Frank Joseph Skrypack
SESSER -- Frank Joseph Skrypack, 82, died at 9:55 p.m. Wednesday, July 31, 2002, at his home. He was a retired machinist after 30 years at International Harvest. He was of the Catholic faith. He was born Sept. 18, 1919, in Buckner, to Joseph Scrypack and Mary Zimny. He is survived by cousins, Irene and Mike Wisnoski of Sesser, Carolene and Mike Powenski of Sesser, Billy Zimny of Carbondale, Marsha Codey of Arizona; and twelve nieces and nephews in Poland. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Brayfield-Gilbert Funeral Home in Sesser. Burial will be in Maple Hill in Sesser. Visitation will be from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Bruce Brown
JONESBORO -- Bruce Brown, 75, of Jonesboro, died at 4:12 p.m. Friday, August 2, 2002, at Union County Hospital in Anna. Funeral arrangements are pending at Lutz & Rendleman Funeral Home in Anna.

Helen L. Caraker
ANNA -- Mrs. Helen L. Caraker, 78, of Lake Placid, Fla., and formerly of Anna, died at 10:07 p.m. Wednesday, July 31, 2002, at her home in Lake Placid. She was born Nov. 28,1923, in Anna, the daughter of John and Mayme Williams Kirkpatrick. She married Curtis M. Caraker, April 14, 1943, and he preceded her in death Oct. 20,1995. She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Bob and Betty Caraker of Anna; two daughters and one son-in-law, Donna Sadler of Jonesboro and Glenda and Larry Koeller of Winslow; seven grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and a host of square dance friends. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Cobden, the Highlands Co. Florida Square Dancers, and a life member of the Anna VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She was a retired Dietary and Mental Health Technician at the Choate Center in Anna. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Anna, with the Rev. Dewayne Taylor officiating. Interment will be in the Anna Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Good Shepherd Hospice.

Donald R. Schubert
MOUNT VERNON -- Donald R. Schubert, 71, of Mt. Vernon, died at 12:55 p.m. Friday, Aug. 2, 2002 at his home. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2002 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Mt. Vernon with Father Dan Jurek presiding. Burial will be at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 5 at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon with a rosary service at 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Mary's Catholic Church Building Fund or St. Mary's Good Samaritan Home Health and Hospice Services and will be accepted at the funeral home or may be mailed to Hughey Funeral Home, P. O. Box 721, Mt. Vernon, Il. 62864.

Ardith L. Graham
WOODLAWN -- Ardith L. Graham, 62, of Woodlawn, died at 3:05 a.m. Friday, Aug. 2, 2002 at her home. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at Hughey Funeral Home with burial to follow in Woodlawn Oddfellows Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial can be made to the St. Mary's Good Samaritan Hospice and will be accepted at the funeral home or may be mailed to the Hughey Funeral Home, P. O. Box 721, Mt. Vernon 62864.

Mildred 'Shorty' Fleener
MOUNT VERNON -- Mildred "Shorty" Fleener, 73, of Mt. Vernon, died at 1 a.m. Friday, Aug. 2, 2002 at St. Mary's Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 5, at Hughey Funeral Home, the Rev. Richard Pearce officiating, with burial to follow in Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 4, at the funeral home.

Marvelle Sutton
HARRISBURG -- Marvelle Sutton, 76, of 1411 McHaney Rd. in Harrisburg, died at 9:45 a.m. Friday, Aug. 2, 2002 at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, August 5, at Felty Funeral Home in Carrier Mills. Visitation will be Sunday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral homes and burial will be in Sunset Lawn Cemetery in Harrisburg.

Mitchell W. George
COBDEN -- Mitchell W. George, 47, Carmel, Maine, formerly of Cobden, died at 2 p.m. Friday, August 2, 2002, in Van Gor, Maine. Funeral arrangements are pending at Lutz & Rendleman Funeral Home in Cobden.

Adelle Hewette
CARBONDALE -- Adelle Hewette of Carbondale died Friday morning at her home. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 5, 2002, in Crain Funeral Home Pleasant Grove Chapel. Entombment will follow in the Pleasant Grove Memorial Park Mausoleum. Friends may call at the time of services.

Angela Garagiola
HERRIN -- Angela Garagiola, 86, died at 8:25 a.m. Friday, August 2, 2002 at her residence in Elkhart, Ind. A funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 5, at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Herrin. Msg. Ken Schaefer will officiate. Visitation will be Sunday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Johnston Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin with a Rosary at 6 p.m. Burial will be at San Carlo Cemetery in Herrin.

