Nellie Hatfield
Nellie C. Hatfield, 94, 3155E-900N, Roanoke, died at 9:05 a.m. Tuesday (Jan. 27, 1998) at University Park Nursing Home in Fort Wayne.
Mrs. Hatfield was a homemaker, a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Roanoke and a member of the Rosary Sodality at St. Joseph Catholic Church.
She was born Dec. 22, 1903 in Fort Wayne to James and Elizabeth Henderson Landrigan. She married Paul J. Hatfield in Roanoke on June 26, 1926. He died April 2, 1997.
Survivors include two sons, Bernard F. Hatfield and Dennis J. Hatfield, both of Fort Wayne; two daughters, Mrs. Harry (Doris) Philpot, Paulding, Ohio, and Mrs. Gary (Jean) Robison, Fort Wayne; 30 grandchildren and 57 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Herbert P. Hatfield; two grandchildren; three brothers; and a sister.
Calling is from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Friday and from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral service Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 641 N. Main St., Roanoke. Father Phil Widmann will officiate at the service.
A Rosary service will be held at 4 p.m. Friday at Roanoke Memorial Chapel, 240 Crestwood Dr., Roanoke.
Preferred memorials are to St. Joseph Catholic Church Building Fund.
Nina P. Scheer
Nina P. Scheer, 96, a resident of Norwood Nursing Center, died at 12:50 a.m. Tuesday (Jan. 27, 1998) at the home. She had formerly lived on Arthur Street and at the LaFontaine Apartments.
Mrs. Scheer was employed at the Huntington Post Office for 30 years. She was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, SS. Peter and Paul Rosary Sodality, the Third Order of St. Francis and the Huntington Legion Auxiliary.
She was born April 20, 1901 in Whitley County to Bert and Mary Souder Geiger. She married Paul Scheer in Huntington on April 20, 1921. He died Dec. 13, 1936.
Survivors include a son, Thomas N. Scheer, Huntington; two daughters, Mrs. Helen Cassaday, Huntington, and Mrs. Joe (Phyllis) Yaste, Fort Wayne; 15 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Virgil Geiger, and a sister, Alice Cassaday.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Deal-Robbins & Van Gilder Funeral Home, Huntington Chapel, with Rosary at 7 p.m.
Calling will also be held from 9 until the 10 a.m. funeral service Friday at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Father Ron Reider will officiate at the service.
Burial will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
Preferred memorials are to SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church.
Amy M. Kline
Amy Mariah Kline, 81, a resident of Extendacare Nursing Home since 1978, died at 10:15 a.m. Monday (Jan. 26, 1998) at the home. She was a former resident of Wabash.
Miss Kline was a member of the Wabash Church of the Brethren.
She was born June 26, 1916 in Summitville to Esta A. and Clara Donaker Kline.
Survivors include a brother, Albert Kline, Wabash; and a sister, Ester Hoffman, Kirkland, Wash.
Calling will be from 11 a.m. until the 1 p.m. funeral service Friday at Wabash Church of the Brethren, 645 Bond St., Wabash, with Rev. Phil Riemen and Rev. Louise Riemen officiating.
Burial will be at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, North Manchester.
Preferred memorials are to the Wabash Church of the Brethren.

Gail A. Bowersock
Gail A. Bowersock, 85, Fort Wayne, died at 7:50 a.m. Monday, (Jan. 26, 1998) at Riverbend Health Care Center in Fort Wayne.
Mr. Bowersock worked for Southwest Allen County Schools for 40 years as a bus driver and custodian. He retired in 1977.
He was born Sept. 17, 1912 in Allen County to Charles Ray and Ada Voltz. He married the former Donnabelle Bolinger in Roanoke in 1939. She survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Linda Harmon, Ossian, and Vickie Campbell, North Webster; two sons, Gary Bowersock, Zanesville, and Jay Bowersock, Fort Wayne; four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, three stepgrandchildren, six stepgreat-grandchildren and five stepgreat-great-grandchildren.
Calling is from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Elzey and Haggard Funeral Home, 6810 Old Trail Rd., Fort Wayne, where services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday with Rev. Harold Klinker officiating.
Burial will be at Hoverstock Cemetery, Zanesville.

