Louise Johnson
PRINCETON, Ind. — Louise Johnson, 82, died Thursday, Jan. 27, 2000, at Gibson General Hospital.
She attended Lockyear Business College and was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary and Eastern Star.
Surviving are her husband, Roy; a daughter, Margaret Marks of Elkins Park, Pa.; a son, Kenneth of Orange Park, Fla.; a sister, Margaret Young of Rockford, Ill.; and two grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Colvin Funeral Home, with burial in Maple Hill cemetery.

John Thorne
John J. Thorne, 73, formerly of Evansville, died Friday, Jan. 21, 2000, in Punta Gorda Isles, Fla., of leukemia.
He was an executive in sales and marketing in the moving industry for more than 30 years, retiring in the mid-1980s. He was the vice president of Atlas Van Lines in Evansville.
He owned The Sandpiper Restaurant in Noblesville, Fla., retiring in 1995.
He served in the Navy during the atomic testing at Bikini Island in the Pacific and was the recipient of the Victory Medal, American Theater Medal and the Asiatic Pacific Medal.
He was a 1944 graduate of Seton Hall Preparatory School, where he was Amateur Golden Glove Heavy Weight Champion in 1943-44. He was inducted into the Seton Hall Sports Hall of Fame in 1995. He received a degree in management from Seton Hall University in 1950.
He was a member of the Masons and Punta Gorda Peace River Power Squadron.
Surviving are his wife, Nancy; three sons, Jack of LockHaven, Pa., Bill of Fayetteville, Ark., and Brian Alfing of Green Valley, Ariz.; two daughters, Jane Sullivan of Noblesville and Gwen of Indianapolis; six granddaughters, Jade Kali, Sage Brieanne Sullivan, Jessie Yeaman, Sara, Elizabeth and Amanda Alfing.
His first wife, Inez J. (Storer), preceded him in death.
A celebration of life will be held over the Memorial Day weekend in Indianapolis. Forest lawn Crematory in Port Charlotte handled the arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Jack Thorne Memorial Scholarship Fund at Seton Hall Preparatory School.
Genevieve Nieten
Genevieve E. Nieten, 83, of Evansville, died Monday, Jan. 24, 2000, at Woodlands Convalescent Center in Newburgh.
She had been a nurse at St. Mary’s Medical Center for many years.
She was a graduate of St. Mary’s School of Nursing.
She was a member of the ladies’ auxiliaries of St. Mary’s Medical Center and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
She was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Sue Hensley of Chandler, Ind.; a sister, Margaret Rohlfer of Evansville; a brother, John H. Rasico of Holiday, Fla.; four grandchildren, Shannon Long, Debbie Nance, Michael Hensley and Julie Norman; 10 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Her husband, Syl, and a son, Jim, both died in 1992.
Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Friday at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel, continuing at 10 a.m. at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, the Rev. Henry Kuykendall officiating, with entombment in Park Lawn Mausoleum.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with memorial services at 7 p.m.

L. Cova Morris
L. Cova Morris, 77, of Evansville, died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2000, at St. Mary’s Health Care Services/Welborn Campus.
She worked in the Pigeon Township trustee’s office for 20 years and had previously worked in the Knight Township trustee’s office.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church.
Surviving are two daughters, Rebecca Hammond of Evansville and Sandra Bennington of Medina, Ohio; two sons, Jeff Russell of Evansville and Larry Russell of Indianapolis; a brother, Tom Wilkins of Greenville, Ky.; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Her husband, Jim, died in 1982.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Alexander Funeral Home East Chapel, the Rev. Tom Bartley officiating, with burial in Sunset Memorial Park cemetery.

James Moore Jr.
James C. Moore Jr., 56, of Evansville, died Monday Jan. 24, 2000, at his home from complications following open heart surgery.
He worked for Red Spot Paint & Varnish Co. for 15 years and had worked for Hahn Inc. for more than 20 years.
He was a member of the Oakhill Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife of 35 years, Marilyn; a daughter, April L. of Evansville; a son, Jeffery L. of Loogootee, Ind.; his mother, Isabelle Moore of Evansville; and his granddaughter, Allison Moore.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Browning Funeral Home, the Rev. Glen Flowers officiating, with burial in Oak Hill cemetery.

