Judy Pentecost

Judy Ann Pentecost, 45, of Evansville, died Monday, Nov. 5, 2001, at her home of cardiac arythmia.

Surviving are her husband of 28 years, Stephen; a daughter, Mary Brown of Evansville; a son, John of Evansville; three sisters, Carolyn Finney of Jordan, Ark., Barbara Butler of Evansville and Joyce Kenworthy of Princeton, Ind.; two brothers, Jack and William "Billy" Trainer, both of Evansville; three grandchildren, Kailyn Pentecost, Josh Brown and Katlin Biggs; nieces and nephews; and Helen Pentecost who cared for her.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Miller & Miller Colonial Chapel, with burial in Alexander Memorial Park.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.

William Wagner

William V. Wagner, 85, of Evansville, died Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2001, at Deaconess Hospital. He retired in 1986 from the family owned Wagner's Market and was a member of the Indiana Grocer's Association.

He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church and Knights of St. John and their bowling league.

Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Laura (Rode); a daughter, Jane Sutton of Evansville; a son, Thomas of Evansville; five sisters, Sister Mary Josephine of Kokomo, Ind., Alberta Schreiber, Katherine Miller and Betty Jochim, all of Evansville, and Margaret Borum of Reno, Nev.; a brother, Eugene of Aurora, Colo.; and four grandchildren, Lindsey Cichra and Lauren, Miranda and Preston Wagner.

Services will be at 9:45 a.m. Thursday at Ziemer Funeral Home Central Chapel, continuing at 10 a.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church, the Rev. Jay Davidson officiating, with burial in St. Joseph Cemetery.

Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home, with a memorial service at 7 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to his church.

Dennis Nelligan

Dennis Nelligan, 59, of Evansville, died Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2001, at his home of cancer. He retired from Sears Roebuck and Co. after 25 years, was an Air Force veteran, serving in Okinawa. He was Methodist. Surviving are his wife of 33 years, Bonnie; two daughters, Lora Houchin and Deborah Nelligan, both of Evansville; two sons, Scott of Evansville and John of Ohio; his parents, Eugene and Juanita Nelligan of Evansville; a sister, Sharon Bryant of Evansville; two brothers, Jim and Mark, both of Evansville; five grandchildren, Benjamin and Alyssa Nelligan and Kelli, Andrew, and Kristen Houchin; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Alexander Funeral Home West Chapel, the Rev. Ernest Stair officiating, with burial in Tupman Cemetery.

Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today and from 11 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Columbus Campbell

Columbus Campbell, 89, of Evansville, died Monday, Nov. 5, 2001, at St. Mary's Medical Center. He retired from the Rust Construction Co. and he was a 60-year member of New Hope Baptist Church.

Surviving are a son, Robert of Evansville; a brother, Leroy of Evansville; 10 grandchildren, Charles D. and Gerald D. Reed, Terri Brown, Valerie Cayce, Jerwonda Walker, Beatrice McElroy, Terratta Wakefield, Deborah Smith, LaDonna Payne and La Ronda Minor; and his caregiver, Lillie P. Smith.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at New Hope Baptist Church, the Revs. W.R. Brown Sr. and W.R. Brown Jr. officiating, with burial in Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 pm. Thursday at Mason Bros. Memorial Chapel, with the wake service from 6 to 8 p.m.

Virgie Roth

Virgie L. Roth, 82, of Evansville, died Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2001, at Holiday Healthcare.

She had worked part time as a caregiver for the elderly.

She was a member of Melody Hill Free Methodist Church.

Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law who cared for her, Gail and Lynn Ralston of Colorado Springs, Colo.; a son and daughter-in-law who cared for her, Dale and Carolyn Roth of Evansville; two sisters, Pauline Heidorn of Boonville, Ind., and Velma Ashby of Evansville; five grandchildren, Kelly Lynn and Kimberly Gail Ralston, Eryn Kay, Brooke Suzanne and Jessica Dale Roth; two great-grandchildren; and Betty Dougan, who cared for her. Her husband, Oswald Cullen Roth, died in 1985.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Koehler Funeral Home Boonville Chapel, the Revs. John Lefler and Emmett Owensby officiating, with burial in Boonville's Maple Grove Cemetery.

Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.

Joellyn Thomas

Joellyn M. Thomas, 46, of Evansville, died Sunday, Nov. 4, 2001, at her home of heart failure. She earned a bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of Southern Indiana, was a Crisis Line volunteer and a former member of Citizen's Advisory Council. She was a Catholic.

