PINCKNEYVILLE -- Mildred L. Ziegler, 91, of Pinckneyville, died at 7:27 p. m. Oct. 5, 2004, at her son's home in Nashville. She was born on May 11, 1913, in Pinckney- ville, a daughter to Otto J. and Christina (Beck) Roethe. She married Rudolf H. Ziegler on Oct. 2, 1937, in the Zion Lutheran Church in Pinckneyville, and he preceded her in death Feb. 9, 1979. She worked at the Pinckneyville Garment Factory before her marriage and then became a homemaker. She was actively involved in the Zion Lutheran Church of Pinckneyville, was a seamstress and enjoyed quilting and all types of
needlework
. She was also a member of the Perry County Home Extension for the past 54 years. Survivors include three sons, William O. and wife Marilyn of Lewisville, Texas, David R. and wife Polly of O'Fallon, and Mark F. and wife Deb of Nashville; one brother, Carl Roethe of Pinckneyville; two sisters-in-law, Hilda Roethe of Pinckneyville, and Dorothy Roethe of Columbia, and eight grandchildren, William M. , Michael R. , Traci L. , Lyndsey M. , Christopher R. , Bradley M. Ziegler, Alicia and husband Torrin Suedmeyer and Bethany and husband Colin Meisinger; and one great-grandchild: Shea Suedmeyer. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and three brothers; Herbert, Ervin and Walter Roethe; and three sisters-in-law: Edna, Edna and Isabelle Roethe. Services will be held at 10 a. m. William Ralph Brandon Jr.
CARBONDALE -- William Ralph Brandon Jr., 83, of Carbondale, died at 7:13 p. m. Monday, Oct. 4, 2004, at the VA Medical Center in Marion. Mr. Brandon was born on Feb. 24, 1921, in Carbondale, the son of William Ralph and Judith (Roy) Brandon. He married Doris M. Stanley on Oct. 17, 1942, in Cape Girardeau, and she survives. Mr. Brandon was an
Army veteran of World War II. Bill was a meat cutter in Carbondale for more than 50 years. He was a member of the Lakeland Baptist Church, the American Legion and the Disabled American Veterans. He is also survived by two sons, William of Troy and Scott of Murphysboro; four daughters, Karen Owens of Virden, and Nancy West, Susan Isaacson and Beth Brandon, all of Southern Illinois; 11 grandchildren; one foster grandchild; four great-grandchildren; and two foster great-grandchildren. In addition, Bill is survived by one brother, Kenneth 'Jack' Brandon of Oklahoma, and one sister, Doris Slonecker of Oregon. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and two brothers. Services will be at 10 a. m. today, Oct. 7, 2004, in Huffman-Harker Funeral Home in Carbondale, with Mr. Ken Lundstrom officiating. CHESTER -- Aileen Fulford, 98, of Chester, passed away at 12 a. m. Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2004, at St. Ann's Healthcare Center, in Chester. She was born to George Madison and Mary Ann (Burton) Telfrey May, 14, 1906, in Kensee, Ky. She married Allen Thompson Fulford March 24, 1928, in Murphyboro; he preceded her in death March 18, 1962. She was a nurse's aid at Herrin Hospital and the Cook County Hospital in Chicago. Then she was employed at Gilster Mary-Lee Corporation until her retirement. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Ellis Grove. Survivors include four cousins, Mary Alice (Don) Welge, Julia (Wib) Saak both of Chester, Betty (Bill) Lohman of Peoria and Jewell Radcliffe of Pekin. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one brother, George Woodrow 'Dick' Telfrey. Services will be at 2 p. m. Arma White
GOLCONDA -- Arma L. White passed away Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2004, in the Shawnee Christian Nursing Home in Herrin. Arma was born May 5, 1920, in Golconda, where she was a lifelong resident. She was retired from the State of Illinois Department of Children and Family Services. Arma enjoyed her retirement traveling, playing golf and gardening, as well as with family. She was a member of the Golconda Historical Society, treasurer of the City Cemetery
and Neglected Cemeteries of Pope County, and a member of Rebecca Lodge and the Methodist Church. She is survived by two daughters and one son-in-law, Sue Ellen Jansco of Johnston City and Sandra and Bill Walker of Carbondale; one brother, Jack Bauer of Clearwater, Fla.; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Alma Bauer; her husband, Jesse R. White; and her grandson, Jay Jansco. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p. m. today at the Hosick Funeral Home-Rottmann Chapel in Golconda. Funeral services will be at 1 p. m. CARTERVILLE -- Florence Wilson Felts, 87, of Roswell, Ga. , formerly of Carterville, died Saturday, Oct. 2, 2004. She was a resident of Carterville for 24 years. She was a very active member of the Order of the Eastern Star, the White Shrine and Amaranth. She was also a member of the First Christian Church of Carterville, where she taught high school Sunday school. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Ross Felts, in 2001. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Richard (Karrol) Ward of Roswell and Mr. and Mrs. Ron (Barbara) Finley of Easley, SC; her grandchildren, Jeff and Stephanie Finley, Jennifer and Andrew Brett, Steve and Cathy Ward, Doug and Tana Ward, Kara and Gary Chagnon, and Randy and Barbara Ward; 12 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and her nieces and nephews. Friday, Oct. 8, at Walker Funeral Home in Hurst. Mrs. Huddleston was a post mistress in LaClede for 29 years. She was a member of the Methodist Church in Elkville. She was born Nov. 29, 1915, to Joe and Ida (Bowlby) Nausley in DeSoto. She married James Vernall Huddleston March 28, 1938, in Jackson, Mo. He preceded her in death Nov. 2, 1987. Survivors include a son, Jim Huddleston and daughter-in-law, Connie of Pittsburg, Kan.; daughter, Janet Manahan and son-in-law, Larry of Florence, Ariz.; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one brother, Donald Nausley of De Soto. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and four sisters.

