Edgar J. DeMunck
Plymouth - Edgar J. DeMunck, 75, of Plymouth, formerly of Mill Creek, passed away at 8:35 a.m.
Tuesday, August 10, 2010 in his home.
He was born July 28, 1935, in Mill Creek to Edgar F. and Anna Marie (Schroeder) DeMunck.
Mr. DeMunck was a entrepreneur and love to keep busy. He was a man of many trades and had
worked as a farmer, upholsterer, landscaper and contractor. He owned New Trends of Northern
Indiana RV Company;E&A service Corp., the maker of "the weed machine, " and Twin Lakes
Sports Masters Sporting Goods store.
He enjoyed yard work, woodworking and was a country and western musician, known as quote
Eddie Diamond." Ed loved playing Santa Claus for the children.
December 21, 1980, in South Bend, he married Anita Sue (McCalment) DeMunch, who survives.
Also surviving are sons, Gary (Wanda) of Michigan city, Larry (Evelyn) of Crown point, John of
Evansville, and Gregory Schoff of Niles, Michigan; daughters, Tracee Vining of Seminole, Florida,
Pattie (Roy) Gragg of South Bend, and Kathleen (Matt) Van Vuskirk of North Carolina; one
sister, , Doris Jean (Gene) Wolff of La Porte; 11 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Preceding Edgar in death for his parents; three sisters: Rosemary Wolfe, and Marie and
Jeanette McMunck; and one grandson, Christopher Gragg.
A funeral will be held at 1 p.m.CDT (2 p.m. EDT) Saturday, August 14 at Lakeview Funeral
Home and Crematory, 247 W. Johnson Rd, La Porte.
Visitation and viewing will be from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.CDT (4 p.m. to 7 p.m. EDT) Friday, August 13,
2010 at Van Gilder funeral home, 300 West Madison, Plymouth; and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.CDT (11
a.m. to 2 p.m. EDT) Saturday at Lakeview Funeral Home and Crematory, 247 West Johnson
Rd., La Porte.
Burial will be in Pine Lake cemetery, La Porte.
Lakeview funeral home and crematory, La Porte is caring for the arrangements.

Wilma Mae Martin
Plymouth - a lifetime resident of Marshall County, will mom made Martin died Tuesday, August
10, 2010 at Miller's Merry Manor in Walkerton.
Wilma Mae, born near Bremen February 16, 1918, was the oldest of seven children born to
Donald Ann Marie Annie Laurie Reese Winrotte.
She graduated from La Paz high school with the class of 1935. Wilma wanted to teach and was
able to attend Marian College in Marion, (now called Indiana Wesleyan University). She
graduated in 1938, with a two year normal school teaching degree and a life license. This was
the last year of the normal degree was awarded.
January 11, 1941, in Tyner, Wilma Mae Winrotte and Walter John Martin were married . Wilma
and John owned a booth at the Farmer's market in South Bend, where they sold an extensive
selection of vegetables. John died December 31, 1995, shortly after they sold the farm.
A schoolteacher in Tyner, Teegarden and then Walkerton elementary, Wilma was known for her
ability to teach children to read. She often had the insight and fortitude to help students who
struggled the most. Parents commented that she gave their son or daughter a good foundation
for their education will this entire teaching career was in the same school corporation, and she
sometimes talk to generations of families.
Through all their adult lives, she was called "Miss Wilma" by some of her early first-graders.
Wilma enjoyed collecting owls which he displayed in the hallways. She had a lovely flower
garden in earlier years. She was good at find-a-word puzzles. Wilma was an average reader,
reading both the Plymouth pilot and the South Bend Tribune and tell her death, and she liked the
semi--love stories. Wilma was compassionate, very considerate, a hard worker and patient, with
a gentle, loving heart.
Wilma is survived by two daughters and a son. They are Cynthia/Cindy L. Martin, Walkerton,
Kathleen/Kathy M. (Hugh) Geren, Clearwater, Fla., and Phillip/Phil J. (Pamela) Martin, Goshen.
She is also survived by four grandchildren; Matthew (Melissa) Geren, Cari Martin, Andrew
(Elizabeth) Martin and Sarah (Jeremy) Dail.
A great grandchild, Hannah Martin, survives and in other great grandchild is due in November. A
brother, Keith Elmer Winrotte, Three Rivers, Mich., and a sister, Juanita Wilkins of Lakeville,
also survive.
Wilma was preceded in death by her husband, John; a grandson, Philip J. Martin Jr.; three
brothers: Victor, Wayne and Duaane Winrotte; and a sister Mary Downing.
Wilma was a devoted member of the Tyner United Methodist Church, the Tyner Rebekah Lodge
and the black bridges club. She held memberships in the Marshall County retired teachers
organization, the Indiana State teachers Association and the Walkerton American Legion
auxiliary.
Friends are invited to share memories and visit with one another at the Johnson-Danielson
funeral home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth, Saturday, August 14 from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. a
Rebekah Lodge service conducted by the Tyner Lodge will be held at 6:30 p.m. Saturday.
Funeral services for Wilma Martin will be held in the Tyner United Methodist Church at 2 p.m.
Sunday, August 15 the Rev. Mike Dixon will officiate.
Memorial gifts and Wilma's name may be made to the Wilma Martin scholarship fund at the
Marshall County community foundation.

