Marvin A. Bogert
Marvin A. Bogert, 65, Huntington, died at 11 p.m. Wednesday (Nov. 14, 2001) at his home.
Mr. Bogert was a mechanical engineer for Kenworth Truck Co., Renton, Wash., retiring Nov. 2 of this year. He served in the National Guard in Federal Way, Wash., and was a member of Evangelical United Methodist Church, Huntington.
He was born Nov. 2, 1936, in Inkster, N.D., to Lawrence C. and Lilah M. Carroll Bogert. He married Katherine Stapleton on Aug. 26, 1967. She survives.
Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Mark (Jacqueline) Wohlford, Huntington; three brothers, Leo Bogert, Bremerton, Wash., Dallas Bogert, Federal Way, Wash., and Gordon Bogert, Seattle, Wash.; and two grandchildren.
A brother, Lawrence Clifford Bogert, preceded him in death.
Calling is from 1 p.m. until the 2 p.m. memorial service Sunday at Evangelical United Methodist Church, with Rev. Marti Lundy officiating.

Russell A. Saunders
Russell A. Saunders, 54, Cabot, Ark., a former Huntington resident, died Thursday (Nov. 15, 2001) at Rebsman Regional Medical Center, Jacksonville, Ark.
Funeral arrangements are pending at Cabot Funeral Home, Cabot, Ark.
Ethel M. Sheckler
Ethel M. Sheckler, 97, died at 4 a.m. Wednesday (Nov. 14, 2001) at the Oaks Nursing Home in Columbia City.
Miss Sheckler had been a seamstress and attended the Columbia City Church of the Nazarene.
She was born Aug. 23, 1904, in Thorncreek Township, Whitley County, to Charles and Matilda Walton Sheckler. She lived in Columbia City until moving to Fort Wayne in 1921. She returned to Columbia City on March 28, 1945.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews; several great-nieces and great-nephews, including Pastor Marty Sheckler, Markle; and several great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.
Two brothers, Lyman Sheckler and Clayton Sheckler, preceded her in death.
Calling is from 2:30 p.m. until the 3:30 p.m. funeral service Sunday at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Dr., Columbia City. Pastor Sheckler will conduct the service.
Burial will be at Stough Cemetery, Columbia City.
Preferred memorials are to the donor’s choice of charities.
Susan Irene Knight Arndt
Susan Irene Knight Arndt, 94, died in Sarasota, Fla. on Wednesday (Nov. 14, 2001).
Funeral arrangements are pending in Mishawaka.
Mary Elizabeth Martin
Mary Elizabeth Martin, 97, formerly of Huntington, died at 12:45 p.m. last Saturday (Nov. 10, 2001) at Fair Haven Nursing Home in Miami Springs, Fla.
Mrs. Martin was a homemaker and member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Huntington.
She was born Aug. 25, 1904, in North Manchester, a daughter of Melvin and Myra Eckenrod Lavey. She married Eugene L. Martin on Oct. 10, 1925. He preceded her in death in November 1994.
Survivors include a daughter, Mary Jane Rouch, Miami, Fla.; two sons, James R. Martin, Cory, N.C., and Philip E. Martin, Indianapolis; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
There is no local calling.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Huntington, with Father Ron Rieder officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
Hart Funeral Home, Huntington, is in charge of arrangements.
Arnold E. Mason
Arnold E. Mason, 77, Carmichael, Calif., died Saturday (Nov. 10, 2001).
Mr. Mason was a veteran of World War II.
He was born Jan. 12, 1924, in Markle, to William and Tressie Mason.
He is survived by his wife, Lois Mason; two sons, Lynn Mason, Sacramento, Calif., and Larry Mason, Nevada City, Calif.; three brothers, Kyle Mason and Paul Mason, both of Indiana, and Oliver Mason, Kentucky; and four grandchildren.
Calling is 5-7 p.m. Thursday and services are at 1 p.m. Friday at the Lind Brothers Mortuary, Carmichael Oaks Chapel, 4221 Manzanita Ave., Carmichael, Calif. Burial will follow at the Fair Oaks Cemetery, Carmichael, Calif.

