Gloria Schelb
Gloria M. Schelb, 76, of Evansville, died Thursday, June 15, 2000, at her home of emphysema.
She was a foster parent for many years.
Surviving are two daughters, Angela Shelley of Jackson, Miss., and Jennifer Schelb of Evansville; four sons, Ed Guthrie of Atlanta, Michael Schelb of Princeton, Ky., David Schelb of Henderson, Ky., and Bryan Schelb of Evansville; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Her husband, Michael F., died in 1992.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. today in Park Lawn cemetery, the Rev. Joseph Ziliak officiating.
Friends may call from 10 a.m.to noon today at Alexander Funeral Home East Chapel.
Irma Halbig
Irma Halbig, 86, of Evansville, died Friday, June 16, 2000, at St. Mary’s Health Care Services/Welborn Campus.
She retired from Whirlpool Corp. as an executive secretary.
She was a member of St. Benedict Cathedral, St. Ann’s Altar Society and Little Sisters of the Poor Auxiliary.
Surviving are three sisters, Mildred Grave Chesterson of Indianapolis, Martha Pfister of LaPorte, Ind., and Alberta Schilling of Evansville; and a niece and nephews.
Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday, June 19, 2000, at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel, continuing at 10 a.m. at St. Benedict Cathedral, the Rev. Harold Hammerstein officiating, with burial in St. Peter and Paul cemetery in Haubstadt.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with a memorial service at 7 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to Little Sisters of the Poor.
Misty Myers
Misty F. Myers, 22, of Evansville, died Friday, June 16, 2000, in a automobile accident at Linwood and Taylor in Evansville.
She was self-employed and a 1997 graduate of Bosse High School.
Surviving are her mother and stepfather, Cheryl Myers-Craddock and Jerry Craddock of Evansville; her father, Mike G. Kalinowski of Evansville; two brothers, Anthony Huffman of Evansville and Michael Kalinowski of Madison, Ind.; and grandparents, Faye Miles and Marvin and Marge Kalinowski.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Boone Funeral Home Downtown Chapel, the Rev. Darrick Hayden officiating, with burial in Alexander Memorial Park.

Alex Kovacs
Alex S. Kovacs, 67, formerly of Evansville, died Sunday, June 11, 2000, in Lorain, Ohio, of pneumonia.
He worked as a lineman for Cleveland Electric Illuminating Co. for 39 years.
He was an oil and watercolor artist, studied with Fred Leach of the American Greeting Co. and was commissioned to do limited work of Kelly Island.
He was a world judge of guppies and made radio appearances on WGAR as Willie Nelson.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Jane (Wright); five sons, Edgar Jones of Wapakoneta, Ohio, Eric Jones of North Ridgeville, Ohio, James Jones of Houston, Ohio, John Parker Jones of Columbus, Ohio, and Mark Kovacs of Aurora, Ohio; a sister, Ruth Curtis of Brook Park, Ohio; 12 grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 24, 2000, at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lorain, Ohio.
Memorial contributions may be made to the church music fund.
Gary Houchins
BOONVILLE — Gary Houchins, 61, died Thursday, June 15, 2000, at his home of cancer.
He worked at Alcoa Warrick Operations.
He was a member of Southern Friendship General Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Rosella (Warren); two sons, Tracy of Winslow and Brian of Summerville; a stepson, Jerry Alan McCoy of Jacksonville, Fla.; two sisters, Angelyn Hyde of Summerville and Shirley Stafford of Monroe City; and six grandchildren.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday at Harris Funeral Home in Petersburg, with burial in Walnut Hills cemetery in Petersburg.
Friends may call form 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 8 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.
Laura Garbers
FORT BRANCH — Laura H. Garbers, 90, died Friday, June 16, 2000, at General Hospital in Princeton.
She was a member of St. Lucas United Church of Christ and the ladies guild.
Surviving are two sons, Michael of Vincennes and Robert of Fort Branch; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Her husband, Raymond, died in 1994.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Stodghill Funeral Home, with burial in St. Lucas cemetery.

Clarence Polk
CANNELTON — Clarence Polk, 95, died Friday, June 16, 2000, at Perry County Memorial Hospital.
He had worked at William Tell Woodcrafters and the Yellow Cab Co. in Tell City. He retired from the Cannelton Sewer Pipe Co. in 1966 after more than 20 years as a truck driver and had worked at Faultless Caster in Evansville in the 1940s.
Surviving are two daughters, Mary Elizabeth Oehser of Franklin, N.C., and Linda Day Pannett of Jacksonville, Fla.; a stepson, Ed Winn, of Santa Claus; six grandchildren, John Paul Oehser, Wesley Pannett, Glenn Winn, Kathy Harrison, Fred Polk and Tony Ashby; six great-grandchildren; and a daughter-in-law who cared for him, Dorothy Winn of Santa Claus.
His wife of 25 years, Mattie (Rhodes) Winn, died in 1963 and a stepdaughter, Ava Kathrine Winn Graves Polk and a stepson, Emmett Winn, preceded him in death.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at Huber Funeral Home in Cannelton, with burial in Lamb cemetery in Tobinsport.

Betty Pruitt
BRUCEVILLE — Betty Mae Pruitt, 78, died Saturday, June 3, 2000, in Fort Worth, Texas.
She was a grill cook.
Surviving are two daughters, Lola Brand of Vincennes and Linda Ringle of Fort Worth; a sister, Mary Hulen of California; two brothers, Vernon Tapley of Texas, and William Hulen of Pensacola, Fla.; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was a member of Algiers United Methodist Church.
Surviving are a sister, Rosalie J. McGregor of Evansville; and nieces and nephews.
Her husband, Clement, died in 1974.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Harris Funeral Home in Petersburg, with burial in Walnut Hills cemetery in Petersburg.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday and from 8 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the church or Visiting Nurse Association Hospice in Evansville.
Helen Marshall
Helen Frances Marshall, 67, of Evansville, died Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2000, at Deaconess Hospital of complications following a heart attack.
She resided in a CASW/Normal Life Group Home since 1983 and attended Evansville Association for Retarded Citizens for the past seven years.
She was a member of the Washington Avenue Baptist Church.
Surviving are two sisters, Beulah Saunders and Ida May Marshall.
Services will be at noon today at Alexander Funeral Home North Chapel, the Rev. Garry Lanham officiating, with burial in Alexander Memorial Park.

Christopher Wolk
Christopher Brian Wolk, 26, of New York City formerly of Evansville, died Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2000, in Great Falls, Mont., of injuries resulting from a swimming accident at Glacier National Park, where he was working as a summer tour guide.
He was an actor and had appeared in several television commercials and off-Broadway shows, including “Poor Fellas” and “Zona, The Ghost of Greenbriar.”
He was a member of Actors Equity and a founding member of the band Handsome Pony.
He was a 1992 graduate of Memorial High School and 1995 graduate of Marquette University.
He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Evansville.
Surviving are his parents, Mary and John P. Wolk of Evansville; two sisters, Lisa Wolk of Evansville and Laura Wolk of St. Paul, Minn.; a brother, John Paul Jr. of Evansville; grandparents, Albert and Patricia Wolk; and his fiancee, Gayle Bailey of Astoria, N.Y.
Services will be 10 a.m Saturday at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, the Revs. Raymond Kuper, John Breidenbach and William Deering officiating, with burial in St. Joseph cemetery in Evansville.
Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday at the church, with a memorial service at 7:30 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to an environmental cause.
