ELKHART — Dorothy L. Greene, 88, of Elkhart, formerly of Nappanee, died at 5:36 a.m.
Tuesday, March 23, 2010 at her residence.
She is survived by her husband, Ralph Greene; daughter, Kathy (Frank) Weidner of Nappanee;
son, Thomas (Claudine) Greene of Western Springs, Ill.; six grandchildren; eight great grandchildren;
and a sister, Anita (Wendell) Sheets of Bourbon.
Visitation will take place from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 25 and one hour prior to services
Friday at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, 950 N. Main St., Nappanee.
Funeral services will take place at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 26 at the Grace Point Presbyterian
Church, Nappanee.
Burial will follow at Union cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Grace Point Presbyterian Church or the Open Door food pantry.

James D. Murphy
BREMEN — James “Jim” D. Murphy, 67, of Bremen, formerly of Michigan, died Tuesday, March
23, 2010 at his residence.
He is survived by his wife Judy; daughters: Julie (Mark) Molter of Dowagiac, Mich., Tracy (Ryan)
Davis of Granger, Brylee and Ebony Murphy, both of Bremen; a son, Chad Murphy of Bremen;
five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Donna (Dave) Richmond of Kalamazoo.
Visitation will take place from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 26 at the Mishler Funeral Home, 2030
S.R. 331, Bremen.
Funeral services will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 27 at the First Baptist Church,
Bremen.
Burial will follow at Mt. Pleasant cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.

Robert Jay Truex
WAKARUSA — Robert Jay Truex, 88, of Wakarusa, died at 12:45 a.m. Tuesday, March 23,
2010 at Miller’s Merry Manor, Wakarusa.
He is survived by sons: Tye (Roni) Truex of Goshen, Jeff (Robin) Truex of Mishawaka and Rex
Truex of New Carlisle; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a brother, Max
(Mary) Truex of Wakarusa.
Visitation will take place from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 25, at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder
Funeral Home, 501 N. Elkhart St., Wakarusa.
Funeral services will take place at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 26 at the funeral home.
Burial will follow at Union cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Miller’s Merry Manor.

Michael Gene Clark
WALKERTON — Michael Gene Clark, 46, of Walkerton, and more recently of Spartanburg, S.C.
died at 3 p.m. March 24, 2010 in Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.
He is survived by his parents, Randall and Margarette (Lee) Clark of Walkerton; two brothers
and three sisters.
Private graveside services will be held at Woodlawn cemetery, Walkerton.
Nusbaum-Elkin Funeral Home, Walkerton, was entrusted with arrangements.

Wesley Kirkpatrick
PLYMOUTH — Wesley Kirkpatrick, 98, of Plymouth, passed away March 24, 2010 at Miller’s
Merry Manor, Culver, after being in failing health for several years.
He was born Feb. 16, 1912, in Deckerville, Mich. to Earl and Effie (Reid) Kirkpatrick. On October
30, 1948, he married Mabel A. Broeker in Culver.
Wesley proudly served his country during WW II, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant in the Army
Air Force. He and Mabel lived in Deckerville, until October of 1927, when they moved to their
home outside of Plymouth. He retired from General Telephone and Electronics Co. (now
Verizon).
Wesley was affectionately known by family members as Wes, Uncle Wes, Uncle Coach, and
Uncle Pat and was loved by his family and friends for his warm nature and humor. He loved the
outdoors and spent his time riding horses, hunting, golfing, and water skiing.
He taught many of his nieces and nephews to water ski over the years.
Wesley is survived by his wife of 61 years; sisters-in-law, Jane and Annemarie Broeker; a
cousin; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Betty; brothers-in-law: Charles, Clarence, and
Raymond Broeker; and sister-in-law, Helen Broeker Brockman.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. (EDT) Friday, March 26 and one hour before the service
Saturday at the Odom Funeral Home, Culver.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday March 27 at the Odom Funeral Home. Rev.
James Irwin will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Marshall County Hospice or Miller’s Merry Manor
Activity Fund.
The Odom Funeral Home, Culver, is in charge of arrangements.

Carol "Joan" Schmeltz
WALKERTON — Carol “Joan” Schmeltz, 80, died Wednesday, March 24, 2010, in Hospice
House, South Bend.
She is survived by her husband Arthur; sons, Brad (Dawn) Schmeltz and Brian (Terri) Schmeltz,
both of Walkerton; and six grandchildren.
Visitation will take place from 1 to 3 and 5 to 8 p.m. (EDT) Saturday, March 27 at Rannells
Funeral Home, Koontz Lake Chapel.
Funeral services will take place at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 28 at the funeral chapel.
Burial will follow at Woodlawn cemetery, Walkerton.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Walkerton United Methodist Church or The Center
for Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc., 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN, 46637.

Catherine E. Crall
ROCHESTER — Catherine E. Crall, 91, of Rochester, died at 4:30 a.m. Thursday, March 25,
2010 at Life Care Center, Rochester.
She is survived by daughters, Sue (Laddie) Helser of Warsaw and Diane Kay (David) Bieganski
of Cowelsville; a son, Richard (Barbara) Crall of Rochester; a sister, Norma Starr of Rochester;
13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and
nephews.
Visitation will take place at 9 a.m. Monday, March 29 at Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 W.
18th St., Rochester.
Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Burial will follow at Athens Hoover cemetery, Athens.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Life Care Center Activity Fund.

