William H. Vebert
William H. Vebert, 47, 641 Byron St., died at 12:30 p.m. Sunday (July 30, 2000) at Parkview Hospital.
Mr. Vebert worked as a cook at Richards Restaurant in Huntington.
He was born Dec. 20, 1952, in Fort Wayne to Julian H. and Myrna Thorn Vebert. His mother survives and lives in Huntington.
Also surviving are four sons, Billy Vebert Jr. of Columbus, Ohio, Chris Vebert of Westville, Michael Vebert of Fort Wayne, and John Henry Vebert of Tennessee; a daughter, Tracey Carter of Fort Wayne; two sisters, Donna Zehender and Rose Garman, both of Huntington; four brothers, Robert Smith and Julian Vebert Jr., both of Huntington, Ronald Vebert of Zanesville, and Bernard Vebert of Fort Wayne; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father and a brother, Bobby Vebert.
Calling will be held from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral service Thursday at the Myers Funeral Home, Huntington Chapel, 2901 Guilford St. Rev. Raymond Stamper will officiate.
Burial will be at the Hillcrest Cemetery.

Georgia L. Crawford
Georgia L. Crawford, 89, a resident of Cleveland Township, Whitley County, died at 12:43 a.m. Saturday (July 29, 2000) at Whitley Memorial Hospital, Columbia City.
Mrs. Crawford was a member of the South Whitley United Methodist Church and the women’s organizations of the church. She grew up in Huntington County and graduated from Union Township High School. She had also lived in Logansport and Garrett.
She was born Aug. 10, 1910, in Oklahoma, a daughter of William A. and Cora Goble Smith. She married Dale E. Crawford Oct. 5, 1929; her husband survives.
Additional survivors include a son, D. Eugene Crawford, Bradenton, Fla.; two daughters, Mrs. Theron (Gergene) Swank of Kansas City, Mo., and Mrs. Richard (Corine) Austin of Fort Wayne; nine grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and several stepgreat-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two infant children, Jane and James; a brother, John Smith; three sisters, Lavetta Funderburg, Mary Brumbaugh, and Ollie Mauger; and a granddaughter.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday at Smith and Sons Miller Chapel, 207 N. Main St., Columbia City, where services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will be at Star of Hope Cemetery, Huntington County.
Memorial contributions may be made to the South Whitley United Methodist Church.
Freeman Lacroix
Freeman Lacroix, 64, 728 E. Market St., died at 3:09 p.m. Friday (July 28, 2000) at his home.
Mr. Lacroix was a retired truck driver and had been employed by the Challenger Trucking Co. in Ohio, for 40 years. He served in the Army and was a member of the Church of God.
He was born Aug. 2, 1935, in Oxford, Mich., to Walter Freeman and Mildred Rice Lacroix. He married Lora Post Nov. 23, 1979, in Huntington. His wife survives.
Also surviving are seven sons, Freeman Lacroix II, Jerry Lacroix and Tony Lacroix, all of Huntington, Jeff Lacroix and Kenny Lacroix, both of Michigan, Freeman Lacroix Jr., Liberal, Kansas, and Terry Lacroix, Montpelier; a daughter, Melody Lacroix, Michigan; six sisters, Ann Childers, Clara Springle, Ina Travers, Marjorie Lynn, Robin Glover and May Lacroix, all of Michigan; a brother, Larry Lacroix, Michigan; and one grandchild.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Fred Lacroix and Walter Lacroix Jr., and a sister, Elizabeth Judd.
Calling will be held from 10 a.m. until the noon funeral service Tuesday at the Hart Funeral Home. Dr. Raymond Waldfogel will officiate. Burial will be at the Pilgrims Rest Cemetery.

Dorothie M. Morgan
Dorothie M. Morgan, 75, Fort Wayne, died at 1:56 p.m. Saturday (July 29, 2000) at Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne.
Miss Morgan, a former resident of the Warren area, had worked for Birkmeier and Son Monument Co., Fort Wayne. She was a 1944 graduate of Warren High School.
She was born April 27, 1925 in Jefferson County, a daughter of Griffith Morgan and Mary R. Tetrick Morgan. Her father survives in Warren.
Additional survivors include a sister, Doris J. Morgan, Marion; a brother, James E. Morgan, Kokomo; and a stepbrother, Gene Rumple, Cape Coral, Fla.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Norman Morgan, and a stepsister, Carol Chaney.
Calling is 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Glancy Funeral Homes, H. Brown and Son Chapel, Warren, where services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday. Rev. Keith Bateman will officiate. Burial will be at the Woodlawn Cemetery, Warren.

