Roy ‘Buddy’ Green Jr.
Roy “Buddy” Green Jr., 61, 175 Chestnut St., Andrews, died at 6:25 p.m. Sunday (July 2, 2000) at Wells Community Hospital, Bluffton.
Mr. Green worked for Kunkle Foundry, Andrews, from 1977 to 1997. He was a member of the Salamonie Avenue Freewill Baptist Church, and Local Union No. 6065, Andrews.
He was born March 8, 1939 in Vicco, Ky., to Roy and Mattie Hornsby Green. His marriage was Dec. 24, 1958 in Jeff, Ky., to Gearldine Johnson Green. She survives.
Also surviving are five sons, Ora Lee Green, Huntington, James Earl Green and Jeff David Green, both of Warren, Roy Wayne Green, Warsaw, and Arnold Anthony Green, Andrews; two daughters, Mrs. Steve (Lisa) Riecke, Huntington, and Mrs. Thomas (Patricia) Garrison, Mt. Etna; three brothers, Ronnie Green, Jimmy Ray Green, and Ralph Gary Green, all of Austin, Texas; six sisters, Mrs. Alvin (Shirley Ann) Blakenship, Lonnie Bowling and Mrs. Wayne (Brenda) Stedam, all of Austin, Mrs. Junior (Martha) Beggle, Hamilton, Ohio, Mrs. James Earl (Jeanette) Huffman, Telhoma, Tenn.; and Mrs. Earl (Betty) Cuddy, Hazzard, Ky.; and 20 grandchildren.
Five sisters, Willa Mae Bowling, Hazel Bowling, Nannie Lou Barnett, June Green and Leoda Tincher, preceded in death.
Calling hours are from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Salamonie Freewill Baptist Church, 1805 Salamonie Ave., and one hour prior to services at 10 a.m. Thursday at the church. Steve Kohler will officiate. Burial will be in Lancaster Cemetery.

Audrey L. Hochstetler
Audrey L. Hochstetler, 89, a resident of the United Methodist Memorial Home in Warren, died there at 7:09 p.m. Saturday (July 1, 2000).
Miss Hochstetler was a former resident of College Avenue. She had been a teacher of English and music for 36 years, employed by the Portage Township Schools in South Bend and the Fort Wayne Community Schools. She was a volunteer for the Emily Flinn Home, Marion, and was a 10-year volunteer at Huntington Memorial Hospital. She was a member of Central Christian Church, and was a 1928 graduate of Huntington High School and a 1932 graduate of Ball State University.
Miss Hochstetler was born Oct. 7, 1910, in Huntington, to Martin A. Hochstetler and Matie Viola Myers Hochstetler. She was also raised by her stepmother, Edythe Hochstetler.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews, including Ron Hochstetler, Huntington, Jim Hochstetler, Huntington, and Martin Hochstetler, Fort Wayne. A sister, Thelma Fry, and three brothers, Nevin Hochstetler, Edwin Hochstetler, and Rollas Hochstetler, preceded her in death.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Central Christian Church, 500 MacGahan St., with Rev. Cameron Douglas officiating. Burial will be at the South Union Cemetery, Nappanee. Calling will be at the church at the time of services.

Helen L. Wheeler
Helen L. Wheeler, 80, 1062 First St., died at 10:55 a.m. Monday (June 26, 2000) at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne.
Mrs. Wheeler, a lifelong resident of Huntington, graduated from Huntington High School in 1938. She was a member of St. Peter’s First United Church of Christ and the church’s Loyal Partner Sunday school class.
She was born Aug. 21, 1919 in Huntington, a daughter of George and Etta L. Merriman Heitz. She married C. Meredith Wheeler June 2, 1940, in Huntington. He survives.
Additional survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Greg (Rita) Faber, Atlanta, Ga., and Mrs. Jeff (Cheryl) Spickelmier, Pierceton; and four grandchildren.
Calling is from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at the Bailey-Love Mortuary, where services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday with Rev. Raymond Scribner officiating.
Burial will be at St. Peter’s First United Church of Christ Cemetery.

