Barney M. Constant
March 6, 1909 - May 15, 1990
Barney M. Constant, 81, R.2, (Horseshoe Bend), Brookston, died Tuesday, May 15, at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Lafayette, in the emergency room.
He was born March 6, 1909, to James and Elizabeth Walters Constant, in Hopkinsville, Ky. He was married in July 1929, to Mildred Hobbs, in Tipton. She died Oct. 13, 1983.
He moved from Clinton County to the Brookston area in 1978.
He was a farmer in Clinton County and was employed with the old Nickle Plate Railroad, later known as Norfolk & Western for 47 years, retiring in 1974. Then he worked at Essex Wire Co., Lafayette, and for the Cablec Co., Lafayette, for eight rears, retiring again, in 1989.
He was the oldest member of the St Matthew Lutheran Church, Delphi, and a member of the brotherhood of Retired Railroad Workers.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Charles (Sherrie Ann) Randle, Delphi; Mrs. Betty Jo Blissett, Marion; and Mrs. Patricia L. Milner, Roselle, Ill.; one sister, Claudia Reed, Louisville, Ky.; 10 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and one great-great grandson.
Two sisters, one brother and three great-grandchildren are deceased.
The funeral was today at 1:30 p.m. in Horn Funeral Home, Delphi, with Pastor Arnold Raabe officiating.
Entombment will be in Green Lawn Mausoleum at Frankfort.

Faye Conwell
July 9, 1902 - August 13, 1998
Faye Conwell, 96, died Thursday, Aug. 13, at her residence.
She was born July 9, 1902, to William and Dora Cochran Fitz Hepp, in White County. She was married in 1919, to George L. Conwell, in Buffalo, and he died in 1956.
She was the first woman fur buyer in the state of Indiana. She was also a cook for several years at both the Indiana Veterans Home in Lafayette and at the South Side Restaurant in Monon.
She was a lifetime resident of White County and was a member of the Buffalo Christian Church.
She is survived by a son, Robert of Forest; a daughter, Esther Owen of Buffalo; two half-brothers, Peter Hepp of Kingman, Ariz. and Tom Hepp of Fort Wayne; 10 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren and 17 great-great grandchildren.
A daughter, sister, half-sister and grandchild are deceased.
Funeral services were Saturday, Aug. 15, at the Kellogg Funeral Home, Monon, with the Rev. Alvin Smith officiating.
Burial was in the Buffalo Cemetery.

