James Whetstone Sr.

OWENSVILLE - James W. Whetstone Sr., 71, died Thursday, Feb. 14, 2002, at Gibson General Hospital in Princeton.

He retired from Bucyrus-Erie in Evansville, working in the maintenance department.

Surviving are his wife, Edith; three sons, James, John and Mike Whetstone; three daughters, Shelia Hodgson, Marlena Hale and Becky Williams; six brothers and sisters; and 15 grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton, with burial in Maumee Cemetery in Johnson, with military rites by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1147.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes. Association.

James Bard

James A. Bard, 64, of Evansville, died Tuesday, February 12, 2002, at The Baptist Hospital in San Antonio, Texas.

He was a native of Greenville, Ky. He graduated from Central High School in Evansville. He held a black belt in martial arts. He served in the United States Air Force.

Mr. Bard retired from Alcoa Warrick Operations after 30 years of service. He was currently employed at Wal-Mart as a greeter. He attended Cleaves Memorial CME Church.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Anna M. Bard of Evansville; a son, Jeffrey O. Bard of Newark, Delaware; a daughter, Alethia O. Bard of San Antonio, Texas; a granddaughter, Asja M. Bard of San Antonio; 3 brothers, Thomas, Robert and Ronald Bard, all of Evansville; and several uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces and cousins.

Funeral services will be Saturday, Feb. 16, 2002, at 11 a.m. at Cleaves Memorial CME Church, Rev. James Buckner officiating.

Visitation will be today from 3 to 5 p.m. at Mason Bros. Memorial Chapel and from 6 to 8 p.m. at Cleaves Memorial CME Church, 650 Line Street. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery.

Allen Brown Jr.

Allen Brown Jr., 75, of Evansville, died February 13, 2002, at Brentwood Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. He was a native of Buffalo, New York. He lived in Evansville for 22 years.

Allan was a member of the Little Valley Missionary Baptist Church, the Men's Chorus and Usher Board.

Allen was a professional carpenter and member of Carpenters Union Local 90. He was a member of the Senior Bowling League at the Franklin Bowling Alley.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Vivian Brown of Evansville; a stepdaughter, Linda of California; 2 sons, David of Delaware and Grover of Buffalo, N.Y.; 4 daughters, Carolyn, Sharon, Brenda and Deborah, all of Buffalo; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and many friends.

Services noon Saturday Feb. 16, 2002, at Little Valley Missionary Baptist Church, Rev. J.R. Smith Sr. officiating, with burial in Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery.

There will be a wake from 6 to 8 p.m. today, February 15, 2002, at the church. Mason Bros. Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.

JoAnn Gaw

JoAnn (Compton) Gaw, 76, of Evansville, died at 7:20 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2002, at St. Mary's Medical Center. She was born September 14, 1925.

JoAnn was a homemaker and had been the secretary for her husband's business Gaw's TV Service for over 40 years. She was of the Catholic faith.

JoAnn was preceded in death by her husband, William Gaw, in 1994.

Survivors are daughters, Billie Jo Dieckhaus and her husband, Roger of Lincoln, Neb., Kathy Crofts and Becky Gaw, both of Evansville, Jamie Appel and her husband, Dave of Evansville, Tammy Sullivan and her husband, Keith of Evansville and Debbie Calhoun and her husband, Richard of Newburgh; a son, Gregg Gaw and his wife, Candy of Boonville, Ind.; 11 grandchildren, Aline, Rebeca, Tobie, Kelly and Sadie Crofts, all of Evansville, Joey and Cris Dieckhaus of Lincoln, Neb., and Ryan, Jourdan, Meghan and Paige Gaw, all of Boonville; 10 great-grandchildren, Kari and Kelly Skelton, both of Evansville, Kelzi and Kenadee Daniels, both of Evansville, Dylan and Paige Murray, both of Evansville, Cody, Cuda Lee and Keeli Dimmett and Tommy Kanzler, all of Evansville.

Services will be private today, February 15, 2002. Arrangements handled by Alexander West Chapel. Burial in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. There will be no visitation at Alexander West Chapel.

Donations may be made to Deaconess/Ohio Valley Hospice Care or Easter Seals.