Leora Scheller
Leora C. (Schmitt) Scheller, 74, of rural Evansville, died Monday, Jan. 24, 2000, at her home of cancer.
She was a member of St. Wendel Catholic Church and the Ladies Sodality.
Surviving are two daughters, Carolyn Smith of Wadesville, Ind., and Laverne Fischer of Evansville; three sons, Herman Lee and Oscar, both of Haubstadt, Ind., and John of Evansville; two sisters, Esther Klench of Wadesville, Ind., and Dorothy Seib of Evansville; two brothers, Clarence and Norman Schmitt, both of Wadesville; seven grandchildren, Susie and Larry Scheller, Leanne Phillips, Michele Reker, Sherry Lowe, Julie Craig and Jenna Fischer; and seven great-grandchildren.
Her husband, Freeman, died in 1962.
Services will be at 9:45 a.m. Friday at Pierre Funeral Home, continuing at 10:30 a.m. at St. Wendel Catholic Church, the Rev. David Nunning officiating, with burial in the church cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with a memorial service at 6 p.m.

Deborah Muensterman
Deborah S. “Debbie” Muensterman, 45, of Evansville, died Monday, Jan. 24, 2000, at St. Mary’s Medical Center of congestive heart failure.
She had worked at the Pine Haven Nursing Home for 22 years.
She was a member of the St. Boniface Catholic Church.
Surviving are her parents, Barbara and Jim Muensterman of Evansville; three sisters, Rita Skelton and Janet Trautvetter, both of Evansville, and Ruth Muller of Mount Vernon, Ind.; a brother, Larry of Evansville; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Ziemer Funeral Home West Chapel, continuing at 10:30 a.m. at St. Boniface Catholic Church, with burial in St. Joseph cemetery.

Richard Stute
Richard “Dick” Stute, 77, of Evansville, died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2000, at Columbia Healthcare Center of liver disease.
He retired in 1991 from White Consolidated.
Surviving are his wife of 29 years, Anna Jane; two daughters, Bonnie Koester of Folsomville, Ind., and Debbie Wahl of Melbourne, Fla.; a stepdaughter, Jennifer Klamer of Evansville; two stepsons, Steve and Wayne Kincaid, both of Evansville; a sister, Betty Ripplemeier of Evansville; a brother, Art of Evansville; four grandchildren; four step grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.
Services will be at 9 a.m. Friday at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel, the Rev. Joseph Ziliak officiating, with burial in St. Joseph cemetery.

Joseph Filllingim
Joseph E. Fillingim, 78, of Evansville, formerly of Owensville, died Monday, Jan. 24, 2000, at his home of cancer.
He retired after 38 years as the owner of Joe’s Red & White Store in Owensville and then worked part-time at Holder Funeral Home.
He was a graduate of Southern Illinois University at Carbondale.
He was an Army veteran and a member of the American Legion Post 51 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2714.
He was a member of the Old North United Methodist Church in Evansville and was past choir director of the Owensville United Methodist Church.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Hadi Shrine and Eastern Star and Scottish Rite, where he received the Meritorious Service Award.
He was an active vocal soloist and belonged to the Phi Mu Alpha Music Fraternity.
Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Dorothy (Smith); a daughter, Lisa McCarty of Evansville; two sons, Brian of Vincennes and Kim of Evansville; and four grandchildren.
A daughter, Carla, preceded him in death.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Old North United Methodist Church in Evansville, the Rev. Gary Schaar officiating, with burial in Sunset Memorial Park cemetery, with military rites.
Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. today at Holder Funeral Home in Owensville, with a Masonic service at 7 p.m., and from 10 a.m. to service time at the church.