Surviving are her mother, June A. Thomas of Evansville; a brother, John M. Thomas of Pinellas Park, Fla.; and nephews.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Ziemer Funeral Home Central Chapel, Sister Joan Miller officiating, with burial in St. Louis Cemetery in Henderson, Ky.

Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or the Crisis Line.

Wanda Pierce

Wanda Sue Pierce, 69, of Evansville, died Monday, Nov. 5, 2001, at her home of a heart attack. She was Baptist.

Surviving are two daughters, Linda Paugh of LaCrescenta, Calif., and Carole Sue Schnieder of North Royalton, Ohio; a son, Daniel Paugh of Evansville; two brothers, Paul Pierce of Evansville and Don Pierce of Petersburgh, Ky.; and five grandchildren, David, Patrick, Christopher and Lisa Schnieder and Loren Paugh.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Miller & Miller Colonial Chapel, the Rev. Alton Davis officiating, with burial in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Sherry Betz

SCHNELLVILLE - Sherry D. (Sickbert) Betz, 52, died Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2001, at her home of complications of Lou Gehrig's disease.

She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, St. Ann's Society, past president of Sacred Heart Parish Council, former officer of the cemetery board, president of Schnellville Home Economic Club, served as president and secretary of Dubois County 4-H and was their counsel director for six years and was an honorary member of the Forest Park FFA.

Surviving are her husband, Larry; two daughters, Julie Barth of Ferdinand and Tammy Betz of Schnellville; two sons, Chris of Celestine and David of Atlanta; her parents, Edwin and Hazel Sickbert of Birdseye; a sister, Anita Mehringer of Jasper; three brothers, Michael, Gary and Tim Sickbert, all of Birdseye; and three grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. EST Thursday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with burial in the church cemetery.

Friends may call from noon to 8 p.m. today at Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper, with a rosary at 4 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to her church or a favorite charity.

Radius Schnarr

JASPER - Radius "Perp" J. Schnarr, 81, died Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2001 at his home. He was the former owner and operator of the Schnarr Electrical Co. in Jasper and was a World War II Army Air Corps veteran.

He was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 673, American Legion Post 147, 40 Et 8, Jasper Moose and Deutscherverein German Club. Surviving are seven daughters, Sandra L. Schnarr, Sonia Klem, Leesa Beyke and Julie Schroeder, all of Jasper, Sheila D. Flamion of Vincennes, Tina Jochum of Huntingburg and Suzann S. Barron of Conyers, Ga.; three sons, Daniel S., Michael G., and Rickie J., all of Jasper; two sisters, Margie Schneider of Jasper and Betty Jenkins of Cibelo, Texas; 20 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and three stepgreat-grandchildren. His wife, Ruby J. (Stepro), died in 1996, and a son; David, preceded him in death.

Services will be at 11 a.m. EST Friday at Trinity United Church of Christ, with burial in Fairmont Cemetery in Huntingburg with military rites. Friends may call from noon to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper, with a memorial service at 7 p.m., and a 7:30 p.m. service by the Jasper Moose.

Memorial contributions may be made to his church or to the Regional Dialysis Kidney Center in Jasper.

Joe Schnarr

WASHINGTON - Joe "Kokomo Joe" Schnarr, 54, died Monday, Nov. 5, 2001, at his home. The Daviess County coroner is investigating the death.

He was a truck driver for Butcha Trucking, 1965 graduate of Washington High School and elder at Mount Olivet Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

Surviving are his wife, Marian; two daughters, Vicki Welborn and Carrey Allen, both of Washington; a son, Scott of Washington; his mother, Ruby Schnarr of Washington; a brother, Perry; and a grandson, Bryce Welborn. A son, Jeffrey, preceded him in death.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. EST Thursday at Gill Funeral Home, with burial in Sugarland Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.

Sylvia Root

VINCENNES - Sylvia D. Root, 97, died Sunday, Nov. 4, 2001, at Hancock Memorial Hospital in Greenfield.

She retired from teaching English and Latin in 1967 and had taught in Fritchton and Fort Wayne.

She was a graduate of Ball State University and earned her master's degree from Indiana State University.

She was a Quaker.

Surviving are three daughters, Martha Schoeff of Leo, Carolyn Root of Evansville and Kay Briskey of Fortville; three sons, Robin of Fritchton, Floyd Jr. of Lafayette and William of Brown County; 12 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

Her husband, Floyd, preceded her in death.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. John United Church of Christ, with burial in Root Cemetery in Fritchton.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Goodwin Funeral Home.