Harold was born on April 26, 1932, in West Frankfort, the son of James and Elizabeth Ruth (Wilson) Ray. He married Marjorie Louise (Bevens) Upchurch, who preceded him in death. He then married Alice (Parsygnat) Herron on Oct. 4, 2003, in Herrin, and she survives. Harold worked for a heating and air conditioning company in Dallas. He was a veteran of the Korean conflict, serving in the Air Force and receiving a Purple Heart. He is survived by one daughter, Nancy Paige of Dallas; three stepchildren, Joseph Leise, Sam Leise and Margaret Herron; two step grandchildren, Erin and Jennifer; one sister, Margaret Cobb of Johnston City; two brothers, Harry Ray of Johnston City and Robert Ray of Evansville, Ind.; and many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Mary Perschbacher and Norma Spiller; and three brothers, Charles Ray, James Ray and Clifford Joe Ray.

She married Herbert Ervin on Sept. 9, 1946, in Lepanto, Ark. , and Herbert survives. She was a member of the First Apostolic Church in Marion. She was a homemaker. Survivors include her husband, Herbert Ervin of Johnston City; one son and daughter-in-law, the Rev. Elvin and Velda Ervin of Herrin; four grandchildren, Ramona and husband the Rev. Terry Griffith and Aaron and wife Marilyn Richardson, all of Herrin, Nathan V. Richardson of Cave Creek, Ariz., and Derek L. Ervin of Chicago; six great-grandchildren, Dustin and Jordan Griffith and Kayla, Michal, Lissa and Emaleigh Richardson, all of Herrin; one brother and sister-in-law, John M. and Esta Bell Mayner of Fenton, Mich.; two sisters-in-law, Callie Mae Mayner and Dorothy Mayner, both of Flint, Mich.; and several nieces and nephews. She is also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Ray and Gene Price; and an infant sister, Mabel Davis. Inez was a longtime member of University Baptist Church in Carbondale and had just recently moved her membership to First Baptist Church in Carterville, where she could attend with her family. She was also a member of AARP and the Southern Illinois Writers Guild. She was the author of 'Facets of a Diamond' and 'The Thomas Brand. 'Inez graduated from Oklahoma University in Norman, Okla. , with a Bachelor of Arts in education. After graduation, she attended the Woman's Missionary Union Training School in Louisville, Ky. , where she received a master's degree in religious education in May 1938. Mrs. Taylor was a teacher in Oklahoma and Houston.

