MURPHYSBORO -- Randal Joseph Blake, 36, died Sunday, Oct. 10, 2004. Services will be held at 1 p. m. Wednesday, Oct. 13, in Crawshaw Funeral Home in Murphysboro, with the Rev. Jeff Gordon officiating. Friends may call from 5 p. m. to 8 p. m. today and until the hour of services Wednesday at Crawshaw Funeral Home. Burial will be in Murdale Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Murphysboro. Memorials may be made to the Illinois Elks Crippled Children's Association. Randal was born in Litchfield on Aug. 28, 1968, the son of Lester 'Lee' and Nita Tweedy Blake. He was a student at John A. Logan College and worked part time at the Murphysboro Elks Lodge. He was a member of Murphysboro Elks Lodge 572 and also a member of the Sons of American Legion Post 127 in Murphysboro. Survivors include his parents, Lee and Nita Blake of Murphysboro; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Tom and Vanessa Blake of St. Peters, Mo. , and Richard Blake of Murphysboro; one twin sister, Robin Blake of Murphysboro; four nieces, Kelsey Blake of Louisville, Ky. , and Kaitlyn Blake and Lauren and Courtney Vires, all of St. Peters, Mo.; three nephews, Ryan and Matthew Blake of Louisville, Ky. , and Blake Egbert of Murphysboro; three aunts, Pat Roberts, Norma Jean and husband Johnny Dickerson, and Julia Moore, all of Murphysboro; and three uncles, John Tweedy and special friend Carol Wexstten and Jim and wife Jean Tweedy, all of Murphysboro, and Ron and Beverly Blake of Summerfield, Fla. He was preceded in death by one sister, Kelly Jo Blake, on April 1, 1979.

Anna M. (Piquard) Fenton

MURPHYSBORO -- Our beloved mother, grandmother and sister, Anna M. (Piquard) Fenton, departed her life at 8:07 p. m. Saturday, Oct. 9, 2004, with her family by her side. Services will be held at 11 a. m. Wednesday, Oct. 13, 2004, in Pettett Funeral Home, with the Rev. P. K. Sunny officiating and burial at Murdale Gardens of Memory. Friends may call from 5 to 9 p. m. today and until the hour of services Wednesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Peter's United Church of Christ. Anna was born on July 16, 1916, in Murphysboro, to Henry and Mary (Burkhardt) Piquard. She married Roger Thomas Fenton on June 17, 1937, in Murphysboro, and he preceded her in death on Feb. 27, 1984. She was a member of St. Peter's United Church of Christ and a member of the Murphysboro Senior Citizens. Mrs. Fenton had retired from the former Brown Shoe Company. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Barbara Ann and Leroy 'Lee' Schroeder of Murphysboro; one son-in-law, Ronald Hankins of Murphysboro; four grandchildren, Lynn Rieckinberg of Carbondale, Alison and Ryan Hankins of Murphysboro, and Cheryl and husband Rick Fellner of Du Quoin; six great-grandchildren, William and Joseph Romeo of Carbondale, Taylor Hankins of Murphysboro, and Ricky Lee, Nicky Jo and Michelle Fellner of Du Quoin; two sisters, Pauline Wright and Doris Winget, both of Murphysboro; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Raymond 'Bo' and Doris Piquard and Charles Piquard, all of Murphysboro; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Deborah K. Hankins; one brother, Joseph Piquard; one sister and brother-in-law, Katherine and William Carroll; one sister-in-law, Danis Piquard; and two brothers-in-law, Willard Wright and George Winget.

