Raymond L. Green
Raymond L. Green, 70, Milton, Ky., died at 7:55 a.m. Saturday (Sept. 16, 2000) at the Hospice of Louisville in Louisville, Ky.
Mr. Green served as assistant principal of Huntington North High School from 1975 to 1978 and was principal of Warsaw High School from 1978 to 1981. He chaired the Indiana Education Relations Board from 1981 until his retirement in 1991. He had previously taught and coached basketball in Sellersburg, Connersville, and Frankfort, and was a principal at Milan High School. He was also a 29-year veteran of the Indiana National Guard and served as a volunteer firefighter in several communities.
He was a member of the Northminster Presbyterian Church, Indianapolis, and attended the Madison Presbyterian Church.
He was born May 18, 1930, in Madison, a son of John Robert Green and Mary Elizabeth Lenfesty Green. He married Mary Ann Vincent Sept. 2, 1950; his wife survives.
Additional survivors include three sons, Raymond Thomas “R.T.” Green of Fort Wayne, Dr. Steven Michael Green of Indianapolis, and Bruce Jeffrey Green of Warsaw; seven grandchildren; and a brother, James R. Green, Beaufort, S.C.
A sister, Martha Loos, is deceased.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Monday and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Morgan-Webster-Nay Funeral Home, 325 Demaree Dr., Madison, where services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday. Rev. Mark Porter will officiate. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Gardens, Madison.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Indiana Association for Retarded Citizens.
Roger A. Johnson
Roger A. Johnson, 64, Fort Wayne, died Saturday (Sept. 16, 2000) at his home.
He was a job coach for Anthony Wayne Services, Fort Wayne, and for 29 years manager of human resources at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Marion. He retired in 1995. He was a member of St. Michael Lutheran Church in Fort Wayne. He was a former resident of Gas City.
He was born April 21, 1936, in Hibbing, Minn., son of Rudolph and Ruth Newberg Johnson. On Sept. 23, 1972, in Nebraska he married Lucy E. Huebner, who survives.
Survivors also include four daughters, Camille R. Bartel of Huntington, Karen A. Gordon of Columbus, Jacqueline K. Johnson of Pax River, Md., and Jennifer N. Alm of Charlotte, N.C.; two sons, Tom Ibholm of Fort Wayne and Paul E. Johnson of Sacramento, Calif.; and three grandchildren.
Calling is 2-5 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. Tuesday at D.O. McComb & Sons Covington Knolls Chapel Funeral Home, 8325 Covington Rd., Fort Wayne. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Michael Lutheran Church, 2131 Getz Rd., Fort Wayne, with Rev. David Moore officiating.
Burial will be at Covington Memorial Gardens.
Preferred memorials are to St. Michael Lutheran Church, Fort Wayne, or Grace Lutheran Church, 2015 E. Main St., Gas City.
Joseph E. Prus
Joseph E. Prus, 73, Fort Wayne, died at 7 p.m. Thursday (Sept. 14, 2000) at Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne.
Mr. Prus was retired from Dana Corp., Fort Wayne. He graduated from Huntington Catholic High School and from Marion Business College, and served in the Air Force.
He was born July 20, 1927, in Huntington, to Casmer and Fenna Hnatejko Prus.
He is survived by two sisters, Mrs. James (Mary Ann) South, Roanoke, and Mrs. Richard (Helen) Davis, Huntington; and two brothers, Francis Prus, Huntington and Robert J. Prus, Andrews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, William J. Prus.
There will be no calling. A memorial Mass will be held at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at St. Mary Catholic Church, with Father Gary Sigler officiating.
Burial will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
Preferred memorials are to Masses at St. Mary Catholic Church, the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes. Association.
Hart Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Chris A. Fulton
Chris A. Fulton, 40, died Wednesday (Sept. 13, 2000) at his home in Fort Wayne.
Mr. Fulton was a member of Fellowship Missionary Church, Fort Wayne.
He was born Oct. 10, 1959, in Huntington to Glen F. and Doris Fulton. His mother, Doris Goodyear, survives and lives in Huntington. He married Pamela Fox, who survives.
Also surviving are a son, Timothy G. Fulton of Fort Wayne; a daughter, Abigail D. Fulton of Fort Wayne; a brother, Roger Fulton of North Richland Hills, Texas; four sisters, Patricia Winkler of Portland, Oregon, Linda Eisenmann of Decatur, and Carolyn Harvey and Marcia Klodzen, both of Fort Wayne; and his grandmother, Mary Kocher of Huntington.