Margaret Mary Sherwood
Plymouth - Margaret Mary Sherwood, 68, of Meadow Lane, Plymouth, died of complications from
surgery at 11:11 a.m. Tuesday, August 10, 2010, and the St. Joseph Regional Medical Center,
Mishawaka.
She will be remembered by her family and friends as being one amazing woman. Margaret was
very patient, put others first and was the first to volunteer for any task. She managed all this with
a large smile, and a kind and generous spirit
Born in Mishawaka June 5, 1942, Margaret was the daughter of Paul F. and Helen
G.(Schroeder) Schumacher.
She graduated from St. Joseph high school with the class of 1960, and attended St. Francis
College, Ft. Wayne and Rosary College in Chicago. She obtained her B.S. degree in accounting
from Indiana University - South Bend in 1977.
On September 21, 1963, in St. Jude's Catholic Church, South Bend, Margaret and James H.
Sherwood were married .
In 1963 she worked at the Firestone tire and rubber Co. in Bloomington. A devoted homemaker,
in 1969, she and her husband established the Sherwood tire service and Plymouth. Margaret
continued in her bookkeeping position until 1993.
Her passion was sewing. Give her a needle and she was an expert on anything, having crafted
countless baby blankets, quilts, fine altar cloths and knitted unique sweaters. Her creative and
imaginative crafts and artwork were coveted as very special gifts.
As a dedicated volunteer, working with dry Kappa sorority, she presented and imaginative
program designed to teach fourth-graders in schools across Marshall County about Indiana
history. Known as "the covered wagon lady, " Margaret had touched the lives of over 16, 000
schoolchildren over 26 years of service.
She was a member of St. Michael Roman Catholic Church where she served as a Eucharistic
minister. She was actively involved with Tri Kappa, having served as president, vice president,
treasurer and adviser. At the state level she was very active as well by holding the position of
historian, province officer and fine arts chairperson.
Margaret is survived by her beloved husband Jim, and their four children and six grandchildren.
Son James P. (Cyndy Sherwood of Culver and children Cassie and Tabatha, daughters: Lisa S.
(Mike) day of Plymouth and children Michael and Nathan, a Pamela H. Sherwood of Indianapolis
and children Nico and Kyan and Julie A. (Bobby) Blount of Plymouth. A new pair
Three brothers also survive: Jim (Kathy) Schumacher of Mishawaka, Tim Schumacher of
Lambertville Michigan, Philip (Kandy) Schumacher of Cassopolis Michigan and a sister-in-law
Ginny Schumacher of Mishawaka along with numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Paul E. Schumacher.
Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, August 13, 2010, at the Johnson-Danielson
funeral home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth.
The Rosary will be prayed at 3 p.m. and a Tri Kappa service will be held at 8 p.m. in the funeral
home.
A Mass of Christian burial for Margaret will be held at 9 a.m.EDT on Saturday, August 14 2010,
at St. Michael church 613 N. Center St. Plymouth. The Reverend Father William Kummer will
officiate.
Interment will be in St. Michaels Catholic cemetery, Plymouth.
Memorial gifts and Margaret's memory may be made to St. Michael Parrish or to Tri Kappa
Endowment Fund.