Rosa C. Restivo

HERRIN -- Rosa C. Restivo, 98, of Evansville, Ind. , passed away on Sunday, Oct. 10, 2004, at VNA Charlier Hospice Center. Rosa was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church. She formerly worked for her family-owned grocery store in Freeman Spur. She was also a member of the Daughters of Isabella in Herrin. Rosa is survived by her daughters, Marie Pirrello of Lakeland, Fla. , Rosalee Hanson and her husband, Robert of Punta Gorda, Fla. , Phyllis Levin and her husband, Melvin of Mount Vernon, Ind. , and Beverly Williamson of Evansville; a brother, Peter Camarata of Herrin; sisters, Theresa Sprague of Herrin and Mary Holden of Carterville. Also surviving are grandchildren, Lisa Pirrello, Rhonda Ireland, Kim Frederking, John Scott Hanson, Rod and Ron Levin, John, Joseph and Jama Williamson; and 18 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Joseph Restivo in 1964 and her son, Joseph Restivo Jr. and brothers and sisters, Willie and Joseph Camarata and Josie DiPoala and Nellie Potmas. Services will be at 11 a. m. Saturday, Oct. 16, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, 316 W. Monroe St. , in Herrin, with Monsignor Kenneth Knapp officiating. Visitation will take place from 10 a. m. to 11 a. m. at the church. Burial will be in San Carlo Cemetery in Herrin. There will be a memorial mass held at Christ the King Catholic Church at 5 p. m. on Friday, Nov. 26, 2004. Condolences may be made online at ziemerfuneral home. com. PERCY -- Robert W. Hutchison, 63, died at 2:01 p. m. Sunday, Oct. 10, 2004, at Belleville Memorial Hospital. Services will be at 11 a. m. Wednesday, Oct. 13, 2004, at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Steeleville, with the Rev. Alan W. Janneke and Vicar Dan Wing officiating. Burial will be in Percy Village Cemetery. Visitation will be after 6 p. m. today and from 7:30 to 9 a. m. Wednesday at the funeral home, and then from 10 to 11 a. m. Wednesday at the church. Memorials may be made to St. Mark's Window Fund or the American Cancer Society. Mr. Hutchison was a pressman at Spartan Printing Co. He was a member of the St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Steeleville. Mr. Hutchison loved woodworking. He was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force. He was born on Wednesday, Oct. 30, 1940, to John Hutchison and Madge (Benedict) Hutchison, in Percy. He married La Verne Mae McBride on June 30, 1962, at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Steeleville. Survivors include his wife, La Verne Hutchison of Percy; two sons, David W. Hutchison of Ware, Mass. , and Robbie J. Hutchison of Sparta; three grandchildren, Deanna Hutchison, Dillion Hutchison, and Derek Hutchison; mother, Madge Hutchison of Pinckneyville; one brother, Keith Dale Hutchison of Austin, Texas. He was preceded in death by his father and one infant son, Corie Dale Hutchison.

BAY CITY -- Myrtle Irene Sparks, 84, died at 10:25 p. m. Sunday, Oct. 10, 2004, in the Lourdes Hospital in Paducah. Services will be at 2 p. m. Wednesday, Oct. 13, in the Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home, with Ronald Bryant and the Rev. Chris Sielbeck officiating. Burial will be in the Kingston Chapel Cemetery in Massac County. Lavern J. Doiron

PRAIRIE DU ROCHER -- Lavern J. Doiron, 76, of Prairie du Rocher, passed away at 9:18 p. m. Friday, Oct. 8, 2004, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis. He was born to Ernest and Theresa (Mathews) Doiron on Aug. 15, 1928, in Prairie du Rocher. He married Audrey Jung on April 7, 1951, in Waterloo, and she survives. He was a retired manager of a grain elevator for Gateway FS for 20 years. He was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Prairie du Rocher, the Common Board, the Southwestern Illinois Program on Aging and the Non-High Board. He was a former member of the Knights of Columbus No. 1952 in Evansville. He was the mayor of Prairie du Rocher from 1976 to 1990. Survivors include his wife, Audrey Doiron of Prairie du Rocher; four children, James and wife Louise Doiron of Columbia, Larry and wife Sue Doiron of Waterloo, Susan Doiron of St. Peters, Mo. , and Lynn and husband Mike Manfredo of Marion; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Ernie and Ina Doiron and Lilburn and Shirley Doiron, all of Prairie du Rocher; nine grandchildren, Derek Doiron, Gabriel Doiron, Ernest Doiron, Mary Colyer, J. P. Doiron, Scott Doiron, Alisha Doiron, Malea Manfredo and Milana Manfredo; four great-grandchildren, Lucas, Trent, Ronin and Van Doiron; many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents. A funeral Mass will be at 10 a. m. Wednesday, Oct. 13, 2004, in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Prairie du Rocher, with Father Albert Kreher officiating. Interment will be in Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery in Waterloo. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p. m. today and from 8 to 9:30 a. m. Wednesday at Welge-Pechacek Funeral Home in Red Bud, with a prayer service at 5:30 p. m. today. Memorials may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church or to Barnes-Jewish Hospital.