Charles "Cressell" King
KNOX — Charles “Cressell” King, 83, of Knox, died Thursday, March 25, 2010 at Starke
Memorial Hospital.
He is survived by sons: David (Kimberly) King of Almont, Tenn., Bill (Diane) King of Knox and
Jim (Debbie) King of Hamlet; a daughter, Cathy (Robert) Zebrowski of Knox; three
grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren;
and sisters, Myrtle and Virginia.
Visitation will take place from 2 to 8 p.m. (CDT) Sunday, March 28 and one hour prior to services
Monday, at Rannells Funeral Home, Hamlet Chapel.
Funeral services will take place at 1 p.m. Monday, March 29 at the chapel.
Burial will follow at Fletcher cemetery.

Donald E. Morris
SALINA, Kan.— Donald E. Morris, 69, of Selina, Kan. died Thursday, March 25, 2010.
He is survived by his wife Faye; daughter Pam (Greg) Tate of Overland Park, Kan.; a son, Jeff
(Kathy) Morris of Wichita, Kan.; sister, Barb (Larry) Capron, of Bremen, and 10 grandchildren.
Visitation will take place Sunday, March 28 at Ryan Mortuary, 137 n. 8th, Salina, Kan.
Funeral services took place at 11 a.m. Monday, March 29 at Sunrise Presbyterian Church, Kan.
Burial will take place privately at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Sunrise Presbyterian Church, the American Heart
Association, or the Parkinson's Foundation.

Charles D. Ross
SOUTH BEND — Charles D. Ross, 72, of South Bend, passed away at 1:30 p.m. Thursday,
March 25, 2010 as the result of an accident on the family farm, doing what he loved.
He was born Jan. 6, 1938 in North Liberty to Millard and Vera (Winnell) Ross. Oct. 22, 1966 in
South Bend, he married Alice J. (Sarasin) Ross, who survives.
Mr. Ross is also survived by daughter, Mary Beth (Luke) Puckett of Goshen; three grandchildren:
Victoria (Travis Boucek) Puckett, Brandon Puckett and Annalisa Puckett, all of Goshen; four
sisters: Mardell (Kenneth) Gardner of Plymouth, Twillia (Marvin) Gregg of Lakeville, Joan Walsh
of Decatur, Ga. and Judy Hopper of Elkhart; and a brother, Harold (Shirley) Ross of LaPaz.
Mr. Ross was a lifelong area resident. He served honorably in the United States Army National
Guard until 1966. He was a meat manager for Kroger’s for more than 20 years.
He then owned and operated Ross’s Country Market on the corner of Mayflower and 23 and
farmed all of his life.
He was a member of the Community Baptist Church since 1977 where he served as a deacon
and usher. Mr. Ross loved golf, loved to eat at the Hilltop Restaurant in Lakeville, where he ate
breakfast every day but Sunday. He loved to be with his family and had a great sense of humor
— never short on practical jokes.
The family received friends from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, March 28 in the Palmer Funeral Home, 314
S. Michigan St., Lakeville, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday in the church.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 29 in the Community Baptist Church,
5715 S. Miami Road, South Bend. Rev. Steve Stadtmiller and Rev. John Blodgett will officiate.
Burial will follow at Sumption Prairie cemetery, South Bend.
Contributions in memory of Charles D. Ross may be offered to World Help, Vernon Brewer, P.O.
Box 501, Forest, VA. 24551.

Carol A. Walton
ARGOS – Carol A. Walton, 68, of Argos, died at 5:10 p.m. Thursday, March 25, 2010 in the Our
Lady of Peace Acute Care Center, Mishawaka, after an illness.
She is survived by her husband Bruce; her daughter, Frances L. Hylton of Plymouth; two
grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Rosemary Chrzanowski of South Bend.
Graveside services will take place at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 31 at New Oakhill cemetery,
Plymouth.
Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, Plymouth, was entrusted with arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to the funeral home.

Sylvia Graber
NAPPANEE — Sylvia Graber, 84, of Millesrburg, formerly of Nappanee, died at 2:31 a.m. Friday,
March 26, 2010 at Elkhart General Hospital, after a short illness.
She is survived by a son, Loren Ray (Esther Miller) Graber of Nappanee; daughters, Pauline
Faye (William) Miller of Millersburg and Neva Fern (Marvin) Miller of Grove City, Minn.; daughterin-law,
Amanda Graber of Nappanee; son-in-law, Paul Miller of Nappanee; 25 grandchildren; and
27 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will take place from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday, March 27 and from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday,
March 28 at Mt. Tabor Church of God.
Funeral services will take place at 10 a.m. Monday, March 29 at the church.
Burial will follow at Fairview Amish Mennonite Church cemetery, Nappanee.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Fairview Amish Mennonite Missions Fund.
Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, 950 N. Main St. Nappanee was entrusted with
arrangements.

Ruth Mae Keck
BREMEN — Ruth Mae Keck, 88, of Bremen, died Friday, March 26, 2010 at Community
Hospital of Bremen.
She is survived by sons, Larry (Louise) Keck and Rick (Delia) Keck, all of Bremen; and five
grandchildren.
Visitation will take place from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, March 29 at Mishler Funeral Home, 2030 S.R.
331, Bremen.
Funeral services will take place at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 30 at Bremen United Methodist
Church with Rev. Earl Owen officiating. Burial will follow at Bremen cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Community Hospital of Bremen.

Ruth B. MacQuillan
CULVER — Ruth B. MacQuillan, 93, of Culver, died Friday, March 26, 2010 at Miller's Merry
Manor, Culver.
She is survived by a son, Malcolm MacQuillan of South Bend.
Visitation will take place from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 31 and one hour prior to
services Thursday at Odom Funeral Home, 104 Lakeshore Dr., Culver.
Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 1 at Wesley United Methodist Church,
Culver. Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