Eileen Persing Shoemaker
Knoxville Tennessee - Eileen Pershing Shumaker, 79, of Knoxville Tennessee passed away
August 10, 2010.
Mrs. Shumaker was born May 4, 1931, to Carl and Louise (Becker) Pershing and was a former
resident of Argos, for many years.
A longtime member of Bearden United Methodist Church, Mrs. Shumaker lived a life of service
to her Lord, her family, her friends, and her community until prolonged illness diminished her
capabilities. Even then, she served many as an example of fortitude and grace.
Mrs. Shumaker is survived by her husband of nearly 60 years, Robert (Bob) Shoemaker; her
daughter and a son in law, Cathy and Ben Clough of Plymouth; her son, Michael Shumaker of
Knoxville; her daughter and son-in-law, Karin and Billy Woodruff of Huntersville, NC; her to
beloved grandchildren, Kaleena and Woody Woodruff, also of Huntersville; step granddaughter
Shawn Rago of Indianapolis; and her sister, Mrs. Robert (Mary Lou) Ludy of Mishawaka.
Services for Mrs. Shumaker will be Friday, August 13 at 2 p.m. at Bearden United Methodist
Church, 4407 Sutherland Avenue, Knoxville. Visitation will take place one hour prior to services.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to St. Mary's Hospice, 7447 Andersonville Pike,
Knoxville, TN, 37938. Highland funeral home of Knoxville is handling arrangements.

Robert Allen
Knox - Robert L. "Bob" Allen, 77, died Wednesday, August 11, 2010 at La Porte Hospital, La Porte.
He is survived by his wife, Orlean; sons:Ordway (Lucy) Allen of Bremen, Sam (Charlotte) Allen of
Star Dity, William (Linda) Spencer, and Robert (Theresa) Spencer, all of Knox; daughters,
Orlean Allen of Fort Wayne and esther (Bub) Hamilton of North Judson, 30 grandchildren; 43
great-grandchildren; three brothers:Sidney Allen of Knox, Frank Allen of North Judson and
Chales Mullins of Knox; and one sister, Wanda Wallen of Knox.
Visitation will take place from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. CDT Sunday, August 15 and Monday from 10 a.m.
until the time of services at Rannels funeral home, Hamlet Chapel. Funeral services will be
Monday, August 16 at 11 a.m.CDT at the funeral home. Burial will follow at the round Lake
cemetery, Knox.

Dennis L. Cramer
Mishawaka - Dennis L. Camer, 54 of Mishawaka, died at 2:23 p.m. Wednesday, August 11,
2010 at his residence.
He is survived by his wife, Marcia; daughters, Emily (Michael) Edison of Plymouth and Sarah
(Nick) Anderson of Oaxaca, Mexico; sons David (Andrea) Cramer of South Bend and Adam
Cramer of South Bend; four grandchildren; his parents, Ross and Marilyn Cramer of Plymouth;
mother-in-law, Marjorie Weiss of South Bend; brothers, Steven (Terri) Cramer of Cassopolis
Michigan, Dale (Tricia) Cramer of Plymouth, and Michael (Cindi) Cramer of Mishawaka; sisters,
Diane (Dennis) Berger of Plymouth and Sharon (Jim) McIntosh of Warsaw; and many nieces
and nephews.
Visitation will take place from 2 to 4 p.m. Friday, August 13 and one hour prior to services
Saturday at Nappanee Mssionary Church Chapel, Nappanee. Funeral services will take place at
10 a.m. Saturday, August 14 at the chapel. Burial will follow at Bremen cemetery. Memorial
contributions may be made to the church or Bethel College.
Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder funeral home assisted the family with arrangements.