Beverly Jane (Crain) Chancey

CARTERVILLE -- Beverly Jane (Crain) Chancey, 75, died at 2:55 a. m. Thursday, Oct. 7, 2004, in St. Louis University Hospital. Beverly was born on July 28, 1929, to Griff and Genevieve (Edwards) Crain in Crab Orchard. She married Homer Chancey on Jan. 14, 1946, in Crab Orchard, and he survives in Carterville. Beverly was a homemaker. She worked at the Veterans Affairs Hospital in North Chicago. Survivors include her husband, Homer Chancey of Carterville; three daughters and sons-in-law, Becky and Terry Persman of Carterville, Dianna and McLee James of Horseshoe Bend, Ark. , and Lisa and Jay Hanna of Winthrop Harbor; five grandchildren, James Persman and wife Linda of Mount Vernon, Stacy Persman of Carterville, Matthew James and wife Jessica of Killeen, Texas (Matthew is currently serving in Baghdad, Iraq), and Jenna Hanna and Patrick Hanna, both of Winthrop Harbor; four great-grandchildren, Eric, Michael and Jacob Persman of Mount Vernon and Emma James of Killeen; one brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Mary Jo Crain of Herrin; one brother-in-law, Elmer Hulsey of Bush; and several nieces and nephews. Beverly was a loving aunt and great-aunt. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters-in-law, Nettie Crain and Helen Hulsey. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p. m. today at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home, 800 N. Market St., Marion.

METROPOLIS -- Bertha Jo Goins, 75, of Metropolis, formerly of Karnak, died at 5:50 p. m. Sunday, Oct. 10, 2004, in the Metropolis Nursing and Care Center in Metropolis. Services will be at 11 a. m. Thursday at Wilson Funeral Home in Karnak, with the Rev. Steve Heisner officiating. Burial will be in Grand Chain Masonic Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p. m. Wednesday at the funeral home. JONESBORO -- Hazel Walker, 88, of Valparaiso, Ind. , formerly of Jonesboro died on Monday Oct. 11, 2004. Services will be at 11 a. m. Saturday at Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro. Burial will be in Jonesboro Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p. m. Friday at the funeral home.

CARBONDALE -- Elizabeth Maude Spiller Harris Lewis, 94, died on Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2004. Services will be at 1:30 p. m. Friday, Oct. 22, in Oakland Cemetery, with the Rev. John Annable officiating. Visitation will be after 2:30 p. m. Oct. 22 at the home of Sally Williams, located at 211 S. Violet Lane. In case of inclement weather, services will be in the parlor of the First United Methodist Church in Carbondale.

Sarah Manus

COBDEN -- Sarah E. Manus, 88, died at 7 a. m. Friday, Oct. 8, 2004, in the City Care Center of Cobden. Services will be Wednesday, Oct. 13, in Walton Funeral Home in Reno, Nev. Interment will follow in the Hebrew Cemetery in Reno. Crain Funeral Home in Anna is in charge of local arrangements.

Cynthia I. Brooks

CARBONDALE -- Cynthia I. (Croft) Brooks, 92, of Carbondale, passed away at 1:15 a. m. Saturday, Oct. 9, 2004, at Parkway Manor in Marion. Services will be at 1 p. m. today, Oct. 11, 2004, at the Huffman- Harker Funeral Home in Carbondale, with the Rev. Paul Hicks officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Memorial Park in Murphysboro. Visitation will be from 11 a. m. to 1 p. m. today at the funeral home. Cynthia married Charles D. Brooks in Carbondale on Jan. 24, 1930, where they resided until April 2002, when they moved to Parkway Manor in Marion, where they celebrated their 74th wedding anniversary on Jan. 24, 2004. Cynthia was a member of Carbondale Southern Baptist Churches where she was an active member serving as R. A. and G. A. leader as well as teaching Sunday school, Bible school and serving as president of the WMS. She was always available to help others and gave selflessly to help out as needed for her church, family and community. She enjoyed gardening and was a member of the Carbondale Garden Club and the Carbondale Federated Women's Club. Her first love was family, and her heart and home were always open for all. One of her greatest joys was sharing her home and culinary skills with family and friends, who will deeply miss her wonderful holiday dinners and family gatherings. She is survived by her husband, Charles D. Brooks of Parkway Manor, Marion; two sons, Robert C. Brooks of Honolulu, Jerry R. Brooks of Carbondale; two daughters, Barbara L. Brooks Origliosso and husband John D. of Goreville, Virginia Brooks Watson and husband David of Honolulu; also four grandchildren, Scott Hagler and wife Cathy of Carbondale, Steven Hagler and wife Heather of St. Charles, Mo. , Cynthia Hagler Hardnett and husband Robert of Rochester, and Ingra Fancher Stimach and husband Eric of Belleville, Mich. She is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren; and one niece, Susie Nicholson of Carbondale. Preceding her in death were mother, Christine Henderson of Carbondale; father, Cordie Croft of Kentucky; sister Juanita Nicholson; brother-in-law Ray Nicholson; niece Muriel Nicholson, all of Carbondale, and brother, William Edward 'Buster' Croft of Kentucky.