CARTERVILLE -- Helen Marie Plumlee Banycky, born Dec. 10, 1925, the daughter of Arthur and Nora Brayfield Plumlee, died Oct. 4, 2004, at home with her family. Helen married Harry Banycky on Aug. 7, 1948, in Cambria. He preceded her in death July 7, 1984. Helen will be sadly missed by her children, Mauri and husband Allan Norman, Susan and husband Charlie Norman, and Hank and wife Libby Banycky; her beloved grandchildren, Heather and husband Jimmy Jarvis, Marshall and wife April Norman, Kara Norman, Ryan Norman, Kristin Banycky, and Lauren Banycky; her great-grandchildren, Holly Morsch, Randi Stilley and Audrey Norman; and her many nieces, nephews and special friends. CARBONDALE -- Juanita E. Kelley, 92, of Carbondale, passed away at 2:45 a. m. on Saturday, Oct. 2, 2004, at Parkway Manor of Marion. Juanita was born on Jan. 21, 1912, in Johnston City, the daughter of Harvey and Elsie (Whittington) Zeigler. She married Arlie E. Kelley on Dec. 20, 1933, in Jonesboro, who preceded her in death on March 4, 1989. She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Kaye Kelley of Carbondale; one daughter and son-in-law, Wilma Kay and Jack Neal of Ellettsville, Ind.; and one sister and brother-in-law, Jean and Melvin Bandy of Herrin. Also surviving are five grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren: Kathy and husband Jim Booziotis and their children, Kristy and Scott; Michael and wife Rhonda Kelley and their children, Maggie, Michael, Mollie and Brian, all of Carbondale; the children of granddaughter Kim Owen (deceased), Nicole and Matthew; Kelley and husband Marty Hobbs and their daughter, Lindsey; Kara and husband Mike Kalb and their children, Justine and Lauren; Kris and husband Craig Cowden and their children, Cody and Ryan, all of Ellettsville and Spencer, Ind. Juanita also had 15 nieces and nephews, plus their children, that she loved watching grow up and spent much time with. Preceding her in death were her parents, Harvey and Elsie Zeigler; her husband, Arlie E. Kelley; two brothers, Cecil and Harvey Zeigler; two sisters, Wilma Jenne and Dorothy Stewart; and one granddaughter, Kim Owen of Spencer, Ind. Juanita was a co-owner with her husband and son of Kelley's Big Star Super Market. She was an active member of Assembly of God Church, Home Extension and Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. Juanita was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. She loved being with her family and living for the Lord. Services will be held at 10 a. m. Thursday, Oct. 7, 2004, in Walker Funeral Home, with the Rev. Danny Boyd officiating and burial in Oakland Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p. m. today at the funeral home. Katherine Frances (Wright) Laur
DU QUOIN -- Katherine Frances (Wright) Laur, 88, of Du Quoin, died Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2004, in Fairview Nursing Center in Du Quoin. For the past several years, Katherine had been a resident of Fairview, but she was a lifelong resident of the Waltonville area, where she was a homemaker and helped with the Laur family farm. Katherine was born on Dec. 8, 1915, to Herbert 'Doc' and Mabel (Wever) Wright of Scheller. Katherine married Clarence F. Laur, also of the rural Scheller area. Clarence and Katherine were married on May 12, 1937, in Nashville, Ill. , and celebrated their 50th anniversary in 1987 prior to Clarence's death in 1988. Also preceding Katherine in death were four brothers Virgil, Willard, Joe and Bob Wright, and one sister, Helen Wright. Katherine was a very caring and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, always willing to share her vast knowledge of cooking, sewing, gardening and other almost-lost skills of her generation with her grandkids. Survivors include her only son, Larry Lee Laur of Du Quoin; four grandchildren and their spouses, Robyn Laur and Leo Russell, Toni and Chris Baker, Marsha and Doug Morgenstern, and Donnie and Donna Laur; eight great-grandchildren, Molly Clark and Maya Russell, Christin and Colton Baker, Garrett and Gage Morgenstern, and Zackary and Cameron Laur; and one sister and brother-in-law, Margaret and Neil Cresswell of O'Fallon. JONESBORO -- Collin Brimm, age 78, of Oxford, Ark. , formerly of Jonesboro, passed away Sunday, Oct. 3, 2004, in Oxford. He was born on Nov. 2, 1925, in Union County, the son of Oziah Dee and Nettie (White) Brimm. He worked as a highway construction laborer for many years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Anna and was a member of the Jones/Lewis VFW post in Melbourne, Ark. Mr. Brimm served in the
Army during World War II and the
Korean War. He was first married to Florence Hubbs. He later married Wanda Lee Morgan on Feb. 14, 1997, in Oxford, Ark. Survivors include his wife Wanda; three sons and daughters-in-law, Don and Maxine Brimm and Ron and Jean Brimm, all of Anna, and William and Deborah Brimm of Elgin; one daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Dennis Long of Tamms; one stepdaughter and spouse, Shirley and John Hill of Elizabethtown, Ky.; two sisters, Lucille Baldwin of Murphysboro and Helen Stoner of Anna; five grandchildren; six step grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and 11 step great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, John M. Brimm; one stepson, James Rendleman; six brothers, Frank, Carl, Russell, Bill Roy and Vic Brimm; and one sister, Betty Boyer. Services will be conducted at 10 a. m. Thursday, Oct. 7, in the chapel of Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro, with Tim Sadler officiating. Interment will be in Jonesboro Cemetery, with military rites by the Carroll P. Foster Post No. 3455 Anna VFW. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p. m. today at the funeral home.

VERGENNES -- Rufus Henry Huddleston, 58, died at 2:50 p. m. Sunday, Oct. 3, 2004, in St. Joseph Hospital in Murphysboro. Services will be at 11 a. m. Thursday, Oct. 7, in Perfetti Funeral Home in Sorento, with the Rev. Elmer L. Fenton officiating. Burial will be in Kirkland Cemetery, northwest of Sorento. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p. m. today at the funeral home.