Betty A. Sterling
Betty A. Sterling, 66, a resident of Indiana Street, died at 11:21 p.m. Sunday (Nov. 11, 2001) at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne.
Mrs. Sterling was a homemaker. She was a 1953 graduate of Andover Central High School in Andover, N.Y.
She was born May 11, 1935, in Sabenville, Pa.,to Harry C. and Nettie M. Rhodes Tanner. She married Norbert C. Sterling Feb. 25, 1957, in Fort Wayne. Her husband survives.
Additional survivors include two sons, Norbert Sterling Jr. and Steven Sterling, both of Huntington; two daughters, Mary Carney, Bristol, and Debra Muniga, Roanoke; two sisters, Opal Snyder, Huntington, and Vivian Payne, South Whitley; three brothers, Clifford Tanner, Fort Wayne, Gerald Tanner, Huntington, and Larry Tanner, Gravel Switch, Ky.; and six grandchildren.
A brother, Joe Tanner, died in infancy.
There are no calling hours or services.

Daryl C. Lambert
Daryl Clendon Lambert, 69, Columbia City, died at 8:30 p.m. Friday (Nov. 10, 2001) at his residence. His death followed a brief illness.
Mr. Lambert had recently retired as the owner and president of C&R Plating in Columbia City, which he had owned since 1968. He was named Entrepreneur of the Year in 1997 by the George S. May Co. Prior to buying the Columbia City plating firm, he had worked at the former C&M Plating firm in Roanoke for 13 years.
Mr. Lambert was an Army veteran of the
Korean War. He was a member of the Columbia City United Methodist Church, where he sang in the choir for 15 years and served as an usher. He was a member of Eagles Lodge 1906 and American Legion Post 98, both in Columbia City. He was a 1950 graduate of Union High School in Huntington County.
Mr. Lambert was born April 6, 1932, in Huntington County, to Albert Ira Lambert and Delsie Florence Smith Lambert. He married Eloise Marie “Ellie” Bailey Aug. 19, 1951, at the Church of the Brethren in Huntington. His wife survives.
Also surviving are two sons, David LeVon Lambert, Pierceton, and Darin Bruce Lambert, Madison, Tenn.; two grandsons; one great-granddaughter; four sisters, Evelyn Hippenhammer, Hudson, Treva Taylor, Markle, Verda Patten, Zanesville, and Twylo Hutchison, Waynedale; and a brother, Milford Lambert, Markle.
He was preceded in death by six brothers, Richard Lambert, Cleophus Lambert, Nolan Lambert, Lester Lambert, Ralph Lambert, and Verl Lambert, and a sister, Fern Lincoln.
Calling will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday at the DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Dr., Columbia City. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with Pastor Jack Scott and Pastor J. Phillip Blake officiating. Burial will be at the Star of Hope Cemetery, Huntington County, with graveside military services being conducted by members of Columbia City American Legion Post 98.
Preferred memorials are to Parkview Whitley Home Health Care and Hospice.
Ardith T. Pratt
Ardith T. Pratt, 89, a former resident of Himes Street, died at 1:39 p.m. Sunday (Nov. 11, 2001) at The Heritage of Huntington, where she had been a resident since August.
Mrs. Pratt was a homemaker and a member of the Evangelical United Methodist Church.
She was born May 28, 1912, in Columbia City, to Edward C. and Myrtle E. Ream Foster. She married Kenneth L. Pratt in Columbia City on Dec. 23, 1933. Her husband died in 1999.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Ben (Karen) Elder, Jeffersonton, Va., and Mrs. Duane (Marilyn) Stetzel, Roanoke, and five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Phillip L. Pratt; a brother, Argyle Foster; a granddaughter and a great-grandson.
Calling is 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Myers Funeral Home, Huntington Chapel.
Funeral services will be held at at 10 am. Thursday, with calling one hour prior to services, at the Evangelical United Methodist Church, 1000 Flaxmill Rd.
Interment will be at the South Park Annex Cemetery, Columbia City.