Myrtle I. Miller
Mishawaka - Myrtle I. Miller, 96, died Wednesday, August 11 in St. Joseph Regional Medical
Center, Mishawaka.
She is survived by daughters: Sue Ann Miller and Peggy Lou Miller, both of Mishawaka, and
Regina Lee (Arthur) Lewis of Mooresville, North Carolina; two grandchildren; two great granddaughter's;
and two sisters in law, Roberta Musser of Petaluma, California and Dorothy
Schuster of Plymouth.
Visitation will take place from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, August 14 at Hahn funeral home, 505
W. 8th St, Mishawaka. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Entombment will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Osceola Church of the brethren or to the charity of
the donor's choice.

Edgar Bailey
Knox - Edgar Bailey, 88, of Rural Knox, died Friday, August 13, 2010 at Golden Living Center in
Knox.
Edgar was born to Maston Bailey and Eliza Miller Bailey in the Ohio River town of Rabbit Hash,
Boone County, Kentucky August 28, 1921. The Bailey and Miller families were early settlers of
Magoffin and Floyd counties in Kentucky and Edgar was proud of his Kentucky heritage though
he was raised in Indiana.
Edgar married Elsie Watson Bailey September 13, 1941 in Starke County. She survives. They
made their home and raise their family and Starke County and Ober and in rural Knox, and also
live for a short time in Kentucky.
In his younger years, Edgar was an automobile mechanic. And the early 1950s, he learned to
operate heavy construction machinery, eventually becoming an operating engineer. He was a
member of local 150 of the international Union of operating engineers for more than 50 years.
He especially enjoyed running cranes, including the long boom cranes, and was very
knowledgeable about them.
His skillful and safe crane operation earned him the respect of his coworkers. They trusted him
to complete a job safely while protecting those working with him. He worked on construction
projects across Northern Indiana and in Chicago and also at Burns Harbor unloading cargo ships.
Following in the footsteps of his grandfather, John Bailey, Edgar was also a minister of the
Baptist faith for more than 50 years. He was ordained in ancient Christian Association of the
United Baptist Church in Kentucky and later, in the free Will Baptist Church in Indiana. He was
often called upon to minister in area churches and he held offices in his denominations including
clerk and treasurer.
He was well-known in the area for performing weddings and for his ministry of visiting the sick.
He founded several local churches, including the Little Dove Baptist Church in Toto and the Knox
Free Will Baptist Church. He was a member of the Knox free Will Baptist Church.
His family will miss the sound of his voice and the words of his prayers before meals at family
gatherings. His Christian faith is the best inheritance that Edgar has given his family.
Edgar love to travel, especially in an RV. Among his favorite trips was a motorhome journey to
Alaska. He also enjoyed wintering in Florida for many years.
In addition to his wife, Elsie, Edgar is survived by four daughters: Delores J. Rodgers (Dean) of
Knox; Donna K. Runyon (Jack) of New Haven; Shirley A. Van Zanten (Ken) of Jenison, Mich,
and Sandra L. Ellis (Dan) of St. John; one son: Ronald E. Bailey (Patti) of Dallas, Ga.; and 11
grandchildren: David Rodgers, Deborah Rodgers Joseph, Daniel Rodgers, Douglas Runyan,
Jeffrey Runyan, Jennifer Runyan Cassel, Eric Brown, Sawna Brown, Sherry Kimmey
Deslauriers, Steven Kimmey and Erin Bailey Turner; and 24 great-grandchildren. He is also
survived by half brothers and sisters Cecil Donald, Melissa and Ruby.
He was preceded in death by his parents, newborn daughter, Caroline Hsu; brothers: German
and Elmore; sisters: Easter Howard, Applewhite and Elsie Hill; and half brothers: Virgil, Earl,
Forest and Henry Joe.
Visitation will take place from 4 to 8 p.m. (Starke County time) Monday, August 16, and one hour
prior to services Tuesday at Rannels funeral home, Hamlet.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. (Starke County time) Tuesday, August 17 at the funeral
home, with the Reverend James R. Adcock of the Bible Baptist Church in Knox officiating.
Burial will follow at Fletcher cemetery, Hamlet.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association, Greater
Indiana Chapter or American Heart Association, Northern Indiana Chapter.
Rannels funeral home, Hamlet, is in charge of arrangements.
