Edna L. Raney
Edna L. Raney, 85, formerly of the Tipton House and Norwood Nursing Center in Huntington, died at 2:40 a.m. Sunday (Oct. 21, 2001) at the Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne.
Mrs. Raney was a department manager for Wolf and Dessauer and L.S. Ayres, both in Fort Wayne. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, the Rosary Sodality, and Daughters of Isabella, all in Huntington.
She was born Feb. 11, 1916, in Huntington to George and Alvena Hess Haite. She married Clarence Raney on Aug. 12, 1935. Her husband died Dec. 11, 1993.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Joyce Burkhart, Huntington; and a brother, William Haite, Redlands, Calif.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Marcellus Haite; and a sister, Henrietta Millner.
Calling is 4-8 p.m. Monday, with rosary service at 4 p.m., at the Hart Funeral Home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary Catholic Church, 860 N. Jefferson St., with Father Gary Sigler, Father Raymond Balzer and Father Robert Fosselman officiating.
Burial will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

Robert S. Liby
Robert S. Liby, 59, Ashley, died Saturday (Oct. 20, 2001) at his home.
Mr. Liby was a self-employed woodworking craftsman and a U.S. Army veteran.
He was born Nov. 9, 1941, in Mishawaka to Russell L. and Dorothy J. Jacobs Liby. He married Marcia Minch in Fort Wayne on Oct. 23, 1970. His wife survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Micah Liby and Timothy Liby, both of Ashley; two daughters, Mrs. Stephen (Carrie) Lavoy, Angola, and Christine Miller, Ashley; a brother, Thomas Liby, Angola; three sisters, Mrs. Joseph (Nancy) Stark, Alexandria, Mrs. David (Beth) Mansfield, Plainfield, and Mrs. Phillip (Jane) Borchelt, Fort Wayne; and a grandson.
Calling is 1-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Feller Funeral Home, 875 S. Wayne St., Waterloo.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Lakewood Park Church, 5555 CR 29, Auburn, with Pastor Robert Siegrist officiating.
Burial will be at Covington Memorial Gardens in Fort Wayne.
Preferred memorials are to Child Evangelism Fellowship or to the family trust for Mr. Liby’s children, in care of any branch of the Professional Federal Credit Union.
Harold E. Herr
Harold E. Herr, 83, died at 12:04 a.m. Monday (Oct. 22, 2001) at the United Methodist Memorial Home, where he had been a resident for the past year.
Mr. Herr had been a lifetime farmer in Nottingham Township, Wells County, and Salamonie Township, Huntington County. He retired from Franklin Electric, Bluffton, in 1980 after 21 years of service. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Warren.
He was born Aug. 6, 1918, in Clinton County to Henry Lawrence and Mary Martha Barnett Herr. He graduated from Warren High School in 1938. His first marriage was to Lois Shumaker; she died in 1989. His second marriage was to Lois Shumaker in Greenwood on Nov. 5, 1989. She survives and lives in Warren.
Also surviving are two sons, Phil Herr and Steve Herr, both of Warren; a daughter, Mrs. Harvey (Sharon) DeWees, Sanbornton, N.H.; two stepsons, Frederick Nash, Liberty Center, and Joseph Nash, Montpelier; a brother, Robert Herr, Gloucester, Va.; two sisters, Maxine Jones and Marjorie Rupright, both of Warren; 15 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by a son, Richard D. Herr; a grandchild and a great-grandchild.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Glancy Funeral Homes, H. Brown & Son Chapel, 203 N. Matilda St., Warren, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday. Rev. John Wallace and Pastor Herbert Edwards will officiate. Burial will be at the Jones Cemetery, Warren.

Sister Elizabeth Hann
Sister Elizabeth Hann O.L.V.M., 93, of Victory Noll in Huntington, died at 2:15 p.m. Sunday (Oct. 21, 2001) at Parkview Huntington Hospital.
Sr. Hann was born July 22, 1908, near Newton, Ill., to Anthony and Mary Rennier Hann. She entered the congregation of Our Lady of Victory Noll Missionary Sisters on Oct. 21, 1927, and made first vows on March 25, 1930. She served in missions of New Mexico and California for about 67 years and returned to Victory Noll in 1994.
Survivors include a sister, Sister Justina Hann of the Loretta Motherhouse, Nerinx, Ky.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by six brothers and a sister.
A wake service will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, with calling one hour prior to the service, at the Victory Noll Chapel, 1900 W. Park Dr.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, with calling one hour prior to the Mass, at the Victory Noll Chapel with Rev. Thomas Fahey officiating.
Burial will be at the Victory Noll Cemetery.
Hart Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Dr. Warren M. Van Campen
Dr. Warren M. Van Campen, Fishers, died Sunday (Oct. 21, 2001) at St. Vincent Hospital in Carmel.
Dr. Van Campen, a former resident of Carmel, practiced anesthesiology at St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis, for more than 20 years, retiring in 1992. He previously had a family practice in Huntington.
Dr. Van Campen graduated from Houghton College in New York and the Indiana University School of Medicine and had also attended Ohio State University. He served with the Air Force during World War II and was a member of Grace Community Church in Noblesville. He was a native of Chinchilla, Pa.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Van Campen; two daughters, Julie S. Turk, Charlotte, N.C., and Luann E. Van Campen, Indianapolis; a brother, Arthur Van Campen, Midlothian, Tex.; two sisters, Frances Van Campen, Montrose, Pa., and Barbara Kaechele, Hamden, Conn; and two grandchildren.
Calling is 3-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Allisonville Road Chapel of Harry Moore Family Mortuaries, 8151 N. Allisonville Rd., Indianapolis. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Grace Community Church, Noblesville. Burial will be at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens, Fishers.