Clyde Pittman
GALATIA -- Clyde "Shorty" Buren Pittman, 84, of Galatia, died Friday, Aug. 2, 2002 at 12:48 a.m. in the Good Shepherd Nursing Home. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 4 in the Sloan Funeral Home. Interment will be at Sunset Lawn Cemetery and visitation will be on Sunday, Aug. 4 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Sloan Funeral Home.

Kathleen Burgdorf
PRAIRIE DU ROCHER -- Kathleen "Kathy" A. Burgdorf, 48, died at 11:04 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 1, 2002, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident on Illinois 154 and Industrial Park, just east of Red Bud. Funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Evansville, with the Rev. John J. Joyce officiating. Burial will be in St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 8 to 9:45 a.m. Monday at Welge-Pechacek Funeral Home in Evansville. A prayer service will be at 5 p.m. Sunday. Memorials may be made to St. Boniface Catholic Church in Evansville, American Cancer Society or St. John Lutheran Church in Red Bud.

Vangia Woodard
BENTON -- Vangia (Cochrum) Woodard, 88, of Benton, formerly of Ewing, died at 5:50 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 1, 2002, at her home, in the same bed she was born on. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Morton and Johnston Funeral Home in Benton, with the Rev. John Overturf officiating. Burial will be in the Shiloh Cemetery in Whittington. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Evelyn Ehrstein
GRAND CHAIN -- Evelyn Ehrstein, 78, of Winter Park, Fla., formerly of Grand Chain, died at 12:45 a.m. Friday, Aug. 2, 2002, at The Florida Hospital in Orlando, Fla. Arrangements are incomplete at the Wilson Funeral Home in Karnak.

Frank L. Crider
TAMMS -- Frank L. Crider, 73, formerly of Tamms, died at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 1, 2002, at the Illinois Veteran's Home in Anna. He was born on Sept. 6, 1928, in Tamms to John Logan and Dora (Hardy) Crider. His wife Frances Mary "Susie" Crider preceded him in death in 1987. He was a member of the Hoffman Estates Catholic Church. He was a retired trucker. He served his country in the U. S. Army during World War II. He is survived by three sisters, Gen Hendrick of Ullin, Jean Lingle of Tamms and Marie Brown of Cape Girardeau, MO; nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, two sisters and five brothers. Funeral services for Frank L. Crider will be at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at Crain Funeral Home in Tamms, with the Rev. Larry Buckles officiating. Interment will be Monday in St. Adalbert Cemetery in Niles. Visitation will be after 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Mary A. Hudson
CHRISTOPHER -- Mary A. Hudson, 79, died on Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2002, at Herrin Hospital. She was born Dec. 31, 1922, in Scheller, to Lorenzo P. Lovelady and Mary Ethel (Neville) Lovelady. She married Luther Hudson and he survives. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Marmony West City Freewill Baptist Church. Survivors include one daughter, Joyce Todd of Buckner; three grandchildren, Jennifer, Jason and Jeremy Todd of Buckner; and one brother, James "Tooter" Lovelady of Sesser. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, at Gilbert Funeral Home in Christopher, with Brother Larry Cook and Brother Chris Hammonds officiating. Interment will be in Mitchell Cemetery in Sesser. The body will lie in state after 6 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 25, at the funeral home.

Linda J. Joiner
CHRISTOPHER -- Linda J. Joiner, 61, died on Monday, Oct. 21, 2002, at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Gilbert Funeral Home in Christopher, with Brother Bert Mitchell officiating. Interment will be in Hammond Cemetery. Visitation will be after 6 p.m. today at the funeral home. Mrs. Joiner was born Sept. 6, 1941, in Christopher to Adolph Stritzel and Mary Howell Stritzel. She married Ronald E. Joiner, who survives. She was a homemaker and a member of the West City Baptist church. Survivors include her mother, Mary Stritzel; one daughter, June Zinck and her husband James of Fayetteville; two sons, Richard Joiner of Goreville and Kevin Joiner and his wife Regina of Benton; and four grandchildren, Jamie Zinck, Joshua Zinck, Lindi Joiner and Ashley Forbes. She was preceded in death by her father, Adolph Stritzel; one brother, Don Stritzel; and one sister, Sharon Kay Stritzel.