Tressia Mae Crist Butcher
Tressia Mae Crist Butcher, 88, a resident of Peabody Retirement Community in North Manchester, died at 1:20 a.m. Monday (Jan. 26, 1998) at Peabody Healthcare Center, North Manchester.
Mrs. Butcher was a homemaker and a member of the Bachelor Creek Church of Christ, Wabash.
She was born March 3, 1909 in Huntington County to John and Alice Bolinger France. Her first marriage was to John Marshall Crist Sr. on Feb. 12, 1927. He died Nov. 5, 1969. Her second marriage was to John C. Butcher on Jan. 27, 1973. He died April 29, 1978.
Survivors include a daughter, Martha Fisher, Clearwater, Fla.; three sons, John Crist, Roann, Clifford Crist, North Manchester, and James Crist, Silver Lake; a stepdaughter, Charlotte Hoff, Whitee, Wis.; four stepsons, Fred Butcher, Rochester, Bob Butcher and Ronnie Butcher, both of Denver, Ind., and David Butcher, Peru; eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and several stepgrandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two grandchildren, two stepdaughters, a sister and a brother.
Calling is from 2-8 p.m. Wednesday at Grandstaff-Hentgen, Roann Chapel, 335 S. Chippewa, Roann, where services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday with Rev. Robert Schmeiser officiating.
Burial will be at the Roann Community Cemetery, Roann.
Preferred memorials are to the Bachelor Creek Church of Christ.
Adrian B. Vebert
Adrian B. Vebert, 76, 4308S-300E, Warren, died at 11:55 a.m. Friday (Jan. 23, 1998) at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne.
Mr. Vebert retired in 1983 from American Hoist, Fort Wayne, after 20 years of service. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Yoder.
He was born March 13, 1921, in Starke County, to Jacob and Ada Korner Vebert. He first married Edith Lorene Rutenberg on Dec. 22, 1945, in Yoder. She died on July 12, 1995. His second marriage was on July 24, 1996, in Middleton, to Emmaline Crook. She survives.
No other immediate relatives survive.
Calling is from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday at Bailey-Love Mortuary. Graveside services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at St. Aloysius Catholic Cemetery, Yoder.

Earl Gayle Landrum
Earl Gayle Landrum, 79, 5304N Old Fort Wayne Rd., died at 12:25 p.m. Friday (Jan. 23, 1998) at his home.
Mr. Landrum was a lifelong Union Township farmer and was a 1936 graduate of Union Township High School. He was a member of the Zion United Methodist Church.
He was born on Sept. 25, 1918, in Wabash County, to Gilbert Earl and Angie Marsh Landrum. On Jan. 26, 1941, in Huntington, he married Lois V. Paul. She survives.
Other survivors include three sons, Jerry L. Landrum, Jack P. Landrum and James R. Landrum, all of Huntington; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Landrum; a brother, John Landrum; and a sister, Opal Wohlford.
Calling is from 2-8 p.m. Monday at Myers Funeral Home, Huntington Chapel, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, with Rev. Steve Fritchman officiating.
Burial will be at the Zion Cemetery, Huntington County.

Randol A. Wolfcale
Randol A. Wolfcale, 66, Santa Maria, Calif., died Monday (Jan. 5, 1998) at his home. He was a former resident of Markle.
Mr. Wolfcale retired from the Air Force in 1974 after 20 years of service.
He was born Aug. 7, 1931, in Markle to Irvin I. and Roxie B. Randol Wolfcale. He graduated from Markle High School in 1949. He married Gillian Barham, who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Shaughn Wolfcale, Santa Maria, and Kevin Wolfcale, Los Alamos, Calif.; a daughter, Kari Nunes, Santa Maria; five grandchildren; a brother, Irvin J. Wolfcale, Nashville, Ind.; and a sister, Janice Spahr, Markle.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Wayne Wolfcale.
A memorial service was held Friday, Jan. 9 in the chapel of Dudley-Hoffman Mortuary, Santa Maria, with Rev. Howard Leverett officiating. military rites were by retired Air Force Master Sgt. Warren Addison.
Cremation was held and internment was at the Memory Gardens of Dudley-Hoffman Columbarium, Santa Maria.