Clifton Hancock

Clifton W. Hancock 59, of Evansville, died Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2002, at Deaconess Hospital of complications of a heart attack. He was a retired Air Force veteran.

Surviving are two daughters, Joyce McKelvy and Barbee Kalbfleisch ; three sisters, Aera Brunner and Loretta Tate and Althea Jahnke; and six grandchildren.

Graveside services noon Saturday in Oak Hill Cemetery. There will be no visitation at Ziemer Funeral Home Central Chapel.

Lillie Johnson

Lillie Mae (Gray) Johnson, the daughter of Lillian Kluke Gray of Princeton, Ky., and the Late Proctor Gray Sr., was born December, 22, 1926, in Caldwell County, Kentucky. She entered into eternity on Wednesday, February 13, 2002, at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville at the age of 76.

Lillie joined the church at an early age at Shepherd Street Baptist Church in Princeton, Ky. Later in life she moved to Evansville, where she was united in marriage to George F. Johnson Sr.

Lillie Johnson was a lovely wife, mother and grandmother. She leaves to cherish her memory, her mother, Lillian Kluke Gray of Princeton, Ky.; her husband, George F. Johnson Sr.; 3 daughters, Mary Jane Vance (Charles), Shelia Johnson and Delores Johnson, all of Evansville; 3 sons, George F. Johnson Jr. and Samuel Johnson, both of Evansville, and Mark Johnson of Fort Walton Beach, Florida; 6 brothers, Robert and Fred Gray, both of Princeton, Ky., Walter and Robert Earl Gray, both of Decatur, Ill., Frank Gray of Kansas City, Kan., and Shellie Gray of Jackson, Miss.; 2 sisters, Mary Louise Irvin of Terre Haute, Ind., and Lillie Boyd of Paducah, Ky.; a close cousin, Beatrice Grissett; 11 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Mason Bros. Memorial Chapel, with the Rev. Robert Owens officiating, burial in Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Mason Bros. Memorial Chapel, 1001 Lincoln, Evansville, Ind.

Fred Baker

TELL CITY - Fred O. Baker, 73, of Bloomsdale, Mo., died Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2002, at his home.

He had worked for Chrysler Corp.

Surviving are his wife, Evelyn M.; a daughter, Sharon Gayle McDonald; a son, Frederick Michael "Mike"; two sisters, Cleatus J. Cannon and Wilma Jean Major; and 11 grandchildren.

Services will be at 9 a.m. Saturday at Vinyard Funeral Home in Festus, Mo., and services at 3 p.m. Saturday at Shady Grove (Ky.) Baptist Church, burial in the church cemetery.

Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to HospiceCare Inc. in Park Hills, Mo.

Bonnie Beck

PRINCETON - Bonnie M. (Wise) Beck, 66, died Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2002, at her home.

She was an insurance agent and Avon representative.

Surviving are her husband, Arthur; three daughters, Ann Beck, Carla Lindy and Jennifer Hoke; two stepdaughters, Jackie Ramsey and Erma Lee Roedel; three brothers, Fred, Jerry and Tom Wise; three grandchildren; and four stepgrandchildren.

Graveside services 1 p.m. Saturday in Fairview Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 today at Colvin Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Fairview Presbyterian Church.

Brenda Gilbert

FOLSOMVILLE - Brenda (Phillips) Gilbert, 46, died Wed. (Feb. 13) at her home.

She attended Jockey Bethel Church. She was preceded in death by a brother, Ricky Phillips, and a sister, Terry Phillips.

Surviving are her husband, Donald Gilbert of Folsomville; her father, Hershell M. Phillips of Folsomville; 2 daughters, Christina Gordon Darding of Folsomville and Robin Parrish of Winslow; 2 sons, Brandon Gilbert at home and Brian Gordon of Boonville; and 1 brother, Marvin A. Phillips of Folsomville.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sat. (Feb. 16) at Koehler Funeral Home Boonville Chapel, with burial in Folsomville Cemetery, Rev. Donald Grubb officiating.

Friends may call from 2 until 8 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. until service time Sat. at Koehler Funeral Home Boonville Chapel.