Alice W. Chilcote
Alice Wayzata Chilcote, 70, of Fort Wayne, died Monday (Oct. 22, 2001) at the Hospice Home of Northeast Indiana in Fort Wayne.
Mrs. Chilcote was the owner of the Best Way Cleaning Company for 21 years, retiring in 1995. She was a member of the First Missionary Church in Fort Wayne, the Allen County Genealogical Society, Jefferson Homemakers Club, and a founding member of the Genealogical Society of Whitley County. She was a 4-H club leader for 10 years.
She was born Dec. 20, 1930, in Huntington County to Lorenzo and Alice Roberts Huffman. She married Merle Louis Chilcote., who survives.
Also surviving are a daughter, Irene M. Wagley, Fort Wayne; a son, Eldon L. Chilcote, Fort Wayne; a brother, Val Gene Huffman, Jeffersonville; and four grandchildren.
Calling is 1-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday and from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral service Friday at the Elzey Patterson Rodak Home for Funerals, 6810 Old Trail Rd., Fort Wayne. Rev. James Johnson will officiate. Burial will be at Covington Memorial Gardens, Fort Wayne.

Jane A. Wetters
Jane Ann Wetters, 74, Naperville, Ill., died at 7 a.m. Saturday (Oct. 27, 2001) at Edwards Hospital in Naperville.
Mrs. Wetters graduated from Lancaster Township High School in 1945 and Ball State Teachers College in 1948, earning a degree in home economics. She had been employed as a substitute teacher and librarian and performed volunteer work for the Red Cross. She was a member of the Evangelical United Methodist Church, Huntington. She had been a resident of Community Nursing and Rehabilitation, Naperville, Ill., since May of 2001 and was formerly of Huntington and Bluffton.
She was born Sept. 11, 1927, in Lancaster to David and Agnes Wiley Shutt. She married Dale D. Wetters at the Salamonie Church of the Brethren on June 25, 1949. Her husband died Oct. 4, 1995.
Survivors include two sons, John D. Wetters, Fort Worth, Texas, and Brian D. Wetters, Geneva, Ill.; two sisters, Martha Hurdle, Carmel, and Beth Bieberich, Fort Wayne; and five grandchildren.
A son, Joseph Wetters, preceded her in death.
Calling is 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Myers Funeral Home, Huntington Chapel, where funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday. Rev. Richard Bunnell will officiate.
Interment will be at the Lancaster Cemetery
in Huntington County.

Reign H. Shipley
Reign Hugh Shipley, 72, Vernon, Fla., died Friday (Oct. 26, 2001) in Chipley, Fla.
Mr. Shipley had been a resident of Vernon, Fla., for the past 30 years, moving there from Kentucky. He was a member of the East Side Baptist Church, Vernon, Fla., where he served as a deacon. He graduated from and taught music at Morehead State University in Morehead, Ky. He was a high school band director, science teacher and assistant principal in Kentucky and Florida. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Greensburg, Ky., and a member of the Chipley Gideon Camp. He was commissioned as a Kentucky Colonel.
He was born Dec. 20, 1928, in Huntington to William H. and Geraldine Carmer Shipley. He was a 1946 graduate of Huntington High School.
Survivors include his wife, Lenore Shipley, Vernon, Fla.; a son, William J. Shipley, Bonifay, Fla.; two daughters, Mary Jo Watlington, Laurel, Md., and Carol Margaret Sisk, Lafayette; and four grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Wachob Chapel, Chipley, Fla., with Rev. Edward Pilarczyk, Rev. John Jones and Rev. Ray Cotton officiating.
Burial will be at Bellefonte Memorial Gardens, Flatwoods, Ky., on Thursday at 3 p.m.
