PEKIN ~ Mary Margaret Heberer, 84, of 206 Burning Tree Drive, died at 7:15 p.m. Wednesday, October 20, 2004 at Apostolic Christian Restmor, Inc. in Morton.
Born February 22, 1920 in Pawcatuck, Connecticut to John E. and Abbie T. Sullivan Cusack, she married Bernard W. Heberer, Sr. on August 5, 1945 in Cheimsee, Germany. He died September 15, 2002 in Peoria. She also was preceded in death by two sisters, Margaret Cusack and Ann Mearns.
Surviving are two sons, Bernard William, Jr. “Bill” (Deborah) Heberer of Tremont and Steven Henry (Jane) Heberer of Pekin; three daughters, Maureen A. (Fred) Phelps of London, Kentucky, Christine M. (David) Volz and Margaret E. (David) Straughn, both of Pekin; twelve grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; seven step-great-grandchildren; one brother, John E. Cusack, Jr. of Bowie, Maryland and one sister, Abbie Pothier of Pawcatuck, Connecticut.
She was a graduate of the St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing in Hartford, Connecticut.
A World War II
Army veteran, she served with the Nurse Corps of the 112th Evacuation Hospital and attained the rank of First Lieutenant. She was a member of the William Schaefer American Legion Post 44 in Pekin.
She and her husband owned and operated The Photoggery in Pekin for more than 40 years.
She was a member of Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin, where she was a member of the Council of Catholic Women.
A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, October 25, 2004 at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin. The Rev. Timothy Nolan and Rev. Mark A. DeSutter will officiate. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, October 24, 2004 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin, with military rites accorded by the Tazewell Area Ceremonial Team.

FLOYD D. RUPP
(1928~2004)
CREVE COEUR--- Floyd Dean Rupp, 76, of 548 Carola St. died at 10:05 a.m., Wednesday, October 20, 2004 at East Peoria Gardens Health Care Center.
He was born March 25, 1928 in Peoria to Charles Grover and Georgia May Simpkins Rupp.
Surviving are 5 nieces, Pat (Archie) Taghan of Lehigh Acres, Florida, Linda Stein and Tobi (Walt) Carrington, both of Peoria, Jane Haley of Creve Coeur, and Susie (Rick) Malson of Bartonville; 2 nephews, Jack (Bev) Quinlan of Washington and Terry (Donna) Rupp of Bartonville; numerous great-nieces and nephews; and several great-great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by 2 brothers and 1 sister.
Mr. Rupp last worked for Mt Hawley Manufacturing Company, retiring in 1993. Previously, he had worked at ABC Washing Machine Company in East Peoria.
He had been an avid bowler and sports fan, especially of Bradley Braves basketball.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m., Monday, October 25, 2004 at Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria. Rev. Randy Sanders will officiate. There will be no visitation.

LARRY L. COON
(1948~2004)
PEKIN ~ Larry Leo Coon, 56, of 343 South 4th Street, Apartment 204, died at 5:04 p.m. Tuesday, October 19, 2004 at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
He was born January 25, 1948 in Peoria to Sherman Everett and Edith J. Kreps Coon.
Surviving are his mother of Pekin; one son, Troy E. (Julie) Coon of Pekin and two sisters, Lois A. Coon of Pekin and Shirley L. (William) Wall of Mesa, Arizona.
He was preceded in death by his father on May 21, 1990 in Pekin and one brother, Dick Coon on January 29, 2004 in Peoria.
Mr. Coon was a construction worker for many years. He had also driven a school bus in Pekin. He enjoyed playing bingo.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 23, 2004 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel, where visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday. Burial will be in the Lutheran Cemetery in Peoria.

WILLIAM O. MUELLER
(1917~2004)
CREVE COEUR ~ William O. Mueller, 87, of the Illinois Veterans Home in Quincy, formerly of 100 Virginia Avenue in Creve Coeur, died at 6 p.m. Sunday, October 17, 2004 at Blessing Hospital in Quincy.
He was born August 10, 1917 in Beverly to John and Mary Tammen Mueller. His first wife of 25 years, Margaret Hambugar died January 24, 1973. He later married Lucille Rinearson on May 20, 1978 in East Peoria. She died May 11, 1985. He also was preceded in death by two step-daughters; one step-son; one brother and two sisters.
Surviving are three step-daughters, Emi Benware of Scottsdale, Arizona, Loretta Parker of Plymouth, Minnesota and Linda (Wayne) Hubbard of Washington.
He was an
Army World War II veteran.
He retired in 1980 from Keystone Steel and Wire Company in Bartonville, where he worked for 35 years.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, October 21, 2004 at Lakeside Mausoleum in Pekin. The Rev. Gary L. Ford will officiate. There will be no visitation. Arrangements are by Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Creve Coeur Chapel.