Ruth E. Long
Ruth E. Long, 79, 801 Huntington Ave., Warren, died Tuesday (June 27, 2000) at the United Methodist Memorial Home in Warren.
Mrs. Long was a homemaker and former employee of General Electric in Fort Wayne. She was a lifelong resident of Huntington County and member of Wesleyan Church, Warren.
She was born on Dec. 7, 1920 in Huntington to Boston and Cleo Dinius LaVine. Her marriage was May 15, 1948, in Huntington, to Wilbur A. Long. He died on July 9, 1982.
Survivors include five daughters, Jean Long, North Manchester, and Roxanna Surfus, Glenna Long, Susan Long and Tina Marie Long, all of Warren; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, six sisters, and two daughters, Marcia and Salley Long.
Calling is from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Glancy Funeral Homes, H. Brown & Son Chapel, where services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. with Rev. Bill Barlow officiating.
Burial will be at Jones Cemetery, Warren.
Preferred memorials are to Wesleyan Church, 219 E. 6th St, Warren.
David R. Brubaker
David R. Brubaker, 88, 1503 Avon Place, died at 10:20 p.m. Sunday (June 25, 2000) at Huntington Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Brubaker, who moved to Huntington in 1998 from Fort Wayne, was retired from Fruehauf Trailer Co. where he had worked 35 years. He was a member of the Wabash Primitive Baptist Church, American Legion Post 7 in Huntington, the American Association of Retired Persons and Indiana Sheriff’s Association. He had served with the Army in World War II.
He was born Dec. 16, 1911, in Otterville, Mo., to Elmer James and Emma Gertrude Cordry Brubaker. His first marriage was in August, 1940 in Huntington County to the former Ruth Leash Sale. She died Aug. 21, 1968. On Dec. 21, 1975 in Huntington County he married the former Pearl Lovellette Listenberger, who survives.
Survivors also include two stepsons, Robert Sale, Huntington, and Roger Listenberger, Decatur, Ill.; two stepdaughters, Maxine Wiley, Huntington and Gelaine Smock, Indianapolis; a brother, Vincil L. Brubaker, Honolulu; 11 stepgrandchildren and 12 step great-grandchildren.
Three brothers, Wilbur, Joseph and Eldon Brubaker; and a sister, Louise Bledsoe, preceded him in death.
Calling is from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Bailey-Love Mortuary and one hour before the 10 a.m. Thursday service at Wabash Primitive Baptist Church, 340S-200E. Elders Tom Pitney and Tom Sarber will officiate at the service.
Burial will be at Star of Hope Cemetery
with military graveside services conducted by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2689.

Troas N. Carman
Graveside services were held Saturday for Troas N. Carman, 85, Owensboro, Ky., who died Thursday (June 22, 2000) at her home.
Mrs. Carman was a native of Barren County, Ky. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Owensboro.
Survivors include her husband, Harold Carman, Owensboro, a stepdaughter, Betty Price, Owensboro; three stepgrandchildren and one stepgreat-grandchild; a sister, Theresa Hodges; and several nieces and nephews, including Bill Spradlin, Huntington.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Ralph Combs, who died Dec. 11, 1969.
The services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Elmwood Cemetery, Owensboro.
Preferred memorials are to Hospice Association, 723 Harvard Dr., Owensboro, KY 42301.

Lenora Freck
Lenora Wood Freck, 47, 8431S-100W, Warren, died at 10:47 a.m. Friday (June 23, 2000) at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne.
Mrs. Freck was injured in a two-vehicle accident near Warren earlier Friday morning.
She was a 1971 graduate of Huntington North High School and a member of the United Church of Christ, Warren, and Sigma Phi Gamma Sorority. She was employed by Peyton’s Northern, Bluffton, and had previously worked in the loan department of the Exchange Bank of Warren for 27 years.
She was born Dec. 13, 1952, in Huntington County. Her father, William A. Wood, is deceased. Her mother, Marie Wearley Wood, lives in Warren. She married Kenneth Freck April 13, 1991, in Huntington County; her husband survives.
Additional survivors include a son, Matt Buzzard, Chicago, Ill.; a daughter, Jennifer Buzzard, Goshen; two stepdaughters, Lynne Huffman, Liberty Center, and Julie Myers, Warren; and two brothers, Donald Wood, Nashville, Tenn., and Richard Wood, Bluffton.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Monday at Glancy Funeral Homes, H. Brown and Son Chapel, Warren, where services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday. Rev. Charlie Dye will officiate. Burial will be at Lancaster Cemetery.
Rose M. Freytag
Rose M. Freytag, 68, 4497W-200N, died at 2 a.m. Tuesday (June 20, 2000) at her home at Valley View Mobile Home Park.
Mrs. Freytag had been employed by Memcor and by United Technologies, Carrier Division. She attended St. Peter Lutheran Church.
She was born June 13, 1932, in Hartford City to Carl F. and Gladys Frank Freytag.
Surviving are a sister-in-law, Sadie Freytag, Roanoke, and four nieces, including Rebekah Waldron and Mary Tobin, both of Huntington, and Cara Marshall, Roanoke.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Guy Freytag.
The will be no services. Cremation was held.
