Care Center in Herrin. Arrangements are incomplete at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin.

Robert Eugene Helbig
TAMAROA -- Robert Eugene Helbig, 52, died at 11:47 p.m. Friday, Aug. 2, 2002, at his residence. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 6, at the Searby Funeral Home in Tamaroa, with the Rev. Raymond Baggot officiating. Burial will be in the Tamaroa Cemetery. military graveside rites will be conducted by the Du Quoin VFW Post 513. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, August 5, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Hospice of Southern Illinois or the American Cancer Society.

Gladys Williamson
CARMI -- Gladys Williamson, 82, formerly of McLeansboro, died at 11:35 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 3, 2002, at White County Hospital in Carmi. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 7, at Ghoulson Funeral Home in McLeansboro, with the Rev. Robert Sefried officiating. Burial will be in I. O. O. F Cemetery in McLeansboro. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, August 6, at the funeral home.

Alma Harrelson
WEST FRANKFORT -- Alma Geneva Harrelson, 81, died at 10 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 3, 2002, at Marion Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 6, at the Union Funeral Home in West Frankfort, with the Rev. Brett Beasley officiating. Burial will be in Denning Cemetery in West Frankfort. Visitation will be after 9 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Clifton McAuley
HARRISBURG -- Clifton Farris McAuley, 76, died at 3 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 3, 2002, at his residence. Funeral services and burial will be in Blytheville, Ark. Visitation was from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 4, 2002, at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg.

Edwin Penick
NEW BURNSIDE -- Edwin Penick, 77, died Sunday, Aug. 4, 2002, at his residence. At Mr. Penick's request, he will be cremated. There will be no services or visitation. Felty Funeral Home in Carrier Mills is in charge of arrangements.

Jessie M. Rodewald
JACOB -- Jessie M. Rodewald, 95, died at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 3, 2002, at Memorial Hospital in Chester. Funeral services will beat 10: 30 a.m. at St. Ann's Catholic Church, with Father Leo J. Hayes officiating. Burial will be in St. Andrew's Catholic Cemetery in Murphysboro. Visitation will be from 8 to 10 a.m. Monday at Wilson's Funeral Home in Ava. Memorials may be made to masses. She was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church in Raddle. She was born Nov. 2, 1906, the daughter of William F. and Maude B. (Bradshaw) Gale. She married Ernest F. Rodewald on April 25, 1925, in Murphysboro. He passed away Sept. 2, 1983. She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Peggy Johnson and Mary A. and Harold Howie, all of Chester; a son, John Rodewald of Chester; a daughter-in-law, Barbara Rodewald of Chester; a brother, Oliver Gale of Murphysboro; ten grandchildren and their spouses, Jeryl and Alma Johnson, Kathy and Gary Lowry, Harold W. and Terry Howie, Bob and Sharon Howie, Joyce and Mike Hayer, Jane and Don Berry, Nancy and Jeff Crosslend, Susan and Aziz Darwish, Diann and Jeff Kerkhover, and Randy Rodewald and his special friend, Dana; 17 great grandchildren and their spouses, Janee and John Lee Wolfhagen, Jessica Johnson, Jeffrey Johnson, Dustin Johnson, Amy and Patrick Miller, Leslie and Tim Ebers, Josh and Christa Howie, Matthew Howie, Brett Howie, Chris Hayer, Marcus Hayer, Bree Crosslend, Ahmad Darwish, Ramsey Darwish, Yasmine Darwish, Lauren Kerkhover, and Austin Kerkhover; and four great great grandchildren, Tiokia Wolfhagen, Johnnie Wolfhagen, Silas Wolfhagen, and Gheri Weiss. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers; two infant sisters; one son-in-law, Virgil Johnson; and one infant son.

Angela Garagiola
HERRIN -- Angela Garagiola, 86, died at 8:25 a.m. Friday, Aug. 2,2002, at her niece's residence in Elkhart, Ind. She was born Aug. 20, 1915 in Herrin, to Egildo and Gioacomia "Minnie" (Berra) Garagiola. She worked for the Farm Security Administration in Champaign, and Indianapolis, Ind., Norge Company in Herrin and at the Carbondale Clinicas a medical secretary. She attended St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Elkhart, where she made her home for the last 7 years with her niece, Janice Lohman. She was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Herrin. Survivors include a niece, Janice Lohman of Elkhart; a great niece and husband, Lori and Kevin Camblin of Itasca; a great nephew, Jeff Lohman of Bristol, Ind., a great nephew, Matthew and Susan Lohman of Avondale, Ga.; great great nieces and nephews, Marlowe Camblin, Colin Camblin, Clare Camblin, Brad Lohman, Stacey Lohman, and Joey Lohman; and a step niece, Glenda Newlin of Newburg, Ind., and her children. Her parents; sister, Mary G. Marlow; and brother, Herman Garagiola preceded her in death. The funeral mass will be at 10 a. m., Monday at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Herrin. Burial will follow at San Carlo Cemetery. Msgr. Ken Schaefer will officiate. Visitation will be Sunday from 6 to 9 p.m. at Johnson Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. A prayer service will begin at 6 p.m. Memorials may be made to OLMC Catholic Church, San Carlo Cemetery and OLMC/St. Mary's School Foundation and will be accepted at the funeral home.

Lyda V. Webb
DU QUOIN -- Lyda V. Webb, 83, of Du Quoin, passed away at 11:09 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 1, 2002, at Fairview Nursing Home in Du Quoin. Lyda was born on July 30, 1919, in Thompsonville, to William Lon and Minnie Mae (Martin) Duke. She married Leslie M. Webb on Nov. 2, 1940, in Paducah. He preceded her in death on Feb. 27, 1987. She was retired as a caregiver, caring for those in poor health, and a cook for a sorority at SIUC. Webb was of Pentecost faith. She was a member of, and taught the Beginners Sunday School Class at Royalton Apostolic Church. When she was able Lyda enjoyed sewing, cooking (she once sold enough pies to purchase a new vacuum for the church), talking and watching television. Survivors include: son and daughter-in-law, Jerry Lee and Billie Webb Sr. of Sesser; daughter and son-in-law, Judith Mae and Bob Ballard, Bush; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, Delmar Duke, Mendota, and Martin Duke, Augusta, Mich. Her parents, husband, daughter; Betty Mayers, brothers; Jack and Troy Duke, two sisters; Lillian Vantrease and Hazel Brown and one still born brother preceded her in death. The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. Rev. Donald Maas will officiate. Burial will follow at Blairsville Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until time of service Sunday at the funeral home. Memorial donations are suggested to the Royalton Apostolic Church Building Fund.