ALTA HARTMAN

PEKIN ~ Alta Blanche Hartman, 73, of 1440 Park Avenue in Pekin, formerly of Ft. Smith, Arkansas, died at 2:52 p.m. Friday, October 15, 2004 at her residence.
Born August 24, 1931 in Kilbourne to Earl John and Jessie Powell Crowell Trainor, she married Eli Eugene “Gene” Hartman on July 7, 1950 in Pekin. He survives.
Also surviving are her much loved children including two sons, David Gene (Tao Tian) Hartman and Jeffrey Scott, Sr. (Grace) Hartman, both of Pekin; one daughter, Beth Anne Hartman of Seattle, Washington; three grandsons, Jonathan David Hartman of Fairfax, Virginia, Jeffrey Scott Hartman, Jr. of Fort Wainwright, Alaska and Morgan Maxwell Hartman of Pekin; two brothers, W. Thomas (Erma) Trainor of Edelstein and Terry J. (Judy) Trainor of Erin, Tennessee and two sisters, Betty (Andy) Lopata of Eureka and Mildred L. Currie of Pekin.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Erla M. Johnson and Marjory Trainor.
A person who adored children, she owned and operated The Sugarplum Tree Nursery School in Pekin for 20 years.
She was a member of the Second Reformed Church in Pekin, where she was a member of the Mary Martha Circle and had served the church as a Sunday school teacher.
She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Alta dearly enjoyed gardening and remodeling older homes. She also loved to read. She especially enjoyed her vacations near the ocean and her many trips to the casino. Up until her last moment of her life, she maintained her great sense of humor.
While living in Fort Smith for 17 years, she was well-known for having remodeled the Lick House and gardens.
At her request, no service or visitation will be held. She will be cremated. Her arrangements are under the direction of Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel.

PEKIN ~ John Thomas “Tex” Graham, 73, of 1521 Lake St., died at 3:45 a.m., Friday, October 15, 2004 at St. James Hospital in Chicago Heights.
Born April 10, 1931 in Kewanee, Illinois to Earl and Alice Saal Graham, he married Helen Pauline Williams on June 14, 1964 in North Pekin.
Surviving are his wife; 2 sons, Kevin R. Graham of Pekin and Scott D. (Wendy) Graham of North Pekin; 1 daughter, Theresa L. Graham of Pekin; 6 grandchildren; 4 brothers, Richard A. (Jeanette) Graham of Princeville, Louis F. Graham of Pekin, Donald K. (Addie) Graham of Rock Island, and Jerry D. (Kelley) Graham of Arizona; 3 sisters, Ruth Ann Mabrey of Concordia, Missouri, Judy Norton of Bloomington, and Annie (Lyle) Tyson of Table Rock, Missouri; and 2 half sisters, Carol A. (Neil) Krei of Peoria and Linda Osborne of Lebanon, Missouri.
He was preceded in death by 3 brothers.
Mr. Graham last worked for Wagenbach Lumber Company in Tremont, retiring in 1993.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Monday, October 18, 2004 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin chapel. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.

CREVE COEUR ~ Ira Everett Wood, Jr., 89, of 109 Park Ave., died at 1:40 a.m., Friday, October 15, 2004 at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria.
Born July 28, 1915 in Weed, Montana to Ira Everett and Anna Elizabeth Pitts Wood, Sr., he married Helen J. Watson on May 29, 1939 in Linneus, Missouri.
Surviving are his wife; 1 daughter, Elaine (Robert) Pesch of Morton; 4 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and 3 sisters, Vera Gillespie of Lexington, Missouri, Wava White of East Peoria, and Ruby (Frank) Reed of Peoria.
He was preceded in death by 1 daughter, Romanza Clark on August 24, 1991; 5 brothers; and 1 sister.
Mr. Wood had worked for the Armour Packing Company in Peoria for 20 years, retiring in 1978. Previously, he had farmed in Missouri for 15 years, worked for Caterpillar, Inc. for 2 years, and worked at ABC Washing Machine Company in Peoria for 2 years.
He enjoyed
hunting, fishing, and fiddling.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Monday, October 18, 2004 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Creve Coeur chapel. Rev. Al Lynn will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Roberts Cemetery in Morton.