Calling is from 2-8 p.m. Friday at the D. O. McComb & Sons Foster Park Funeral Home, 6301 Fairfield Ave., Fort Wayne.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, with calling one hour prior to services, at the Fellowship Missionary Church, 2536 E. Tillman Rd., Fort Wayne.
Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Union Cemetery
in Huntington County.
Preferred memorials are to the Fellowship Missionary Church.
Kay Oechsle
Kay Oechsle, 56, Ohio City, Ohio, died at 11 a.m. Thursday (Sept. 14, 2000) at her home.
Mrs. Oechsle was employed by the Universal Lettering Company in Van Wert, Ohio, for 18 years. She was a member of the First United Brethren in Christ Church, Van Wert, where she was involved with the Bible Buckeyes program.
She was born May 23, 1944, in Huntington County to Robert and Melba Coolman Harper. Her parents survive and live in Huntington. She married Lowell D. Oechsle June 28, 1980. He also survives.
Also surviving are four sons, Randy Oechsle, Barry Oechsle and Scott Foster, all of Ohio City, and Rod Foster of Rockford, Ohio; two daughters, Mrs. Tim (Tammy) Hamrick and Mrs. Mark (Rhonda) VanMetre, both of Ohio City; a brother, Lonnie Harper of Fort Wayne; a sister, Mrs. Dave (Jody) Hanson of Huntington; and 11 grandchildren.
Calling will be after 2 p.m. Saturday at the Cowan & Son Funeral Home, 616 S. Washington St., Van Wert, Ohio.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, with calling one hour prior to services, at the First United Brethren in Christ Church, Van Wert, Ohio. Rev. Barry McCune will officiate.
Burial will be at Fletcher Cemetery, Willshire Township, Ohio.
Preferred memorials are to the First United Brethren in Christ Church, the Wren, Ohio, E.M.S., or Van Wert Area Visiting Nurses and Hospice.
Ray E. Selvage
Ray E. Selvage, 64, Plant City, Fla., died at 3:50 a.m. Tuesday (Sept. 12, 2000) at the James A. Haley Veterans Hospital in Tampa, Fla.
Mr. Selvage had been a self-employed truck driver and had formerly worked for the Laketon Refinery for 20 years. He had been a military police sergeant in the Marine Corps.
He moved to Wabash in 1964 and had lived in Florida for the past two years. He was a member of the Wabash Freewill Baptist Church.
He was born Nov. 29, 1935, in Barnetts Creek, Ky., to Add and Flossie Ratliff Selvage. He married Emmalene Carpenter on July 9, 1954, in Paintsville, Ky. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Randy R. Selvage of Monticello and Jody Selvage of Huntington; three daughters, Mrs. Jim (Pamelia) Richardson of Plant City, Fla., Mrs. Jerry (Tammy) Conley of Wabash and Mrs. Trent (Jill) Schuler of Roann; a sister, Ilene Pack of Paintsville, Ky.; his stepmother, Esta Mae Selvage of West Van Lear, Ky.; seven grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by a brother.
Calling is from 4-8 p.m. Friday at the Grandstaff-Hentgen Manchester Avenue Chapel, 1177 Manchester Ave., Wabash, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday with Rev. Venny VanHoose officiating.
Burial will be at Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
Preferred memorials are to the American Cancer Society.
Helen L. Streit
Helen Louise Streit, 83, 630 S. Broadway, died at 4 a.m. Friday (Sept. 15, 2000) at her home.
Mrs. Streit had been employed at Wabash Magnetics for 30 years and later worked at the LaFontaine Center.
She was born Dec. 31, 1916, in Detroit, Mich., to Edward and Harriet Wright Burns. She married Walter Streit on March 19, 1938. He survives.
Also surviving are a son, Raymond Streit of Goshen; a daughter, Mrs. Dave (Carol) Truitt of Huntington; a sister, Harriet, of Detroit, Mich.; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A son, Richard Streit, preceded her in death.
Calling is from 4-8 p.m. Saturday and from 1 p.m. until the 2 p.m. funeral service Sunday at Hart Funeral Home. Rev. Karl Fleig will officiate at the funeral.
Burial will be at Star of Hope Cemetery
at a later date.
