Eileen Johnson
Eileen Johnson, 74, Harris Street, died Sunday (April 15, 2001) at her home.
Mrs. Johnson was a homemaker and had worked several years at the Erie Department Store. She was a member of the Bethel United Methodist Church and the Women of the Moose Huntington Lodge. She had vacationed at Silver Springs Camping Resort in Silver Springs, Fla., during the winter for many years.
She was born March 13, 1927, in Marion. She married DeWayne Johnson on Jan. 30, 1947, in Marion. Her husband survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Gary D. Johnson and Larry G. Johnson, both of Huntington; two daughters, Mrs. Danny (Patricia) Carpenter, Huntington, and Mrs. Jim (Carolyn) Sotherden, Oklawaha, Fla.; a stepdaughter, Duayna Carol Kopiel, Rome, N.Y.; a sister, Margaret Glover, Hollywood, Fla.; 16 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul Nichols and Fred Fisher; a sister, Florence Riddle; and a grandson.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Myers Funeral Home, Huntington Chapel, where funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday. Rev. Richard E. Bunnell will officiate. Burial will be at the Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
Irene L. Yaste
Irene L. Yaste, 77, a resident of Norwood Nursing Center, died at the home at 5:50 p.m. Tuesday (April 17, 2001).
Mrs. Yaste was a beautician and had her own shop in Huntington.
She was born June 21, 1924, in Bluffton, a daughter of John and Mary Stuck. She married Charles Yaste Nov. 6, 1948, at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Huntington. Her husband died Feb. 22, 1974.
Surviving are two brothers, Paul Stuck, Fort Wayne, and Don Stuck, Los Angeles, Calif.
A third brother, Max Stuck, is deceased.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, with recitation of the Rosary at 6 p.m., at Hart Funeral Home. Services will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, with Father Ron Rieder officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church for Masses in Mrs. Yaste’s honor.
Sharon P. Logan
Sharon Paulette Logan, 52, Jonesboro, died at 1:25 a.m. Monday (April 16, 2001) at Colonial Oaks Health Care Center, Marion.
Mrs. Logan was a homemaker and had been employed by United Technologies, Huntington, for six years. She was a member of the Apostolic Friends Church, Jonesboro.
She was born Dec. 1, 1948, in Coleman, Ala., to Paul R. and Lola G. Garland Helms. She married Larry L. Logan on Nov. 4, 1967. Her husband survives.
She is also survived by a son, Jason P. Logan, Marion; and her stepmother, Annette Helms, of Virginia.
A brother, Jayson Helms, preceded her in death.
Calling is 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Home, 400 E. Main St., Gas City.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Apostolic Friends Church, 1647E-600S, Jonesboro, with Rev. Raymond Brown officiating. Burial will be at the Park Cemetery, Fairmount.
Preferred memorials are to Cancer Services of Grant County, 1223 W. Spencer Ave., Marion, IN 46952.
Brandon L. Franks
Brandon Lee Franks was stillborn at 9:11 p.m. Monday (April 16, 2001) at Huntington Memorial Hospital.
Surviving are his parents, Anthony Franks and Lorrie Zeissig, both of Huntington; his grandparents, Earl Franks, Marion, Mary Freeman, Pierceton, and Steve and Kathy Zeissig, Huntington; and his great-grandparents, Priscilla Wharem, Berne, and Werner and Eileen Zeissig, Decatur.
There are no calling hours or services.

Sister Roselene Flaherty
Sister Roselene Flaherty, 88, O.L.V.M., died Tuesday morning (April 17, 2001) at Haines City, Fla.
She was born Oct. 17, 1912, in Louisville, Ky.
She entered the congregation of Our Lady of Victory Missionary Sisters on Oct. 30, 1939, and made her first vows Aug. 5, 1942. She served in missions in Indiana, Texas, Michigan, California, New Mexico, Colorado, Utah, Ohio, and Kentucky.
Survivors include two sisters, Dorothy Young and Irene Flaherty, both of Louisville, Ky.
A wake service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday at Victory Noll. Calling will be after 4 p.m. Friday and until 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Victory Noll. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Victory Noll Chapel, with Father Thomas Fahey officiating. Burial will be at the Victory Noll Cemetery.
Hart Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Lola Ness
Lola Ness, 72, 1557 Canfield St., died at 1:56 p.m. Wednesday (April 18, 2001) at her home.
Mrs. Ness was a homemaker and had worked as a waitress. She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2689 Auxiliary and Moose Lodge 837, both of Huntington.
She was born April 16, 1929, in Jackson, Ky., to Tinsley and Margaret Bailey Rowe. She married Herman G. “Jack” Ness in Gulf Port, Miss., on April 20, 1977. Her husband survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Richard Ferguson, Huntertown, and Roger Blessing, of Florida; two daughters, Vicki Biggs, Roanoke, and Mrs. Tom (Roxanne) Carpenter, Fort Wayne; two brothers, Frank Rowe, Huntington, and Dudley Rowe, South Whitley; three sisters, Mrs. Louis (Molly) Clem, Fort Wayne, Mrs. Chester (Goldie) Avey, Penville, and Mrs. Lloyd (Myrtle) England, North Manchester; six grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Kern Rowe, Jess Rowe and James Rowe; and three sisters, Mattie Spencer, Martha Rollins and Nancy Rowe.
Calling is from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at the Bailey-Love Mortuary, where funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday with Pastor Dave DeSelm officiating.
Burial will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
June A. Irick
June Ann Irick, 67, a resident of Norwood Nursing Center, died at 9 p.m. Tuesday (April 17, 2001) at the home.
Mrs. Irick, a former resident of Salamonie Township, was a member of the Huntington County Extension Homemakers, the Extension Homemaker Choir, Tri Kappa Associates, and Buckeye Christian Church. She was a 1951 graduate of Warren High School.
She had lived in Fort Wayne before moving to Norwood last November.
She was born June 11, 1933, in Swayzee, to Charles Samuel and Ethel Jones Bechtel. She married Joh L. Irick on Dec. 25, 1951 in Plum Tree. He died March 19, 1994.
Additional survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Colter (Cynthia) Wehr, Huntington, and Mrs. Perry (Tamara) Spahr, Warren; a son, Roger Irick, Warren; a brother, Robert Bechtel, Warren; a sister, Mrs. Wayne (Rosemary) Pope, Warren; and 13 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Bernard Irick, and two brothers, Charles Bechtel and Dwight Bechtel.
Calling is from 2-8 p.m. Friday at Glancy Funeral Homes, H. Brown and Son Chapel, Warren. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Buckeye Christian Church.
Burial will be at Thompson Home Cemetery, Warren.

Maurice ‘Mauri’ Hughes
Maurice “Mauri” Hughes, 88, Lagro, died Tuesday (April 17, 2001) at Wabash Skilled Care, Wabash.
Mr. Hughes was a tool and die maker and a farmer. He retired from General Tire, Wabash, in 1975. He had been a member of Howard Masonic Lodge 93, Kokomo, since 1943. He was also a member of the Scottish Rite, Indianapolis 32nd Degree; the Murat Temple, Indianapolis; and Eastern Star, Kokomo. He was a former resident of Kokomo and Huntington.
He was born Oct. 3, 1912, in Delphi to David Vernon and Stella Campbell Hughes. He married Helen Ruth Miller in 1939. His wife died in 1993.
He is survived by a son. A sister preceded him in death.
Calling will be held from 4 p.m. until the 7 p.m. funeral service Friday at the McDonald Funeral Home, Eddingfield Chapel, 231 Falls Ave., Wabash.
Burial will be at a later date.