L. ELIZABETH SUTTON

PEKIN ~ Laura Elizabeth “Beth” Sutton, 71, of 191 East Queenwood Road, Morton, died at 7:20 p.m. Sunday, October 10, 2004 at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria. She was formerly of 1317 South 9th Street in Pekin.
Born February 2, 1933 in Mountain Home, Arkansas to Everett Eugene and Nellie Maurine Burton Finley, she married Herbert Thomas Sutton on March 27, 1953 in Pekin. He died November 22, 1984 in Pekin. Her parents also preceded her in death.
Surviving are five sons, James E. (Mary) Sutton of Ortonville, Michigan, and John D. Sutton, Randy W. Sutton, Ronald L. Sutton, and Scott H. (Kim) Sutton, all of Pekin; one daughter, Lisa F. (Dan McKinley) Engel of Pekin; twelve grandchildren; two great-granddaughters; one brother, William Donald “Bill” (Ann) Burton of Pekin; and one sister, Lois (Ivan “Buck”) Lambert of Traverse City, Michigan. She also leaves a long-time companion, John Miller of Pekin, who she made her home with prior to entering the nursing home.
Mrs. Sutton worked as a driver for Crafton Cab Company in Pekin for several years. She then was a school bus driver for Hoyle Transportation in Pekin and later for the Pekin Municipal Bus Department.
She enjoyed gardening and flowers. In earlier years, she was active in the PTA at McKinley School in Pekin
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, October 14, 2004 at the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. The Rev. Ronald L. Simmons, Jr. will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, October 13, 2004 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.

ELINOR M. CAVE

CREVE COEUR ~ Elinor Mai Cave, 83, of 900 Centennial Drive, East Peoria, died at 5:54 p.m. Saturday, October 9, 2004 at Rosewood Care Center in East Peoria. She was formerly of 300 Albert Street in Creve Coeur.
Born December 27, 1920 in Union City, Tennessee to James P. and Mary Ellen Henderson Collins, she married James Thomas Copeland on June 25, 1939 in Fulton, Kentucky. He died December 17, 1969 in Creve Coeur. She later married Alvin Dewey Cave, Jr. on November 2, 1974 in Creve Coeur. He died March 22, 2000 in East Peoria. She was also preceded in death by four sisters and two brothers.
Surviving are two daughters, Patsy L. (Jess) Smith and Janie M. (Bill) Behm, both of Saint Louis, Missouri; three step-sons, Ronald Wayne (Melodee) Cave, Larry Lee (Lisa) Cave, and George Robert Cave, all of Ashland; four step-daughters, Judith Ann (John) Subu of Orlando, Florida, Mary Margaret “Mickey” (Scott) Anderson and Helen Bernice Fettis, both of Ashland, and Linda Sue (Bobbie) Alexander of Virginia, Illinois; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one brother, James David (Arta) Collins of Grand Rapids, Michigan.
She worked at the Princess Peggy Dress Company in Peoria as a sewing machine operator for 25 years, retiring in 1975.
Mrs. Cave was a member of the East Peoria Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
She enjoyed flowers, gardening, animals, crafts, and the outdoors.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 12, 2004 at the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Creve Coeur Chapel. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, October 11, 2004 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin.

PEKIN— Raymond Howard King, 72, died at 11:26 p.m., Monday, January 31, 2005 at Pekin Hospital.
Born June 15, 1932 to Robert and Bessie Boyd King, he married Thelma E. Quigley on November 22, 1947. She died June 14, 1976. He later married Gloria Jeannine Fowler Hoyle on September 23, 1978.
Surviving are his wife; 1 son, Scott King of Pekin; 2 daughters, Kathy King and Elaine Howard, both of Pekin; and 4 grandchildren.
Mr. King worked for Caterpillar, Inc. in East Peoria for 44 years.
Since 1994, he had been the host of “Ray King’s Variety Show”, Thursdays at 7 p.m. on cable TV in Pekin since 1994.
He was a member of Emmanuel Community Church in Pekin.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Friday, February 4, 2005 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin chapel. Rev. Dr. Steven Hauter will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m., Thursday, February 3, 2005 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.

GREEN VALLEY—Veneda Rose Clauson, 58, of 14309 Christmas Tree Road, died at 1:32 p.m., Sunday, January 30, 2005 at Pekin Hospital.
Born June 21, 1946 in Pekin to Ernest and Genevieve Breese Edwards, she married Larry Clauson on October 11, 1968 in rural Pekin.
Surviving are her husband; 3 sons, Kevin Edwards and Steven Null, both of Pekin, and Brad Clauson of Green Valley; 1 step-son, Curt Clauson of Pekin; 1 step-daughter, Brenda (Jeff) Johnson of Talbott Addition in Spring Lake; 7 grandchildren; 3 brothers, Larry L. Edwards, Jerry E. Edwards, and Terry E. (Verlie) Edwards, all of Pekin; and 2 sisters, Kathy (Don) Estes of Pekin and Crystal J. (Jim) Rice of Fellsmere, Florida.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and 2 brothers.
Mrs. Clauson owned and operated Veneda’s Snack Shack at Uhlman’s Pumpkin Farm in rural Pekin. Previously, she had worked for Keystone Steel and Wire Company in Bartonville from 1974 to 2000.
She had attended First Assembly of God in Pekin.
She enjoyed collecting dolls.
Cremation will be accorded.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m., Wednesday, February 2, 2005 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin chapel. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to services at the funeral home.