Mark Nebel officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p. m. today at Styninger Funeral Chapel in Hoyleton. MURPHYSBORO -- Jane (Woods) Callaway, 78, formerly of Murphysboro, passed away at 8:30 a. m. Saturday, Oct. 9, 2004, at Manor Care in Normal. Services will be held at 11 a. m. Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2004, at Pettett Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jeff Gordon officiating and burial will be in Pleasant Grove Memorial Park. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p. m. today and Tuesday until the hour of services at the funeral home. Eastern Star services will be held at 6:30 p. m. today at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Jackson County Humane Society. Jane was born on Aug. 11, 1926, in Chicago, to Harry Woods and Beulah (Roscoe) Woods. She had worked at local banks as a teller and proof operator in the Murphysboro and Carbondale area. Mrs. Callaway was a member of the First Baptist Church in Murphysboro, where she had been a former youth leader. She was a member and past worthy matron of the Order of Eastern Star, a member of the Past Worthy Matron's Club, and a member of White Shrine of Jerusalem. She had been a Hospice volunteer and a Meals on Wheels volunteer. She was also a Women's Circle member. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a friend to all the people she knew. Jane married William Callaway on Sept. 17, 1950, in Carbondale, and he preceded her in death on Jan. 6, 1977. She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Michael Kortkamp of Bloomington; two grandchildren, Katie Kortkamp and Sam Kortkamp, both of Bloomington; one brother, M. Chris Woods of Marion; four nieces, MaiMai Horovitz of Northport, N. Y. , Pat Woods, of Dalton, Ga. , Christy Moore of Chesapeake Beach, Md. , and Debbie Standish of California, Md. , and one nephew, Jimmy Woods of Dalton, Ga. She was preceded in death by one brother, H. D. Woods, and her parents.

MARION -- Charles J. Toler II, 74, of Marion, passed away at 6:30 p. m. Saturday, Oct. 9, 2004, at Herrin Hospital. Services will be held at 7 p. m. Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2004, at the Blue Funeral Home in Marion, with the Rev. Kenneth Kramer officiating. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p. m. Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2004, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the March of Dimes; envelopes are available at the funeral home or may be sent c/o Blue Funeral Home, PO Box 411, Marion, IL 62959. Mr. Toler was born on March 26, 1930 in Du Quoin, to Charles J. and Grace (Payne) Toler. He married Jackie Tunze on Jan. 24, 1981, and she survives. Other survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Dana Bettasso of Peru, Jill and Larry Johnson of Princeton, and Mindy and Rick Everding of Wyanette; sons and daughters-in-law, Brian and Jerry Thomas, and Brad and Debbie Thomas all of Marion; grandchildren, Ryan and Cassie Jeralds, Kedra Jeralds, Jonathan Elliott, Michaelyn Bettasso, Kailey Bettasso, Erica Thomas, Sydney Thomas, Brad and Janea McGee, Holly and Brian Pomrening, Justin Hunter and Jessica Tolbert; and great-grandchildren, Courtney McGee, Shanea Simmerman, Christian Pomrening and Madilyn Jeralds. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandson, Cole Bettasso. Mr. Toler owned and operated Toler Insurance Agency in Herrin. He was a member of the Zion United Church of Christ in Marion.