Jack Stewart
Jack Stewart, 68, Delta Junction, Alaska, died Monday (July 24, 2000) at his home.
Mr. Stewart was a former resident of Rock Creek Township and Huntington. He had been employed at Dana in Fort Wayne before moving to Alaska in 1964. He served in the U.S. Air Force and had been stationed at Ladd Air Force Base in Alaska.
Mr. Stewart was born June 26, 1932, in Murfreesboro, Ark., to Henry and Mattie Stewart. He married Mary Louise Dolby Oct. 21, 1955, at the Pleasant Grove Evangelical United Brethren Church. His wife survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Raymond Stewart and Elvin Stewart, both of Delta Junction, Alaska, and David Stewart, Fairbanks, Alaska; five daughters, Cheryl Jacamon, Gladewater, Texas, and Glinda Stewart, Joyce Stewart, Sonya Shook, and Kim Kelsch, all of Fairbanks, Alaska; 14 grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; a brother, Jerry Stewart, Gladewater, Texas; and two sisters, Margaret Mitcham, Gladewater, Texas, and Alice Fay Webb, Bluffton.
A brother, Bobby Joe Stewart, and a sister, Doris Hedrick, preceded him in death.
Burial was near Delta Junction, Alaska.
Harold M. Caywood
Harold M. Caywood, 89, Fort Wayne, a former resident of Roanoke, died at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday (July 27, 2000) at his home
Mr. Caywood was a retired insurance agent and was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Roanoke.
Mr. Caywood was born Aug. 11, 1911, in Oblong, Ill., to Charles Caywood and Florence Mumford Caywood. He married Marzetta M. Kalt Oct. 18, 1950, in Decatur. His wife died July 28, 1994.
Survivors include six sons, Ray Cramer, Cortland, Ohio, Jim Cramer, Fort Wayne, John Cramer, Avon Park, Fla., Woodie Caywood, Fort Wayne, Joe Cramer, Defiance, Ohio, and Mike Cramer, Fort Wayne; 10 daughters, Mary White, Fort Wayne, Helen Bechtel, Fort Wayne, Sister Mary Timothy Caywood, Hammond, Donna Schroeder, Columbia City, Willie Caywood, Fort Wayne, Pam Allmandinger, Roanoke, Judy Cramer, Roanoke, Mickey Treesh, Charleston, S.C., Annie Gibson, Fort Wayne, and Patty Schreiber, Roanoke; 34 grandchildren; 62 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Virginia Dale Wagahoft, Phoenix, Ariz.; and three brothers, Jim Caywood, Oblong, Ill., Keith Caywood, Belvidere, Ill., and Herb Caywood, Prescott, Ariz. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Judy Caywood; a son, Harold Caywood Jr.; two sisters, Lucille Wilson and Roberta Rich; and three brothers, Paul Caywood, Joe David Caywood, and Clinton Caywood.
Calling will be from noon to 4:30 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Roanoke Memorial Chapel. A Christian wake service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Roanoke, with Father Kenneth Sarrazine officiating. Burial will be at the St. Joseph Cemetery, Roanoke.
Preferred memorials are to St. Joseph's Catholic Church.
The letter announcing the closing was dated July 25 and was signed by Darrell Martin, area executive for National City. The company has banks in Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Michigan.
Addie M. Frederick
Addie M. Frederick, 87, 4539E Station Rd., Roanoke, died at 2:30 p.m. Thursday (July 27, 2000) at her home.
Mrs. Frederick worked for 10 years at Fisher Engineering, Huntington, retiring in 1976. She attended the Union Church.
She was born on Jan. 9, 1913, in Huntington, to Carrie and Effie Simons Bowman. She married Walter E. Frederick, in Huntington. He preceded her in death in February 1981.
Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. John (Betty) Gay, Fort Wayne; Mrs. Richard (Bonnie) Burnworth, Huntington; and Jacqualine Fisher, Roanoke; a son, Walter E. Frederick, Roanoke; a stepdaughter, Barbara Hale; three sisters, Clarabelle Fisher, Huntington; Mrs. Donald (Sylvia) Chapin, Huntington; and Mrs. Dale (Marietta) Hoffman, Huntington; 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband, Walter, she was preceded in death by eight brothers, Nick Bowman, Harry Bowman, George, Bowman, Earl Bowman, Carrie Bowman, Ceryl Bowman, Frank Bowman and Rollo Bowman; and a sister, Mable Chapin.
There is no calling.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Lancaster Cemetery, Huntington County. Pastor Frank Whitaker will officiate at the services.
Preferred memorials are to the donor's choice.
Myers Funeral Home, Huntington Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
Pauline A. Tumbleson
Pauline A. Tumbleson, 89, Markle, died at 5:20 a.m. Friday (July 28, 2000) at the Markle Health Care, Markle, where she was a resident.
Mrs. Tumbleson had worked at Precision Fittings, Andrews. She was a member of the Markle Church of Christ.
She was born on Sept. 3, 1911, in Huntington County, to Robert and Maude Nolan Johnson. On June 30, 1932, in Huntington, she married Carl H. Tumbleson. He died on March 23, 1962.
Survivors include a son, Gene E. Tumbleson, Huntington; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Precedinc in death are three sisters, Bernice Smith, Merle Franks and Lelia Johnson; and two brothers, Kenneth Johnson and Earl Johnson.
Calling will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Bailey-Love Mortuary, where funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday. Gerald O. Moreland will officiate at the service.
Burial will be at the Star of Hope Cemetery, Huntington.