Ray Edward Cooley
January 9, 1920 - July 9, 2000
Ray Edward Cooley, 80, Monon, died Sunday, July 9, at 7:10 a.m. in his home.
He was born Jan. 9, 1920 to Leonard and Geneva Helfrich Cooley, in Monon. He was married August 14, 1947, to Evelyn Ellis, in Monticello, and she survives.
He lived most of his life in the area.
He served from 1941-43, in the U.S. Navy.
He worked for 40 years as a carpenter and was a member of the Lafayette Carpenters Local Union.
He was a member of the Monon First Baptist Church. He was a member of the Monon American Legion, serving as a former commander and was a 55-year member of the Monon VFW.
He is survived by his wife; sons, Ron Cooley and Delbert Cooley, both of Monon and Floyd "Bud" Cooley of LaCrosse; brother, Robert Cooley, Valparaiso; sisters, Marie Erb, Dorothy Rardon and Phyllis Onken, all of Monon; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Kellogg Funeral Home, Monon, with Rev Steve Birch officiating. Burial was in Bedford Cemetery
with full military rites.
Memorials may be made to the Monon First Baptist Church.
J. Frank Cornwell Sr.
March 15, 1901 - July 14, 1990
J. Frank Cornwell Sr., 89, died at 1:05 a.m., Saturday, July 14, at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Lafayette. He had been in failing health for the last six months. He had been a patient at St. Elizabeth Hospital, since July 4th.
He was born March 15, 1901, to Henry and Artie Bilyeu Cornwell, in Campbellsburg. He was married July 3, 1942, to Pearl Stinson, in Logansport. She survives.
He lived in Chalmers since 1928. He was in the Navy during World War II and served as a radio man.
On January 31, 1971, he retired from the Monon Railroad. He had been the Chalmers station agent and had worked for the railroad for 52½ years.
He was a member of the Monticello Libanus Masonic Lodge No. 154, Chalmers America Legion Post No. 268, Veterans of Foreign Wars No. 1154 in Lafayette and Old Rails, from which he had received his 50-year pin.
Besides his wife survivors include a son, John F. Jr., Bloomington; a daughter, Mrs. Bill (Jackie) Brown, Batesvllle; sister, Mrs. Mary Hacker, Bloomington; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren. A brother is deceased.
The funeral was conducted Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Hartzler Funeral Home with the Rev. Loren Shuman officiating.
Graveside military service was conducted by Chalmers American Legion and VFW Lafayette at Chalmers Community Cemetery.
Memorials can be made to St. Elizabeth Hospital's respiratory service department.
Lawrence A. Cramer
May 19, 1936 - August 10, 1992
Lawrence A. Cramer, 56, DeMotte, died Monday, Aug. 10 in his home.
He was born May 19, 1936, to Alvin and Margaret Reents Cramer, in Monticello.
He graduated from Idaville High School and served with the 6th Infantry Regiment of the U.S. Army from 1954-56.
In 1965, he moved to DeMotte, from Hebron, where he lived for 20 years.
He was an owner-operator of a liquor store in DeMotte. He was a member of Hebron Masonic Lodge, the ORAK Shrine, South Bend Consistory No. 32, DeMotte American Legion and DeMotte Lions Club.
Survivors include a daughter, Debra Rykovich, Hobart; two sons: Lawrence, Sarasota, Fla.; and Chrisie, Bradenton, Fla.; and two sisters: Mrs. John (Shirley) Ortstadt, Las Vegas and Mrs. Rex (Georgia) Hendryx, Brookston.
The funeral will be conducted today at 2 p.m. at Jackson Funeral Service, DeMotte, with Pastor Terry Rhine officiating.
Burial will be at Cemetery
of the Resurrection, DeMotte.

Nora V. Crawford
April 3, 1905 - May 15, 1999
Nora V. Crawford, 94, of 310 N. Arch Street, Monon died Saturday, May 15, 1999 if Rensselaer Care Center. She had been a resident there for the past two years.
Born April 3, 1905 in Seafield, Indiana, she was the daughter of Henry and Alice Fleming Swygman.
She graduated from Wolcott High School in 1922.
She married Thomas R. Crawford on December 24, 1925 in Monticello. He died July 27, 1977.
A homemaker, she had lived in White County all her life. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Monon, Monon Town & Country Home Ec Club, Monon Euchre Club, and Buellah Dell Ladies Circle.
She is survived by two daughters, Jeanne Blunk of Monon and. Margaret Dickmander of Ligonier. She had 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
Two brothers and three sisters preceded her in death.
Funeral services were Tuesday at Kellogg Funeral Home with rev Steve Birch officiating. Burial was in Monon Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to 1st Baptist Church or Monon Volunteer Fire Department.
Phyllis Beasey Crissinger
March 23, 1930 - July 12, 1994
Phyllis Beasey Crissinger, 64, formerly of Monon, died Tuesday, July 12, at the home of her daughter in Monon. She had been in failing health for seven months.
She was born March 23, 1930 in Monon to Oscar Lewis and Sadie Frances Taylor Pauley. Her first marriage was to Luther Beasey, who died August 15, 1984. Her second marriage was August 17, 1986 to Robert L. Crissinger, who survives.
She was a homemaker and had been living in Florida since leaving Monon in 1979.
Surviving with her husband are one son, Terry L. Beasey of Reynolds; three daughters, Jeneen L. Sparks of Monon, Lois Runk of Brookston, and Mara L. Beasey of Alpine, CA; one stepson, Kenneth L. Crissinger of Wheeling. IL; four sisters, Evalyn Barnard of Monon, Janice Linback of Lafayette, Sonja Parsley of Logansport, and Sharon Cummings of Linden; 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Three brothers are deceased.
Funeral services were held Thursday, July 14, in Kellogg Funeral Home, Monon, with Rev. George Thomson officiating.
Burial was in Bedford Cemetery, Monon.
